Out and about today exploring the Buckland Valley with Grannan55 and Geodogs. The Halls have lived in the Buckland Valley for generations. What a story these yards could tell. All good here. Now, onto the next one for the day. TNLN TFTC
Out doing a big maintenance run - mainly in the Buckland Valley but checking a few others along the way.The furthest one we visited today. Harrowang had mentioned log sheet getting full (12 months ago) so we checked it whilst out this way. Left a fresh log book and all is good here.
Checked this cache as we passed by. There are about 9 spots left on the log book. Cache dry and in good condition. Quite a few potholes in the road just here.
Used to have a photo of this joint in the building was there nothing left of it now thank you for bringing us here another bit of history lost
On our way to Bright for the weekend, via Wang (not our usual route) picking up a very caches along the way. Decided to spend our first afternoon exploring the Buckland Valley.
Few cows in the yard today!

A geocache outing into the Upper Buckland for 22/2/22. Pretty drive and interesting history. All is well with the cache. TFTC!
The last prior to the drive home. The cache was found in good condition with spot on coords. Thanks to BettyBoo3747 for the placement, fun and adventure.
Last time we were here, we found the corrugations on this road unsuitable for our small motorhome. We preferred to keep the furniture attached to the van, rather than having it shaken off. This time we brought Mrs Varmint's car which handled it much more easily.
Although the weather was forecast to be quite crappy, we were lucky enough to experience a glorious, sunny day. Cache found in good condition.
Thanks BettyBoo3747.

There was a bull in the pen, awaiting a retrieval, he wasn't impressed with me hanging around to grab the cache! I was able to grab and take a quick photo (@empiregeocaching on Insta!). Thanks for the cache BettyBoo3747.

Quick trip up the Buckland Valley to grab a few caches and a boot load of branches for tonight’s fire. Up for the long weekend. Magnificent weather!!!
Love a good cattle yard!!

We ventured into the Buckland Valley in search of a campsite and grabbed a few caches on our way back out. Found in the 2nd place we looked. Tftc BettyBoo3747
On this magnificent winters day, the sun was shining bright in the sky, the whole OSHFAM clan including geo Babcia and geo dog Agent Roxy on board for a drive out to the Buckland Valley to check on our most favourite camp spot at Camp Flat after the recent bushfires. It's our first time back here since last year due to bushfires and now COVID-19.
After checking out further up the Valley, we were making our way back down again when we stopped here. With everyone staying put in the car, I jumped out to grab this cache which was easily found in good condition.
The gates here have certainly been upgraded since we saw them last.
Thank you for the cache here BettyBoo3747

A big thank you to Harrowang for checking my caches along this section of road today. Although the cattle yards have been renovated all is well with the cache and it is in its original hiding place. All good here.

Looks like there has been some work done to the yards, so the cache may have been moved but the farmer has left it placed in an okay spot? Maybe...

A great little cache along a scenic route. I love this place. Buckland valley is stunning. So glad some fellow cachers have brought me here. Tftc
A golden autumn day to finally venture further up the Buckland and explore the relics reminders and history of times gone by and tough times lived by the early settlers and Chinese battling so many odds. It’s that time of day when the golden glow suggests it’s time to head home. TFTC !
[:(!] Thanks for an awesome effort.

