Today we went to the Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve. In addition to many animals such as turtles, koalas, kangaroos, bandicot and birds, we also found a few of the geocaches laid out. Thank you for putting the caches !This cache could also be found. Thank you very much.
12:42we spent this day in tidbinbilla nature reserve where we saw many unusual, beautiful species like koalas, potoroos, birds, butterflies and many more.thanks for the cache.
Ich bin bin mit Flintstones cachen gegangen und haveb dabei diesen netten Cache gefunden. I went caching with Flintstones, today a visit to Tidbinbilla to see Koalas and many other animals we have never seen before. We also found this nice cache! Here we saw a black swan. Vielen Dank fr den tollen Cache (TFTC) Tankengine und greetings from Germany.
I found this while enjoying Tidbinbilla w/ hellagirlpunk, MrCoffee, and Honeysucker. The nature reserve is such a beautiful area. Thank you so much for the hide. <3
Visiting from Virginia USA, caching on Black Mountain on a beautiful day. Last one for us here. Thanks!
I did a tour of the area with a group from GeoBash and a local ranger. We learned a lot as we found some caches along the way. I believe we signed as TT1 but I honestly don't remember. LOL I do know we had permission to send in answers as a group, when needed. Every step we took in the reserve revealed new critters and flora for us to see. Cool!Thank you for the smiley and the fun!The day:Today was day 1 of my time in Canberra for the GeoBash Mega and getting to spend time with my friends. Hooray! It all started with a an awesome tour and then Joolay was my tour guide to a lot of other cool caches. What a great way to start off my time here. And the added bonus is spending time with my FRIENDS!Many thanks to all the geocachers who placed and continue to maintain their geocaches for folks like me to find. I know it's not always easy, but know that I appreciate you.
TTT signature for Tidbinbilla Team Tour with Oz Mega hosted by Joolay, dty73 and Aquilus1. TFTC!
Signed under TTT. Here with the tour group of geocachers as part of the Capital GeoBash Mega. Its a gorgeous day to be discovering the sanctuary. Our tour guide is fantastic. Thanks for the geocache!
Found and signed as TTT on the Tidbinbilla walk during the Mega. This was a great day to be exploring this wetlands area. Thanks to Tankengine for the cache.
Found while attending the Mega and out with the tour group at Tidbinbilla. A great day out. Log signed for the group as TTT. Another great day for caching. ?? TFTC Tankengine
We picked this one up as part of the TTT crew taking the Tidbinbilla Wetlands tour on a glorious Thursday in the lead up to the Capital Geobash. This truly is a magical spot. Thanks to Joolay, dty73 and Aquilus1 for organising!
Found and signed with TTT as part of the mega. What a beautiful day it was to explore a small area of Tidbinbilla Thanks Tankengine for another great cache!!
Great day for a tour of the Tidbinbilla wetlands as part of the geobash Oz mega event. Great tour guide. Learned lots. Mets lovely people from around the world. Tftf!
A beautiful day in the Tidbinbilla park today. We saw koalas, platypuses, kangaroos and a red-bellied snake (and of course some caches).
After a morning at the Cotter River, we took the opportunity of free entrance into this reserve to do some walking. I wonder how long it will be free to visit here? We have not visited this location since before the fires in 2003, although we have been back into the nature reserve, just not this area. So much has changed, and we loved our walk here. We found the hide with a little searching and have added our name. Thanks Tankengine Domsky
Found on a trip to Tidbinbilla to check out the site for a GeoBash tour. Enjoying a lovely walk today. Thanks for the hide Tankengine
The walk is lovely and the weather perfect. Seemed to have beaten the hordes as it was pretty quiet this morning.
Fabulous Autumn day to be out in the country.
Thanks for getting me out and about Tankengine

Out for a day of walks at Tidbinbilla with Ilmari_the_Red. Had to reach in quite a long way to extract this one, but we did. TFTC!
I disturbed a bandicoot at GZ. TGen I discovered a whole family of spiders, so I decided to leave this one to another day.
Spent an arvo re-exploring Tidbinbilla- nice and quiet there today, so perfect conditions for finding a few caches in the usually busy spots
Aquilus1, dty73, Tankengine and I came out to Tidbinbilla to hunt for a new cache and extended our stay with a walk around the Sanctuary, followed by the Lyrebird and Cascade trail. We had a great time enjoying the beautiful nature out here and finding a number of caches along the way.
We walked to this cache next and I made a find in a nice spot before we turned around and started to go back.
Thank you Tankengine for putting the cache out and maintaining it.

