Exploring along this way today, and made a short detour down here, grabbing a couple of caches in the area while on my way through to Te Anau. Not to busy being a week day, and quickly reached the GZ after parking nearby. A great view of the river from here, certainly a nice spot for a virtual, TFTC
It's day 8 of my 3-week bucket list road trip around South Island. Today, I'm heading from Wanaka to Te Anau in preparation for a trip to Milford Sound tomorrow. A lovely river view here. That it had something todo with Lord of the Rings means nothing to me, its just a nice river view. Thanks very much for placing this virtual cache here for the enjoyment of all.
Found this one with TTO1 and TTO2 today. TTO1 and I are touring New Zealand with TTO2 for a couple of weeks and our travels brought us by this cache. So, we just had to stop and find it. Very cool spot here. I had just watched the movie, so it was cool to see this area. Picture posted showing TTO1 and me at GZ.Were really enjoying our visit and have been exploring lots of cool spots. Im sure that we will still have a lot that we didnt get to see on this trip, so I look forward to coming back again some time to see some more of this beautiful country. Thanks for the fun!
Und weiter geht unser groer Neuseeland-Urlaub! Fritzi1219 und ich genieen die einmalige Landschaft, das tolle Wetter und die vielen neuen Eindrcke! Day seventeen of our epic New Zealand Adventure with The Morris.Stayed in Te Anau and spent the day going to Doubtful Sound. We were on a tour so we didn't get many caches done.Heavy cloud over the mountains and rain later in the day.I can remember the scene but not the river. I will have to watch the movie again.A very high bank here.I'm from Melbourne, Australia. Thanks, Robmc.
#859 10:28AMNZ tripAlways loved the lord of the rings. I was so excited to spot this one on the map. We stayed in te anau for two nights did the cruise yesterday this morning we left our hotel/logde and quickly headed over to get this cache and check out the super overflowing river. Thanks for placing this cache Chakoulz
Day 17 of our Enzed adventures with Robmc and today is the last full day in Te Anau.Todays scheduled activity is the boat, bus, boat ride to DoubtfulAlsoNot ASound. After a great feed at the club we headed out to collect a few caches before we collapse into bed. This virtual was our main target - we all love LOTRThanks for contributing to our amazing holiday.
Visiting NZ from Virginia, USA. Spending a few days in Te Anau and Milford Sound before heading to Queenstown. Trying to grab caches in between awesome local adventures. Got to go back and watch the movie to understand what Im looking at here, but its beautiful nonetheless. Thanks for this easy cache.
CaptainVimes and I have crossed the ditch to attend the Geo Toroa mega in Dunedin and tour around the South Island for two weeks.Such a beautiful spot and special to me as a LOTR fan. Thanks Chakoulz and happy caching
The wizards are back at it again. Apparently, some experiment got away from them, resulting in a "minor" rip in the space-time continuum. This time, a bunch of very short people with hairy feet appeared out of thin air, looking confused and clutching teapots. Wizards assured me theyre from another dimension entirely, probably harmless.Probably harmless. Thats what they said about the time we had pink snow. I told them I dont care if these folk are from Uberwald or the Upside-Downjust keep them from loitering in the Shades and trying to throw rings down drains.Meanwhile, Carrots given them directions to the nearest inn, which is bound to end in disaster. The last thing we need is three-foot-tall tourists wandering around Ankh-Morpork. Nobby tried to sell them authentic Ankh-Morpork rings before I caught him. They seemed interested.
We missed the cache up on this very wet day, but after pies in Te Anau we made our way back. Loved it, thank you x from ???? UK
Found with TARV2014 during a road trip down the West Coast, over the Haast Pass, back round Te Anau and to Milford, Dunedin to check in for the Mega Event, and then back to Tasman via Christchurch.TARV has done the all the detail of contacting CO's where necessary with info for Virtuals and Earth-Caches, and posing photos as required. Thanks to all the CO's along the way - the frequent stops, learning more about some local information, and enjoying the stunning views was fantastic. Thanks to all for the caches.
Pretty heavy rain all day so SJT_NZ and I headed to Manapouri with a wee detour into the start of the Kepler, we're down from Moutere in the Top of the South so on a roadie down the West Coast and back up the East. Thanks for a fun virtual, despite the rain, river looking stunning.
#4035 Today is day 22 of my geocaching vacation in New Zealand. I'm driving the scenery route from Te Anau to Invercargill and finding geocaches along the way.Found it! I'm not a LotR fan, but it's still cool to see the movie location.Chakoulz, thank you for the cache!-crystaloops from Taipei, Taiwan on October 22, 2024 @ 11:09:56[GC7B7BC] Anduin River: Lord of the Rings was a D1.5/T2.0 Virtual Virtual Cache at the time of finding.
I feel so nerdy and I love it. My wife and I are from Hawaii and came here and obviously I needed to see this place. Thanks for placing the virtual cache here!
