Cache container is broken and so brittle it broke further when I replaced it. Really needs a new one. Log is dry in its bag. Left a pathtag. TFTC
We just rode our bikes along the rail trail from Castlemaine to Maldon finding a few caches on the way. TFTC
A short trip up to Maldon and Heathcote this weekend grabbing a few caches on the way.Rode the rail trails this morning, firstly towards Castlemaine, and then Maldon going north west. All the cache were there, but most need some TLC. Mostly wet logs and damaged containers. The trail is now well marked, and there was no doubt which way to go.Thanks, Robmc.
I'd been intending to mtb from Castlemaine to Maldon for lunch all summer......... but it never happened!
Today I decided to walk part of it,14.5km, with Geopup.
After parking at Muckleford, this was my 4th for the day after a DNF & my 600th find!!
My phone GPS was behaving & I made a quick find of the cache - there were more huge, thick spider webs to dodge. I drained off water but the log was good. Another container with a cracked lid. I then spotted the 1st puddle of the day & guided the hot & thirsty geopup across the railway to reach it.
It was a gorgeous, warm autumn day to be out & about. Many thanks

TFTC. Nice cache, had to drain water out of it after last week's heavy rain.
First we found a pen on the ground, it works too! Could be a footprint left behind from a fellow cache hunter...
We soon found the cache and took the pen with us, it's always handy to have a spare.

Found TFTC. Box was not that well hidden so covered it so muggles cannot see it

Found this one on my morning bike ride. I'd seen it there before while walking past but never opened it. I think it needs a repaint as it's paint is coming off. Also it's geocache sticker has fallen off and was underneath it.
Find No. 3298. Found with FUF009 at 1.16pm.
This Saturday Mr Tyred n Cranky had footy duties at Maldon, so FUF009 and myself (Mrs Tyred n Cranky) decided to take the push bikes and cache the Maldon to Castlemaine Rail Trail. As we got to Maldon early, Mr Tyred n Cranky took us out to Muckleford Station so we could start there.
We headed off towards Castlemaine, grabbing the three on this section, then made our way back to Maldon to grab the other four.
When we got back to Maldon we walked the street for a look, then had a snack sitting on a seat in the sun. As we still had time up our sleeve before heading back to the footy ground we decided to go out to Butts Reserve at the base of Mount Tarrengower to see if we could could grab the two that were there, with our pushbikes - - which we managed to do.
Made it back to the footy ground at 4.32pm and had the push bikes loaded in the van just as footy was finishing - which was good timing we both thought. All up we done approx 28ks on our bikes.
Another quick find on the Rail Trail with spot on co-ords.

Find # 9664
Found with Mrs Tyred n Cranky.
Seeing as Mr Tyred n Cranky had Football duty in Maldon. Mrs Tyred n Cranky and myself decided to make a day on the bikes and and finally go and find the caches on the Castlemaine to Maldon rail trail.
as we were early to Maldon Mr Tyred n Cranky kindly took us up to the Muckleford Station for us to start out ride.
So from Muckleford we headed to Castlemain before turning around and heading back to Maldon.
We managed to find all the caches on the trail and and we even had time to find a couple of caches just off the Mt Tarrengower Rd.
But the end of the day we had ridden a total of 28ks.
Off the "Track" and onto the bush roads. another quick find made while cycling the trail.

The trip from the Bellarine to Bendigo today could be called a retro drive! Not our usual dash up the Calder, but following the Midland, which gave us the perfect opportunity for collecting a few smiley tokens.
Just over 12 months ago we made a start on this series, it was good to get a few more smiley spikes beside the tracks today.
Thanks AussieTrainDriver for creating this rail trail series.

Continuing along the rail trail in convoy with Papi4506, Geoturtle37, micaparamedic and wozzle68 we enjoyed the tracks as we made the finds.
Geoturtle noticed all the pretty native wildflowers along the ground here so the macro lens came out and photos were taken of the various colours. We are happy to have spring back thats for sure.
Thanks Team_Ninja for the series.

