We had to catch up a lot of sleep from the flight yesterday, so we got up a bit later than planned. Today's plan is some caches in the Barossa valley and then off to Adelaide, where we will spend the next 2 days. Came to this view point to enjoy the views over the Barossa Valley, where we spent last night. Enjoyed the sculpture park and collecting the answers for this EC. Thanks and kind regards from Switzerland, Hinni&Simo

We all enjoyed our visit to the sculpture park today. We wandered around for quite a while looking at the sculptures and discussing the answers. Thanks so much for bringing me here - would've stopped anyway but this earthcache really made me take a much closer look at the sculptures. I also was particularly taken with the stunning Pioneer Memorial in the carpark. Yesterday we mostly signed off the caches in the grape geoart series and today we are exploring more of the area cache by cache. Found as part of the SPBINZ team (Sidewaze, Paddle Chick, Bullertrout, IsisNZ, and Nanzie). Answers sent on behalf of us all. TFTEC ParisLaura and kia ora from Aotearoa/New Zealand # 21,974**tepoti/Dunedin is the place to be 26-27 October, 2024 for GCA7ZHD - Geo Toroa Mega! Please come and join in the fun, find heaps of caches and experience some wonderful Southern hospitality.**

Caching as team SPBINZ: Sidewaze, Paddlechick, Bullertrout, IsisNZ and Nanzie, from Nelson, New Zealand. After caching on the Yorke Peninsula, staying at Wallaroo and then at Port Vincent, we spent a couple of nights in the city, attending the Mega and looking to get the maximum number of cache types we could, a couple of hidden months for members of the team and lots of caches that crossed our paths. Now we're enjoying touring the Barossa Valley, getting lots of geocaches, visiting several wineries and enjoying the countryside.I've just realised this is my fourth visit to the Barossa, and so this is my fourth visit to Mengler's Hill. And actually, all the sculptures must have been here the last time I visited. Thanks for making sure I'll remember them **next** time I visit - - - I'll even remember what they're made of Red Face. We spent some time taking in the panoramic view and lots of time admiring the sculptures, interpreting how the name fitted in with what we saw and identifying what the sculptures are made of.Thanks for the awesome earthcache and greetings from across the ditch Big Grin.Oh yes, and fancy not knowing not to wear thin soled shoes in Oz Red Face, I had my second embarrassing encounter with bindii Sad.*Team answers submitted by IsisNZ.

A great stroll around these interesting sculptures at this beautiful lookout.
Our absolute favourite was one that looked like a stunning eagle’s head but was actually called ‘Dreaming’ we think

Many thanks for this earthcache ParisLaura…a favourite point for bringing us back here after several years.

We were on a wine tour at the start of the week when our driver told us to drive up the hill to check out the sculptures and the view. At the time we thought, yeah whatever, just get us to the next winery. On our last full day in the valley we took up her advice.

We should have visited earlier because it is a cracking spot. The sculptures are amazing and we feel for the artist that lost the bet and had to have their sculpture put at the bottom of the hill. Answers emailed and we are awarding a favourite point for the location and information. tftc

Found as we wandered around. Thanks for placing a cache here as we love hides like this, taking us to interesting places we would have otherwise never found if it wasn’t for Geocaching. A fav point from us. On the hunting trail again with SeasonedBird, Liz & Bruce. Blue sky day, so it’s a great day for caching. TFTC ParisLaura

I came here 10 or so years ago and had a look around back today and another look around, some interesting sculptures here

Today with a few new caches published and a new cache published in the Barossa thought I would go for the FTF and also clean up the remains that I had left in the area. A nice day out with 35 finds

Thanks for the cache

After attending the birthday event in Nuriootpa with erine14, alysse14 and allister w we continued caching and found our way to the sculpture park where we had a lovely wander around looking at all the sculptures and admiring the great views from up here. [^]
We really suck at geology and had long and involved discussions about what we thought some of the sculptures looked like (nothing to do with geology though...more like physiology! Wink)
Took a few photos then went to find the trad close by before heading off. Cool
Answers sent to CO.
Thanks for the cache ParisLaura and for bringing us here. Smile

alysse14, erine14, JJ52 and I came for a drive to the area to attend the 10th Birthday event in Nuriootpa. We found some caches on the way to the event and some on our way home. A great days caching. We walked around and discussed the crystal formations and what we thought some of the sculptures looked like to us. Thanks to JJ52 for sending our answers in. TFTC ParisLaura

An interesting area for a walk around that I didn’t know existed! Thanks for bringing us here today. The views were pretty awesome too. JJ52 is sending thru the answers for our group. Thanks for the adventure around the sculpture garden!

Thanks for the earthcache! Visited with JJ52 (who sent the answers for our group, allisterw and erine14)

Had a nice day out with JJ52, allisterw, and erine14. We set out in the morning form down south, found some caches in the morning, attended the excellent 10th Geostuff birthday event in Nuriootpa, and then found some more caches! 34 finds in total, including my 2200th!

24-Dec-20
During a visit to Nurioopta today with some visitors I thought I might get the chance to find a few caches. However my (non-caching) companions had other priorities. But they did decide to visit this particular area, which provided an opportunity for me to do this earthcache and gather the information I needed.

There are, what I thought at least, some really nice sculptures here. A great park!

Thanks ParisLaura for an interesting earthcache.

