I checked on this one at GZ has changed significantly since placement. The container which was unusual has also gone and cannot be replaced. Therefore I have decided to Archive this cache.
Overgrown fallen tree, last standing tree is cache less. This one seems to need some love from owner.
Even with the use of the last recorded find log, this one remained elusive.
May be worth a cache check.

Coblets were correct as it must have been in the old tree and we found buried under the fallen tree. We placed the cache bearing in the tree next to it. It isn't well hidden from the part of the path. It sits around 7ft high. Thanks for the cache.
We searched high and low but no luck for us. Hopefully it wasn't in the tree which has been chopped down. We'll be back.
Didn’t get the name or the hint. Followed a cachers trail and eventually found the cache. Was put off by the smell of dead animal. That and the weird fungus growing on the tree. Retrieved and signed anyway. TFTC.
Took the opportunity between showers to complete the rest of this series. The caches were well placed and the hints very helpful. Tftc
Last August we came here but I couldn't walk far as I was on crutches due to a cycling mishap so today we came back and although time was against me we had afternoon tea then got the bike out and off we went
We are on a road trip in our campervan to do some bike trails with geocaches along them and the plan is to head to Bowentown and on up to Whangamata then on to Pauanui. All these places have bike trails with geocaches along them so I wish to thanks the C O s who placed the geocaches along the trails as We really enjoy doing trails and getting geocaching numbers up.
Other geocaches were also sought out as we went along to help fill the day in. We were pleased most caches were well maintained and only had 3 no finds along the way
many thanks

For my personal challenge of working towards getting my calendar on GC.COM to be at least the same shade of green or darker I need to sign off at least 11 caches today. I won't grumble if I find one or two more Today I decided to leave Hora Hora Domain and head for Lake Ngaroto as there were more than enough caches to fit my requirements.
Replaced the log sheet as it was full. The cache and its camouflage have parted company. I was going to say that mother kicked the dead egg away.[:o)]
Cheers for the cache.

Got the bike out for this one and had a great ride around the lake picking up the caches. Good one for placing them. All were found. Great Stuff

Very late getting some caches logged, life has been getting in the way.
Anyway, apologies for the copy paste logs, it was a few weeks ago and I barely remember yesterday, let alone that long ago haha. I'll make notes where I can.
TFTC , the cache was found in good order Signed, sealed and returned to GZ. 6 find(s) of 12 today, making this find #1976

#573. Mr and Mrs Northwood headed out after Sunday breakfast to complete the walk around the lake and hopefully gather all the caches. We were surprized how many other people there were walking, running or cycling, but it was a very pleasant morning.
As others have said, what I assume was the lid is now standing guard with the cache, but the effect is very good. Followed a little trail that is forming and made a quick find after a chuckle on locating it.
TFTH.

Lake Ngaroto was on my list from long time. Happy to do small trip around the like on my bike. Busy Sunday here! Nice trail. Love it! Wish to see more lake but anyway .... Thanks for hides along! Need little attention from CO as top is not longer attached but it was nice hide. Thanks!
Cache Nr: 5423
We did the nice walk around lake Ngaroto today. It was hot (29 degrees) but the sun was mostly behind clouds. With a nice breeze it wasn't too bad.
I could find all 12 remaining caches allright.
Thanks for placing all the caches Quiri

For our NZ visit we created a "wishful-thinking-to-do-list" ... knowing we can not do them all but we can at least try. Old caches, earth, virtual and webcam are on the top of our list... but also some traditionals, multi etc...
Grounded....

Over in the area for a quick visit so we took the opportunity to join all the families and dog walkers out for a nice walk. As previously reported, log is full. We wrote along the side. Unfortunately we found the lid separated from the cache. Both parts are still there, just not together, the glue has come unstuck. TFTC
Spending a couple of days at Lake Ngaroto to do all the caches on the track around the lake. Mr S once again was the finder here. All good.
Thanks iammrwalker.
Thanks iammrwalker.
I was searching around when I saw two eye looking back at me. I carefully poked around. After not receiving a bite, I figured it must be the cache. TFTC.
Had a teachers only day, so hung out with my Nan today, we came to Lake Ngaroto for a day of adventure, we have never been here before. We walked the track and found every single one of them, some took longer than others, but we got there in the end, many thanks for bringing us here.
Out and about today. Been having withdrawals since attending Mega in Wellington. Nice hide here and all is good. Many Thanks. Eventually found the guardian (a fp) but took a while to find the rest. I’m assuming they were attached at some point, re United them but needs some glue.
Container is fine. It use to have an owl attached to the lid which has come loose.
That container looks very familia . I use to use these 15-20years back picking up milk
Normally I'm not much of a fan of geotrails but they are great when you're in a hurry. TFTC.
Found during a walk around the lake with some friends. No pen so took a photo instead. TFTC
Well gosh this was a bit cute! The track and surrounds were quite wet so it took us a bit of convincing to get us off the beaten track but we all had a look before signing. Loved it. Tftc
Out for a run. Lovely still autumn afternoon so good to get some fresh air. Glad it has been dry for a couple of weeks. TFTC
We didn't get the cache name at first but found the other half of the container on the ground when returning the log. Needs a little glue to reunite the two halves. Have placed back as best we could. Tftc
A walk around the lake after work and time to grab some new caches...great container. Tftc
Finally a chance to get out and about caching. Took the dogs for the walk but as it has been a while since they’ve been on a longer walk they suffered in the heat.
Enjoyed our visit, no trouble with any finds and all were found in great condition TFTC.

