EN : after having picnicked not far from the beach, our guide takes us to visit the center of New Zealand. We don't forget to take the photo requested for validation of this virtual. Unfortunately we will not have enough time to calculate the coordinates of the multi. Thank you to all the installers for the work carried out for our greatest pleasure. Greetings from France. Our Travel Bugs pass through this cache but do not come out of our backpack; they continue the adventure with us. Trip to New Zealand, decided very quickly , but that didn't stop us from preparing a small file of caches to search, as far as possible. The GC46 was, of course, at the top of that list! and there you have it, we visited it during our stay in Wellington. Yesss!! Our program should allow us to discover a large part of this country.FR : aprs avoir pique-niqu non loin de la plage, notre guide nous emmne visiter le centre de la Nouvelle Zlande. My first Lord of the Rings themed cache today. Fortunately Mr Dragon had his inhaler for the climb!! Thank you x
CaptainVimes and I have crossed the ditch to attend the Geo Toroa mega in Dunedin and tour around the South Island for two weeks. The climb up certainly got the heart pumping and the calves burning. Thanks kiwi-nomad and happy caching
After a nice walk on a pretty steep trail we arrived at gz. What a nice view upthere!!Tftc
Down in Nelson for a week with TheLandGirl and we spent this morning wandering around the city completing Adventures Labs, then as the weather improved we decided to take a walk up to the "Center of New Zealand." A lovely walk to the summit and a lovely outlook too. Photo attached of my GPSR at the monument there. TFTC!
What started off a wet and miserable morning doing ad labs around Nelson town centre with Vistra turned into a warm and pleasant afternoon. Perfect for a climb to the centre of NZ. With no gps to hand, I did take a kinda half selfie at the top. Hope this will suffice
26 juli 2024 16:28 wow, that was a hell of a climb, but with the reward of an magnificant view
Out and about after arriving in Nelson yesterday. Acclimatising is taking sometime after leaving sunny North Queensland. Thanks for brining me to this beautiful spot. I love that caching can be my tour guide
TFTC, fabulous walk took different routes up and down and thoroughly enjoyed the climb!! From the centre of the world in Ecuador 36 days ago to the centre of NZ
LOVE the view of the pine forest hills to the east and the autumn yellows and oranges of the Maitai valley. Beautiful views, thanks from Aus
A spur of the moment decision to walk to the Centre of New Zealand. A nice leg stretch walking through the bush. Thanks for placing the cache
I'm with a group on a round trip throgh New Zealand and today we visited the middle of New Zealand. Very nice views! Thanks a lot for this amazing virtual. Many greetings from Germany.
Thank you for the lovely Cache. It ist nice here , found with Xandixxx. Greetings from Bremen/Germany Millefolia
Didn't quite make it to middle earth, falling 1 metre short of putting a boot there. No hobbits present as I made it to the summit but plenty of muggles and MAMILs regaled in their lycra and clip in bike boots. Not a bad effort walking in those boots!!In Aussie if the MAMILs aren't treddling their way on the roads, you'll find them at cafes sipping their lattes. Interesting as I walked through the park, I found them congregating in big numbers under the shade of trees. There were plenty of MAMILs and MAFILs loafing around. TFTV kiwi-nomad.
Lots of muggles here atm, but the iconic nature of G0 makes it easy to pretend I'm just another tourist taking a selfie. tftc
Nice morning walk with some of our grandchildren. Great so see the awesome views over Nelson. Cheers
After a nice stay-over in Nelson we made the little hike up the hill to this nice lookout before driving further up the coast. TFTC. My find no. 8.171.
This was rainy day in Nelson, just for little walking on the hill above the city and back. Thanks for the cache.
Conquered the Middle of Earth with my OG teammate Rain (the dowg). Love this walk! Today felt a bit like windy Wellington but with sunnier skies (Man in the photo is a muggle)
We started in Christchurch then headed south. We reached Slope point and have been heading back northwards. We are now in middle earth. TFTC
1MinnieMoo and I made the effort to get up here and we were glad we did. We took the obligatory snaps and then moved on. TFTV kiwi-nomad
27/9/2023 Find #6642Day 19 of the Fangsoki/1MinnieMoo New Zealand South Island adventures. We are currently staying in Nelson for a couple of nights, and had a list of target caches we wanted to find. One of those caches brought us to the centre of New Zealand on a morning uphill hike. Arriving at the top, we had all of about 2 minutes on our own up here before others arrived and the place began to get busier. One group was having an absolute blast up here making phone calls and taking photos and videos to send to people back home. During this holiday we have done a circuit of the South Island over our 3 weeks and have now managed to visit the centre of NZ too, all without leaving the South. Thanks for the virtual kiwi-nomad.
Down in Nelson for a weeks caching with the Westie girls.Glad to be up here . The older I get the harder this hill is to climb.
Has been about 12 years since I climbed up here with a Walking Group on Tour !
Down from Auckand on a weeks caching holiday in Nelson with some caching mates!
Thanks for this new Virtual kiwi-nomad

