I meet up with Muggle65 and GreenGecko1 for afternoon paddle. The mission was to find a D5/T5. So off to South Stradbroke. It was bit windy today. Walking through Couran Cove Island Resort was like walking through a ghost town. Everything was run down. Is was still a nice walk across the island. It took us awhile to find the cache. One of the photos help us find it. Log signed and then replace back.E:( thank you for placing and Tenkae for maintaining this cache for enjoyment of the caching community.
Hanging around Stradbroke with my friends Simon and Amanda and came across the island for a swim and to grab a cache or two. Found this one after a bit of searching. Cache container and log are both still in very good condition despite period of time between visitors. Beautiful day to be on the beach.TFTC
What better way to celebrate your birthday than with a surprise trip out on the waters around South Stradbroke Island finding caches?!?
It was a stunning day to be on the water and the company was brilliant. Joining us, forming a motley crew, was EeePees, Peppa and Snickersallan. We set off early from Jacobs Well, weaving our way through the islands, flying over the wakes of the giant “look at me” boats, avoiding the shallow sandbars along the way.
As this cache was a ‘must get’ for the day, we made Couran cove our first stop. Walking through the resort felt like walking through a ghost town, very eerie. We made our way along the road all the way to the other side and were greeted with great views of the surf beach.
At GZ we found the container referred to in previous logs but it was empty. We added a preform and placed it back up in a tree as it was originally intended. Hopefully it lasts longer than the resort!

There was a plan… a grand plan… a secret plan…
It involved months of messaging, hiring a boat, importing a driver from Tasmania, making a list, solving some puzzles, an event with an ulterior motive & an early start…
Leaving the BeaverFinder at Jacobs Well, we boarded the Blue Woggle for a day of high seas adventure from Coomera Island North to Crusoe Island and many points in between…
The crew consisted of Snickersallan, Davinells, EeePees and myself… electing not to abbreviate our names the logs were signed in full…
A perfect day aboard the SS Beaverlicous, sponsored by the South Stradbroke Auto Group - we specialise in used Volvos…
This was a must get for the day… one of the team can’t stop “banging on about it”… Snickers already has it, EePees is from Tasmania & I’ve never heard about it… so….
Walking through Couran Cove was a little surreal… like something from Jurassic Park… even with the recent press it was unexpected….
We arrived at GZ, where are confirming with a previous finder that we’d found the item referenced recently, but it was empty…
We added a small preform, a new log and returned it to a tree climb… not a big climb… and considering the moving nature of environment the next finders might not have to climb at all…
Thanks Tenkae happy to show this cache a little love today…
Apparently this very special cache plugs a challenge hole that I didn’t even know I had…

We were out cruising in our hire boat for the day, grabbing a few caches and lunch at Tipplers. We had this cache in our sights but couldn't work out any way of getting there apart from walking from where we were.. our lunch stop. It was an easy walk with tracks all the way. Arriving at the dunes was a wind strong enough to blow us back to where we came from. We figured this cache would have to be resilient to survive the conditions here.
We took a long time searching. Found the fallen tree at the co-ords that didn't help with optimism and kept looking, even around the base of the dunes in case it had rolled down. All the time the wind was blasting. It was going to be a hard pill to swallow if this was a DNF. Back to the co-ords for another search and saw something black. We realised it was an unlikely cache container but curled up inside was a log. We didn't care how unlikely it was, our name was in that log in no time flat. [^] Despite it being an unusual container it's probably the only thing that will stand the test of this exposed site. The log didn't have a bag and was dry but as we had a spare one, we put the log inside.
A wild and beautiful location with not another person in sight.. pity about the abandoned cafe and the ugly dump though. A most enjoyable cache, thanks Tenkae. FP!

It’s a perfect day to be out on the water in Karicka’s tinnie. We landed at the resort and walked along the road to the beach. After a search around, I spotted the container but it had no log so we replaced it. Thanks for the cache
Having a perfect day on the water.
While S relaxed at Couran Cove I am Beardman75 walked across the island.
A bit sad to see the cafe here in disrepair.
Took us some time to locate this one.
Thank you for hiding this geocache E(:

This is one of those geocache I thought I’d never be able to find. Stuck over there on South Stradbroke Island. But today I find myself over here on school camp and I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to sign the log of this coveted cache. I think there is only 1 other 5/5 on the Gold Coast so it’s quite pleasing to finally register a find here. I see my friend Tenkae has assumed ownership which makes it doubly satisfying. I did find it on the ground which I’m sure is not it’s natural habitat but I replaced as found. The dunes are encroaching but shouldn’t bury the container. Very satisfying find.
ThNks for placing Elena and thanks for maintaining it for our enjoyment Alex.

