Visiting the Adelaide region for a week from Port Macquarie. Today was a very long and somewhat arduous day, starting with an early morning walk around Glenelg before heading out towards the hills, Hahndorf, and Mount Barker. We then finished it off by targeting as many caches on our to-do list as we could before making it back to Glenelg just on dark for some gelati. Overall, it was a mostly successful caching day and are thoroughly enjoying our visit to Adelaide thus far.Definitely has seen better days, but a find is a find. Thanks for the cache
Not so Great HideCache is definitely broken. I poured out the cache juice. Definitely need some TLC.Thanks GalaxyQuest2 for the cacheJames0116Saturday, 24 Aug 20249:04:20AM ACST4747
Found today with Bushnik.Log inside was saturated so we signed and put a fresh one in but unfortunately I didnt have spare plastic bag.TFTC!
South Australia - Adelaide day 4... Brief visit in Victor Harbour for obvious reasons... Webcam...On my way back I've picked up this cache. It was on my "to do" list as a last missing month to complete year 2002! Done and dusted!Very hard access to GZ due to rainfall but I've managed it safely. GPS spot on! Container is damaged as mentioned already and logbook is soaked. Took a picture of it as a proof of my visit.I'm logging this hide as my 10585 find. Many thanks Team Galaxy Quest for a placement.
And on the seventh dayThe best cure for Post Leap Day Blues (yes ,thats a real thing) is to either: a) Get up at 5:30am to go caching including an event in a new LGA or b) Sleep in until 10am and go shopping SQUIRM managed to do both Thanks GalaxyQuest2
Day 8 of SQUIRMs adventures around South Australia and with only 2 days left theres still some targets to get. We are in the hills targeting challenges and anything else we step over. We found a way through the fence and then down to GZ. Unfortunately the cache lid has a hole in it and there was water in the cache. Tftc GalaxyQuest2Find #5734
Found in our group of six Queenslanders unsupervised in Radelaide mega'ing. Stacey is touring us around Adelaide picking up some stragglers. All logs signed or stamped as SQUIRM. Thanks for the cache GalaxyQuest2
TFTC! 27 February 2024 4:56:50pm 7402 thanks to GalaxyQuest2 for the cache! Off to the Great Leap Tear Mega in Adelaide. A stop off along the way!
Today I was in Crafers to watch the Your Down Under. I arrived early to get a good park. While waiting I decided to grab a few caches.

Found easily once closer to GZ. I used the fallen tree to get there and back. I'm sure my first pair of ripped pants won't be my last!
Finding a park was made more difficult than it needed to be.

Out on this cooler afternoon to make a good start on 2022. A little tricky on the approach but once at GZ, I soon had the cache in hand. TFTC team galaxy quest!
Took a while to get access to the cache location. Took advantage of the fallen tree over the fence on the way back to the car.
Thanks Team Galaxy Quest for the hide.

Went with cousin for his second geocache and one of us made the fence climb. 2 in one day.

With a last-minute decision to head to Cleland this morning with my mountain bike, I decided to call past a few geocaches. I had ridden down the Attunga Track followed by the Chinamans Hut Track to get a first find on a geocache, and then had ridden back taking a few further detours to find a few in that central area. Hence, I tacked on the St. Michaels Spur Track and the Ewok 2 walking track, before then walking my bike back up the steeper terrain back to my car. It had been drizzling on/off, and was probably more of a consistent drizzle during the morning. A few kangaroos spotted, and some nice views of a few waterfalls and surrounding hills (when the fog/clouds cleared).
This cache had been on my target list due to its age: an oldie 07/2002 hidden cache. However, previous times over the years riding past, I couldn't deduce the right access. An erected fence appeared to be blocking the direct way from the road down the hill. Today, I parked alongside, and decided to follow the fence up to where it started, following the hill's terrain whilst being on the other side of the fence. That seemed to be ok, and once I got close to GZ, I started searching around, and within five minutes, I located the cache. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. I managed to then find a shortcut from GZ back to my car via a fallen trunk that had squashed the fence. Thanks Team Galaxy Quest for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance. Glad to have found this one, and see this oldie still alive.