. Enjoying a walk to pick up all the new caches. Track has certainly been upgraded but disappointed how much of the bush seems to have been taken over by weeds. Must be a nightmare to the volunteers who work the area. Cache all good and loved the container. TFTC
Stopped at lake Ngaroto today on our way home from camping at Raglan. This was a nice quick find and cool camo.

This cache was a hoot to find thanks. Ventured off the park and was careful to make note of the hints offered on the cache page. Told Mrs Tuolei what we were looking for (maybe) which was met with incredulity but there it was. Not nesting so much as the rather unfortunate victim of falling from the nest but not to worry, all good here, signed the log (careful with the lid) and popped back in nesting position. Thanks for the cache.
We teamed up with Team Welsh today to complete a leisurely and enjoyable circumnavigation of Lake Ngaroto. We followed what looked like a small geotrail off track beyond the item mentioned in the hint, and were pleased to quickly spy the container. Very cute!
Had no problems in locating the cache and very cute it is. Fav point for the container and on behalf of the whole series which was very enjoyable. TFTC placement
It was too difficult to find this one. Seeing the punga tree, we tried looking everywhere else but in it and had no luck. The wild berries and their strong thorns was not motivating :/
Awww this was a cute cache. Love it. Easy find as the geo trail leads you right to it. A fav from me. Tftc
While in the area the Squirrel and I decided to walk around Ngaroto Lake. Day not hot but area busy today with rowers on the lake and lots of muggles walking and running. We decided to do the track anti clockwise. Some caches wet so emptied out water and dried logs. All Co Ords good and caches quickly found.
Found 11.55am - SLTFTC

With Gap (of Fap and Gap)... Back in action after a couple of weeks hiatus.
We passed a family and Dad was carrying a gps... I thought he was caching, but they were checking traps... What an interesting container here, and a quick find. TFTC.

Always good to have a variety of caches and this was one of them TFTC slightly muddy get there but what a hoot
Continuing on our enjoyable walk around Lake Ngaroto.
What a hoot this cache was. Cute. Quick find, signed log and continued on our way. TFTC

Stood in a boggy patch and got soaked. It started to rain so my dry foot ended up just as wet as my wet foot. Spotted this on the ground, replaced it where i thought it may have supposed to have been. Fun one! Tftc
Lots of muggles here today and it's only a Tuesday morning, getting popular now that you can get right around without getting your feet wet.

Out for a walk around the lake with shellabellabee today to pick up a few smileys and make the most of the warm weather before autumn settles in! A lovely day for it - great walk around here - this one scores a favourite from me, TFTC
On an expedition with four grandchildren, enjoying these new caches around the lake today.
This one was very clever....
Thanks for the fun!

I had a 2 hours free, after providing some training to some people in Te Awamutu, so decided to go for a walk this nice sunny day & collect some caches!
Ok - I liked this container. Very pretty, and a nice change from the others.

Teamed up with 11hpg11 to go for a walk around the lake today. The biggest challenge of the loop was remembering we were supposed to be geocaching from time to time and not just ambling & nattering in the lovely sunshine ...
11hpg11 made a nice quick find here, although not as per the hint, ground-level to be precise, replaced as per hint to hopefully keep him safe. TFTC

Teamed up with Kiwis69 to have a nice catch up and walk around the lake and collect these new caches. A very hot afternoon but still enjoyable. Great chats and some great caches as well. A lovely series, nice to see all the work that has gone on around here. Will have to return with the child at some point. Thanks Iammrwalker for the placements.
Wandered in and wondered what we would find. Was looking around when I noticed something at my feet, luckily I didn't quite step on it! Signed and found what I presume was the place were it was meant to be. Hopefully tucked in a bit more securely so it wont fly away again.

As there was a break in the weather, NZ Patoto and I decided to chance it and go and search for the geocaches around Lake Ngaroto as well as the two new ones in Te Awamutu. I was wet by the time we had completed all the caches. Should of worn a proper raincoat. Got lots of smiles 13/13. #6. NZPatoto turn to find this. We were talking and overshot GZ. Had to back track. Glad it was not my turn to look as we were walking over water. Alot of rain has fallen. anyway GZ was dry so no wet feet. Cache was really cute - my fav to date. TFTC.
As there was a break in the weather, Nahkins and I decided to chance it and go and search for the geocaches around Lake Ngaroto as well as the two new ones in Te Awamutu. The weather did deteriorate by the time we got to #9. Lots of smiles 13/13. #6. I got to this one. Thought I was going to get wet feet. We had over shot the mark too busy talking and as we walked back there was water on both sides of the boardwalk but as we got closer to GZ it became dry. I am really glad to find this. I was concerned at the warning about the lid. Now I know why. It is gorgeous. TFTC.
Its Been a while and now its time to catch up on all the logging that Ive put off to a rainy day (while it may not be raining, where we were heading the roads are still closed hence sitting here doing this).
These had been out a while and so today was the day for a wander around a lake that I, once upon a time, used to take the daughter when she was very small (used to end up carrying her about half way).
After so long it was incredible to see such a change from the muddy track that I recall that could disapear into a quagmire at the slightest rainfall.
Thanks for a great series of caches and the trip down memory lane. This circuit was immediatly followed by a picnic while watching the yachts on the lake.
Thanks for the trail and the effort going into to maintain them
