The cache of the day! Not only did we get to look at a quaint little church in the country, but we got to cross a suspension bridge that we saw cars driving across, but we also found an amo can! We declined to drive our Cruiser across, to close to the weight limit!A favourite from us.Today was set aside to make a start on the Dog's Head Loop. The puzzles had been solved quite some time ago so we were looking forward to turning them and the other caches into smilies. It was a great day for caching, clear skies, temperatures in the high teens and little or no wind. We didn't take the COs advice and work in a clockwise direction, but that was because we were starting out from Branxton and will be moving on to Maitland later. It is a fabulously organized series to date. Reasonable places to pull over in most instances, great sized caches with excellent hints and obvious regular maintenance. Congratulations and well done!We had a couple of DNFs and an enjoyable if busy day. More to come!Thank you for your efforts in creating and maintaining the cache Billy&Jad.**SKI Pair****

Full time Nomads, travelling around Australia since 2014. Well we set off for a drive in the countryside today. We noticed we were logging behind WRAACie & kaz444 on the same date. At Paterson we were doing the AdLab and a car tooted Mr Felix whilst he was collecting a stage so we thought there may be some cachers about. Sure enough we caught up at the AL bonus. We even swapped a few TB's Cool Lovely to meet cachers out on the hunt. We then continued to see WRAACie and kaz444 at stops along our route. We got to #99 of the dogs head series and Mrs Felix said just 1 more before we head home. But of course things went awry as the car was on such a lean that she couldn't get back in and had to get Mr F to move to more level.... WET ground. OOps. Yep we were stuck, 4x4 back and forward digging up the verge. Surprised [B)] Mrs Felix name was mud, literally. Lucky for us a P-plater stopped in his Hilux and was able to snatch the GeoCruiser from the mess.Red FaceThe highlight of our day was the multi at St Annes Gresford and seeing that amazing bridge. We were unable to drive over the bridge as our GeoCruiser is too heavy. Mr Felix got to walk over and back. TFTC Billy&Jad Cool

What a fantactic church. Our thanks to Trevor for taking the time to show us the beautiful inside. Some pics included. The suspension bridge was indeed a bonus. Ammo can in the bush. My fav. A rare astro fav added to this cache. Found on the Mega Capital Geobash coastal loop via Adelaide - Barrington - coast to Mexico City loop. A lot of caches and white line fever was sweated out. What a beautiful church. Was working finals out when a local, Trevor, offered to open the church up for us. How nice. We chatted for a while about the demise of churches, the history and the great bell. Then we went off to find the cache couldnt believe it when we saw a car drive across the swing bridge!!! What a great way to end another great dayDay 7 of the travels towards Barrington Tops before heading to the 2024 Canberra Geobash. Thanks Billy&Jad for placing this here, contributing to this great game for myself and others to enjoy.

Epic fail. We lost our mojo.

29-Nov-22
I attempted this multicache on a trip from Adelaide to NSW and back with Freddo.

Our main target was ‘Frying Pan’ in the Chichester State Forest, near Barrington Tops north of Newcastle.

We allowed ourselves a week to travel there and back, taking a circuitous route through Victoria and NSW, camping each night and finding a range of caches of interest along the way.

Rains over the past few months meant a few detours along the way and plenty of water about, restricting access to some caches and camping areas. Many of the roads were quite chopped up with potholes and the mosquitoes were plentiful! But we had a good run with the weather, with just the odd shower, but mostly fine, warm and overcast.

We gathered the required information at the church, calculated the final coordinates and headed across the bridge to GZ. However, after a lengthy search without finding anything we went back to the start to recheck our calculations.

After confirming the numbers we were confident we were correct, so reviewed previous logs and photos and headed back for another look, again without any luck.

We may have somehow missed it, but it looks like this one might be missing.

Thanks anyway Billy&Jad.

A two day road trip to conquer the Dog Head Trail together with The Bebes, Everest High and Eagle Eyed Monkey Girl.
Full log will be placed with cache #197 (Standard Schnauzer).