I have been past this cache many times but never stopped, tonight with no traffic around made the quick stop and scramble up the hill, great to find this oldie.
With the days slowly getting longer, this evening called for a walk around Cleland collecting some caches. Even after living in Adelaide for 1.5 years I got to see my first wild koala since being here.

An afternoon picking up a few caches in the area. Have been through this area plenty of times, but I either was not caching or only looking for driveby’s so these caches got left for another day. Today was a day however to find a few caches that required a bit more of a walk. All caches were found in good condition.

I think I know where it is, but on such a rainy day, I am not comfortable climbing over stuff. Not the best spot for geocache hides though.
I don’t think I came in from the best direction, but managed my way over the fallen tree and soon found the cache. It’s good that the oldies are kept going. TFTC
On a midweek escape staying nearby, I left the princess sleeping and headed out into the early morning mist to snare this one. Very tricky terrain, slippery underfoot in the fog, and prickly bushes decided the non direct route to the cache. Rounded the massive tree to locate the well maintained cache. Thanks for hiding this one.
Another wonderful caching adventure with mogni. This time the objective was to attempt some of the oldest caches in South Australia. This was an ambitious plan as many of the chosen caches involved quite a bit of hiking, sometimes in difficult terrain; and Mr and Mrs M don't fit the mold of your typical hikers. By the end of the day the tally was 6 fantastic caches and one cache of opportunity. As we traveled home the conversation turned to all our accumulated aches and pains. Irrespective of this, our smiles were wide as we had wound back the clock and enjoyed caching history.
He hardest part of this cache was working out where to park, closely followed by working out what was the best approach. We had read the previous logs and made our way to ground zero with a replacement cache in hand. As we approached we saw the cache, open, with it's contents spread around on the ground. Unfortunately the original logs were not recoverable. We are happy to report that this cache has a new container and log book. TFTC Team Galaxy Quest.

So Aussie M & M and I have started to target the older caches around Adelaide and this one made the hit list today. Having read the previous logs we came armed with a new cache container and log book. A bit of an adventure getting to GZ and we did watch our step so we didn't fall and we didn't knock any rocks down the hill either.
Thanks to GalaxyQuest2 from mogni

Sad to see it’s in very bad shape. Quite tricky to find from the high side. Nowhere very easy to park to get to it, not very near walking trails.
It really does need replacing ASAP

This was more difficult to find than I thought and the pay off wasn’t worth it. As the comments read it was water logged and mouldy. Still a bit of fun though
Found it with difficulty just to find that it’s absolutely recked and muddy as? Needs maintenance TFTC

A proper bike ride !! [:o]
No putting around the flatlands ...
... I finally ground meself up the hill to Crafers
I thought I may as well head off into the scenery to find this cache
Ooops !!! Wrong side
A second attempt proved much more risky and found me the cache
Oooooh !!! Yuuuukkkk !!!
What an 'orrible mess [:o]
This cache needs some TLC [:X]
I did manage to scribble me name on the plastic cover of one of the mouldy logbooks
So ... TFTC.

Found after a day shopping. Agree with previous cacher, this needs some attention. Log quite mouldy. TFTC TNLNSL
came up here chasing a game piece tb, this was found on route to said tb. Well I understand the cache name now. cache condition poor, lid not sealing and log book getting mouldy.
Found it today but needs maintainence.
The log is wet and mouldy and the lid no longer seals properly. Too wet to sign.