Very beautiful around here today. Quiet, lots of water birds, no platypus sightings unfortunately. TFTC!
Ok so we found this fairly quickly but had to wait around forever so the muggles would go away as lots of people on the walkway. We had a good laugh at the turtles pushing each other around to get the best sun bathing spot. Thank you for the cache.
After watching the pond for a while we spotted a platypus today. Was only up briefly before heading underwater again. TFTC Tankengine!
TFTC Out and about with The Farmers 5 to pick up a few caches in TNR after an earlier FTF at the Cotter. Love this Reserve, always such a great place to be though not much in the way of wildlife at the end of the day. Was fun spotting a few though.
Another great day for caching today, thanks to the CO for placing and maintaining this cache.

Found with Contesta on a cache run around the wetlands.
We were having a critter finding competion and she was leading 4 nil at this stage .
Great walk and cache hide.
Many thanks to Contesta.

The GeoKids and I had a lovely day exploring Tidbinbilla and finding caches. This cache was a straightforward find at GZ, thanks Tankengine.
Had to wait out the muggles, but grabbed after they had passed. All good. Lots of frog noises today.
Thanks,
Thanks,
A pleasant stroll around the Sanctuary this morning in a light drizzle. Quickly found this one but sad that I had missed a more recent trad on the circuit. Next time. TFTC Tankengine.
It was a lovely day for a walk here and my 7yo made easy work of finding this cache hidden in a likely location.
Managed to see one platypus from a distance with the assistance of one of the park guides. TFTC
The important thing when seeking to spy a platypus is patience. And today that paid off! Saw a platypus, the musk duck and lots of other ducks. TFTC
Found at 1:35:00 PM with DogBoyOz
Had to await a break in the muggles as the Sanctuary was so busy today.
Thanks Tankengine

As well as finding the cache in good order, was delighted to see a good number of birds on the way including Magpie Geese, Pelican, Pied Cormorant, young Black Swan who was speckled grey, Swamp Hens, Grey Teals (or Pacific Blacks - didn't have my binoculars) et al. Perfect day for a bit of a walk and trial of the new smart phone, this time with a compass(!!) and a decent camera. Took a lovely reflection photo at the weir. TFTC
Found the cache with Silvereyes, who knows all the birds and there were many of them. A wonderful sight. Great day to walk around the wetlands. Thank you Tankengine.
Found while doing the Sanctuary Loop walk with the kids. A nice easy find with the hint, one of my kids said "wow! who ever hid that must have been really smart". Cheers Tankengine
Another one done. Woo Hoo! I enjoyed finding this one at 1:07:53 PM.
I love the challenge of the geocache hunt - read the notes, decipher the cache requirements, and go searching for the hide. This is an amazing world-wide game of hide and seek. I love it! I also enjoy caching with my 2 boys, and meeting fellow cachers. It really is a small world when I read over cache logs and see names of my friends who have found caches around the country. Thanks go to for making the effort to place this cache and maintain it. It's a great contribution to the Geocaching community and it is very much appreciated.
TFTC! Cheers. Jump Pilot

On a hot day in the sun, we were very cautious of red belly black snakes after seeing 2 of them not more than 500m from GZ. Found and replaced without incident! TFTC
There were no cars in the carpark so I took the opportunity to seek out some caches without the complication of muggles. This was a straightforward find today. TFTC
**This Cache**
Not entirely sure about Note #3 in the description It is not a very small container at all! For Tankengine standards infact it is actually quite large! But what a lovely walk around the wetlands today, I can certainly see why this is one of your favourite spots! It was very pleasant!
A quick find here in the obvious spot thanks to the hint!
Off to the next one! Thanks