A nice cache at the end of a great day along the Dog Head Trail. As we were staying at the Beatty Hotel in East Gresford, we decided to do this nearby multi. The first waypoint brought us to a beautiful little church where we found the answers needed. It was then across an interesting creaking bridge to the other side of the creek where The Bebes had to be bushed up the slippery embankment to get to the cache container.
Thanks for this fun cache.

This was cache find 142 of our road trip. TFTC!

Found with shaneo58's, doing a fair number of the dogs head trail and some around the Branxton area.. It was a very warm day for a spring days. We went home last time and recounted the window, got a better location, we decider to walk over the bridge, an learner driver avoided the bridge by going over the weir. Nice quick find, and great container,
Log signed and cache replaced as found.

Well 2020 has been a relatively slow year on the caching front due to COVID-19. If it wasn't for that it would have been a trip to the USA and Geocaching's 20th year celebrations.

However the crew got back together and The Rats, Hoojar and I teamed up for a few days caching up around the Hunter area. First it was to finish off some of the older OZGM series caches then up into the Watagans for more. Most of Saturday was spent tackling the great Dogs Head Trail then on Sunday it was down into Newcastle city for some great caches.

This was another find on our trip. A pretty cool bridge!

TFTC!

COVID has really put a dampener on this year’s caching ability, but it hasn't stopped my enthusiasm to get out and find a cache whenever possible. So, it was with excitement that I was keen to catch up with Steeba and Hoojar for our first caching weekend of the year. Big Grin

We targeted a number of powertrails in the Central Coast and Hunter region over our 3-day caching frenzy. The weekend threw up a bit of everything, including a plethora of finds, mountain bush bashing, coastal caching, weather that varied from beautiful to bizarre, sleeping under the stars, some close calls with the flora and fauna, lovely local hospitality and most of all, a great time away with my mates”.

Thanks to all the C.O’s for placing and maintaining their caches for us to find. Apologises for the generic log but with so many finds I couldn’t personalise every one of them. Wink

After a chilly night and another early start we tackled our biggest day, the “Dog’s Head” trail north of Maitland saw us meandering through the picturesque countryside. It was here we found some cleverly crafted containers which added to a great day. By time nightfall we’d met up with Big Matt & MV for a lovely meal at the Paterson Hotel.
Thanks Smile

With restrictions starting to ease in our Covid World, it was decided that 2020 caching really need to kick up a gear, and so a plan was set in motion for The Rats, Steeba and myself to head to the Newcastle and Hunter region. There were a few trails, power trails, and Lab Caches that would be hitting our radars, along with a milestone for The Rats. We headed off on Thursday evening and turned for jome on Sunday afternoon. A wonderful long weekend was had, and our cache finds topped 450 for the trip. All in all it was a great success.

The caches were excellent. Some indeed were amazing, and favourite points have been awarded. The company, as always, was faultless. The weather was varied. We had sun, rain, wind, colder, warm, more wind... A bit of everything! We managed to find a few nice spots to camp, and enjoyed the company of Big Matt and Marcus Vitruvius for dinner at a local establishment on Saturday evening.

Please forgive the boiler-plate log, I assure you it is no reflection on the caching experience of our few days away. Thank you to all cache owners for their hides.

Favourite point, a great little multi, and driving across the bridge was fun!

