Friday caching in Te Atatu Peninsula. My third visit to the area. Always pleasure to back. Found several caches on my way. This hide was one of them.
Well placed little hide.

As Janno216's 8-month stay in NZ was coming to an end he asked me whether I wanted to do a big day trip out to the Te Atatu Peninsula, and I as always interested in doing more caches decided to come along. After arriving we were quite skeptical about the whether the weather would hold and fortunately it did. We almost got 50 but sadly we got a flat battery and that consumed too much time. But very few DNF's helped. Thanks too all the CO's who placed the cache here. Nice and easy find here.

My eight months stay in New Zealand is nearly over so I wanted to do one more big Geocaching tour in this great country! I asked thegreatauk wether he is interested in a big day trip - and of course he was. So we chose this day and made our way to Te Atatu Peninsula with our rental car.
We were a bit worried about the weather, but fortunately we only saw the dark clouds but just had a few drops and no strong rain.
Most of the Caches were easy to find for us, we only had a very few number of DNF's, so we reached our goal of 40 Caches without problems. Probably we also would have reached the fifty if we would not have had a flat battery… However,we enjoyed a great day with a lot of nice Caches!

Quick and easy find here!

Thanks for hiding!

Great spot. Lots of little kmuggles about rock hunting

27-Aug-18
After having to bypass this one due to muggles nearby we dropped in on the way back to collect it. We searched all the immediate areas with no luck here and were thinking of having to give up for a DNF after a good 15 minutes (or more?) in the area when Tuolei emerged with the cache that he found lying on the ground int the undergrowth. Cache is still in good condition and has been placed back where it appears it should be. TFTC.

This was one of the harder finds that Bennett24 and I made today - as opposed to the harder DNFs we had, which were of course even harder. When we first approached this one we couldn't look as two muggles were earnestly discussing the benefits of the tree that they'd cut down in the back of a nearby back garden. While they might not have taken any notice of us we decided not to take a chance.

On our way back we decided that the muggles having left the coast was clear to take a look for this one. We searched many places but didn't have any luck. After quite a while we decided to look at a broader area and eventually found the cache as it had got dislodged from where we worked out it was supposed to go and had rolled off. Bit of a lucky find here, but we'll take all the G-2 caches we can.

After we signed the log we determined where the cache was supposed to go at around Mike's head height. All good here (now) and thanks, as always, for the cache.

Today was really the last chance the HKCB and I had had to gather the required intellegence (caches) for the Hidden Souviner Challenge and as such, since we had only begun collecting caches towards this last week, time was rapidly running out.
All caches signed as "HKCD"

So come wet or fine we were to collect caches. So plans were hatched and we departed at 'Oh My God its only 3am" from Hamilton headed for the big smoke (Home by 3pm). Rain it was to be for the start of the day, clearing up by about 9am then as we packed the car and got on the motorway heading south it started again. We just laughed heartidly at our good fortune.
We did well for the day with myself collecting some 65 caches towards the total and only about 3-4 DNF's, so for all that good work we have left quite the hole in the map ready for the next visit.

Thank you all the CO's for your fantastic contributions to our days efforts and may your wars continue to populate the Geocaching Maps. I know they are generic logs but then sometimes you get that.

Thank you for the cache, thank you for the placement

With the Hidden Creatures Souvenirs ending soon, and not much of a tally to my name so far one big push was going to be needed to get over the line. Cats&Dragons was is a similar boat, so after a quick scout of the maps Te Atutu, and the nearby motorway cycleway looked like just the ticket to get us both the numbers we needed.

A early start of 3am (this is getting more and more regular) from hamilton saw us starting the hunt just before 5am. The weather wasn't playing along at first as we had drizzle for the first hour or so, but it cleared up once the sun came up and stayed away right up to the point we headed for home. It turned out to be a very successful day with more than enough found to uncover all the Hidden Creatures.

We found a great varity of caches over the day, with some really great hides as well as one or two that were too good for us, or muggles had got them. I'll mention a few here and there that were extra memorable as I get to them, but unfortunetly I only have time for a cut and paste log for most. However a huge thanks to the CO's as the quality of caches were very high.

Small is beautiful. Thanks for the cache.

21-Jul-18
Out to find some caches and get another Hidden Creatures souvenir, plus working towards qualifying for a challenge cache. As there have been lots of caches added since out last visit to Te Atatu, and we wanted so park and grabs due to some showers at home, this looked like a likely area. Won't go any further north from here as the tide is in. TFTC

19-Jul-18
With the discovery of an Abandoned Outpost nearby, I took the opportunity to patrol the northern beaches, and retrace the steps of the NSA invasion, while looking for the last hidden creature. Coordinates spot on for this one. TFTC.

18-Jul-18
Time to clear out the peninsula again since my last visit. Parked nearby, wandered along the path and the views this morning were beautiful. Cache located with no problems. Thanks

15-Jul-18
After a wet afternoon caching around Point Chev/Ponsonby, yorkshirekiwi83 and I returned to Te Atatu, where the sun was shining, so we went out to grab a few more caches. Looked in the wrong tree to start with, but quickly found the cache when we shifted attention to another tree! TFTC!

