# 9590 Back in WA for a bit from Canberra. It always feels like summer when I'm here. We'll be travelling between Perth, Albany/Denmark and Margaret River over two weeks. While it's not a geo-trip, I should still be able to grab a few.Answers sent to the CO. Thanks SpatialRiq for the Earthcache
I visited Elephant Cove on a truly abysmal day, in pouring rain and wind, while walking the Bibbulmun Track. It was a fascinating place to visit and I have sent my answers to the CO.
Find number 13816 at 11:09:02AM on Sunday the 8 September 2024We're on our way to WA Goes Big, travelling from Croydon (Melbourne, Victoria) with a caravan in tow and making a leisurely caching holiday across the Nullarbor and back.Today we're wandering around and about grabbing a cache here and a cache there, lunching at the bakery and lots of walking.WOW, what an amazing place, next time I come back it needs to be warmer so I can swim **Thanks for placing this cache SpatialRiq**---*WOW, so much happening here in Victoria*Dont forget to log your will attend for Victorias first ever Block Party in March 2025, the [**The Sunbury Event**](https://coord.info/GCAP417).Theres also all those lists of amazing geocaches at [Geocaching Victorias List webpage]( https://geocachingvictoria.com.au/information/great-caching-lists), go check them out.
What an absolutely outstanding location. We spent a few hours in the area marvelling at the granite monolith, and then surprisingly at the basalt so close by. Without this EC, we may not have noticed the unusual difference in geology here. Answers sent to CO. A definite FP added for highlighting this geology through geocaching. Thanks SpatialRiq Domsky
I've visited this area before, pre caching! Today, it was great to return and explore some more. I'm sure I would have noticed the Basalt the first visit, but it's cool to return knowing what the rock is and to look closer at it. An unofficial observation... basalt is kinder and smoother for feet than granite! Thanks for highlighting.
After standing at the viewpoint seeing everything but elephants , we made our way down towards the beach and then they appeared in all their splendour We had a lovely swim and then I wander a Ross the rocks past the fishermen to the GZ while Mrs T dried off in the sun.TFTC - answers sent
Trobat! Encontrado!A trip around West-South of Australia, enjoying the views, beaches, nature and the sense of the country. Obviously, with some time to do caching along my way.Amazing place and one of the mos beautiful beaches I ever see. Was a great time and memory be there. Thanks for bring me here and know more about this curious location.Gracias! Thanks!
Ciao e grazie. #10880After spending the morning walking in the hinterland, we dedicate the afternoon to the sea. After a few hours lying on the beautiful Greens Pool beach, immersing ourselves in its clear waters, we take one last walk before returning to Denmark. We arrive at this equally beautiful beach, study the rocks and continue the walk.Hello and thanks. #10880
Day 2 of my adventure, heading between Albany and Denmark today. An overcast day and trying my luck at claiming a few more smilies along the way. So happy that this one of them. Answers to follow Some logs signed as N2OThis is my 12234find.Thankyou SpatialRiq for placing and maintaining this cache
This location deserves several favourite points, it has to be the most beautiful but also the most interesting beach we have seen. Loved doing this earthcache and walking amongst the elephants.
love this national park. didnt realise there had once been a volcanic dyke here. will send answers through once i have phone signal!
A beautiful place to visit this time of the year when there are lots of wild flowers. Me and emukka enjoyed exploring here, tftc!
Found after crossing the Nullabor and heading down to Esperance and Albany on our way around the SW coast. Spent the day touring around Denmark before camping out for the night about 15 km W of Walpole. Thanks for the very scenic and interesting earthcache SpatialRiq!
Wow, what a beautiful spot to visit. We didn't take the most conventional path, but nevertheless, we got here. We sat and gathered our answers, before heading back on a more conventional path. Thanks for bringing us here
Day 2 of our visit to Albany and doing some sightseeing and, of course, picking up a few caches.
This was our second Earthcache, and wow, what a beauty this was. We were so pleased we made time to squeeze this into our busy day. It was a nice walk down to see elephant rock and other formations, which were fabulous, and the views were stunning.