Thanks for the cache Tenkae! Sorry for the late log but loved the memories that goes with creating and finding this cache!
A Favourite Point of course!

Wandered around a bit but Mrs Burnout55 found it staring her in the face when she turned around. Placed back in same spot as before but very sceptical about it lasting long. It has lost Its camo and can be seen fairly easily.

Trekking along the beach after walking over from Tipplers where our catamaran is anchored, on a Moreton Bay sailing expedition for a couple of weeks. We noticed the surf club on the satellite map and were intrigued as to why there would a club out here in such a deserted location. Once we found it, I see patronage may not have been enough to keep it going as it looks quite abandoned with sand-dunes overtaking the boardwalk and paths and nearly encroaching on the building.
Back to the cache though.... we found a good spot as a lookout for the beach and there was the cache on the ground near the edge. Signed the new SA venture logbook and replaced on a tree branch so that there was less chance of it blowing away as it was very windy at the time.
Great to find a cache in such an out of the way location.
Then we found the road behind the surf club leading to Couran Cove resort and walked along that way before heading along the conservation park track through the bush to Tipplers. Great walk all in all.

29/12/20 13:51 a long way down from Townsville to Qalify for a cache back there but here i am. Searched around a bit at the GZ and let out an audible sigh of relief when i managed to make the find in the end. I can shout out Bingo now to earn another 5/5 on GC7JR20. Thanks for the cache E_Smiley. Now off to enjoy more of what South Straddie has to offer
Staying at Couran Cove Resort and decided to find a few caches. Rode bicycles across the island to this cache. What a climb up the dunes! New log book in cache and then realised that we had lost our pen while riding the bikes. Fell out of my pocket - learnt that lesson! Have sent photo of find to cache owner. Replaced as found. TFTC
Staying at Couran for the weekend we decided to walk over to the surf beach before it got too hot. Made it there, enjoyed the views and tackled the climb to the cache. Those little pine cones are hell on the feet. Mr AM found the cache nice and safe (Thanks CASPARR for placing it).
Sadly my pen decided not to work and I didn't have a back up.
Please accept my photos as my log.
Thanks for the adventure

The tree it was in has fallen over so we put it back in another tree, above eye height, close to GZ and safe and sound
We’re having a caching day on South Straddie and this cache was on our list.
Lots (thousands) of bluebottles on the beach this morning.
Very good coords here as we quickly spotted the cache.
All nice and dry despite this morning’s showers.
Thanks for this cache E_Smiley.

Lovely day out on jetski 3 up. Later that day went tops turvy when ski went turtle. Water was cold. Found cache after a look around then a climb
Showing some friends the beautiful South Stradbroke Island today and wandered across the island to check out the ocean beach. A quick check of my app and realised there was a cache nearby. After explaining to my muggle mates what geocaching is, we set to work locating the cache. After the GPS stopped sending us on a wild goose chase, it finally settled in one location and we spent 15 minutes climbing flimsy trees and searching from the ground. Almost ready to give up, we did a final sweep and lo and behold... there is was. Its fallen from its perch and was half buried in the sand, but log is in good condition so I signed it and climbed the sturdiest tree in the area to hang it up. I'll send a photo to CO, and would be happy to go back and secure it a bit better once the correct location is confirmed. TFTC, This was a beautiful location for a search
Caught the ‘train’ to the surf beach, had a paddle in the Pacific, took some photos, retired to some shade then wandered to GZ. Not a wise move to go bare footed though. Ouch
Thanks!!

Dora the Explorer! and I have been paddling southward down the island and grabbing caches on the way.
This was particularly targetted by us due to its attractive D/T rating which is always a challenge for us.
After looking at many possibilites in this area, I spotted the cache and Dora the Explorer quickly raced up the tree to sign the log.
It was nice to have a break from paddling whilst trying to find the caches in this area.