Cheers

I was in desperate need to get away this weekend for some quiet and stress free time for myself, so I decided to go for a long drive up here to grab some select caches and camp out in the Barrington Tops NP. Just myself, my coffee and a small stash of food, with a bit oif rain... and sleep in the back of my Xtrail... should be a relaxing time...
Only to get rear-ended by a young driver on a quiet country road!
While my car was still drivable, the rear hatch-door was jammed shut. I was determined to keep my Zen state of mind and still go camping (It was a 4hr drive back home). I'd just have to climb in by the rear passenger door.
It got dark, so at the campground I made a hot drink, had dinner and read a bit before going to sleep earlier than usual. So I naturally woke up after my normal hours of sleep AT 3AM! TOO EARLY TO CACHE OR DO ANYTHING!
Hours later when the sun started to rise I continue my caching run. All was good for a few hours... and then I noticed my left-rear tyre go flat! My spare is beneath the luggage floor, beneath 2 drawers FULL of heavy camping gear, all of which I had to remove through the rear passenger door!
Fast forward a bit, the spare tyre on the car, the flat one back in the car, with all the rest of my stuff, and then I noticed my front one was flat AS WELL! Sad No second spare!
The closest town 20km away, no tyre change store open until Monday, I could only try and keep it inflated with my little foot pump and top it up where-ever safe to stop, for the 300Km drive home.
Got home safely, despite heavy rain for the last hour and emptied out my car to get ready for the repairs.
AFTER ALL THAT I STILL KEPT MY COOL!
BUT THIS WASN'T WHAT I CALL A RELAXING WEEKEND!
Thanks for the caches.

I joined a trip to Maitland with Aquilus1, dty73, Tankengine, Barb2e, Kitty Katch & Joolay. The weekends main game was to do the dogs head series, but along the way we did some old caches around Sydney and did as many Maitland caches as time allowed. The return journey was via some old caches and some challenges that may or may not be met one day.

Day 2 was the dogs head series and three other series around Kurri Kurri. The R&D caches and many other Maitland caches are absolutely fantastic containers showing great creativity with new tools.

Thanks for the cache Billy&Jad

Found with and signed the Capital Crunchers who are: dty73, Tankengine, Joolay, kittycatch, Albida33, Barb2e.

A four day caching trip up around Maitland collecting a number of caches of interest to suit everyone along for the fun. A lovely area, very scenic, green and lots of historic locations. Also some great caching to be done while in the area as well as on our way there and home.

The 'Dogs head' was a main focus of the trip, and took us the the best part of the day along with a few smaller trails and a few as we passed but a lovely scenic area to spend the day in. Most caches were straight forward finds, a few took a little search and others are great 3D printed designs or LARGE! Great trail through a great area, thanks for the cache Billy&Jad.

Loved the bridge and then came back through the river, lots of fun! FP.

Today I did a nice cacher tour along the Dogs Head Trail. The weather was nice and warm. I always parked in safe places and preferred to walk some steps. On the way I was always happy about the beautiful nature and the many boxes.

TFTC,
I joined Liz and Bruce & Nana nel for 2 days caching around the area. Our primary goal was to complete the Dogs Head Trail but there are plenty of other caches to try and complete across several towns.
Great to have such a variety of caches.
Thanks to Kingfisher_au for providing a trail where we could work together with other cachers and enjoy each others company while building numbers and learning about so many different breeds.
Thanks to Billi&Jad for the history and more variation to the area. Loved the swing bridge.
Added a favourite and visited trackables.

What a beautiful church!!! Such a nice place to visit. Thanks so much for this really interesting cache! Found whilst out and about tackling the Dog’s Head Smile

Dog’s Head has now become one of my new favourite trails!! So much creativity and diversity throughout. Thank you so much kingfisher_au for your time, energy and resources.

Tackled the trail (and some smaller surrounding ones) as part team Capital Crunchers (fitzy_1965, minniek, specimenX, Nibletricecakes, Joolay and Roostaman) on our Maitland long weekend adventure. So glad we made the trek it has been truly delightful! As an added bonus we all hit a milestone (mine being 3000) AND racked up the most number of finds we have ever found in a day!! 310! An all round epic adventure. Thanks so much everyone.

Headed to the Maitland area with fitzy_1965 & SpecimenX for an extra long weekend of caching.

Day 2 saw us joined by nibletricecakes, Joolay & even Roostaman (who happened to be staying in the same campground as us by chance). Dogs Head Trail was our main aim with others collected along the way.

All caches where found quickly and easily unless otherwise mentioned. Logs were either signed or stamped as Capital Crunchers, CC, Kapital Krunchers or KK.