10-Oct-20
The great Southeast Saunter down to the Millicent area was over. Twisted Back to my 2020 caching goals. Only one of the three set at the start of the year was now possible and should be complete by Christmas. [^] So pressure off and back to caching when and where the whimsy takes me whilst I ponder some targets for next year. Cool

Came to the Barossa to do some maintenance on one of our caches. Whilst here I thought I would show Sal the sculpture park. I had visited quite a while ago and done the cache here. [^]
On arrival I was amazed to see that the cache there was showing as unfound and there was an earthcache here as well SurprisedSurprised Seems I was last here over six years ago,

Really enjoyed our walk around the park and being such a nice day it was muggle central with plenty of others doing the same thing. [^] It took us some time to grasp what was required but we think we managed to work it out and put together some answers for the CO which have been sent. [^]
Logging in anticipation that we were somewhere near what was required. Smile

***Thanks ParisLaura for putting out this cache and maintaining it for our enjoyment. *** Big Grin

One more day in the beautiful Barossa Valley. It's full of history, and the landscape is amazing! Not to forget - these lovely wines Smile

19-Oct-19
An adventurous morning joining a group of Geocachers to visit Para Wirra Recreation Park and complete a Zytheran cache abseil, which involved a small bush bash, but a lot of fun climbing down a cliff. That took a few hours, and then jesswrigley and I collected a few geocaches in nearby Williamstown, followed by a drive to Tanunda to have lunch at the Barossa Valley Chocolate Company. We enjoyed a unique chocolate and wine pairing tasting at this newly opened attraction pushing an age of six months. Finally, a short drive and visit to the Barossa Valley Sculpture Park was an interesting experience, before heading home in the late afternoon.

What a great sculpture park, and never would have known about this area had it not been for geocaching! I know that line is somewhat overused, but it turned out to be a great little detour here before heading home! We were a little perplexed at some of this EarthCache's questions, mainly because the sculptures were not well labelled. In the absence of individual artwork signs, there should be an overall map here or something. We did figure out the specific large plaques showing a quick cartoon of each piece, but that wasn't the most intuitive. Some discussions entailed between jesswrigley and I, and answers sent to the CO. Thanks ParisLaura!

We visited the Sculpture Park on a cloudy morning so the views weren’t at their best.
However, we really enjoyed our visit and the follow-up research Smile
We eventually submitted our answers by email and were pleased to receive very prompt approval to log the find.

We were keen to visit this Sculpture Park and having an Earth Cache here was a bonus. Thanks ParisLaura for setting this up. It made me look hard to find the required sculptures and then learn about the variety of rocks used. Logged with permission. Greetings from New Zealand.

Nomads travelling in their caravan around Australia. We have been on the road since July 2011 and discovered caching in August 2013. We travel with a bunch of travel bugs belonging to our sons and grand children. Where ever possible, we will maintain your cache as we travel.

Staying for the week in Nuriootpa with our friends SnappyTomCats, they offered to take us for a day of caching, after skuzzybear's event in Gawler.

We wandered around the interesting sculptures.

Thanks ParisLaura, answers coming your way by messenger.

Was in the area today picking up a few other caches I didn’t have found so stopped at this place I had visited many years ago, but not been back since. I am pretty sure my last visit predated the newer sculptures.

Although we have been to this sculpture park a number of times over the years and found it curious and at times wondered why, we had a visitor over from the UK whom we took to have a wander back in October. Gathering the info needed at the time it was put in our usual pile of paper to be logged.

I have only just found it so thought it is about time we logged the find.

A message has been sent to the Owner for her approval.

Thanks for the earth cache Paris and forcing us to take more notice of the sculptures.

Charlicorn and I went on a 12-day, 3808km roadtrip from the Southern Highlands of NSW to Gawler in SA and back, to attend the Inline Hockey National Championships representing NSW. This was all new territory for us so of course quite a bit of geocaching happened along the way and at the various places we visited, although hockey commitments and the physical demands of competition meant it wasn't a high numbers mission. Instead we focused on specific caches such as Earthcaches, highly-favourited ones, long-unfound ones and those which ticked off boxes in my stats. But we picked up plenty of caches we just happened to wander past as well. All up a very successful geomission and, returning with bronze medal in hand, not too bad from a hockey perspective either.

Earthcaches are always a focus for me, so we came here and found it a real treat. Great views and some artwork to tickle the imagination, along with an earth science lesson. Answers sent to CO. TFTC!

Today it was raining and visibility was not much more than about 50m. Despite that, there were still people here walking around looking at the sculptures! I wandered around and collected the answers but was unable to find the traditional cache with the people around. Answers have been sent off.

We are nomads. Having left Perth WA in February 2014 we now live in our caravan and go wherever the will or caches take us. Wink

Now visiting in Tanunda, today we set about exploring the area using Geocaching as our guide.
What a fabulous sunny day, the best we have had since we arrived on Sunday so it was indeed a pleasure to be out and about.

Mrs Sewer Rat and Doctor Owl wet caching on valentines Day.
The weather was warm.
We started with Mrs Rat Finishing the Jack BobRidge Trail.
The Trail was finished in Honour of Rat Dog ( Buster)
We then went on to various caches.
We stopped here to gather our info, and look at the sculptures.
Owl sent our answers to CO. Thanks for the Earthcache.

Owl was out for some R&R with Mrs Sewer Rat, getting her to Bobridge Nirvana. Once that was achieved it was time to find some new caches - and anything else Owl hadn't found along the way. The sculptures occasioned much erudite discussion about the nature of art and geology and the presence of muggles. Answers about geology have been sent, but the other topics are not for public airing!