Quick and easy climb. Easier to climb than to find.
.
We completed the fish series and traditionals around South Moreton Bay Island all by Kayak and walking. We stopped to camp overnight. Was a very enjoyable adventure using sit on top kayaks and hammock tents.
On day 1 we completed in this order, one of the caches may be out of order. We used two cars. One was parked at Jacobs Well and the other at Paradise Point tomsave back tracking. We had a very early start leaving Jacobs Well with the high tide.
Fish and Cache series, 16, 23, 19, 20, 22, Crusoe House Boat, 21, 18, 17, Jumpinpin Passage, Fish Cache Series 24, 3, 2, 1, 5, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 2 Goats in a Boat Fish Series 12.
Day 2
Camped overnight near Fish Series 11.
Fish and Cache Series 11, 57 km from Mexican, Fish and Cache Series 13, 14, 15, Dux's Hut, The Sand Dunes, Tipplers, (we had a break here and bought breakfast from the shops here). As the Sun Sets, Wallaby Lawn, Step Back in Time, The Bora Ring, Easy for Some, Minbalup, and Canoe Tree. We then paddled from here back to Paradise Point.
The adventure was fairly straigt forward, saw lots of sting rays, so make sure you have foot wear on when pushing kayaks across the mud flats which we had to do on afew occasions. I even had a fish decide to join me in the kayak. I quickly put him straigt back into he water. We were both quite exhausted on the final leg back to Paradise Point as we were going against the tide.
All in all was a fun adventure and I would recommend doing it by kayak over two days.

Friday. This one was definitely a must to do collect since I was in the area. Coming from the ‘wrong’ side (my phone GPS arrow was all over the place here and sent me in circles which was part and parcel for the day today). Eventually made a PAF to my stalwart helper for the day today who told me to come in around and start in from the complete other direction. Ah! Spotted quickly then and dumping my stuff on the ground, raced up the tree in a trice. Took care to sign the log carefully as the wind was actually moving the tree a bit and so just relied on feet and legs to hold me whilst I used both hands. Glad a read a previous log which said that the tree was quite sturdy given it’s spindly appearance. I can affirm this tree is definitely made of the strong stuff!
This was the 4th of 10 caches found on today's trip.
Thanks ***E(:***, for showing us this place.

This cache should have been easy for some and ticked off on new years day but a 24 hour bottle bug from the previous evening deterred me from walking down from Dux. Thought it's only a matter of time before I stow away with my boating friends for another few days cruising the Pin.
When an invitation was offered to check out Sth Straddie mid week, I jumped at the chance. No stowing away this time. My target caches for the day were a few of the Couran Cove geo tour hides and this 5 x D/T cache.
Walking from Couran Cove, it was a short stroll through the dunes to the appropriate spot. Spied the cache amongst the elevated bird perches and thought if I do slip, it'll be on loose sand and pine needles. Unlikely to do too much damage and these trees are quite hardy, being continually sand blasted. As it was had no issue making it to the appropriate branch then signing the log whilst elevated. Thanks for placing a cache at this great spot E(:

Having made plans to come over to this lovely island and seek out the GeoTour caches, I soon had a list of other caches to find while here. This one, if found on a Thursday, would he the final step in helping me qualify for the 8 Days a Week Challenge, which I found and signed last week! So naturally this was high on my 'To Do' list today! Having spent all day caching with snickersallan and the CO we had walked many kilometres and I was feeling quite weary in my legs. But we made our way up the dunes here and enjoyed the brilliant view briefly before spotting the cache. Not being much of a tree climber but not being a complete woos I decided to give it my best shot, and am pleased to say my best shot was enough. I made my way up the tree, managed to not break any branches (miracle of miracles!) and managed to open and retrieve the log without falling or dropping anything. As the branches were now swaying in the wind, I came back down a little bit to sign the log and then went back up to replace it.
As I was closing the cache container I heard our guide and the CO calling out as they had spotted whales from where they were standing! I carefully and not very quickly made my way down the tree and soon we were all standing on this magnificent lookout, marvelling at a small pod of whales that were migrating North particularly close to shore. Not too close for it to be a real concern, but our guide said that was very unusual to see them so near. There's no need to tell us how lucky we are today! Unbelievable.
Thanks for this cache and bringing me to this brilliant location, E(:, and thanks for organising for the whales to be going past there right at that moment! Fave point from me.

We had zoomed over to Couran Cove to get some more of the geo-tour, but it wouldn’t do to leave behind a 5/5 over here. Once we reached the beach we had to stop and take in the view for a minute, it was perfect! We soon headed over where the GPS was pointing us and since neither one of us likes a tree climb, easy for some, we were hoping it wasn’t too high up.
In we headed and cranked our heads upwards, easy for some, the cache was soon spotted along we us also noticing the tree branches didn’t look very strong, damn it, that means that lighter of the duo has to head up. Up I go and finally get high enough to reach the cache with a one armed stretch and wouldn’t you know it, it’s one of those child proof containers that needs two hands, further up it is. By now I’m swaying in the wind on the branch, seriously wind this is no time for you to start picking up. The cache was reached again with two hands and I climbed back down. After signing the log it was passed to Mr 4ando to put back up, don’t judge, those branches held me so he has a fifty fifty chance they’ll hold him too. Up he goes swaying as one with the tree and returned the cache safe and sound.
Thanks for bringing us here it truly is such a beautiful spot.

