Full time Nomads, travelling around Australia since 2014. Back in WA to visit family and work Grain Harvest. Currently staying in Goomalling while we wait for the crops to be ready. [^] Today we headed out to explore Dowerin, Minnivale and Wyalkatchem using Geocaching as a guide.TFTC WheatbeltScience
WA Big Trip Winter 2024. Day 71 - Goomalling to Wyalkatchem via Dowerin. I had a steady preparation for the day and got on the road on a cloudy and windy day. I did a few caches along the road to Dowerin and stopped at the cemetery before catching up with Sacada and Aquillus at Dowerin. There were some good caches around town and even an open shop for morning tea. Next was the drive to Wyalkatchem where I go to visit two old wells, one still sharp and deep with water in it. The Welcome to Wyalkatchem art is amazing. Once I set up at the caravan park, it rained very steadily, so I stayed inside for the afternoon. Off to Westonia tomorrow with three new counties to visit. The well here was vary impressive. It has a huge cage over it and I am sure I would not like to fall in. Lots of water, but I have no idea how deep. The cache was found nearby and I headed back to the car. Thanks for the cache WheatbeltScience48327.10 TNLNVisited: World Traveling Gold GC A#6 & Flash Mob XII A#319**Albida**
Heading home after a few days in the wheatbelt with BJA3.Cache found in good condition with no issues. Thanks for placing this hide for us and others to enjoy finding!
Caching with Team Barritts on the Koorda GIFF weekend getaway. Thanks to all the CO's for placing & maintaining their hides and bringing us to some fantastic new spots!
Walked through the snake infested grass only to arrive at gz and find a road. TFTC nice hide.
Headed out super early to pick up a pile of caches that had come out since we were last up this way. Visited some very interesting locations along the way and all caches were found with a few tricky ones that took a bit of searching. Thanks to all the CO,S for placing these caches.
Wow... that's what they used to look like. It's all a bit fenced off as one side of the well has started to undercut but cache was quickly found. Then I dropped the top. Eek. Fortunately we carry a metal detector and soon had it reunited with the rest of the cache. Tftc
Found on my second try for this one on a lovely day for caching like the history of the area.

Found on a trip to the west from South Australia., visiting friends and relatives, checking out the sites and finding caches of interest along the way.
The weather has been really good since I headed north of Perth. There has been no rain and the winds haven’t been too bad. Makes a welcome change from the previous 3 weeks when I was constantly beating my way into strong winds and it rained almost every night! I hope it holds out for the next couple of weeks as I head south end east on my way home.
The cache was found at good coordinates and is in good condition. Nice hide too!
Thanks WheatbeltScience for the cache. A favourite point from me too for showing me an interesting spot I’d have not otherwise known about.

We've visited a lot of wells over the past few days but I think this one was most impressive. Interesting to read about the history of the area. TFTC WheatbeltScience
Found a few weeks ago on my way home from Mukinbudin just getting around to logging now. Thanks
Out in the Wheatbelt again for the second consecutive weekend. This weekend the plan was to attack a number of towns in the North Eastern Wheatbelt and attend the FOTT event in Minnivale. It was a terrific weekend. Thank you to all the COs involved in providing entertainment this weekend.
A very cool spot that otherwise would have been driven past at 110kmh! For future finders, there is a track in from the road to Minnivale. Cheers WheatbeltScience!

Spent last night in minivale and decided to head out today with Allied_OZ, Granett and SVKR_WA for a day grabbing some nearby caches. Plan initially was Dowerin, then Wyalkatchem then wherever. Sir Fancy and Cirrus_WA joined us for the morning as well.
Many thanks to WheatbeltScience for placing and maintaining WST - Namelcatching Well. I was here at 7:51 am on Saturday and this is my find 9637.

The plan today is loose, no real plan just Caching with mates.

You can still drive to this one. We changed the log book while here as it was full.
Fun little drive down the track, went to obvious place first then checked gps
This is my 865 find.
Thank you WheatbeltScience for placing and maintaining this cache.
Geology rocks but Geography is where it’s at!
Last cache for today and we parked up and slowly made our way through the scrub and wildflowers.
Once we got to GZ the cache was found quickly. We spent some time checking out the well before heading a few minutes up the road to set up camp.

Arranged an extra leave pass day from the boss to be able to head out to the Marshmallow event in Minnivale for a couple of nights.
Teamed up SirFancy for the drive and slowly made our way out stoping for caches along the way.
There were a couple of target caches we were chasing in Ellenbrook and Dowerin.
We got to the campsite at 3:30, set up the tents and joined fellowship for the evening.
A great start to the weekend with 12 finds and 11 Labs.

After the Northam GG series, I went driving out to Goomalling, Dowerin, Cunderdin and Meckering.
What a massive well! The falling in the well risk sign was a bit much. The cage enveloping the well was impressive. I parked on the road and walked in.