**The Day:**
Myself and DSD planned a huge day out to Tidbinbilla to find as many caches as we could! An early start leaving Canberra at 7am, grabbing some food along the way and walking out to the first cache to make a find at 8:30am.
We clocked up 40,000 steps, which was 30km of walking over 9 hours! We also managed to walk on parts of 11 out of the 20 trails within the nature reserve, and didn't have a single DNF which was quite amazing given the amount of unloved, and previous DNF's a couple of the caches had!
An awesome day was had, with perfect weather and lots of fun along the way!

Last year I spotted a very large Brown Snake at the GZ. No snake today.

We clocked up over 40,000 steps, which was 30km of walking over 9 hours! We also managed to claim 6 years of un-love in total for the caches we found during the day. We also managed to do the whole or part of 11 out of the 20 trails within the Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve, and we didn't have a single DNF for the whole day, which was quite amazing given the amount of unloved, and previous DNF's a couple of the caches had!
An awesome day was had, with perfect weather and lots of fun along the way! Thanks to Loci612 and all the cache owners for the caches. I signed all the logbooks DSD or darksidedan or darkside depending on how much room there was to sign.

Out with dty73 and Tankengine to check out the joys of Tidbinbilla. Beautiful walk that definitely deserves a Favourite. This sort of walk makes caching a joy regardless of the weather, which was tops for our visit. Oh, I forgot. We did find the cache and sign the log. Kutgw
Perfect placement around the bend in the path - plenty of muggles around, but none in sight. Quick find by a geokid. TFTC!
Beautiful day for a walk along the wetlands. Plenty of turtles, birds and platypuses to see today. TFTC Tankengine.
Found after a walk to Nil Desperatun with two muggle friends. Chilly but mostly sunny.
Decided I wanted to see a platypus in the ‘wild’ and was so excited to see three of them in these ponds! And a swan nesting on about 6 eggs.
Easily found.
Thanks

Motivated to do some extra exercise, I cycled to Tidbinbilla to do some little walks and some geocaching... now, it's avout the same distance for me to get here as it it to get to the city, but boy is it a much harder trek! I had to pedal quite hard and refuel with an ice cream at the visitor's centre before heading back in the evening. I actually found myself envying those casual cyclists with their prissy narrow-tyred road bikes!
The wetlands walk is always lovely. I'd never known there to be a cache at this spot! Fortunately it was not busy at this stretch of the patch and I could sign the log without being seen.
TFTC.

An afternoon's caching on the way to and in Tidbinbilla. An easy find while attempting the Tidbinbilla multi. TFTC.

A lovely walk around the Cascades and Lyrebird Trails on a cold but sunny day. I was on the hunt for fungi, but not many around. No lyrebirds sighted, but some very talented ones were heard. With a bit of time before the sun disappeared I paid a visit to the always lovely Sanctuary and the delightful Wetlands Walk.
After pausing along the way to check out the local male Musk Duck (who I am told is named Ripper) and an occasionally surfacing platypus it was down to business. Only a couple of muggles nearby, who were occupied with the playtpus, so nobody to disturb me while I made a quick and easy find (yes, the hint helped). TFTC

A very easy find with the hint. A lovely day for a stroll through the park although a lot of people in the park due to it being free today.