Out and about doing the geotour today and we couldn't resist the D/T on this one i went up first and quickly signed the log then sent up Clues_Blues who has only just graduated onto her own geocaching account, I think it was a bit easier for me but she still got there in the end TFTC
Doing a trip around this area with dahumbug and monkey maker today. This cache has a very interesting D/T rating so I just couldn’t resist including it in our target caches for the day.
No sooner had the cache been spotted and dahumbug with straight to it in a flash, I didn’t realise how important this one was to him. Love the area and the walk from the western side of the island was peaceful.

I'm a born and bred Gold Coaster and sadly, I'm a little ashamed to say today is probably the most amount of time I've spend on South Straddie in one hit. Sure, I've been here a number of times before but it's always been a flying visit. It's only just across the Broadwater but yet it hasn't seen my foot prints nearly enough. I guess that's the problem, it's across the water. I have no doubt that if there were a bridge, I'd have been here a lot more.
This place is truely beautiful. Todays visit has definitely inspired me to get over here again with my family.
The view from GZ is amazing to say the least, if only we could have dragged the esky over and spent the rest of the arvo relaxing on the hill.
Thanx again E

Out and about with monkey maker and CoolumRoo having a go at the caches on South Straddy. We started at the top end and made our way south to Couran Cove.
We were a little unsure how we would fare at these GeoTour caches but we had a clean sweep of all the caches to be First To GeoTour getting our names in all the CouranCove caches. All the secret word/phrases were noted on our passbooks and our SouthStraddy Geocoin applications are in the mail.
We had a "Perfect Day" caching out on the water today.
If anyone wants to know anything else about our shenanigans, I can't tell because,
"What happens on tour, stays on tour".

This was my target cache for the day. I was making plans to come and find this one but CoolumRoo invited me for a Straddy Day and soon monkeymaker was invited to come party with us. At GZ the container was spotted by CoolumRoo using some lateral thinking. I didn't need a second invitation to access the container to find my 20th 5/5 which now makes me eligible for 'the hardcore challenge'. Lovely spot and appreciated the challenge very muchly thank you.

South Straddie Tipplers Trek - 2 days of paddling and caching fun with JaffaJ, Carlos the Jackal and geohubby Rob
This was our third South Straddie cache and I think we were lucky, I managed to spot it straight away (which isn't always the case, LOL). Geohubby did the honours and soon had the cache in hand. I signed the log, retrieved the dropped cache lid and soon the container was back in its hiding place. TFTC E(:

I signed the log, retrieved the dropped cache lid and soon the container was back in its hiding place. TFTC E(:
Over on the Island for a couple of nights. This had us straining our necks as we searched. We found a decoy, a plate hidden under a stine? Anyway Mrs. Herbz spotted the cache and Mr. Herbz was sent to sign the log! TFTC
Joint **FTF** with JACS Team while on our adventure trip to find the Geo Tour caches.
This was along the way to our last cache so had to stop and find this cache.
Luckily we had a few monkeys with us, so retrieving this cache was like a rat up a drainpipe...
Log signed, it was returned to its hide.
Thanks for bringing us to this beautiful location.

Easy for Some, what a perfect title for this cache. If I was on my own there would be no way I would be climbing that tree. Think about what Ellie the mammoth looks like in Ice Age 2 when she goes to sleep for the night - that will give a good visual . However today I am with fellow caches that can leap up skinny trees like you wouldn’t believe and therefore I find myself in the very fortunate position to record this as a {FTF}. Could also help the CO was with us and there was no time to attempt two climbs as we had a ferry to catch. Happy Dance all the way to the FTF bank!
NOT a first to find-- but in a way first to experience such stunning views as geocachers. Logged with permission of the CO who I had the pleasure of joining with Snickersallan on a fantastic weekend when this cache was placed. Hope you all have as much fun as we did. Happy caching and thanks E(: for placing a cache here.
This is not a first to find - logging with the permission of the CO who NeversayDi and myself were with when cache was placed. We all enjoyed the two picture perfect days we experienced during our overnight stay on this lovely island and of course the stunning views from the GZ area. Thanks E(: for placing this for the enjoyment of fellow cachers
