Went for a wee stroll along the walkway and a couple of caches got in the way, so they just had to be found. Quick find here, and sorry to the previous finder, but no keys were seen. 1096Thanks tmann421
I thought I ad found this a couple of years ago but apparently forgot to log. No pen so a photo log instead. TFTC
#14,755. I have been meaning to come up to Waikanae for a while and pick up more of the caches in this area which seem to be expanding at a rate faster than I am finding them. The weather forecast was for showers but actually just a few light dustings came through and the rest of the afternoon was fine. Walked along the path to get to this one. A few bikes going past but was generally fairly quiet today. The cache was sitting exposed at GZ. Signed the logsheet and returned the container where found with some extra cover over the top. Thanks tmann421 for hiding it here.
Quick find with the cache being more out in the open than I'd expect! CO might want to check... All good at GZ and TFTC
Oh that was nearly too easy. Quite exposed but I guess what Muggle would go there. Couldn't see a way to hide it better and it looks like it was settled into that spot so replaced as found. Log in good shape, too. __________________This weekend we didn't manage to go out for a long walk as family because we had so much on. Monday mornings are usually daddy and Miss 4 year old swimming classes while Mama Fox does the necessary admin work and said admin work is PILING up. Laundry, dishes, letters, writing blog, wanting to do some canning and much more. But hey ho I wouldn't be able to do it all anyway so I decided for dad to drop me off somewhere so I can walk back home to then do my tasks. Drop off worked, caching was fun but nothing else got done Carpe Diem! And thanks for placing and maintaining all these caches to allow me to neglect the boring thing called life
Picked up some TBs here. Which immediately made me think darn - I left the two I have at home! Bugger. One of the TBs is one of Mar1sa's paracords. As a TB! Nice!!---I have been wanting to cycle the expressway trail since... since... long before the expressway was built, probably. And yesterday I realised that a) I had a free weekend, and b) nothing ever happens until it actually happens, so I put out a note to my group saying I know it's short notice, but I am doing this, does anyone want to tag along and to my surprise, TrinityNZ said yes. Turns out she has found most of them, for her it was more a cycle trip than a caching trip. My original plan was to train to Waikanae then bus to Otaki, then bike back at least to Paraparaumu, maybe further, but logistics around Trinity's bike meant we could not do that, so we cycled from Waikanae to Otaki and back. Trinity came a little further then returned to Waikanae, and I carried on to Paraparaumu and took the train back. Was a little worried it might all be cancelled as busses are replacing trains from Wellington to Porirua and Petone and sometimes the busses do not have bike carriers. One didn't but I only had to wait an additional 5 minutes. The other three were fine (two there, two back).Awesome day, possibly too much sun, little to no wind, nice and cruisey.
In logging the TBs here, I found a bug in the geocaching app with date processing. I have reported the bug, but as Geocaching are very Laissez-faire with date accuracy, I doubt it will get prioritised.
Good Friday, 2024. What a lovely day, so it was off walking the geo dog along the Expressway cycle way with the aim to find several more of Tmann421's caches along this route. Macfam41 didn't find this one, but to be fair, I didn't spend too much time searching as the location is grossly overgrown with the big gorse branch shielding what I expected to be GZ. Life's too short to be fight gorse to find a cache. I'll try again some other time.
#70 took longer to see than it should have...Found on a day trip down to the west coast. TFTC
**taybee** is caching again with **taybee nz** for the dayQuick find here today All in good order, sign log book as **taybee** or **tb** or ( **TNZ** or **taybee/nz** as *taybee and taybee nz joint sign* ) TFTC Cache was found at **16/09/2023 @ 14:43:00**
Today was Fathers Day, so I decided to take the boys for a ride out here (as they wanted to do a ride) and I wanted to do some caching, so decided to do both.. Most of these caches were relatively easily to find though the first bridge took us multiple attempts. Did with Mycro Man and Ezratar. This was a quick find.

I was playing leapfrog with a guy on a bike and his dog, he was having a rest just round the corner, luckily just out of view.
Quick find, although a hint would have confirmed it quicker haha
Added some spare waterproof logsheet.