We also passed by here during a lovely holiday in New Zealand. If there is also a virtual cache, we will of course also take it with us.Cache owner, Chakoulz, thank you for bringing us here.Greetings from the Netherlands.
Found this one on my cycling trip across the country. Always nice to get of the saddle for a bit.TFTC
What a stunning location, thanks so much for bringing me here! I think I might need to give LOTR a rewatch after travelling around the area, it's been too long! I'm a domestic traveller, visiting from Auckland NZ. TFTC!
Awesome spot, TFTCCame up for a 3 day trip from edendale, Southland. Love the area.
As youngest team member of team GO_Jack, I want to do some caches during my six-month trip to New Zealand and Japan.During my trip through New Zealand I tried to visit a number of Lord of the Rings locations. That's why this one was obviously on my list. Apart from Lord of the Rings, it is also a beautiful area. Or is that precisely why... Nevermind, greetings from The Netherlands (that's where I come from). And of course our team will leave a favorite here!#3.651 - Chakoulz TFTC!
Great spot. Since many years i love LOTR very much and i have seen the movies many times. So i was happy, that one of the scene was near Te Anau. On the way back from Manapori we (SiamFee and I) stopped here and visit the place.Nice to remember.Thx for this virtualSiamkiwiUpps we comes from Oldenburg, North of Germany, nearly 18300 km from here

Cool place to visit, seems familiar Thanks for the cache./herrFamaxe from Sweden
Just getting around to logging the caches I found while visiting New Zealand from the U.S. with LaFavorite Cacher. We had a great time traveling around the country seeing the sights and picking up some caches along the way. Thank you for being a part of our adventures! Note: LaFavorite Cacher has sent in the answers for any earthcaches or virtuals required for both of us.
GeoJayne and I are visiting from the U.S. and are heading over to Te Anau today after doing the shotover jet boat. That was quite the experience! The weather didn't look great, but we really didn't run into too much rain. I was thankful for that considering it was day 2 of driving on the left side of the road. LOLThis cache was on our way to the motel we were staying at in Manapouri. We loved the location and were happy to take our photo there. Thank you for the smiley and the fun!
During our two-month trip through New Zealand and Australia, we go from Te Anau to Wanaka today. Before we really hit the road, we visited a number of caches near Te Anau.Yesterday we came here by bus, but today we went there with our own rental car. We took a nice photo for this virtual cache.**Chakoulz**, thanks for the cache.
We are currently on a eight week holiday which is mostly spent in New Zealand and Australia. However, the first three days were spent in Signapore as a nice break from an otherwise long flight. The day before yesterday we drove from Mount Cook to Te Anau. We had a boat tour in Doubtful Sound yesterday. Today it is already time to proceed on to our next destination Wanaka. Since it is not a long drive we have plenty of time for stops. So we don't drive far but have a walk in this nice area instead and hike a very small part of the Kepler track. Since we are LOTR fans we had to visit this virtual as well. Very nice spot and we enjoyed ourselves. Thank you very much for this fun virtual. Visiting from The Netherlands.
Mrs SoBad has been a fan since her Form 6 (now year read the Hobbit to the class. She did enjoy the movies as well so a location we were passing was worth a sidestep. Lovely sun today as well.Thanks.
Today visit this LOTR spot. Amazing. Nice view. Flying with the drone over the river. Tftc! Greez from Switzerland.
Fantastic view - a Lord of the rings fan is happy!Travelling from Denmark (originally from Bulgaria).TFTC
Beautiful place! We biked there today and the weather was lovely. TFTC from Canada
Went for a bike ride and stopped by here. We're from Canada but live on our boat and travel the world. When we got back to the campervan and good internet I went and checked out the scene. Seems like the place.
Our last day in Te Anau and our trip to the caves has been cancelled due to yesterday's rain.So a bit of geocaching is the order of the day.All caches found with no problems.Thank you to all caches owners for their placements
We visited Te Anau and Manapouri today. We stopped on the road to see the loukout on the river. Thabks for the cache and greetings from France.
Today we booked a guided tour to several Lord of the rings scenes and had a great experience there! Then we continued our roadtrip to Te Anau. This virtual cache matched perfectly to our todays experinece! We were on a guides LOTR tour starting in Queenstown and we some movie locations: Ithilien, Lothlorien and Isengard. Our tour guide was really great. He had lots of intersting facts and the highlight was when sang a Maori song and later one song from The Hobbit - really excellent. This spot is really worth visiting - we expected every minute that a member of the fellowship would appear Happy hunting!TFTCschnuckel1[#24019]

#7309Nice walk to GZ and a lovely spot, thanks for bringing us here and greetings from Newcastle, Australia! Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache Chakoulz
#7312Its great to be back in New Zealand after an enforced break for a few years. Day 3, in Te Anau, catching up on some caches after more touristy stuff yesterday. We shot along the river here in a jet boat yesterday, but the driver didn't stop here, so couldn't get the photo. We had just walked out to Spirit Lake, so stopped off here on the way back - it is a great spot. I can't confess to being a fan of these movies, but they did have great locations.TFTC!!
