Due to unforeseen circumstances Mr Smokey Bear will no longer be a part of Team Smokey Bear and will continue his adventures as "SmokeyBearOG".

So I'm relogging all previous finds under my new account.
Unfortunately this log will not show the original logging date.

**Thanks to xsurfergirlx for this adventure, looking forward to many more.**

Since I was in the area I thought I’d come and retrieve one of the two caches at this location. Since one cache was wet and the other dry, I left the dry one. Definitely scratching my head as to how the original one turned up again as I had a pretty thorough search for it when it went missing. Obviously I didn’t look hard enough

Spending a couple of days in the Alexandra area and so finishing off the Alexandra fish was todays target. I wasn’t geocaching back when the Alex MEGA was on so I’m a late comer to this geoart.

Climbed up the hill and down again to find this cache. It was a quick find although rather odd given we found two well made caches in place here. Having DNFd the cache that was enroute to this one, we wondered if one was meant to be located at the previous GZ. Sure enough however both log books were for this cache. It appears after being replaced the original cache and log has miraculously reappeared!

Signed the original cache log.

Thanks xsurfergirlx for placing this gamepiece in the wild for us to find.

A dnf redemption for me. Saw that this had been replaced so we made our way down only to find two caches. Are we seeing double? After signing the original logbook, we made our way back to the geovehicle, speculating how this may have happened.
Thanks for bringing us here today by placing this cache, xsurfergirlx

Once we completed the AX17 Geoart today we headed north for an another adventure following the lake around towards Bonnie Doon.
We made our way up to GZ on the track to be greeted with 2 caches? It looks like the original cache was here all the time. Signed both.
Thanks xsurfergirlx for the placement.

Out caching with Crustyvarmint for a couple of days near Eildon. A quick search revealed the cache. As noted by Crustyvarmint this was a cache with a bird theme and I had been annoying him with bird spotting while we walked. Thanks to xsurfergirlx for the cache.

How apt this cache is to share with Lynjoh. John has a great interest in birds, and we enjoyed the short stroll to GZ.
Thanks xsurfergirlx, for both the cache and the story of your birds. Pets bring great pleasure to our lives.

Find number 8387 at 4:12:38 pm
Travelling home from Goughs Bay via the long way to target this little group of 3 geocaches.
Wandered over the hills and far way and eventually arrived at the predefined location for another quick find.
Time to head for home now, maybe via some Bushman's Sausages, if we're not too late...
Cache container accessed with sanitised hands.
**Thanks for placing this cache xsurfergirlx**

Heading back from Wangaratta and doing some back roads and collecting caches with TSB. This was a cache TSB had heard had recently been replaced and as it was not too far out of the way we decided to get it also. Once at gz took a little bit of hunting before we located it and soon were on our home again

Thanks xsurfergirlx for the cache.
Found at 2:56 pm on 16/6/19.

Checked on this cache today and discovered it was indeed missing. Replaced, so it is good to go again

I took the stroll to the end of the trail.
A lot of fallen timber to be seen !! [:o]
But it's been a while since the chainsaw gang were about.
So I sifted through the fallen timber,
and remaining trees,
but no trace of a cache was found Sad

Despite earlier dnf comments thought I'd give it a go - unfortunately to no avail. Recent chainsaw cuts in fallen branches suggest muggles may have been in the immediate vicinity of GZ collecting firewood. If if wasn't for the rapidly escalating arguments between the geokids who stayed in the car I may have persevered a while longer.

*19/11/17, Found @ 11:30 am, Find # 7391.*

While heading to Eildon to attend the CITO event, I went the non direct route so I was able to find a few caches along the way.
After finding Bertie, I went for a stroll down to this one, once at GZ it didn't take long to find the nicely camouflaged hide, the log was signed and I was on my way.

**Thanks to xsurfergirlx for placing this cache.**

This is our fourth trip to the northern island this year. The first three were primarily for family events but with some opportunities to do some caching along the way. The fourth trip is different as caching is our focus. After getting off The Spirit of Tasmania we are heading north to cache at Wangaratta and then Yass before heading into the ACT and Queanbeyan for a week. After that we will travel to Jindabyne for a few days with summiting Mount Kosciuszko being our main target for this part of our trip. Then we will visit Cooma and Tumut before heading back down the track through Wangaratta and Mansfield as we make our way to Alexandra for the MEGA. After the weekend we will continue to make our way south and back onto the Spirit of Tasmania for the “drive” across Bass Strait. We are really looking forward to three weeks of intense caching in great areas and, hopefully, catching up with some geocachers in each of the areas we will visit.

Today was the second day of the Alexandra Event or MEGA. Again we joined others at the Showgrounds early in the morning to catch up on what happened yesterday and what was in the offering for today. We then headed out to cache in the area again. As we had completed the Trout geoart series yesterday, our focus for today was completion of the gadget caches and any other caches that we would come across during the day. In the late afternoon we returned to the Showgrounds for the final presentations – an excellent way to end a great MEGA event.

The group of four caches up on Skyline Drive were published just prior to the MEGA event. We had the opportunity today to look for these caches. We were certainly glad that we came to this area as the views across the lake and up the valley were superb. Accurate coordinates and an obvious hide location led to a quick find. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks xsurfiegirlx for the cache and for bringing us to this wonderful vantage point.

***** We are currently writing detailed logs because of a challenge provided by Project-GC. "The Author" Badge challenges geocachers to average one hundred words or more in each log. On 1 September 2017 our average was 86 which seems close to the 100 target. However given that we have found so many GC caches, we have to write many logs with well over 100 words for a long period of time to get our average to the target. Apologies to anyone who finds the logs tedious but it is the only way that we can strive to attain this challenge. After 598 caches (which includes all cache finds up and including yesterday), the average log length is just over 99.7. We are nearly there and should make it before this current trip comes to an end in a couple of days time. Progress has been better than anticipated.*****

Found by Mary & David, in company with pprass and squalid, at 1505. A bit of a walk to GZ this time. We all missed the cache a couple of times, so it took longer than it should have to finally find it. Our thanks to xsurfergirlx.

Found at 3:03 PM GAFF5 in the company of maccamob and Squalid.
This took us a bit of time to locate. We drove to within 100 metres of GZ and went straight to the cache location and missed it. We subsequently spent 10 minutes looking all over the place until David spotted something different from 20 metres away - and yep back to the original spot Sad
Thanks xsurfergirlx.