A long weekend and for months I'd planned to go to St Arnaud and then..... [|)][xx(] Sometimes it is just too hard to make a decision[|)][xx(] Along came dalerious who suggested St Arnaud on the 26th and then straight to Mt Buffalo after that As much as I'd wanted go to St Arnaud to see my SA friends who were there for the weekend, I just didn't have the capacity[|)][xx(] for that much driving. So we ended up going straight to Mt Buffalo as dalerious had a cave/underground creek cache he wanted to find and with rain predicted tonight doing that cache immediately seemed a safer idea [^]
This was in some ways an amazing weekend as I got to see and drive parts of the HIgh Country that I had never been to before [^] The only down side was that my anxiety was through the roof [|)][xx(] and so poor dalerious had to cope with my being pretty well non functioning which meant that something as simple as driving required huge mental effort and so it was a very slooooow weekend although dalerious did find his underground creek cache while Rex and I were safety officers. The 2 rangers that came up to speak to me about Rex were pleased when showed them his paperwork as they said that no one else had ever shown them any paperwork.
From Mt Buffalo we then headed off towards 4 newly published caches and at about 23:15 we got FTF on one (the HVPT Monument) before we set up on the side of the road to sleep [|)][|)] Turned out my 2nd hand stretcher tent was deer proof [?] but it was not rain proof and the storm that came across about 1:30am complete with lightening, thunder and lots of rain had me back inside Harry for the night when I ended up lying in a pool of water in my bed [:(!][xx(]
The morning was cloudy and the clouds and fog were around us as well as below us while we had a nice warm breakfast [^] then hit the track again to get to an event on time.
The next day after attending Dunmowin's farewell event we dried our sleeping bags at a laundromat in Bright. That night, we camped at Ah Young's campground after[^], for the 2nd night in a row , picking up a hitch hiking gentleman who was camping at Ah Young's and dropping him at his tent [^]
Although we did cachenap him on the 2nd night as we still had a cache or two to find [^] before we got to Ah Young's and so we dragged him with us!
On the last morning we found a few nearby caches and then made the dash for home as dalerious had work at 3pm
All up I found 20 caches and attended 1 event and then ended the weekend by finding a HSS cache that we had DNF'd on a previous trip.
As I have been about 8 months behind in logging, I'm resorting to template logs to catch up.
My heartfelt thanks to the COs who have placed some tricky, funny, exercise required, scary, interesting and devious caches in some amazing spots! [^]
Rex and I have had some amazing adventures and enjoyed some incredible moments thanks to this fantastic hobby
Sad to be leaving this area but a stockyard cache always makes me smile

Nice quick easy find by Mrs Sparra. Great old farm yards. SL TFTC. Left a few more swaps for the kids. Great views up this valley and some very nice and rich country. But I bet cold in the winter. In Bright for the weekend to see all the spring blossoms. Cheers.
A quick P&G as I headed back to Mount Buffalo. I pondered if I’d like to live in this valley.... I decided on maybe spending a lot of time here moreso than living. Beautiful spot!

After a full extended weekend caching around Beechworth and Mt Buffalo, we stopped by this cache on the way home from the Night In The Valley event up the road at Ah Youngs. Yes these yards have certainly seen better days, but they would probably still do the trick if they had to. TFTC BettyBoo3747
A weekend adventure including hiking Mt. Feathertop for an overnight stay then back down before heading across to Mt. Buffalo for some more fun.
Found the cache while heading to our camp site.
Thanks for the cache.

Travelling from one event in Wadonga to another at Buckland with Cybergran V when we passed by here with just enough time for one last find.
Cybergran V guessed it's location from the passenger seat in the car and it was my turn for a quick retrieval even without my glasses lost earlier in the day.
TFTC BettyBoo3747.
As always....Sorry for the late log. Would you believe I am actually catching up.

What a wonderful weekend in the Vic High Country, as Jacko, Timmo and I headed north-east to meet up with fellow adventurers for some crazy geocaching expeditions. Mt Feathertop and Mt Buffalo were our main target areas, and the adventures included technical tree climbs, camping, overnight hikes, serious elevation changes, cave swims, underground rivers, and a whole lot of fun!
After spending the day caving around Mt Buffalo we made our way to the campground along Buckland Valley.
The convoy stopped here for "just one more". In this case it was just this one before we finally settled for the night.
The structure may have seen better days, but the cache was in top condition!
Thanks, BettyBoo3747.

Find #9102
Along with a few others from the camping crew for tonights Event in the Buckland Valley, we stopped along the way for a few quick drive by's. A nice quick find here.
I had stopped here before but a combination of muggles and not having the cache details in my phone meant no find. Today, ThePacman made the find and we were on our way again.
Many thanks to BettyBoo3747 for the cache. TNLN.

Travelling from the Come & Visit Parkville in November, 2018 event at Wodonga, we travelled south in this direction picking up a few caches on route. This was our last one after we'd tackled the first 25 of the High Voltage Trail and headed to the Night In The Valley event in Buckland Valley.
The weather was quite hot by the time we left Wodonga and became progressively hotter by the time we reached here.
I pointed out to dalerious where I reckoned the cache was, and he quickly located it for the signing of the log.
Thanks for bringing us here, now I’m kicking myself for not taking a photo for a GA cache - I’m going to have to get one on a return visit.
Having come from a farm background I’ve spent many hours pushing sheep and cattle up yards like this to transport them on cattle trucks, so these stockyards bring memories flooding back to me.