It didn't take long to locate this one. Just in time too as quite a few cyclists passed just as I put it back. So the log book has been signed and the cache is nicely back in its place all ready for the next geo-hunter. Thanks heaps for taking the time to set up this cache. I really appreciate your efforts in doing so. TFTC
What started out as a typical Sunday, driving home to Wellington from Wanganui and collecting caches along the way, did not end so well for when my car got impounded (not for bad cache driving though). Fortunately I did find every cache I went looking for, and this was one of them.
Thanks to the CO for placing this cache and bringing me here.

Quick find while birds sang a relaxing song on one side, and cars swooshed past on the other. Thanks tmann421!
Here from Taranaki with my family on a cycling/sightseeing getaway. 70+ finds over the weekend so I have a lot of logging to do!

On a trip away with my sister, Mum & Dad and of course there’s no trip away without lots of Geocaching involved! We spent today biking along here then tomorrow we are off to the Zoo! Thanks for all the caches along here tmann421
On our way south and in 2 minds in doing this last peak but decided its a good way to get out for a day. Thanks for the placement. - have added a new temp log and bag
As per a previous comment, the log is a bit fragile due to moisture. Pretty tough to write on - still workable though - just - so not super urgent.
Out on the Expressway Cycle trail. Nice find for the first of the day. Log a little fragile. Tftc!
After a slight detour from the bike trail to get some other nearby caches, I'm back on the expressway trail, nice quick find here, cheers
My back was a bit niggly before I started biking these caches. By the end it was fine. Yay. Last on the trail, now to blast back for lunch. A nice quick find thanks.
Ms_KR and I are off on a wee tour of the North Island. A travel day from Palmerston North to Petone today. The weather was good for caching and biking, not too hot, cold, windy or wet.
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

Found Day 28 or 29 of our Covid19 lockdown. Quiet local bike ride for me. All is in order. TFTC
Out on a mission today to knock off a few of these Expressway Cycle / Walkway caches. Parked up at what is now the end of Smithfield Road for the short stroll to this cache. This area looks quite different from the photo (especially the red water) but the hint pretty much spelled things out as there was only really one place the cache could be. Heaps of rabbits round here too.

Nice to find this quickly in the first place I looked after my DNF at the expressway stream bridge, TFTC
On my annual pilgrimage to Te Horo this morning with time to make a few finds before my appointment.
My last one for the morning.
A quick find and sign and a hello to a couple of ducks on the pond.

A last minute decision by Mr Rattll to go to Waikanae meant Mrs Rattll was offered the opportunity to be dropped off somewhere for a bit of caching, so despite a marginal weather forecast, this trail was targeted.
The hiding place was quickly spotted and the container wiggled out of it's little nook. There was even a conveniently placed rock to sit on to complete the formalities, so I didn't look too out of place as a muggle cycled past.
I left a pet rock - a kiwi.
Thanks for setting this up tmann421

A nice and easy one but the sharp grass alongside cut my arm! Thanks CO for the series.
For a long time we have wanted to get some smiley faces along this bike trail and these few days off in the camper were the very excuse we needed to do them. The ride was very enjoyable and very easy with just a little breeze. It was great to see such an array of different hides and to see some of the country side from a different angle. All hides appeared to be in good condition and the co ords were usually spot on
Many thanks for bringing us to this area

I will indeed carry spare pens as it seems bkj97 has a habit of dropping them between caches. T4TCSL
For the second time this week I dropped our prn somewhere at the previous cache. Note to self.....get little blue hen to carry a spare, or two. Photo of log attached. T4tc
Enjoying a geocaching bike ride along the cycleway on a beautiful afternoon. One of the more straight forward finds along the way, thanks tmann421.
One of ten caches located this afternoon, almost all whilst biking the trail beside the expressway. Lovely summery afternoon, great to be enjoying the outdoors. Quick find. #2048. TFTC.
I was in and around Waikanae today, so thought I'd take advantage of the opportunity to try for some caches away from home to get my numbers up towards the magic 1000 which I will be hoping will be the WENZ Mega event itself this coming Saturday.
There was only the very occasional cyclist using the track when I was there today, so I was able to locate the cache, extract and sign the log, and then replace it all as found at my leisure. The cache itself found quickly, as it certainly was pretty obvious where it might be. I think the local arachnids like the location too lol! Once I had the container to myself, the contents were extracted. The log was signed, and the TB found was removed to be taken down to WENZ.
Thank you for placing all your caches. I believe you have become the CO I've found the most caches of lol!

