Took a while and nearly gave up but last look at the original spot and the hint we got it !
#14,753. I have been meaning to come up to Waikanae for a while and pick up more of the caches in this area which seem to be expanding at a rate faster than I am finding them. The weather forecast was for showers but actually just a few light dustings came through and the rest of the afternoon was fine. This one took a while to find. As often happens I checked the correct spot first but didn't look carefully enough. Then I checked other nearby spots including a post over the fence. Nothing there. Back to the starting point and a more thorough search and I had the cache in hand. Yay. Signed the logsheet and replaced the cache back where found. Thanks tmann421 for hiding it here. Hope you are recovering from recent traumatic events. Favourite from me for the effort involved getting these out.
This one had me going for a minute. I thought I'd got the right location but then while waiting for some cyclists to approach and pass I had another idea. Checking the cache rating I decided to go for the easier option which proved to be the correct one. All good at GZ and TFTC.
I was reading the previous logs and walked straight past.... Had to turn around another 50m which of course isn't far so I did. Not sure what I was anticipating but when I reached GZ I spotted something dangling and thought " wow, that's a new kind of cache container. Just on time before I grabbed it to open realised that this one IS real! Please be VERY careful at GZ unless you want to get stung. I've been apparently too close and feel like I had enough adventure so opted to leave immediately
I wrote some notes in my Handy-Dandy Notebook, but for this cache they didn't really mean anything. So I looked at it in Google Streetview - no dice there, hidden by trees. Hint? Wow. No idea what the hint means! I found most of these caches without the hint (including this one), and in fact didn't even know if they had hints!---I have been wanting to cycle the expressway trail since... since... long before the expressway was built, probably. And yesterday I realised that a) I had a free weekend, and b) nothing ever happens until it actually happens, so I put out a note to my group saying I know it's short notice, but I am doing this, does anyone want to tag along and to my surprise, TrinityNZ said yes. Turns out she has found most of them, for her it was more a cycle trip than a caching trip. My original plan was to train to Waikanae then bus to Otaki, then bike back at least to Paraparaumu, maybe further, but logistics around Trinity's bike meant we could not do that, so we cycled from Waikanae to Otaki and back. Trinity came a little further then returned to Waikanae, and I carried on to Paraparaumu and took the train back. Was a little worried it might all be cancelled as busses are replacing trains from Wellington to Porirua and Petone and sometimes the busses do not have bike carriers. One didn't but I only had to wait an additional 5 minutes. The other three were fine (two there, two back).Awesome day, possibly too much sun, little to no wind, nice and cruisey.
Good Friday, 2024. What a lovely day, so it was off walking the geo dog along the Expressway cycle way with the aim to find several more of Tmann421's caches along this route. Macfam41 found this one finally after some confusion. Sometimes, you get to a location and based on previous history, you assume what you are looking for and where you might find it instead of thinking more about the details in the description and the hint. That was the case here. I was sure I was at the correct location, but my bias stopped me looking in the right place. I was just about to leave then one last search and bugger me there it was just as the hint described. Nice hide/container. TFTC
#69 hint confused me at first but made sense in the end. Found on a day trip down to the west coast. TFTC
Great hide, very sneaky and we had to find it quick as we were losing light. TFTC

This one had me going for a bit, but it was my own fault, I parked my bike against the place the cache was and spent 5 minutes looking everywhere else!
I missed taking into account the cache title, that would have helped earlier on in the piece haha.

What started out as a typical Sunday, driving home to Wellington from Wanganui and collecting caches along the way, did not end so well for when my car got impounded (not for bad cache driving though). Fortunately I did find every cache I went looking for, and this was one of them.
Thanks to the CO for placing this cache and bringing me here.

Told the kids to bike on to the next cache and gave them how many metres they were supposed to stop at. They were pretty much spot on so that was a funny moment. TFTC
On a trip away with my sister, Mum & Dad and of course there’s no trip away without lots of Geocaching involved! We spent today biking along here then tomorrow we are off to the Zoo! Thanks for all the caches along here tmann421
On our way south and in 2 minds in doing this last peak but decided its a good way to get out for a day. Thanks for the placement.
#1756. On a wee caching binge in Waikanae to build up my November find numbers.
Walked along the cycleway to grab this one, the last of today's 6 finds. Spotted some rabbits frolicking in the paddock over the fence. Nice hide, good hint!

My back was a bit niggly before I started biking these caches. By the end it was fine. I just got up some speed, then had to pu the anchors on for this one. A nice quick find thanks.
Ms_KR and I are off on a wee tour of the North Island. A travel day from Palmerston North to Petone today. The weather was good for caching and biking, not too hot, cold, windy or wet.
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

A quick easy find, with a multitude of rabbits running around and across the path. TFTC
You are too cool TMann! Many thanks for setting this all up- will see if I can get to the end (and then back!) today
Thanks tmann421 for placing this cache
It was quickly found by my son plannerPat who hardly ever does an online log...far too many other things he'd rather be doing online but at least he came for a good walk today... and next we are heading for a tree-climbing cache
No muggles in sight at this one... TNLNSL TFTC

Out on a mission today to knock off a few of these Expressway Cycle / Walkway caches. A nice quick find of this cool little container after the short walk down the Walkway from the Ngarara bridge.

cycled along the shared pathway to GZ, an enjoyable ride here but then into the wind on the way home, no sign of the rain that was forecast, quick easy find here, TFTC
On my annual pilgrimage to Te Horo this morning with time to make a few finds before my appointment.
A short walk and a quick find. Wish I was on a bike. Nice cycleway.