Called in here to check on this herd of Elephants ( I really couldn't see elephants and need some more imagination) and some more great scenery, a beautiful part of the world. Grabbed some answers as best I could and took some photos, answers sent, thanks for bringing me here and

TFTC. I was there in June and am now home in the Hunter Valley and catching up on all my Earthcaches I explored. I have wanted to come here in ages and I got to tick it off my bucket list. I loved the colour of the water and the rock formations here.
Veni. Vidi. Vici.
Visited Elephant rocks today. Looked first from the top lookout and was a little disapointed. Headed down to the lower lookout and was more impressed with the outlook. Could actually see the rocks did look elephantine. Took some photos, and gathered as much information as I could, given the rocks were too tricky for me to cross with two shot knees. Giving a fave, just because if it were not for this earthcache I would have left elephant rocks disappointed, as the first appearance did not look like the elephants as claimed.

What a magic place! First time I have been here and was reluctantly dragged here by Me&B... Who is now smugly saying I told you so.... Definitely worth a return visit. Answers sent to CO with photographic proof of visit.
Came a day earlier and there was beautiful weather so I fought I come back tomorrow to log my found, well let's say that weather couldn't get much worse , rain ,wind and waves. Got drenched all the way through my underwear but it's definitely worth a trip to such a beautiful place

I visited this earthcache on a trip to the west from Adelaide.
This morning, after another wet night camping near Denmark, I continued to head west and went into William Bay NP, primarily to do this earthcache at Elephant Rocks but also taking the opportunity to grab another Traditional cache while I was there.
The tide was well up this morning, making access to GZ a bit more tricky than it might have been. However no trouble making the required observations once I was there.
Its certainly a beautiful spot!
Thanks SpatialRiq for an interesting earthcache.

It's a bit grey today, and a bit cool. Still, what a beautiful day to be here at Elephant Rocks. 3 for 3 today.
What a stunning location. The water was beautiful despite the cool wind
Thanks for the Earthcache in this lovely location

Sometimes a great deal of imagination is needed to recognise named rocks but Elephant Rocks really stands out. This is a very interesting part of the coastline. Answers to the questions have been sent to the CO. Thanks SpatialRiq for another of your earthcaches.
Back in Albany with the muggle wife and in-laws for a week. Mum in law takes an interest in caching. Headed out to Denmark for the day and out to elephant rocks and other spots out this way.
They could not venture out here so i went on my own and off with the shoes and out onto the beach. the tide was not high but high enough as in up around my knees when the waves came in when i was heading back to the stairs. The waves would go right to the tip of the beach.
I had very limited time to get some photos and then headed back.
What an amazing spot and was pleased to see baby elephant and then the herd up top while putting my shoes and socks back on.
Thanks for the earthcache SpatialRiq and for highlighting some great geology for me.

Somewhere between day 170 and day 180 since we left home and stated our ‘lap year’. Half way in our original time estimation we are not even close to half way around the country, Tassy and SA are done (still plenty to go back and see) …hmm I guess we won’t be ‘home’ for Christmas….oh well… (shhh don’t tell the grandparents)… or maybe we could freight the children home for Christmas? ! Geogranni would like that!
Perhaps if I/we stopped looking at so many amazingly stunning rocks, trees and beaches we wouldn’t be taking so long…then there are the flowers, old things and street art that keeps catching our attention.. maybe it’s the Geocaches… what ever it is, we are having a bloody brilliant time and I wouldn’t change a thing!
Thanks for being one of the awesome caches we found around Denmark this week, a big shout out to the Geocachers of Denmark, some outstanding caches that has us considering some more power trails (generally avoid them) just to get enough Fav points together to award for all these fabulous caches!