15-Jul-18
Vistra and I were out for the day, it had just stopped raining and I could do with a walk, had a couple to grab close to home on a nice walk so we headed there, as did a whole heap of muggles making the most of the break in the rain.. Great to get a few more towards the hidden creatures. TFTC

14-Jul-18
Mr P and I were doing a sweep of the area - checking for radiation contamination after the recent hostilities. The GZ was clear - quick search and no reading. T4tc

09-Jul-18
The rain didn't eventuate so decided to take a stroll and collect a few caches. Nice quick find here. TFTC

08-Jul-18
Got this with our 6 year old.

08-Jul-18
Found on a family afternoon walk with the pups!

07-Jul-18
No trouble finding this one though I do question the Not So Amazing troops claiming victory!

06-Jul-18
Visited last week in the pouring rain but couldn't find it. Returned today and found it quickly. Long live the NSA! TFTC Smile

01-Jul-18
After an event today we shot down here to locate this one.

30-Jun-18
We missed this at the first pass, so decided to take another look on the way back past. Set about searching again, and something was spotted on the ground. Looked like it had fallen out so wedged it in where we thought it could have been, although we weren't entirely sure. Will send a pic to the CO. Glad to have smilies all around the coastal work

30-Jun-18
Enjoying a wander around the peninsula on this nice sunny afternoon. Quickly spotted the Generals handiwork, nicely done, cheers

20-Jun-18
A dot day today, only 3 more days after this and I can claim at least 2 or 3 puzzle finals with a finished D/T grid! It was dark and raining but I had to go out still. I put on a brave face and off I went. Thought this cache looked interesting and ended up searching the wrong tree! But got there in the end and tried to keep the paper dry while I signed it, cheers G.

20-Jun-18
We had previously seen this reminder of the NSA victory on the morning after the cache was published. On that occasion we did not sign the log when we found that we had missed the FTF. Returned today to add our name and claim this as our cache of the day. Thanks.

19-Jun-18
Nice quick find despite the gps going all wonky...cheers V.

18-Jun-18
I had to visit the grey and black water disposal site south of the motorway and seeing that I was in the area decided to pick a few more caches.

My GPS had me searching in another area before I widened my search. Bingo!

Cheers for the cache.

17-Jun-18
After Mr NZT commented a few weeks back that I was in front of him in number of caches found this year he took great delight in going out caching with us for a day in an area where I already had quite a few and he didn’t. After that adventure I was still ahead by 10 but I noticed last night that he must have done some secret caching as he is 10 in the lead! This situation needs rectifying so with the geo-kids otherwise occupied I drafted a plan and what better spot to go to other than waring locals...they will be sympathetic to my plight...the chase is ON!!

Well secured in place but soon had log in hand.

Thanks for the cache.

16-Jun-18
Picked the wrong tree first, an easy find when at the right one.

15-Jun-18
Another early morning raid brings me to the GZ in the dark and drizzle this morning but a quick find gets me on my way again. I must come back and do this walkway in the daytime. TFTC on Streak Day #528

11-Jun-18
What a lovely day to wander around the walkway here!
The anti personal Device had already been dealt to...
Thank goodness.
After the check up , I noticed a Film crew...filming an episode of Shortland Street!

10-Jun-18
It really does help to know Gorby as he proved to be a big (pun?) help here in locating this one without even knowing it.

Not too many options to investigate and it wasn't long before we had the cache in hand. Another one down with a80 this afternoon. TFTC

When Intel came in that the Peninsula was once again under siege we didn't take this threat seriously, presuming our general was in the area and able to neutralize the situation single-handedly on the night. That was our first mistake because no doubt, like us, he was already on the bug juice.
So, sober and having had a good sleep we headed straight for this one at 0600 hours only to see we'd been beaten by a hun. Obviously they're not familiar with radioing logs through like we do here. Never mind, G_2 needs all the mercenary help he can get, but from how many different countries does that take???
Some very good use of weaponry deploymANT G_2!

10-Jun-18
Decided for a rare trip into this war zone with the protection of local ally evilno9. TFTC

10-Jun-18
We came out to deal with more Nuisance Suspect Annoyances only to see some Jerry had beaten us to it the previous night. Clearly there is no victory to be had here by anyone, including G_2. How can there be victory when the TAP war is still on? Nice work though! Big Grinjoint 2nd to find Big Grin

10-Jun-18
Mummy's sick, so Daddy and the girls have come out for a big walk around the top of Te Atatu Peninsula. This was the second find of our walk - nice to pick up a "fresh" one like this. Thanks!

09-Jun-18
[FTF] Yippee. We got the notifications and ten minutes later we were sitting in our rental caching vehicle. We stay in an AirBnB in Massey so it wasn't far at all.
Found this one at night time but wasn't a problem with proper torch.
Thanks for showing! Tftc