A last minute decision by Mr Rattll to go to Waikanae meant Mrs Rattll was offered the opportunity to be dropped off somewhere for a bit of caching, so despite a marginal weather forecast, this trail was targeted.
It had started to rain by the time I reached here, which meant trying to hold an umbrella, the phone and search, which made things a lot more tricky.
The hint had me imagining all sorts of possibility's one of which turned out to be the actual cache container, which was nicely tucked out of sight.
Thanks for setting this up tmann421

And yet again you take what I was expecting, and do it just that little bit more effectively, TFTC.
Nice hide and as another cacher has mentioned, a verity of different cache containers. Well done CO.
For a long time we have wanted to get some smiley faces along this bike trail and these few days off in the camper were the very excuse we needed to do them. The ride was very enjoyable and very easy with just a little breeze. It was great to see such an array of different hides and to see some of the country side from a different angle. All hides appeared to be in good condition and the co ords were usually spot on
Many thanks for bringing us to this area

Enjoying a geocaching bike ride along the cycleway on a beautiful afternoon. Thanks tmann421 for another smiley.
One of ten caches located this afternoon, almost all whilst biking the trail beside the expressway. Lovely summery afternoon, great to be enjoying the outdoors. Took a couple of moments to find this one. #2047. TFTC.
I was in and around Waikanae today, so thought I'd take advantage of the opportunity to try for some caches away from home to get my numbers up towards the magic 1000 which I will be hoping will be the WENZ Mega event itself this coming Saturday.
There was only the very occasional cyclist using the track when I was there today, so I was able to locate the cache, extract and sign the log, and then replace it all as found at my leisure. The cache itself took a minute or two to locate, as I was initially searching on the wrong side of the path, but then the geo senses kicked in and the cache was in my hand shortly afterwards. I can report that all is fine with the container, although the logsheet was a little damp. But no problems with signing it.
Thank you for placing all your caches. I believe you have become the CO I've found the most caches of lol!

After being in Wgtn with grand kids and then staying a few nights with friends (Geocaching positive) in the kapiti area it was time to travel home and i thought id collect the last few that were handy on the expressway cycle way track.
I started here parked at the side and walked in the direction for this cache which was soon found, signed and replaced with no muggles any where around

Found as soon as we reached where the GPS said was the location. Quick and easy, clever cache container
Found during a very pleasant Sunday afternoon cycle on the EWY cycle/walk/ride path. My first use of this great new route.
Straightforward find on a second look, cache in order. Log signed, cache safely re-hidden, just as found.
TFTC I visited here with team cacher zboy wonder.
The Turtle strikes again!

Had to have two goes at finding this one, second time around, found it after investigating GZ a little more closely. TFTC
Gps was a bit off for us but we found it in the end. Had a good idea of what we were looking for. Tftc
Replaced the log but it was totally dry and less than half full in good condition.
A really enjoyable cycle ride with the EU Crew and drawp allowed us to collect a few caches en route. TFTC
Parked up at the end of Smithfield Road and headed southwest grabbing caches as I went. Another good hide. Thanks for the cache.
One would be suspicious but a whole pile is excellent. The log was sodden in its plastic bad so I left it out of the bag hoping it will dry in the summer heat.
Today I had decided to have a try to get most of the Expressway caches from Waikanae to Peke Peka before the forecasted nasty weather turns up.
Cheers for the cache.
Cheers for the cache.
In Paraparaumu for a tenpin bowling tournament. Had the bike in the car, parked near Peka Peka Road and biked down down this lovely Cycle / Walkway for nine finds and two DNFs. Thanks tmann421 for the cache
Out on a nice sunny winter's day with my wife for a bike ride of the Expressway cycle trail. This one nice and easy too.

Had to go to Otaki today and the weather was excellent, so I set aside some time to find some caches along the way. This was the second cut at the expressway caches; after having found the southern ones this morning I parked in Te Moana Road in Waikanae this afternoon and biked up and back to get the northern ones. A very pleasant and easy ride. Found the cache within seconds in the first place checked - a very realistic hide. Signed log, TFTC
The hint didn't give me any idea as to how this cache would be hidden but it all became clear when we arrived at ground zero. I hadn't seen one of this type before; it seems quite robust and should last a long time.
Found on a delightful cycle ride from Poplar Avenue to Pekapeka and return. An interesting ride and which will become quite plesant as the planting grow. TFTC
Cache # 3,765 - thankfully an instant find after a nearby DNF which took a lot of time. TNLNSL. TFTC!

Yes, found this one! Liked the hide, I had an idea what it could be. Thank you!
Thanks for the cache. This is our find number 710 and we found it at 11:57:32 AM NZST on 16 April 2017. Very nice hide.
Find #2753. Today was my first experience of the Kapiti Expressway cycle way. Arrived at Waikanae on the first train of the day out of Wellington and cycled up a very quiet (old) State Highway One to Pekapeka to join the cycle way.
No doubt there will be more caches appearing north of here (and further south) in due course - a good excuse to cycle this more than once!
Despite an inclement weather forecast, the day turned out to be very pleasant with plenty of others out enjoying the walk.
Went sailing past this one, distracted by the hill, so back tracked. Fifth find of the day. SL TFTC

I had to make an unplanned trip up the coast this morning so decided to check out these new caches while in the area. Cheers and TFTC
