Find # 14169I'm in the Adelaide area for the Great Leap Forward event. Not just for the days event, but making it a week long trip of caching n catching up with mates.Flying solo......Day 8. Homeward-bound.Day started off with a tree climb and a big stretch off the ground. Then a bit of a look around Mt Barker. Then it was the trails. It's been a while since I've hit a long trail and being alone it was just me and the caches to fill the rest of the day in. Some power trails are tougher than others, ie parking locations and barriers can be annoying and chew up time. But happily I managed all hurdles. Even the odd orb spider that made some tracks mazes. Happily that what I'd pland out fell into place with only a couple of DNFs.End of day was a surprise with my biggest solo grab of over 300 in a day. But I have plenty more trails in SA to utilise if I want to better that score TFTC Darknstormy

Day 15 of our loop through Vic and SA then home.

Today we are on the move from Tailem Bend to Loxton. fitzy_1965, albida33 & I headed out early to get some of the Wandering Heroes before we had to leave the caravan park.

Our aim was to collect anything of interest along the way before we set up camp at Loxton. We stopped at Karoona, Borrika & Alawoona. Signed as MAF or FAM to save room.

All caches were found quickly and easily unless otherwise mentioned.

20-Apr-23
Southern Autumn adventure Day 16. Post Mega South East SA trip Day 10. Having mostly finished around Tailem Bend, we were traveling to Loxton today. Before we left we went out and did a bit of the Wandering Heroes trail, just so we did not get to Loxton too early. That was not really a problem, with plenty of single caches and a few interesting ones to be found along the way at Karoonda, Borrika and Alawoona. Today's group is Fitzy_195, MinnieK and albida33 and logs were signed F.A.M. or similar.

Thanks for the cache DarknstormyImages

Rutherglen Mega and South Australia Trip Day 15. Today we headed out early to grab some more of the Wandering Heroes series before checking out of the camp ground and heading up to Loxton for the next part of our caching holiday. It was yet another great fun day of caching. This was the next find of the day, and a quick find once at GZ. Signed, replaced, and then we headed off to the next one on the list.

Thanks to all the COs who put out and maintain the Wandering Heroes series !!

TFTC DarknstormyImages for your cache Wandering Heroes.. Team Holden that we found today.
WE are camped at the Football Oval for a few days exploring and caching around the area. Today the plan was to head along the Kulda Road finding Wandering Hero caches. We got to Martin Road and then detoured as the traffic along the road was getting a bit much for us. All caches found in good nick and pretty accurate co-ordinates.

Find count : 15772

Another cache find on our 2022 South Australian Adventure. We started this series in 2014, today we are back to try to finish what we started just over 8 years ago. The standard of the cache creations in this series is impressive.

We are enjoying our time travelling SA. Fantastic towns, ruins, beaches and cliffs & wine. Thanks to all the COs for taking us on this geo-guided tour.

Borders are open (sorta) and Christmas is fast approaching so this can only mean one thing, WATBAC returns to SA to spend time with family and friends. This can also only mean one thing, that a caching day out with my geomum, Doctor Owl, was long overdue and very much needed (because apparently I am not great at finding time to go caching otherwise). So I sent a text to let Doctor Owl know that I was in town and Doctor Owl let me know that she had some maintenance to do on some of her Wandering Heroes caches. Perfect, there are a lot of them that I haven't done (in that I had previously only done about 10). So off we went...

"I'm not jumping a fence," said Doctor Owl. "Me either," I replied, "My fence jumping days are behind me". Evidentally we had not read the description well (or at all, if we are honest) because the next sentence was "Oh, there it is". Barely had to get out of the car for this one. TFTC.

22-Dec-21
Owl's geodaughter WATBAC was in town and this means caching! Owl had maintenance to do and an ever-increasing Wandering Heroes cache list to find so this was an obvious choice. A hot day so they took it easy and didn't even come close to finishing. However, the maintenance was done, WATBAC did her 700th cache and a good day was had by all. Owl pulled up and commented that they better not need to jump the fence - but they didn't!