This one had a us second guessing for a bit but once we invested a bit further we came up with the goods. Thanks Billy&Jad

18,869. Found as part of the Capital Crunchers Team (fitzy_1965, minniek, specimenX, nibletricecakes, Joolay and Roostaman) during the Canberra Invasion of Maitland region over the long weekend.

This was one of the bonus caches found while doing the Dog's Head Trail. The counting was done and calculations made. After one aborted look we redid everything and then wandered over to our GZ. specimenX quickly came up with the prize.

Thanks Billy&Jad !!

Found with fitzy_1965, minniek, Nibletricecakes, Joolay as well as Roostaman as part of the Canberra Invasion of Maitland and surrounds over an extra long weekend Big Grin

This was a deviation off the Dogs Head Trail for us here. We all spent a little while here! We did the calcs and then wandered down to what we thought was GZ but discovered it was further away than what we were anticipating. So back up we went to check our workings. Checked our sums and then worked out we were right the first time-we just had to go for a bit of a walk! Wandered over the structure and then made our way to GZ where the sturdy container was found moments after. Stamped as Capital Crunchers to save log space.

Thanks for the neat multi and hide, Billy&Jad Cool Lovely area so giving a fave!

What a lovely church and a great place to stop. We counted and got the coords and went hang on looks like were getting wet. But all good we just needed to restock and open our eyes.

Up in Maitland with Nibletricecakes, Fitzy1965, MinnieK and Specimen X, to do the Dogs Head. We will go by the name of Capital Crunchers. We have also met up with Roosterman who is joining us today. Really looking forward to the challenge and getting the geoart today.

Our logs are signed Capital Crunchers or stamped depending who wrote them.

G'Day My Fellow Geocacher,

How are you my fellow Geocacher? I’m DARKSIDEDAN aka Daniel from Canberra, Australia and I have had the pleasure of finding your Geocache during my travels as a Geocacher. I signed the logbook in your cache either Darksidedan or Darkside or DSD.

I love discovering Geocaches, Trackable items and collecting Pathtags. I hope that you enjoy Geocaching as much as I do. For me geocaching is a way of life and when I am not Geocaching, I am thinking of Geocaching.

Here is a little information about me. I have been geocaching since 2015. At the time of finding this cache I have over 6000 finds plus 350 hides. I am the creator of the “Duck Dip” Lab Cache that won 2nd Place for the Australian Capital Territory in the State Vs State - Battle of the Lab Caches at the OzGeoMuster - The Gong Mega 2019 in Wollongong, Australia. In 2019, I won the right to place a Virtual 2.0 Cache from Geocaching.com, but I have not placed it yet. I am just trying to find somewhere that is worthy of a Virtual Cache.

Now let’s talk Pathtags. Currently I have over 4600 Pathtags in my collection plus about 500 Etagz. I currently have two of my own Pathtags (45762 & 46950) with another one in the works.

I have included with my Found It log an Original and One of a Kind, Geocaching poem that I have written. I hope that everyone who reads it gets some enjoyment out of it.

Geocache Poem by DARKSIDEDAN

My endless search goes on and on
Looking for treasures of every kind
Always chasing just one more find
Putting past DNF’s out of my mind
I step out into the world outside,
Seeking what is hidden from me
What size, shape or form will it be?
Only time will tell, I can’t wait to see
Will I find my prize at the end?
I will search in the failing light and cold
Filling with despair having looked everywhere
Where is this thing that gives my life pleasure?
Looking all around from every angle
I read the logs and check the hint
I curse out loud as I walk in circles
Screaming the bloody thing it not there
As time flies by and I fail to see,
Never once stopping to realize
It always been there before my eyes
No need for sorrow, there’s the Geocache.

