Logs
This cache was missing (checked with CO). Logging with permission. Nice views fown at the river. Great little spot [TFTC]
59 up is similar to 59 steps down. Either way, when you go down, you know you have to go upwards. Great place to sit on a hot summer day.
Quick cache and grab, thought running the steps was a good idea, my heart rate says otherwise. TFTC
Been to Mangawhai many times but never down this street, nice spot to access estuary. Easy find from hint, TFTC
We walked/ran along the waters edge and up these steps last night. Trouble was, it was high tide so it was more like a swim. The tide is out now so all good. We walked from the top down to my calculated gz and there it was. Thanks for the placement
Forgot to count but the sharp co-ords sorted that..so many hidden pathways and tracks around.. wonderful area worthy of a cache thanks for the placement
In town for a couple of days for a group holiday adventure. Great views across the inlet and the mountains across the water.
It's been a long while since I've been in this area so while I left the old dog in the car with Ricky and Freda to look after him, a quick step work out lay ahead of me. I counted about 100 steps ( so glad they weren't big ones) before I stopped for a quick look. Nope. So another 120 odd steps down and up later, and counting more carefully this time, I found myself looking in the same spot more carefully. Yep, I could have saved myself from that extra up and down if I'd looked more carefully in the first place! Oh well, what goes down, must go back up, and that will include my calorie count when I go visit Bennett's Chocolate factory! Tftc!
Quick and easy find, good little workout running down and up the stairs again. Log was a little wet and might need a dry out. TFTC
We couldn't find it! Will do a return visit sometime, would love another hint if possible!
Up here with the Co. She watched me as I count up the steps and made a quick find. Thanks
Was in Mangawhai for a few days. Lovely area, love the town. Took my bike with me and took a ride one night to explore and find some caches.
Great hint.
My friend told me of these stairs as she use to run up and down them for fitness.

Found with dead Rock flower. Great to be out and about in this wild weather on labour weekend.
Found with Princess Luna, New Lunas and WiiPhe and Reebuck on a wet wild Labour Weekend. TFTC
Very fun! We found it and at first we did not know what the hint meant, but then we found out what it meant.
Was a good hide had to reread the hint a for times before I found it was a pretty easy find
Out for a morning bike ride to find some caches. Plenty of steps here but a quick find.

Went with my 2 kids to find first geocache. No luck for us after 20 mins of searching up and down stairs
Day 19 of my TA adventure..into town for a supply stop but a quick cache before hand ,wasnt until I looked at the map again I realised I had over shot the shops ...doh!!! Nice quick find tftc
Followed the GPS, then looked about, and was soon reaching for the cache.
Thanks for the hide merlot58 & Ellex2, not looking forward to the steps up
TB not in cache

Owing to a small minority not observing the lockdown for Covid-19, I am disabling my caches until we are through the other side
To log this cache, it was a good excercise. The view on the beach was wonderful. Thanks a lot.
We stayed in Mangawhai heads for a couple of days with the kids. Once they were tucked up in bed I popped out and grabbed a couple of geocaches. Not to many issues finding this one, even in the dark. THTC.
Doing some evening caching while mate at a meeting. Gorgious night by the estuary. Tftc
Heading North for the weekend with 2kiwis.com, we stopped to look for this cache while taking the scenic route around the coast. Lost count of the steps, but we made a quick find of the cache at GZ. Picked up a TB. TFTC!
Trip up north to see family. Travelling with vista and finding a few caches on the way.
Clever little find - mr 9 wanted to give it up but one last attempt and we found it! Left a track able here for the next cacher
Nothing like a good cardio workout on a stinking hot day....... thankfully a quick find.

Haven’t been caching for a while, so took a bit to get our eye on the game again. Pretty obvious once we found it lol. Tftc
Kiwiscot has been enjoying herself at the annual Red Beach Surf Life Saving camp based at the Mangawhai Heads camp ground. After a big morning competing in the Red Beach Survivor competition and boogie boarding at the main surf beach a quiet afternoon walk with friends was called for with the promise of an ice cream at the end. Tide low so no issues walking around the coast line. GPS got us in the right spot and hide quickly spotted. TFTC
With Gap (of Fap and Gap)... We decided to shape our weekend caching adventures around a couple of Gap's jobs... and then it started to rain.
In comparison to the drive next door, the stairs would be a much gentler option. The spacing between each step and the downward curvature made for a pleasant exercise. We didn't walk out onto the beach, as slight drizzle was in the air. Instead, we counted up from the bottom and were onto the hide immediately. A well placed spot... TFTC.