# #7,013 #----------I must confess, I havent watched the Lord of the Rings movies in over 15 years. I was very, very young when I watched them. Shame on me. I must revisit them, especially as I intend to visit Hobbiton in a couple of weeks! This was a beautiful spot. As for where I am from, I am from Warwick, England. Not quite as mountainous! TFTC!!! ----------> All geocaches are signed as mmmPIZZA or mPZ
What a nice view! We are from Switzerland and are visiting NZ on our half year world trip.
Great view here! Thanks for showing us! Here are my kids at the edge. Bit of rainy day but still very nice to visit. We're from The Netherlands but living in Nelson now for a year, tftc!
Muggle hubby and I enjoyed remembering all the different scenes shot here. We are visiting from California! Thanks for placing a cache here!
Visiting here from Adelaide (South Australia) for the 2nd time (because its just stunning here). Walked from the Control Gates along the Kepler down to the swing bridge, and then back along the bike trail, collecting caches along the way. A 23km walk with a stunning forest trail next to a beautiful clear river.Photo attached
What a spot. KJR took us here and we chilled for an hour. Awesome! TFTC. Traveled from Oamaru for this
Found during our stay in Te Anau.Thank you for bringing us to this very nice look out.Greetings from Canada.
After traveling around Australia with Oopie for 7 weeks, we have now been traveling with the camper in New Zealand for 4 weeks. Along the way we will of course also visit various types of caches in beautiful places, including this one. Thanks CO for creating and laying this cache.
Together with Travelser I'm going Down Under. We are driving around with a motorhome. After 7 weeks driving around through Australia we arrived the 2th November in New Zealand. For ten days we will cross the Northern Island and than for 2 weeks the Southern Island.During our trip we of course search for several caches. Most of them brought us to very nice spots, like this one.All the CO's, and in this case Chakoulz, thanks for bringing us here and give our trip a special accent.
Mr is a huge LOTR fan so this was a must on our journey. Mrs was disappointed there were no rock carved statues Photo attached as requestedWe are from a country far, far away
1MinnieMoo and I were visiting from Australia and we had this virtual on our radar.I looked at the map. How does one get there? Thankfully, it did not involve us walking along the shore (or the lack of). We pulled up at a likely area and found what we needed. What a stunning view from here. TFTV Chakoulz
18/9/2023 Find #6550Day 10 of the Fangsoki/1MinnieMoo New Zealand South Island adventure. Today we head from Invercargill to Te Anau. The weather is cold, rainy, and windy. Having just completed the Kepler Challenge cache, we headed here next. Parking the car, we wandered in through the track and came to a clearing. Wow! The force in that water down there! And looking at how it has eroded that basin shape over time is quite impressive. Thanks for the virtual cache Chakoulz from Australia!
Fantastic place to visit!! Have come all the way from Christchurch, New Zealand! 25tj wedding anniversary!!
Up in Te Anau for our 7 year wedding anniversary, it was super foggy the morning we did this cache so can't see much in the photo, we are from Invercargill, NZ, tftc
Yay! TFTC! I came all the way from Vancouver BC Canada to find this cache Thanks for being part of the adventure!

Thank you for bringing me here. I'm from Switzerland and enjoying my time traveling around New Zealand.
spent 6 great weeks in New Zealand with my ?? The start was a bit bumpy (Cyclone Gabrielle) but then it got better and better. We travelled to both islands and discovered a lot. We photographed and filmed many beautiful things, but most of it stayed in our hearts.Almost everywhere we stopped, a cache was already waiting for us. Most of the caches are well maintained and easy to find. With mostly very nice weather, we saw a lot of this impressive island. In many places, caches were waiting for us, which were sometimes easy and sometimes difficult to find. This cache was also included and was successfully signedWe puzzled a lot in advance and the tours ?? were well prepared So this box was also well found.now I have another on my personal cache card.many thanks to [^] **Chakoulz** [^] for the effort and the cache and greetings from Germany ???? Yahoo, another Lord of the Rings location!
This was a very picturesque spot and i was in need of sustenance after walking from Te Anau, so i sat down nearish the edge here a good while soaking in the view.
Interesting rope attachment to a nearby tree down to the river. Descended a bit to check things out, but not all the way as i still had a lot of ground to cover.
After reading a lot of past logs and seeing many a picture, the river height has definitely seen deeper days.
This is virtual cache number 123 too!
Thanks chakoulz for choosing to place a virtual cache at this iconic location and congratulations on recieving a virtual reward!
I'm from the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia!