We were blown away by the number of public works that have been done to the area since our last visit. It looks very different, and this time it was freezing cold and blowing a gale. Thanks, SpatialRiq for this earth cache, the answers have been emailed to you.
Drove out after the cito. Weather turned very nasty so we had to rush things. Never noticed those basalt rocks before. Tftc
Was in Albany for the WAGB event and also travelled to denmark today for 2 more events. Whilst here i detoured off to grab this earth cache. Great place to visit TFTC SpatialRiq

Spectator 1 (far left) asked to visit Elephant Rocks while in Denmark so off to find the Earthcache placed here. A lovely walk with a brisk wind. Hard to wait for the tide to go out before we could get to the beach here but it was fun trying to time it correctly. Thanks for placing this for us to find!
After attending the CITO event at Ocean Beach a few of us headed here to this marvellous place to check it out. Unfortunately the weather closed in on us so we got what info we needed and scurried our way back to the comfort of the car. Tftc SpatialRiq
We seemed to follow you down south a few days ago. We dnfed Mt Barker right after your visit so need to stop on the way home. I’m sure you’ve experienced as trying weather as us. Windy rainy beaches galore. The crowds were down at Elephant Rocks. Basalt galore, seemingly in every direction. Standard elephant photo attached. We didn’t take selfies today but probably have one from a previous visit. Thanks for the earthcache. Will google some answers soon.
Found this with a few mates and they looked at me a little weird because they haven't seen this type of cache before. Tftc
Found with a couple of mates: Newnursy and SgtAnt

What a cool collection of rocks! Thought we would stop by on our way to Albany. TFTC!
Thanks for placing a cache at this lovely spot. We found while holidaying in Denmark. Managed to find while the skies were blue which was a rarity today.
Latest news is that it's still on track for a November opening, not sure exactly when next month, but not long now
Road works and other maintenance has been delayed due to rain. Opening now scheduled for November.
Road still closed while uogrades continue. Hopefully reopens in early September.
Road into the area still close due to upgrade. Shire still expect works to be completed this month (July), so hopefully can enable this EC very soon.
Unfortunately the park is closed to visitors from 03/02/2020 until 30/06/2020* so we could not visit this nice place.
Area had been closed as a new road and amenities is built. Should be open again in July 2020. Will disable as access is not possible until then.
Found! This cache was found and logged on 18 January 2020 16:37. Thank you to SpatialRiq for the creation and maintaining of this cache. The rest of this log will follow later, from home.
Later: great bay, really worth visiting.

I enjoyed this cache and have emailed the answers. It’s a pity the area will be closed from Feb 2020 - June for refurbishment
We are on our 5week holiday travelling the coast to enjoy the sunshine and water. Along our travels we made a few stops to explore the area and grab a few caches .
Spending today in Denmark and it looks like we left the best till last. After enjoying blueberry picking, lunch at the brewery, a Roymerc byob cache and tour of the coast we finally arrived at Elephant Rocks. What a wonderful location! The kids imaginations were running wild when walking along the track down the staircase and through the rocks to open up to a gorgeous beach area. We enjoyed having a quick dip before promising the kids a return visit in the next couple of days so we can enjoy the beach more. The half muggle geocache husband enjoyed completing this earth cache so just for that alone you deserve a FP but the enjoyment factor of this location you are definitely getting one.

I've been to elephant rocks many times but never noted this basalt layer before. Poked our heads around for a look after snorkelling at Greens Pool. It may have been under 20C out, but still worth getting in the water.
Megawat60 and I are now camping at Parry Beach, one of our fave spots on the coast. So today we drove into Denmark, then around the area looking for green dots which have sprung up in the last 2 1/2 years. Very happy to return to Elephant Rocks, such an amazing place. Answers have been sent in, thanks for creating this Earthcache and the information about the cove. A FP (if a certain local cache creator has left me one!)
Out ‘n about with m4yb grabbing a few caches.
Down in Denmark shedding loads of FP’s on a certain battery obsessed cache creator and wandered over to this one for a study. I don’t recall these outcrops on my last visit, or is it just that I was studying them via this EC?
If I have any FP’s left you deserve one for alerting me again to how stunning this section of Coast is, even if it’s bloody freezing and only 1 day till official summer.
Answers submitted via m4yb.