Beautiful little drive along this road. The sheep crossings are a classic. Barrelling along - next thing about 100 sheep slowly wandering across the road. C'mon guys!
Thanks BettyBoo - this one has seen better days. I hope however it remains for histories sake.

Now after enjoying the lovely Mt Buffalo it was time to head down to tonight's campsite and toward Jack83's event down at the campsite. As we slowly drove down the mountain Ahomburg, SedgewickDave and I enjoyed listening to my favourite podcast. And as we grew closer to the campsite the first car pulled over and we thought what was wrong........ of course a park and grab. So off I went and soon enought the cache itself was found and signed. Anyways thanks for the cache and the fun little adventure.
On our way up the Buckland for the event in the valley tomorrow night. Pulled up in the van for a few quick finds.
Thanks for another smilie BettyBoo

Out this morning with A_J_T hoping to get some unloved on a nearby cache. It would have been wrong not to stop here and find this cache. Cache was found quickly, log signed and returned. TFTC BettyBoo3747.
Rolling along with Lex, Bingley and Philipp, we stopped to spy this cache. Tucked away nicely, the cache was a straight forward find in good nick. Some trinkets dropped off and logs entered and were on our way.
Thanks BettyBoo for stopping us to take in history of the Buckland Valley.

Out doing maintenance today, came as far down the Buckland as this cache.
For a cache that hasn't been done much there were some very suspicious Bingley shaped footprints to GZ.
A very nice spot, but apart from the human footprints, it doesn't look like any cattle have been here for a while.
Thanks, Robmc.

An easy one, drove past with Skullracing and crew, dropped off trackable! TFTC!
One of the benefits of working in Victoria is they declare a public holiday for the opening of an envelope, and this months holiday was for a football game, so as a result I have the day off, which means one thing......
Off to the high country for some mischief....
So on my way to said mischief, I pulled the big, still dirty, Prado to a halt and jumped out for a bit of a look. Well, as usual, I had my stoopid "should be embarrassed to call itself a GPS" house brick pointing the way to god knows where, so as usual, I put it away and used the old eyes instead.
Turns out the old eyes still work and I found the cache in the last place I looked, and signed my life away in the book.
Then it was off in a cloud of dried mud to beat myself to death walking up steep hills.....
Thanks Libby for the interesting cache.

#2656 Most of us have seen better days (as Mr BGF does a few stretches on the back and knee before descending on gz . Having said that, you won't find a better day in the month of July in the great outdoors of North East Vic, just spectacular! We soon spotted the cache near the deteriorating yards and made our mark on the log book. Thanks again BB.
A foggy start to our day as we made our way to the Buckland Valley this morning. As the sun broke through, the autumn colours came to life and thus the stunning countryside. Found the cattle yards that have seen better days and took some photos of the area. SL at 10.30am #4581TFTC BB -we love visiting this Valley and today the light was perfect for capturing the scenery. Favourite point given.
Day 2 of our week in the North East based at Bright and, on doing a leisurely read of the caches in this area, l was surprised to find that this one may have FTF potential. Told Carleen and we leapt into the car and headed down the Buckland Valley. No speed limits broken but we were soon at the spot. I did my usual Jemima Puddleduck stunt and whilst heading back to get a pen, l heard the dreaded "Got it " Horror, not FTF. How come? Ah, my offline list on my tablet was 5 days old. Never mind, nice drive, good spot, and nice to get our first today.
**Find #1008**
With a planned holiday at Porpunkah for a week I had been researching caches in the area, And this one had popped up recently. I kept a watch on it and as luck would have it after 2 weeks no one had found it. We setup camp at a local carvan park and getting close to sunset we headed off to grab a possible ftf.
After a Drive of 300km for the day to the caravan park and then to GZ we got the gold medal for a {ftf}. Grabbed the TB. Very happy and lucky to snare this one. It was dark by the time we left and we will return another day and cache along this road again.
Thanks **BettyBoo3747.** Tftc.