Caching with the JAMS crew finding Wandering Heroes caches. We ended up finding over 300 and hiding 2 more. We replaced a lot of containers that were broken. We had a few showers of rain early which were getting us wet but they didn't last too long and it ended up being a nice day. Thanks to all the cache owners for placing the caches.

14-Nov-21

Out with the JAMS crew JJ52, Mogni, Allister W and sir_spectre, plus TallBikeStan and BratKat on this run. The logs where stamped as Mystery Randoms. The target's today where the Wander Heros trail ( as far as we could get ) plus any other caches in the towns or close to the road and the nearby Lab cache in Karoonda. We got slowed down by the rain till almost lunch. No wildlife sighted, not even a kanagroo. We found over 300 + caches, some of us had found some of them before but we are aligning all of our maps to the same finds. We replaced over 40 wandering heroes caches we found broken, most logbooks where dry and put in the new cache. Any logsbooks found close to full had a scroll added to the cache and all broken caches we removed and put in the bin. By the end of the day we had over a garage bag full of broken caches.

14-Nov-21
Another JAMS day was organised to tackle the Wandering Heroes trail (JJ52, allister w, mogni, sir_spectre plus tallbikestan and BratKat). We started the day with rain and hail as we drove through the hills towards Tailem Bend but by the time we started the series we just had a couple of light showers and then for the rest of the day it was fine although we had strong cool winds. Surprised

That didn't stop us though, and we had a fun day finding around 300 caches plus an Adventure Lab in Karoonda. Cool We had come prepared with lots of spare containers and replaced a heap of broken containers and sometimes logbooks. We managed to get to Sandalwood where we called it a day, so now have plans to come back and completed the last of the series. Big Grin

This was my first visit out here since 2016 and by the end of the day I had 197 finds plus the Adventure Lab which I was pretty happy about. Big Grin

Thanks for the cache Darknstormy. Smile

We spent a couple of hours driving to Karoonda and grabbing any Wandering Heroes caches that have been published since our last visit and then completing the caches including the Lab cache around the nice little mallee town.
We loved the beautiful artwork on the silos and were very impressed by the facilities around town.
The playground and Pioneer Park are very impressive for such a small place.
Many thanks for the cache DarknstormyImages

This evening, I decided to make the drive to Tailem Bend to attend the CITO event, hosted by a few visiting Canberra Geocachers. The park was very clean by the end, and to justify my long drive, I then did a large loop of the *Wandering Heroes* geocaches. My morale was high, and I ended up finding a significant number, with some great creativity that had gone into some of those hides. A late night drive back home.

I made the drive to do a full *Wandering Heroes* loop that were the closest to Tailem Bend; That is, along Kulde Road as far as Zytheran's cache, and then returning back along Westbrook Road. I had completed a few miscellaneous heroes geocaches along here, in particular the new-ish ones when I had been in the area with others, and so tonight it was a matter of getting in the right frame of mind, and getting to work. This geocache was a reasonably quick find, and the cache container and logbook were in good shape. Nice container! Thanks Darknstormy for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

Catching up with very late logs.

We were coming back from Western Australia trying to again finish this series which we have now completed three times but it just keeps growing and growing.
There were two puzzles that we hadn't solved and one out of our terrain ability at the moment so we weren't to finish it this trip but we enjoyed visiting each of the wandering heroes.

We don't think that we have had the pleasure of meeting aTeam Holden nor have we found any of these caches

Many thanks Darknstormyr for the cache and for CP wanderer for starting this trail.

