Beautiful autumn day here and a nice easy find thank you. We've just come from the old Matakohe wharf where we spotted some spoonbills.
Staying in the camp close by. Dogs needed a walk, so what better than going to find a cache. Found with StonyCroft. TFTC!!!

# 1994 Another wet weekend away with the fam. Stayed the weekend at Pahi. I know I'm getting out of the game when I start issuing directions to the kids and dont even bother getting out of the car. Well found by dangerSAM.
We stopped nearby for a refreshment break as we headed south towards Auckland and Mr Bb took a brisk walk to GZ where the cache was found after a brief search, only to realise that he’d left the pen with Mrs Bb at the cafe - D’oh!
Took a photograph of the log that we should have signed to verify our visit.

Enjoyed visiting this area along all the history..thanks supernanny for the cache I have enjoyed this unique area
It's been years since we have come this way and didn't venture to Matakohe. It's been a trip of memories as well as many of my school friends were from the Kaipara area, even some from Poutu. We are taking time to "smell the roses" this time. We even spent a lot of time at the Kauri Museum - a must do. Thanks for bringing us here Supernanny
Thanks for this cache, supernanny and I apologise for the delay in logging.
1st major road trip in my Motorhome & I was pleased to escape SH1 to drive along this way !
I really enjoyed the Kauri Museum & seeing the Pou close to the main road; good to find these caches of yours, too.

This was a quick find while passing by today. All is well with the cache, thanks.
Stopped directly by the cache and found after a short search - which took longer than it really should have. All is in good condition today. TFTC.
Well Covid has put a bit of a spanner in the works. With very few caches left to find in Northland, the intention had been to do a trip to Auckland in September to get the numbers necessary for this month's souvenir. However, with little chance of Akl being at Level 2 any time soon, a trip was planned to south west Northland to clear the few remaining caches in that area.
A real bonus of this 300 km trip today, was that I actually visited several places that I have never been to before, despite living in Northland for over 60 years. That's one of the great things about geocaching - it takes you to new and interesting places.
Another nice quick find here thx. TFTC

Another generous diversion by tuolei so I could pick this one up. The rest of the team had found this one so I jumped out to find it whilst they turned the geowagon around and it was all found signed and replaced before they got back. TFTC
So far so good...3 from 3 in Matakohe. Off to the last one down at the wharf
1085. 3:29 pm. Day trip with a little geocaching. 9th find of the day. Found with eKitten, GRAkiWi &Co. TFTC(that I nearly missed).
We are on our summer holiday, we usually take a few weeks and travel around the South Island, but this year we are heading around the North Island. Heading up the West coast and back down the East coast. Finding only a select few caches along the way, we are mostly targeting some challenges we have qualified for, some large size caches, some that fill gaps in our date placed grid, a few D/T combinations, some with lots of favourite points, letterboxes and anything else that grabs our fancy.
I had a fall on day two of our holiday, while out geocaching which has resulted in a fractured bone in my leg and I am in a moon boot and with crutches and I was told to keep weight off my leg. So I am only limited use when it comes to our trip now. I tend to stay in the campervan and just hand out suggestions of when and where GK should search.
A nice quick find here, gk went and found it and signed the log then he returned it as he found it. We are filling in some time this evening while we wait for the museum to open in the morning.
Thanks for placing this cache and thank you for the smiley.

First cache for the day after staying the night at the nearby holiday park, what a lovely spot TFTC.
Found 8.35am
Stayed at Paparoa Motor Camp last night. Good room and facilities, and only $30 for the night.
Fish & Chips from the local takeaway, thought about going to the pub but the place was packed with rugby followers.
A few caches to collect today before heading back home. SLTFTC

I quickly spotted this one as I walked up, but then it took a few minutes to get to the log paper since it was rusty and hard to open. TFTC.

After not beeing able to work today due to the rain we decided to go on a little drive to visit the Kauri Museum and to find a few caches in the surrounding area.
After finding the two caches father up the road this one was a quick find after turning the car around. One more to go and then back home for a quiet rest of the day.

There is a lot of history in this area and having stayed a few years ago at Matakohe House I was able to explore the history and area.
I'm from Switzerland and spend 4 months in New Zealand on vacation. Found this cache after a few minutes search, thanks.
A lovely day on our journey to do some caches ..Was nice up here in nature. Thanks from Swiss guy !
Quick find though I had to pretend to be taking some photos as two camper vans exited the camping ground just at the wrong moment.