I am currently writing very detailed logs because of a challenge provided by Project-GC called "The Author". This Badge challenges geocaches to write logs with an average length of more than one hundred words per log. As of the 25th September 2019 my average Found It log is 165 words per log. I would like to get all my logs up to more than 200 words per log but I will have to wait and see how I go. Currently I am just trying to get my average up by finding and logging as many geocaches as I can. My apologies to anyone who finds my lengthy logs tedious but it is the only way that I can strive to attain the highest level with this challenge. After more than 6,000 geocaches (which includes all cache finds up and including this cache, I am now entertaining the possibility that I might be able to achieve my task very soon. Progress has been better than anticipated.

We were out touring the roads finding some of the "Dog's Head" trail caches and called in here because it looked interesting. Being Sunday, a service was being held so unfortunately we could not see inside, but walked around the lovely church, listening to the singing and counting windows. Back at the car, we calculated the final coordinates and wandered over there, with no idea of where we were going. We were following at a distance a group of young kids with nets, obviously about to lower the yabby population, and eventually we reached GZ. I managed to grab the very large container and logged our find. I am glad we do not live on the western side of the river, the noise from a car driving over the suspension bridge did not give me confidence it was going to reach the other side. Thanks Billy&Jad for bringing us here for a good multicache, definitely worth the detour and a FP from us.

With a long weekend in Canberra, FurfacesLL #1 and myself decided it was time to get away and find a bit of warmth as the cold makes its way into Canberra. We decided to head up to Maitland as neither of us had been there before for Geocaching. We had our primary target set to complete the new Dog geo-art series, and we managed to do that within a single day, so we had plenty of time up our sleeves for other things. We enjoyed the series with the different containers and hide styles along the way. We decided to add a drive upto collect Frying Pan and also included another older cache on Mount Sugarloaf for the journey home.

Another slight detour whilst doing the dogs head series. Loved wandering around the church and collecting the required information. We had a blast crossing the old crickety bridge and soon had cache in hand.

Thanks for the cache hide Billy&Jad Big Grin and thanks FFLL#1 for another trip out and about for some quantity AND quality caching Big Grin

After meeting the CO at a pre Mega event in Canberra at the Lakes in Gungahlin we decided to have a look at the dog trail that he talked about. So we set to work to solve all the puzzles in hopes of taking a trip to complete this series in the near future.
That day arrived a plan was hatched to spend a long weekend for Canberra up in Maitland collecting the dog trail and others around the area with Rapidlywild.

While doing the dogs head trail we did what we could of others along the way. Nice little church and cool bridge. Lovely little multi.

Thanks for the multi Billy&Jad and thanks for the great weekend away and laughs Rapidlywild.

We always enjoy a Multi-cache and so we stopped off to undertake this one today before continuing on up to the Frying Pan cache to complete our Australian Jasmer. We enjoyed the wander around the church before taking a look inside. With the number required and the math worked out we updated our GPS with the corrected co-ordinates and then walked on towards Ground Zero - which was another very pleasant stroll! The cache was then soon located where we signed the log book and then replaced as found. Thanks so much for the cache and a favourite point awarded for having bought us to this lovely location. Greetings from Zimbabwe

Big day today as we hunt down a Old School cache in order to fill in a missing month for the Ausmer Challenge down in Bowral. Came through with alnic39, phlphotos and Splitty Miller JJCC. Drove down the road towards this lovely secluded church and preceded to collect the needed information and calculated the next waypoint to GZ. Before we left the church grounds we had a look inside the church...wow, truly spectacular stained glass. As the afternoon was heating up we opted to drove over towards GZ and parked the car nearby. Walking down towards GZ we spotted a good spot for a hide and on investigation found the loot. With the container in hand we all signed our names, then replaced everything as found. The cache container and log are in good condition. Thanks for the cache Billy&Jad.

#2388 on a trip to the Hunter Valley to knock off another old school cache with alnic39, teamMerlin and Splitty Miller JJCC we stopped at this nice church in Gresford to stretch our legs by doing this multi. It was hotter than we expected and the idea changed that after getting the info required we decuded that driving to GZ was better than walking. We soon spotted a likely spot and the cache was soon found

With cache in hand we signed the log and replaced as found. Both the cache and log are in good condition. Thanks for bringing me to the area and thanks for placing the cache Billy&Jad. Always enjoyed multis at churches

On a road trip down from Qld to participate in the Oz GeoMuster Event, left my small car in Dungog and joined up with team RoddyC to find your cache.
Loved the very old history surrounding this church and the district & after gathering the info required we found the prize quickly due to the top hint. This was the first time I've ever driven over a bridge like the one near the church as well, certainly an experience for me.
TFTC Billy&Jad for the good multi and neat hide.