Thanks for this new Virtual kiwi-nomad
It has been 4 decades plus since I climbed up here, although I feel my family and I drive up here, but I have been told that couldnt be and I must be confusing another high place. I was very pleased to make it to the top; slow and steady is me. I did enjoy walking through the bush sections lower down. What a marvellous view from the top.In Nelson with TwigNZ, YetiNZ, Mr-Mcgoo for a few days of caching and meeting up with other cachers from Nelson. All logs signed as NMTY and apologies for the late log.Kia ora rawa atu for the cache kiwi-nomad.
Day 3 of my Nelson trip, along with NZ_B, YetiNZ and Mr-Mcgoo. This is something we planned a while back and have very much been looking forward to
During our time here, all found caches were signed as NMTY (regardless of whether 2, 3 or all 4 of us hadn't found it previously), or with individual names for Challenge Caches according to whomever was claiming the find.
Last night we had planned out our day to start near the top of Boulder Bank and work our way back towards Nelson. The only problem was the sudden publication of 4 new Caches, and what with New Zealand's foremost FTF addict amongst our number, we had a bit of a debate as to whether we would stick with Plan A or switch to a mad-dash Plan B. Plan A won out so here we are.
It's been a long time since I had made the effort to get to the geographical centre of NZ. My son wasn't even born back then! But of course now I had the added incentive of finding some geocaches to entice me.
As always (on a good day) the views from here are fantastic, albeit the sun was now a little in our faces. But we soaked up the sun, did some caching, chatted to a few tourists who wanted to know what me and my compadres were talking about
Thanks for bringing me up here again.

Some time ago a group of us from Wellington decided that what we should do is come down to the Nelson region for a long weekend of Geocaching. So we did. With minimal specific agendas, and lots of unfound caches in the area, the goal for this four day break is exploring, having fun, and finding geocaches. Here is one we found.
I had visited this spot once before, back in the 90's, long before Geocaching was a thing. Apparently I was a little fitter back then. That said, I made it to the top (and beyond, as geocaching required), so I was happy (despite how I look in the photo attached).
---
Thanks to kiwi-nomad for placing and maintaining this cache. I enjoy each and every cache I find, and it is only with CO's like this placing them out in the world that this wonderful game continues.
[DGSc-Bulk] tagging to help me generate a list for GC30AD8 - DGSc Challenge.

(# 7901) A caching trip to Nelson with NZ_B, TwigNZ and YetiNZ. Day 3 of a 4 day trip interspersed with exploring and humour. Trudged up here for the beautiful view.
This was our first cache in South Island! Visiting the Centre of New Zealand monument was an unforgettable experience. As we hiked up to the monument, we were greeted by breathtaking views of Nelson and its surroundings. Along the way, we had an unexpected encounter with a little native creature, an echidna. It was a delightful surprise to see this unique and fascinating creature in its natural habitat. The combination of stunning landscapes and encountering the echidna made our visit truly memorable. Day 6/11 exploring New Zealand.
Had a lovely walk to the lookout this morning with the Nelson Babywearing group. Got back down just as it started to rain.

Today we went to Nelson and of course there was also a little laughter. We also wanted to be the center of New Zealand. The view was very nice.

We arrived in Nelson and enjoyed a walk around town before heading to Abel Tasman NP for a kayaking adventure. What a lovely walk and reward with great views. TFTC
We are visiting from Palmerston North. We were impressed even miss 5 yo made the walk up to the top. Amazing view and cool location for a virtual. Thanks!
A bit of an uphill walk in the wrong shoes so it took a bit longer than it should have. Lovely views though so it was worth it
Wicm Jnr navigated me to a random spot on the side of a random road, and we started walking. More random navigation, guided in part by barriers, but eventually we found ourselves here. TFTC.