We had two hours of the afternoon left before sunset, and so we decided to search for a chunk of these Wandering Heroes caches before heading off to our campsite for the night. We enjoyed reading about the various geocachers, some of whose names we recognise as owners of caches we have found on our travels around Australia, and some whose names we recognise having seen them in log books around the country. Many thanks to the COs for having laid the trail and we hope we might be able to complete it on a future visit to Australia - maybe we might even get to meet some of the COs and the geocachers mentioned at the Clearwaters and St Arnaud 2019 Mega Events that we will be attending. This one was a nice quick find once at Ground Zero. We signed the log book and then replaced as found. Thanks so much for the cache and greetings from Zimbabwe

Hi there Darknstormy.

We found your cache **"Wandering Heroes.. Team Holden"** today. (This makes our find count 21615).

Today we headed out from Wellington to attempt the OTD (May) series as well as some of the Wandering Heroes. We thoroughly enjoyed today's cache finds, but please excuse our boilerplate logs - we know it's not really a good excuse, but we find it difficult to craft individual logs when we attempt so many similar caches in a day. [:(!]

We found 42 caches today & DNF'd 0. Thanks for placing the cache here, without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places on our travels.

**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found most caches within a few metres of where our GPS said we should be looking. [:(!] (We did have to look a little further afield for some though). [:(!]
**Cache Condition:** The containers and log books were mostly in good shape.
**Took:** Nothing
**Left:** Smiley Badge in the majority of caches.

Thanks for the hunt today,

Regards

Ian & Penny

We were heading out of Palmer today and just picked out a couple of caches on our way to our next destination with ilook4geo.
Then we started on a trail of caches placed in honour of Wandering Heroes of the geocaching game. Although some of the cache containers and logs were on good condition, there were also quite a few where the containers were badly damaged and no longer are weather or vermin proof. Some logs also need to be replaced as they are either full, wet or mouldy.
However, each found log had two more names added and all was put back as it had been found. Thanks go to the CO for their part in this trail of caches.

18-Mar-19
Moving on today and still caching with goingplaces2. Found quite a lot for the day and signed each log. The Wandering Heroes caches were sometimes a bit challenging to find and some needed a lot of maintenance. All was put back into place before we moved on. TFTC.

On a spur of the moment trip to Tailem Bend to have a bit of caching fun.
Spent the day picking up caches in the area and surrounds and starting this great series which I will return one day to finish.
A great variety of cache containers were found in all sorts of ways.
Thanks Darknstormy TFTC.

11-Jan-19
I had planned a big few days of caching in SA so I left work on a Tuesday evening and hit the road from Melbourne. This was my third full day of caching and the Wandering Heroes caches (and assorted others nearby) were on my target list. It was a blisteringly hot day (felt hotter than the 39C recorded on my car!) and the dry and dusty conditions made it hard going at times. My first task having left where I was staying overnight in Murray Bridge was to head to the Geopets series. Once I was done there I headed on to the Wandering Heroes and others along that route. Many took me longer than expected with different containers, hide styles and some further off the road. In the end I had to adjust my expectation of finds for the day before I headed north to where I was staying overnight. Thanks to Darknstormy for this cache and to all COs for placing and maintaining this remarkable series. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables.

Completed the nearby May series and started to head for home. This popped up on the screen so I had to stop to collect it. Biggest one of them I have found but it is not hanging anymore.

Having started the oz mega signal yester, I headed back down south with the intention of finishing it and making a start on the wandering heroes’ caches. It was perfect weather for a long day of caching, after a few caches the mojo was back and good progress was made. Stopping in Wellington for lunch (and more caches) it was off to Tailem Bend and a steady slog was made into the wandering heroes. Eventually, as the sun was setting it was time to call it a day and head home after an enjoyable day.

With the magical creatures souvenirs coming to an end soon, I decided I needed to grab a few more caches this weekend to knock most of them out. With a couple of events on not too far from some mostly untouched power trails, I made my way down to Murray Bridge, then spent the afternoon evening attacking the start of Wandering Heroes, as well as the start of the Popes series, along with a few others in between.

This was find number 26 of 72 for the day for me. TFTC Darknstormy!