Approached this one from the high side, hence had to negotiate the fence. Slippery on a wet afternoon, but found the cache easily. Contents were waterlogged, soggy and mouldy - unable to sign the log book - is in need of repair
Good hunt, needs a little TLC, it helps to be on the right side of fence. Log too damp to sign
Even with 4 water sealed bags the log books were a mess! Waterlogged 100%. Needs immediate attention. I couldn't sign the log so a pic will prove the find . Found after a bit of a search with lots of Quartz nearby lol. TFTC, GalaxyQuest
Quick diversion on my way from Murray Bridge to Adelaide. As previous finders have noted the contents were very damp. Thanks GalaxyQuest2 for the hide!!!
We had a giggle getting to this one. Container has leaked a bit, so a little damp and mouldy inside. Tidied as best as could. TFTC
We had looked for this cache a couple of years ago but without success. As we turn off the expressway at Crafers to go to our son's home, this cache kept appearing on our radar to the point where it had become very annoying. We decided to head back today to take another look. A cyclone wire fence created an access challenge but this was overcome. Once near GZ, we were able to make a quick find. The cache, unfortunately, was very wet inside and is in urgent need to attention. Thanks GlaaxyQuest2 for the cache.
Tricky to get to, Cache full of water. Log wet. Did best to wrap to prevent further damage but needs maintenance.
Tfct it was a bit hard at first but my daughter and I found it in the end. We dropped the car at James St and walked from there. Found this one without any GPS reception.
2nd find on the hills morning bike ride.
Cache contents still wet. CO should consider repositioning cache. It's been placed under rocks against a small ledge, would be under a small natural waterfall when it rains.

Went on a morning walk and found it quickly having overcome that old fence.
TFTC - probably not recommended for kids although Mr 7 and Miss 6 were keen but we left it up to Dad after the fence!
After a nearby FTF hunt this was the closest unfound so of course I had to come for a look.
Found a safe park not too far from GZ. Having read previous logs went looking for a compromised fence, having long legs here helped but then it got steep. On the flat it wasn't long before a cache was found and, thanks to -BlackSheep-, a dry log book was signed.

Found with 3LG caching the hills area. Not as freaky as expected would be. TFTC
Today we celebrate our 29th wedding anniversary so the goal was to find 29 caches, we set of towards Mt Lofty area to do a few caches through there and surrounding areas, the weather was perfect today, we grabbed earthlight on the way and we all had a great day caching, we did manage 29 caches and we weren't rushing as there was no problems if we didn't find that many, we parked safely up and around the corner and walked back to the cache, now to work out how to get to the cache as there is a fence for as far as i can see, hmmmm maybe that squashed part will do, it would have been funny if someone filmed my silly attempt to get across it but i managed it in the end all fumbley, made my way to GZ and looked at the obvious spot to find no cache, expanded the search and soon had cache in hand, great views up through this area. TFTC
This is NOT easy to get to. I parked a way up the road in one of the few areas I was able to and strolled down to GZ. Then had the fence to deal with although it has been 'lowered' by many previous finders and wasn't difficult. A steep and slippery slope but I soon had the cache in hand. Left a new log book in a zip lock bag. I didn't even bother trying to sign either of the others based on previous logs and the damp, musty smell. I was sprung climbing back over the armco rail as I left here however I got a big smile and a friendly wave from the 'muggle'(?) that caught me. I guess the locals know about this? The container probably should be swapped out for something more water proof however it will be fine for the remaining summer season. Cool spot, TFTC
Found on a rainy day. Both log books are wet and I was unable to sign. I have taken photo as proof that I found it.
Cheers

Quite a pleasant location once reached by foot. Was a bit disappointed to find the cache full of water and the logbook mushy, sorry I hadn't read the logs or I would have replaced the cache. Nevertheless, TFTC GalaxyQuest2!
Could the next finder bring a new container and logbook? It's good caching karma if you do!
Hi Galaxy Quest2. Visited your cache today. All log books are sodden - totally unusable. Sorry was not carrying a replcement.
As I was in the area completing some cache maintenance,
and did some much neglected caching in the Stirling area.
The weather was in a strange mood today, but managed to behave it's self while out caching.
Parked on the corner of Wommaminta Drive and Shurdington road,
and had to be very wary due to parent ducks enjoying the sun on the road with their brood.
Walked the same way I did previously, had to really watch my feet.
Compass was a bit jumpy, but checked a likely spot & was rewarded.
As previous logs have confirmed, the cache requires some maintenance.
As I didn't pack an extra bag with fresh cache, log & pen I drained the container,
but didn't sign the log as it was non-assignable.
Thanks for the cache GalaxyQuest2