After a long drive we arrived at Holiday Camp Matahoke. Chilling a bit and after dinner we walked to this cache. Thanks to the hint we found it quickly.
Thanks for hiding and greetings from Holland.

We were staying at the campsite up the road, so after dinner we wandered up to grab this. Took a few seconds to locate the cache, all good here, thanks
Stopped here for a quick snag and tag after spending a couple of hours at the nearby museum. Cheers
Monday - New Years Eve - day seventeen - Whangarei - Dargarville - Whangarei today in Toby. Zara gets another rest. So lets go exploring!!
Its another epic 3+ week geocaching adventure with The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby and William to the Far North. What an amazing place to explore. Lots of walks, gravel roads and sand. Lots of amazing trees, beaches and interesting POIs. Lots of kilometers traveled by vehicle and foot. Vehicle breakdowns, making new friends and catching up with old friends and family. Snagged a couple of FTF's, lots of lonely caches and the odd event along the way. Lots of cache maintenance and replaced caches on this trip. But what an incredible adventure!!. Thanks to all the CO's who have made this trip so memorable..

Stopped by here after spending an awesome morning in the kauri museum.
Day sixteen of an awesome, tiring, long, three week holiday geocaching with Taybeedragon in the upper north. Taybeedragon and I scooted over from Whangarei this morning, especially to visit the kauri museaum, then back to dargavile for a sundown event and back back to Whangarei for bed and a sunrise event. The whole trip comprised of hours of walking on sand, sliding down sand dunes, hundreds of kilometres of unsealed roads, car breakdowns, paddling out to islands, lighthouses, dolphins, goats, events, FTFs, weird boulders. You name it, we saw it. Lots of bisons, lots of cache maintenance, lots of sunscreen. A month is enough. I am glad to be back home. Except that now I have to write up my trip. We averaged just 20 caches per day, but that is still a lot of logging!
Happy new Planetary Orbit from the Seagnoid!

Northland Day 1: We drove up from Auckland to Hokianga today, passing through the Hibiscus Coast before heading across to Kaipara District and then into the Hokianga Harbour. Stopped by various beautiful regions along the way to take in the views, and of course, there was always room a few cache finds... well, not a few Thanks to all the COs along the way for showing us the lovelier parts of the Northland!
The following is the specific log for each cache:
Glad I was able to grab one more cache before leaving the town. This one was fairly quick and easy, but as usual, it was a little game of guessing which post it is at. TFTC!

Thank you. David and Sarah.

Lostcourse directed us to this one, FMZ is driving us around, and I'm a happy passenger glad to be out caching for the whole day! What an adventure so far! Still dark, early morning, mu headtorch is quite poor at the moment, so I searched for the cache and didn't find it, so FMZ jumps out with his very bright torch and spotted what I missed straight-away! Thanks for bringing me here again.
Love the museum here Helen, nothing to see today however, since it's dark, but how's this for a memory! I came here 27-10-2003, took a foto of a tall Kauri right next to the museum (planted 1965), I see on Google Earth now, that it no longer exists, has been cut down and replanted. My fotos are 2013, the google one is 2012...

Left Auckland in the early hours of the morning with Lostcourse, Gorby and 404, and heading through this area on our way to Dargaville. We decided since we might not go back this way figured we should clean out the area. Made short work of logging this cache before moving on. TFTC!!!
We drove north early this afternoon after our work was over for the day. We have been to the Matakohe museum before, but don't recall driving further down this road. Lovely rural views from GZ, and a straight forward cache find, thanks.
Quick park and grab. ....just had to wait for the kids from the holiday park to go back to their caravan.
Another easy find in this lovely area. My Grandparents are all from England so we don't have a lot of history in NZ. I'm pleased to be living on the farm that my Grandparents then my parents owned. My brother now owns it so I'm glad it's still in the family. Thanks for the cache

On an Odyssey road trip in Northland, with My.Precious. It was originally planned as a motorbike trip in Feb, but due to me having complications with my accident recovery, our summer holiday has become our winter holiday.
Due to time limitations only afew special easy caches will be signed and logged as TT2M.P
Stayed the night at campground and went hunting on the way out. M.P wasn't keen on finding barbwire in the long grass.
Nice find. TFTC.