We came across your cache, Billy&Jad, during our journey to the Easter Mega.

A short detour and we found the church then counted all the required windows and did the calculations. Interesting drive and a great final. Favourite.

Family picnic day up at Ladies Well - I spent a lot of time around the Upper Allyn and Barrington Tops as a child, but we haven't been up here for a few years. A bit of prior research of caches in the area and we found 4 of 4 attempts today, finishing on #100.

Final stop on the way home was St Annes Gresford for #100. Had a bit of a look around the outside and calculated our final WP. Even though it was after 5pm, we were still able to look inside the church and the windows are amazing from in there. Had a little trouble with the car near GZ, but fortunately recovered ourselves! Geosenses weren't working, so we double checked calculations and Mr Cooper took over the find, with the hint in mind, walked straight up to it, no where near where I'd been looking! Kids swapped some SWAG and added a couple extra. Plenty of room! Awesome cache for our 100th find and another great one thanks to Billy&Jad today.

Decided it would be a nice day to grab some caches bit further afield. A very pleasant place here. The did the counting then did the sums but Mr C made a dumb error subtracting which took us about an extra 100m further up the road than we needed to be. got to GZ and had a look around then spotted the hide. A nice change from micros. cache and contents in good shape. very nice place to visit. Thanks Billy&Jad. Gets a fav from us.

Find #1437
We had no firm plans for the day until this morning.... then saw clear skies for the first time in what seemed an eternity, so headed off to grab some caches. We took the scenic road to Singleton, via Allynbrook and Gresford. Much nicer than the expressway.... Our haul was seven caches and one trig, not bad considering the low cache density out here!
The second of our destination caches for the day. We explored the church inside and out, it was pretty dark inside, and the kids were a bit spooked by it. The windows were particularly vibrant with the dark interior. We plotted GZ, and noted a road to it. Well, the road had a metre of water over it, so we reversed back up the road, and planned to use the pedestrian bridge we noticed on the way in. Only it isn't a pedestrian bridge, just the dodgiest looking vehicular suspension bridge I've ever seen! We walked across. Oliver was spooked enough by walking - "it's too rickedy!".... GZ was found quickly, and the very cool cache uncovered. We dropped in a couple of themed trackables.... Thanks Billy&Jad - we enjoyed our visit, another FP.

Having had a long day in Sydney yesterday and with 'spring' cleaning duties completed around the house (what a mission that was) we decided a leisurely Sunday arvo drive was in order.

Normally I try to keep my map pretty clear and with a pair of new caches sitting on the 60km radius we decided to check them out. We knew MV had beaten us up here but "second's right after first" ha ha

Well worth the drive too. Another pretty little church and after some counting (glad to have my 5 year old with me to check my counting) and with some more maths we went for a short walk like the Billy Goats Gruff, and spotted a likely spot from a few yards out.

I think we've seen this container before? maybe at an awards ceremony? A good use for it - this was a fun little multi.

Hope the cover is enough to keep the weather out in the long term though. The kids made some swaps. They were very excited about the marine wildlife book so we will read that and then pass it on to another cache later. TNLN TFTC

Reperio at 0945.

After going for a drive out to Allynbrook, we returned back past Gresford to stop by here to this beautiful little church. The youngest one was more interested in the bridge, so once the numbers were calculated, we went and found the cache, and walked across the rickety old bridge which he loved. The cache was in a great hiding spot, and my favourite type of container. We stood on the bridge before jumping back into the car and looked down at the creek below. A beautiful spot. Really enjoyed this multi cache.

Gratias Billy&Jad.
