Thank you!! First ever Geocache looked for and found. I chose this one because for the a time it was ranked easy and was far away, so if I spent a while looking I wasn't going to look stupid in front of heaps of peopleI'm excited now to find more!!

Wandered down from the carpark and was glad that this is a quiet road. Road shoulders aren't the most fun at the best of time, but they're worth it when there's a cache at the end. Quick find, TFTC

One of those caches where you arrive at GZ an instantly can tell where the cache is before reading anything - isn't it funny how your brain conditions itself to caches like that! TFTC

Spending the weekend in Wellington, I was asked today if I'd like to head over to Makara. Wow, I haven't been over there in about 31 years, so jumped at the chance to re-visit.
It was such a glorious day, if you were looking out of a window. Yeah, Wellington was a bit breezy today. And that was in town. Out by Makara it was, well lets just say it was challenging walking around lol. Having experienced that for ourselves, it was time to head on home. But not before checking out a side road that neither of us had been up before.
Having enjoyed some great views from the top, we stopped at this cache on the way back down. A quick find in the obvious location. No issues here, and with the log swiftly signed we were back on our way again.

We drove in and got out of the car.My dad found it straight away but I needed a little help but once I found it I realised that it was pretty easy

Out to celebrate my 40th. What better way than some geocache hunting! First find for today.
I saw the icon for this cache pop up on my in-car GPSr as I was driving to Makara. I also noticed a good parking spot on the other side of the road so made a point of stopping here on my return journey. There was a fair amount of traffic passing but I managed to retrieve and later replace the cache during breaks.
Visited this cache today as part of a brief excursion in the area.

While visiting in Karori for the day we stopped by to pick this one up.A quick find and a good cache.Wrote the log and re-concealed carefully.TFTC!
When I saw this get published, I knew it would be an ideal candidate for a dot-day cache, so left it alone. As I had completed my dot days back in December I didn't need to keep this one on the back burner any longer. After a pleasant drive through the Makara Valley this evening I pulled over near the top and with a short stroll I had my hands on the cache. Signed and replaced. TFTC

After finding this cache, we enjoyed peering over the fence to see a group of goats including three young noisy kids making their way through the undergrowth. TFTC
Brought my bike up from Nelson to do some of the geo tracks around Wellington and ended up with a few magic days both sunny weather and very little wind first mission was the track around the wind farm and grab a few caches on the way out
Another quick visit to Grandchn and grand chn minding.. so i took the boys to school and then did a quick trip out along this road quite nearby as i was in Karori, and completed the last of the caches along here having previously located the caches closer to the beach when visiting the beach a few months ago but i had left these three closer in caches for another day. All were quickly found once i realised that for the cemetery one i did indeed need to go up into the cemetery and no access from the road. Thank you for these three caches and a three more smileys!
I decided to exit from the Makara Beach via the Makara Village and Karori. This had a nice waid parking area.

On a road trip with my mum (CNAH) last weekend with the primary goal of seeing where my grandmothers grave is at Makara Cemetery. My mum lived her childhood in Ohariu Valley so it made sense to explore this area en route. Had a fantastic time hearing snippets of her childhood as we travelled these local roads - it brought back many memories for mum.
As stated, this was a quick park and grab on the way back to Karori. TFTC

Was worried that I would not be able to get this one today as workmen were parked up hear while clearing a nearby slip. Came back up after a foray in Makara Beach and found the workmen had moved on down the road. Place was nice and empty and a quick find followed. All in order. TFTC

#4321. I am up north on a work trip for 2 weeks and I have no chance to do any geocaches even though there are some within a couple of km if I had time for a bush walk. Anyway I managed to persuade Mrs GSEL to leave the comfort of home and head out to pick up a cache. Before I left, I spied this one on the map and thought it was a cache that could be located without a GPS. So today Mrs GSEL headed out in the rain and stopped nearby. She sent me a photo on WhatsApp of the cache and its hide. Also details of the trackable she picked up. Thanks for hiding this one here and giving us the option for a nice easy find. Cheers GSEL

#346. A quick night park and grab to keep up my current streak. Very quiet road at 7pm. Tftc.
A very sensibly located cache - at least in the context of this road. I was relying heavily on the audible proximity warning from my GPS because obviously one should not be distracted by glancing at screens when driving this road. The warning went off about 100m before the cache as I was driving up the hill. At that point I basically pulled off at the first place with lots of room and the cache was just 13m from there. I looked for a candidate hide and spotted a common hide for places like this and put my hand straight on the cache before a single car even went by. TFTC!
Cache # 3,798 - An instant find in the dark this morning. An exceptionally busy day ahead, so glad that there are still a few park and grabs around. Thanks for putting this here. One of my favourite valleys in Wellington. TNLNSL. TFTC!

This was only a short drive from home so I called here this morning. There was plenty of adjacent parking, and with nice accurate coordinates I found the cache in the first place I put my hand. Signed log, TFTC
Walked over from Karori which was not easy as the road from the top to GZ is not designed for walkers so a lot of zigging and zagging and pausing at relatively safe points to avoid getting wiped out by the moderately busy traffic.
Nice to get away from the areas being mobbed by Metlink Safari participants!
Did manage a glimpse at what seemed to be one of the best viewpoints where a vehicle would not be able to stop.

TFTC. After an abandoned attempt on a multi across town (long story), I headed out here in an attempt to get my caching fix for the weekend. An easy find, once I got the car turned around and parked on the correct side of the road.
#9144. {FTF} at 08:30. Park and grab in Makara this morning. Past the heavy traffic in Karori, there were a lot fewer vehicles on Makara Road. Fortunately, GZ itself was all quiet during the visit. Quick find. The cache was in excellent condition, all nice and dry inside. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.

A pleasant drive over the hill from Karori. There's plenty of safe parking at GZ, and the cache is a straightforward find.