After spending many hours working (not necessarily solving) puzzles for the Oz GeoMuster next weekend, I was well and truly in need of some actually, outdoor geocaching. CBRChic was busy this morning so it was an after lunch expedition for a few hours before beer o'clock. So we dropped in to the Tidbinbilla Tracking station, to grab a few before heading into the Tidbinbilla Nature reserve. The weather could be charitably described as threatening. Actually it regularly gusted and rained. Not too many found today, mostly due to time constraints.
Didn't find this one. Searched for about 10 mins but no luck.
Thanks anyway Tankengine

Sunday 8 October - an overcast warm Spring afternoon in the low 20s deciding to take a yearly pass into the Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve to explore the park extensively and find all the caches possible over the next 12 months. Walked a leisurely 5-6 kms over 4 hours enjoying the bush and everything it had to offer. Today we found 1 EarthCache, 1 multicache and 3 traditionals. Unfortunately we had 3 DNFs and additionally access through the high fenced-gated park to 'Basil's Bush Meander' is currently padlocked so we were unable to get anywhere near it today.
Quick and easy find in this delightful area. The water levels in the dams are low but the surrounding open plains are a beautiful green. Interesting! Thx p2p. TFTC Tankengine.

Our first trip to the sanctuary in a few years. Saw a bunch of birds including Brolgas, Pelicans, Swans, Emus and a variety of what looked like ducks. We weree doing the multi which is a fabulous multi.... very easy but gives the geokids something to think about and keep an eye out.
Found with addictedgamer when we were walking around the wetlands track. knew where this was when aquilus1 and dty73 found it. TFTC.
Found after a 20 k walk around Tidbinbilla / Pierces Creek, Decided to brave the sleet and get this one before heading home. Not many people around to-day. TFTC.
I have always loved this area. Keep your eyes out for Platypus, Brolga and carnivorous ducks.
A quick find after a long hike up/over/around and back over the other side of the valley. TNLNSL TFTC
A good clue helped us with an easy find. Celeste with the map made short work of this one. TFTC
Found 14:31 12/6/17. A lovely spot. Saw a platypus in the water nearby. Thank you Tankengine for the cache.
Out for a caching adventure to Tidbinbilla with JuSoJaRa
After exploring the Koala enclosure we decided to make our way over this way. First find in the Wetlands area and a nice quick one too... I spotted something that just didn't look right and soon had the cache in hand.

Out for a run in Tidbinbilla with DRT today and this was our first on the Wetlands Walk. A nice quick find but not much activity about on the Wetlands - TFTC
I was on a Walking For Pleasure walk in Tidbinbilla - up to Gibraltar Peak (almost) - and I decided to drive up to the Sanctuary for a short walk afterwards to take my total walk distance up to at least 10km. Plus I wanted to check out the koalas again! On the way to GZ I came across 2 rangers who had just started feeding the pelicans (George & Mildred - that's the name of the pelicans, not the rangers!) - apparently they do this each day at 1.30pm, but I was the only spectator today. After the pelicans were satiated, we all wandered towards GZ, so I had to feign interest in the nearby sign & then start "birdwatching" until after they had disappeared from view. I was working from memory, without a GPS, but I was able to locate the cache very promptly. Good little hidey hole. TFTC.
Hadn't even noticed that this had been hidden but after doing maintenance on my nearby Peppermint Trail, the GPS suggested that we were close. Yep, a lovely spot and good for the soul!
Must've missed Agent Basil - by that much! I was there today too. Saw a platypus swimming, but just as quickly it submerged and came up who knows where. Cache good, thanks.
I missed seeing these new caches pop up in Tidbinbilla so once we had enough of bush-bashing at Corin, we decided to revisit the Sanctuary. A beautiful day and there were plenty of visitors but we managed to grab the cache between passers-by without issue. No platypuses today but I got some great shots last time we were here. Thanks Tankengine
We decided it was a perfect afternoon to revisit the sanctuary at our favourite Canberra nature reserve and do a spot of geocaching (and replace our lost park pass). Not sure why I immediately thought this was a multi, almost walked right past it to as we were distracted by the platypus and turtles playing nearby!
Nice quick find, Mr Stormcatcher was still cautious on the approach as there were reports of a few snakes around the boardwalk...Thongs are not the best footwear sometimes!
Nothing like a bit of cache maintenance to spawn a new caches ...thanks again Tankengine, this is a pretty special area indeed.