Geoturtle37 and I caught up with The_Tritonz, Wozzle68, and a little later, Micaparamedic and had a great time exploring the area and finding caches as we went. This one took a little longer than it should have as Geoturtle had the camera out and everywhere she looked, she would find another native orchid. There certainly were a lot of them and so many different ones. Thanks for bringing us out here. Very pleased we came at this time of the year.
Had a great time out and about with Papi4506, The_Tritonz, Wozzle68 and a little later in the day, Micaparamedic.
We decided to see how we went on the SL trail. Wozzle was able to show us how to get onto the track and all finds were made. Some taking a little longer than they should have. At Muckleford Station, we were fortunate to arrive about 5 minutes before it left.
Thank you for placing this series for us to find. We had a great time on a lovely day. Although we expected to see more wildlife of the fauna variety, we did see some amazing wildlife along the flora line. Thank you.

In the area today with The_Tritonz and this one crossed our path and we had to convert to a smiley. Thanks for the hide. We took our time here and photographed the wild orchids
Five ways to choose from, no wonder we forgot to add our Geocaching name to the log sheet! -SL at 10.25am - well wrote the date and time, but failed to scribble our name. left: Snake- at least he fitted in the container! #6192 TFTC AussieTrainDriver

On a well earned break in Castlemaine and I’m spending the time just touring the whole area, enjoying the sites and picking up caches as I go.
Being in the Geocruiser and having maps I luckily new which track to take.
Having been on the train a couple of months ago I noticed these tracks beside the train tracks and now I get to drive them.
Thanks Team_Ninja TFTC.

A short stroll from where we left the car and the find was easy.
A little disappointed that the last visitor didn't rehide the cache well at all, leaving it quite exposed and visable.

After a coffee and some cake, it was time to explore Maldon, then head back to Woodend for dinner. Easy tracks alongside the errr tracks. A quick find, and the last for the day. As the sun slowly sets in the west, time to head east. Thanks for the cache Team_Ninja.

Find #1463 for me. Found with jtnsilo and virbull (previous finder). After finding "How Cutting!" and "Pipeline Track" we continued driving along the dirt track in my 2WD hoping that the road wouldn't get any worse, and it was fine as long as I took it slowly and carefully. We were able to make another quick find here. Thanks for the cache and the series Team_Ninja!
Finding the track taking us right up to the cache locations. .1021 find for me ..thanks for the cache placement all good at GZ.
Yes - lots of different ways to go but when we are walking a rail trail - well it is obvious- keep the track on your left going out from Maldon - etc etc. Left a metal lucky Chinese half moon token. TFTC 2BluFish
Another of the series done. A bit cold out today but the smileys make it worth while.

By myself on dirt tracks after rain with big puddles covering the tracks and didn't tell my hubby I was going caching or where. This could work out badly. Luckily it didn't. I didn't get bogged or lost. Phew! This was another nice quick stop and grab. TFTC
Found with becca85, boo09 & GemmaSistem, Ad & Luke while out for an afternoon (that turned in to evening). TFTC, sorry for late log.

Little kids win again - we loved this series. Nice trail.
Today the kids and I headed to Maldon to team up with becca85 and her kids for an afternoon of geocaching. We cached between Maldon and Castlemaine enjoying some great hides, historical locations and beautiful scenery. Many thanks for the cache.

Another great little series. Nice quick find by the geo-kids.
Muggle husband/Dad had headed off to Melbourne for the day so we had a free afternoon ahead. After a chat to GemmaSistema, it was decided that we would head this way for 'a few. A few turned into many more as usual and caching in darkness. A great way to spend a Saturday arvo. Dropped off a TB

Geocaching has taken me on many adventures over the years all over Australia and overseas. It has also introduced me to a brilliant and diverse group of people, many of whom are now close friends.
Today I was lucky enough to be out and about with some of those friends and we targeted this cache.
Sorry for the late log, but thanks for adding to the adventure!

Found with my daughter on Mothers Day. My mother is overseas and I have no significant other so when the new caches were published she said "go for it Dad" and here I am. Love this location. Will have to do this trail sometime.