We stopped by here after racing around and getting as many Roymerc caches as we could on our brief visit of Denmark. I also wanted to come here, I had read it was beautiful and it truly is. Lots of photographers out on the hunt for that elusive amazing sunset shot which they probably got today as there was definitely back burning happening somewhere judging by how orange the sun appeared this afternoon!

It was the second time for us in Australia. We stayed in this fascinating country from 11/08/-30/08/2019.
We started our travels in Perth and went in the following 20 days south to Bunbury, Busselton, Margaret River, Pemberton, Denmark, Albany, Hopetoun and Esperance. We continued north to Kalgoorlie, further to the West to Hyden, Northam, Muchea and Cervantes. From Cervantes we drove back to Perth with a final stop at Rottnest Island.
Besides the sightseeing spots we visited and looked for different cache types as
Traditionals, Multis, WherIGos, Letterboxes, Mysteries, Earthcaches and Virtuals. It’s all in the mix.
We could lern a lot about the hide and seek in Western Australia. Maybe we can use the gained knowledge in Germany to hide some caches the way you do in Australia.
We enjoyed these amazing 3 weeks in Down Under as we could do in 2010 and we hope to come to Australia again as soon as possible.
Sorry, the logs are not unique for each cache but we had fun looking for every single one.
To climb to the top it was too windy and rainy for me.

Loved this walk to locate this Earth cache, even though it was a wet and blustery day. TFTC
I visited this Earthcache on an early morning trip to William Bay.
The tide was high and the ocean rough, the elephants were taking a cold deep bath! I had to time my run through the gap to the beach so I wouldn't get wet! Then I clambered over the rocks to collect the Earthcache information, and lots of great photos. I saw a few other people at Greens Pool, but I had the whole of the Elephant Rocks area to myself! Beautiful!
Thanks for the Earthcache.

Logging with the COs permission. Our answers may have been a little inaccurate but we put that down to hypothermia associated with the coldest April day in 15 years and Mr O’s inappropriate choice of clothing. . Superb location in any weather condition. TFTC Sir Spatialriq.
Didn't realise there was a geocache here when we visited. We did spot the basalt (because it looks like elephant hide) so that helped us with the answers to the questions. Sent them off to the CO and all's good.

Visiting the south coast for a few days and made a slight detour to man this cache. Fascinating location that never disappoints. Tftc
Always a picture perfect place to visit, and even though today was overcast and a bit drizzly, it didn't disappoint. Being EC souvenir weekend, it was a good incentive to take the day and visit this spot and others around beautiful Denmark. Thanks SpatialRiq for placing this EC and bringing us back here.
Enjoying a day out to Denmark with gma and gdad allinaday. Had a lot of fun climbing up the rocks and enjoying the view from the top. Helped gather the information for the EC so I could earn my souvenir.

In the area for a bit of caching goodness we couldn’t help but stop and do this earthcache! We made our way to GZ along the normal path down the stairs but unfortunately it was high tide and we couldn’t get across to the elephant rocks (unless we got our feet wet) so back up the path we went and took the lesser used path that led to the beach! A short hop along the rocks and we made it to Gz. A nice geology lesson at ground zero we set about the task of answering the questions! A lovely spot to be at today thankfully the rain stayed at bay for us! Thanks for bringing us back to this lovely location and for the effort creating this cache!
Loved this spot. Beautiful weather showing off the rocks and Green Pool tp perfection but the elephant rocks were just amazing. Thanks for the geology lesson, would have loved to stay here all day.
Drove down today and walked down to the little beach but the tide was coming in and we had limited time to scramble over here and get a closer look before rushing back to make it through the gap and back up the steps. An interesting formation amongst all the big rocks