Great day for a walk and a hunt for some caches. First one today nice and easy find.
A very late log as i have only just realised that it has not been logged with the others that i found when staying down in the area for a few days when i did the one way bridge one and the one by the water tank before walking along the walkway to the pine tree one etc etc
thanks you for the cache,
thanks you for the cache,
Well hidden in the obvious place which I should of checked first, it took me a bit longer than usual checking the less obvious places, d'oh!

Interesting cache, didn't understand the hint that much but still a quick and easy find
Found during a very pleasant Sunday afternoon cycle on the EWY cycle/walk/ride path. My first use of this great new route.
Straightforward find, cache in order. Log signed, cache safely re-hidden, just as found.
TFTC I visited here with team cacher zboy wonder.

Disturbed a jimminy cricket finding this one. Perhaps they were escaping the Auckland rat race? TFTC
A really enjoyable cycle ride with the EU Crew and drawp allowed us to collect a few caches en route. TFTC
Parked up at the end of Smithfield Road and headed southwest grabbing caches as I went. No problems tracking this one down but cleverly hidden. Thanks for the cache.
Today I had decided to have a try to get most of the Expressway caches from Waikanae to Peke Peka before the forecasted nasty weather turns up.
The obvious place .
Cheers for the cache.

In Paraparaumu for a tenpin bowling tournament. Had the bike in the car, parked near Peka Peka Road and biked down down this lovely Cycle / Walkway for nine finds and two DNFs. Thanks tmann421 for the cache
Nice day for a winter walk with the dogs, nice straight forward find!! I'm getting better at this! TFTC!!
Out on a nice sunny winter's day with my wife for a bike ride of the Expressway cycle trail. This one nice and easy too.

Three of us went biking along here (about 10 days ago)... this one was quite straightforward - no wet feet required - great to have a new trail to cache along!
There were very few others on the trail that evening so we didn't get muggled at any of these caches.
Thanks for the cache tmann421

Cache # 3,812 - a very quick find at a quiet GZ tonight. - well quiet on the walkway. Felt very exposed to the traffic on the expressway here, but presume (hope?) that all the drivers were far too intent on getting home to pay attention to a lone geocacher on the nearby walkway. TNLNSL. TFTC!

Had to go to Otaki today and the weather was excellent, so I set aside some time to find some caches along the way. This was the second cut at the expressway caches; after having found the southern ones this morning I parked in Te Moana Road in Waikanae this afternoon and biked up and back to get the northern ones. A very pleasant and easy ride. The cache was a very quick find - signed log, TFTC
This was a nice simple find to open our account for the day after a couple of misses at other locations.
Found on a delightful cycle ride from Poplar Avenue to Pekapeka and return. An interesting ride and which will become quite plesant as the planting grow. TFTC
Thanks for the cache. This is our find number 712 and we found it at 12:19:01 PM NZST on 16 April 2017. Nice hide.
In full view of the expressway traffic here but found straight away so no probs. You can see muggles approaching for miles. TFTC.
Nice easy find, TFTC this was the only one we managed to get today... Too many cyclists about, we'll be back for the others when its less busy
Find #2751. Today was my first experience of the Kapiti Expressway cycle way. Arrived at Waikanae on the first train of the day out of Wellington and cycled up a very quiet (old) State Highway One to Pekapeka to join the cycle way.
No doubt there will be more caches appearing north of here (and further south) in due course - a good excuse to cycle this more than once!
Despite an inclement weather forecast, the day turned out to be very pleasant with plenty of others out enjoying the walk.
Third find of the day. SL TFTC