On a road trip up to the Mid West. Today, we drove to Dowerin, Cadoux, down to Cunderdin and on to Quairading where we stopped for the night. We enjoyed the variety of hides, particularly those that were placed on or near signs that depicted the history of the area. Thank you to all the CO's for placing and maintaining these caches for our enjoyment.
Find #4030 for us today.

Very sneaky & clever. That tested us but we found it. Thanks for getting us off the main road.
Has to park a bit up the road at the track and walk in. Well worth the visit. Very well made well Without caching we would never have known this little gem of history was here. DPAW have a information sign at the well but no directional signage into it. A pity this little bit of history isn’t printed better. Thanks for bringing us here.
We are travelling around the wheatbelt, this is our last day and we are on our way home.
I didn't see the waypoint for the track so I ended up walking in from the road.
It was a quick find once I was there.
This was find number 4 for the day.

Making the most of the public holiday today with Itskate and B12. Travelled around 670km and picked up one FTF for the day.
The weather was simply amazing and great to see a bit of water on the ground after the last week of rain.
Thanks to all the CO’s for your placement of these caches bringing me to some interesting places.
Looking forward to seeing you at WAGB Albany during the WA day long weekend.

Only one more cache in the Wheatbelt science trail to go and we’ve completed it.
Decided on a big public holiday run out to the Wheatbelt region of WA to finish up a great weekend of geocaching.
Started off with a FTF in Northam, which had surprisingly been left unfound for several days and ended up travelling 700 odd kilometres for the day throughout the region.
A great day out with Cravo10 and it’sKate.
Thanks to the local COs for their hides.

Out and about in the Central Wheatbelt area this weekend on a mission to grab some missing LGA's. After 1200 odd K's, 43 finds, a few DNF's and two nights under the stars, it was mission accomplished.
Parked very close to GZ here but took a while before I spotted the tricky little sucker. First cache in the Dowerin LGA so have a favourite for that.
WheatbeltScience I found your cache at 4:43pm, this was the 15th of 15 finds for me today and brings my total find count to 5875. The cache was in good order and I replaced it as found.

After two surgeries in the last two months, then getting bad news about more plus getting things done at home I thought it was time for a short getaway to recharge the mind so Mr dimor chose the location for a change and that happened to be Dowerin for three nights
Today was our day to 'spread our wings' a little and head to Wylie to cache.
I did think of walking to this one but with having a few problems managing that little essential activity at times and as Mr dimor doesn't mind the odd scratch on the LC so we drove up to the well.
Ants are very friendly here

Awesome spot!!
This weekend has been some time in the planning and we were heading up this way to drive the Wheatbelt Way Trail and collect geocaches along the route. We also had GCA caches, Waymarks and Sighters on the radar which should break up the trip nicely. We had no set plans for accommodation and we decided that we would see where we ended up each day to set up camp. This cache was one that we targeted on our mini adventure. Cheers and TFTC.
G’day there WheatbeltScience, I was in this area today and found your cache WST - Namelcatching Well GC7934A. I added my name to the log book at 9:35 am on 28 September 2019. A huge thanks to you for placing this cache here for us (and others) to find!
This cache find brings our total find count to 10958. Woohoo!!

Great cache, nifty hiding spot. Nice to see the well, very well hidden off the track
After a road stop look and see we decided the terrain was a bit rugged to bash through 100m so we went up to catch a different find but it got the better of us and we back tracked and so glad that we did. A very easy trek from the roadside to see what had us in awe. A bit of look around and down the gap we found it in great condition
Thank you for bringing us to this interesting place.
On a little road trip gathering some LGAs.

Hi there WheatbeltScience.
We found your cache **"WST - Namelcatching Well"** at 11:58:00 AM today. (This makes our find count 22327).
We are heading from SA to WAGB in Northam & we stopped off in Dowering on the way through. Now that we've settled in a nearby caravan park we have taken the opportunity to head out and find some of the caches we had couldn't have done with a caravan in tow.
We found 10 caches today & DNF'd 2. Thanks for placing this cache here, without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places on our nomadic travels around Australia.
**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found the cache around 3m from where the GPS said we should be looking.
**Cache Condition:** The container and log book are in good shape.
**Took:** Nothing.
**Left:** Nothing.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny.

this one took a while to spot, tricky little devil. The well held water at a much higher level than I was expecting, very interesting.

Second find on the way to Dowerin. Cache spotted by megawat60 but it took a joint effort to retrieve it. Interesting well and the water level quite high. TFTC.

[FTF] 01.10.17 kl 13:40 It is really good to end our 800km to station and back (3 days we did 1600km) with FTF. Most of the road I didn't have service and now in Dowerin I discovered that there is mee geocaches published. TFTH - First time visiting this well!
