Stopped by this relic to stretch our legs and checked a couple of spots before uncovering what we wanted. Thanks Abbykitt.
I was enthralled looking at the relic for a little while, but then realized I was standing right at GZ. TFTC.
Tftc a quick find here before carrying on with our road trip round fabulous NZ
What a great little spot with a wonderful heritage history and even better, a cache! Cache is all good. TFTC
A geocache - the perfect way to start the days adventures! Spent the night at the campground in Lumsden, then headed into town for op shopping for my sister and caching for me. This one wasn't too far away so I headed down to see what the feature would be and of course find the cache. Didn't take long to find thanks to the helpful hint, then my sister came and picked me up on the way to our next adventure. Thanks so much for the cache!
While camp up at the railway station saw that there is some caches to do so of we go cache in good condition thanks for bringing us here TFTC
Found within our famous trip around New Zealand. Thanks for nice cache ....................................................................... TB Koumesovo geopivo DDEV7M
Heading southward on Te Araroa and today we have hitched to Lumsden for a resupply. A lovely quiet villiage with a pub with many friendly locals. There also happens to be a couple of caches here, so I thought I'd search for a couple while in the area. This one was quickly found after a short walk.. quite a tiny town it did not take long to reach. My thanks to the cache owner abbwykitt and helpers annielin and downsouthinv. good to get a smiley while in town. Thanks.-- This log is trackable ! ---- Feel free to discover ---- Please mention, in which cache you've seen this code: ---- 3TABQX --
A nice straight forward quick find thanks. Beautiful day in Lumsden today - perfect for caching. t4tc
Found it easily. Gave us the opportunity to have a good look at the railway cart. Pretty awesome. Tftc.
Staying in our motorhome at the freedom camping spot nearby. Last time geopup Finn and I went looking we abandoned the search that required climbing the rock platform to the train. Not this time. A quick easy find and log signed in freezing cold wind straight off the snowy peaks near here on Matariki holiday. TFTC.
A nice quick find. No one in sight. Thanks for placing your cache. Occaisionally signed MK+KR on some of the caches today, and apologies for the generic logs.
Ms_KR and I are heading to Invercargill for a tramping club 75th jubilee, so we left a bit early in hope that the weather would be fine, so we could get a bit of caching in. So far it has been good, fingers crossed for the rest of the time away.
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches.

Visiting our family who have just moved to the area. Quick find by my 5 yr old grandson
Thanks for your amazing cache. I really appreciate the time you took to set up and maintain your caches. Cheers, Cympull. L
The story of the recovery of the two locomotives a few hundred meters from the cache is fascinating
A good quick one to find for us here after a visit to the other old railway relics back in town. Thanks for placing this cache.
On the way from Te Anau to Dunedin we stopped here for overnight and had a look for this Cache.
Thanks for hidding say GeoGrillen

have noticed that there were 2 dnf, and stopped to check gz on way home after a day trip. The structure is now too rusty for a magnet. Have shifted GZ , so no clambering will be required.

I wasn’t that sure footed so sent my friendly chauffeur up to look with no luck after 5 minutes looking
No joy here on a revisit with Kiwicampnut - it's not where I remember it being on my first find.
Kiwicampnut and I finally managed to coordinate ourselves having been over to the island we have finished my PWGT5 caches and making good progress on hers while finding others along the way.

Nice hide in a rusty relic.
Too wet and cold last night so out this morning in the fog before riding off to Athol. Sun should come out.

Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I had just spent Christmas with family in Invercargill … we now live full-time in our caravan & travel the country visiting places we want to visit … we were parked up at the NZMCA Lumsden camp site & were spending our time exploring the area, on foot & by bike … Mrs McMike2012’s parents used to take our kids caravanning here 30-odd years ago ... picked up this Cache on our travels ... always good to here stories & see efforts being made to save our ‘Steam Train Heritage’ … pleased to add another 'smiley face' to the tally … TFTC ... TN:LN:SL ... #1,958 for us.
Staying in Lumsden Tuesday night, but it was getting dark so left this until later. Called past on our way back on Friday. Quick find thanks to the clue - would have been impossible without it! We saw the other locomotives salvaged from the river in the centre of town. Thanks for the interesting background history Abbykitt.
Heading north today, chasing a few more GeoTour caches - and hoping to beat the weather.
I am useless at finding cache he’s on machinery - and today was no exception. Another time, maybe.

I write "WRITE NOTE" because it is a time when we can't go on a long adventure, so I travel in the memories of my visits to New Zeusemad. Of this adventure in New Zealand, I only stretch Travel Bug. Writing "FOUND IT" is probably not right anymore, it wasn't today, but I was here before. And unfortunately I won't get here again.
I am sending a beautiful greeting from the Czech Republic.

Im concentrating on geotour caches this trip but do like to try and get at least one in each town I pass through. I don't think I've been to Lumsden before. TFTC

Lumsden has quite the collection of locomotives from a bygone era, doesn’t it. This was a group effort on a stroll around town after dinner. TFTC
Travelled to Kingston in our electric car and as it was charging I thought I’d nip out and find this cache. Nice easy find thanks. Great to save our history. I remember when the train lines still ran through Lumsden.
Found with victoriousone. Great to explore lumsden. TFTC boys loving the trains.
Came to Lumsden from Athol where we were staying to find the caches and get an ice cream. Didn't take long to locate this one. TFTC
Found this one after a nice meal at the pub. Took a stroll around Lumsden finding a few caches.
A great place to stop overnight in a camper van. Quick find after doing the dishes. TFTC.
Cache 233 cache 6 of my 3 day holiday, getting up to GZ was the easy bit, getting back down again when I was done well that was a bit more tricky had to flap my arms like a bird and hope I flew, quick find, cache in great condition Slimline Rock bug added to cache T4TC
We did a loop of Lumsden on our way to an event in Invercargill. This remnant of a bygone era is worth celebrating with a cache, and we admired it as we searched and found what we were after. Found with Debsnz.
This could have taken us a long time but thanks to the hint we knew which end to concentrate our search. Spoonz2 did the honours of making the find
Haven’t stopped in Lumsden for a long time and certainly haven’t been down this end. Actually a nice wee spot. Easy find
Sixth day of a two week motorhome excursion, heading via the Coast to the lower South Island, picking up a few caches along the way – seven today. En route from Wanaka to Queenstown and on to Lumsden today, where we were staying the night. Once we had parked up, I went for a wander to pick up this cache and one other. Reasonably quick find, thanks to the hint. #3349. TFTC.
Away for 3 full days and 4 night weekend again, with Rebel98 and Aiden29. We have in mind Queenstown, down to Te Anau, Manapouri, as far as we can up towards Milford and later Cromwell. We had some great adventures and some hot and weary walks and a lot of fun.
We have checked into Mossburn Railway Hotel, have come here to check things out. love the history of this carriage, amazing how it has been rescued and ended up here. Makes a cool monument in Lumsden. Took a few fotos after finding the cache.