Today I had to go to Waihi Beach then on up to Mangawhai to measure jobs. weather was not the best but jobs were inside.
Arranged with Squirrel Nutcase to come along as a passenger so we could collect a few caches in our travels.
We both got wet and muddy (which is all part of caching) along with 7 DNF's with several caches needing new log books.
We decided to stop in Wellsford for the night, had dinner at the local roast shop which was very very nice.
Perhaps owners would like to do some repairs in area. SLTFTC

Made our way down just as the light rain started, the hint is very helpful

A nice little spot, and a sneaky little hide. A quick find after working in the area today. TFTC
The weather was just right, so I took two days to go up to Waipu to get in some Geocaching. Also, I wanted to make sure all my camping gear was in order for next month's Mega in Wellington.
I was hoping for a short count from the top, but, alas, it was from the bottom. TFTC.

Was a bit puffed after going down then up again!

Only 2 more in the area to go....Phew!

The caching stats for May were looking a bit sad, so a plan was hatched to grab a break in the weather and walk the magnificent Mangawhai Cliff Top Walkway today and try for the 11 caches there. Headed off this morning and after a 60 km detour for an FTF, I made it to Mangawhai a bit later than expected.
Because of this, I decided to walk along the beach first and do the caches in reverse order. The wind was still very blustery and cool, but I was amazed at the number of muggles who were still out on the beach and doing the walkway.
After completing the walkway, I headed back into Mangawhai to convert a few more dots into yellow smilies. Such a beautiful spot here, but as I headed down the stairs counting carefully, I met a muggle coming up, somewhere close to GZ, which put me right off, so continued on to the bottom to check out the estuary again. Once the coast was clear, I headed back up and this time there was no trouble locating the cache where indicated. TFTC

Came in from the top and just as well... the tide was in. Couldn’t locate on first pass so went to the bottom and came back up. No worries this time. TFTC
Headed up North with Jag50 and Merlot58 to stay in Pahi for the long weekend. The accompanying CO watched on in amusement as we headed down all the stairs and then searched for the cache. What a lovely container.
We decided to get way for Easter and stay in Pahi with Merlot58 and Aiden29. Our first for a new day. Left MrJag50 doing building work for the day. Very pretty container
Team Welsh and I decided to spend a day cruising the area and grabbing some caches. Thanks.
Losing energy at the end of a long caching day so trusted the GPS rather than counting the steps and good co-ords meant it was a straight forward find. TFTC
Great excuse for a walk around my old home ‘town’ admiring all the beautiful houses and tropical gardens. Sent my daughter off to re-count the steps and then found the cache while waiting for her to return oops! TFTC
A quick find while enjoying the area for the day. Made a quick count and there it was. TFTC
Kia Ora! Greetings from Minnesota, USA! VikingNav and I are staying at the Mangawhai Retreat Apartments for a couple of days and decided to get out and do a little caching this afternoon in the area. We also enjoyed some beach time at Mangawhai Heads. We found the cache fairly quickly. Thanks for making our day more enjoyable with this cache! >^..^
#9822. A pleasant day trip to Mangawhai and Mangawhai Heads. Plenty of holiday visitors in the locality, but GZ itself was all quiet when we visited. Found after a short search. The cache was in good condition, all nice and dry inside. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.
Walked down to the beach afterwards … so the return trip added 322 steps to today’s count.
Thanks for the placement and for bringing us to the site, and …

Took a while to find but then looked in the ‘obvious’ spot and there it was! TFTC
Mangawhai
Visiting family north of Auckland.
We had a batch here for about fourty years, nice to visit the area again. Counted our steps & GZ was spot on.
Thanks for placing this cache merlot58

Stopped by in lovely Mangawhai heading North and thought we'd grab this one. Walked to the bottom and let the clue sink in. Easy find but the container could benefit from being replaced! TFTC
