The day of the Adamsfield event arrived. That and other caches were found. I am calling this my Chasing the rain trip. Thanks membsec for hiding this cache. Now that my calendar and streak are completed, I can just cache for the fun of it. Your Traditional cache, Stick at finding Styx, was just what I needed to get me out of the house and exercising. Having arrived back from the mainland early we wanted to attend the event at Adamsfield. A big weekend as we left early on Saturday morning and picked up the caches along Styx Road, but a big tree across the road made us retrace our steps and then back to Maydena. We then headed north and found most caches along the way. The next day after the event we finished off the caches in the area and this was one of them.Great weather made an excellent trip around the area, top views were had from most high advantage points along the way.We enjoyed travelling through the countryside and visiting new, to us, locations. We found a variety of hides with varying degrees of difficulty. Many thanks to all CO's for your cache placement.

hi membsec, thanks for the cache.out today with KingSmev, and our chauffeur stainless-steel-rat - after parkrun at Tynwald Park - targetting Styx and Florentine areas, and now in a 3 vehicle caching convey, including also gooseandegg, whitewebbs, and Tassie Trekkers.KingSmev and I drove right past this one last year on our way to Adamsfield without realising there was a cache here. I think we were distracted by a "dry-bag" laying on the roadside, that we stopped to investigate.our plan this year was to drive right thru Styx Rd to the Florentine - but that was thwarted by a huge fallen tree making the road impassible just near the Cave Tree junction, and so necessating a lengthy return back to Karanja and TL onto the Gordon River Road.thru rallying I know the area around GZ very well, so we drove straight to it, s-s-r pulled up beside the cache, then went up the road to turn around while I made a quick find.Cheers, EPs

Thanks for the cache membsec.
With the GeoGSP's in doggy daycare today, it was time to head to a national park to find some caches - and it was a cracker of a day at Mt Field today. After a walk around the Three Falls walk I still had a couple of hours before heading home, so decided to grab a few others in the area.
This was a short diversion, and I was glad to make a quick find, as no sooner had I signed the log, than a southwest shower hit - so a quick return and back to the car.

We learnt from Achilles’ past experiences and decided not to bathe in the river Styx, but instead go geocaching! GPS was a bit off but found it pretty quickly. TFTC

We failed the first time and had to find some reception to read the description. We found it quickly when we came back though

Found this cache while on holidays traveling around Tasmania.
Today we'd attended an event at Adamsfield hosted by AlbyDangles.
On our way back we stopped and took a little detour to find this cache.
We parked up the road a bit and walked towards GZ. On approach I could see a likely spot for the cache.
After a little scramble and a bit of a poke around I soon had the container in hand.
All was good with it.

First to find new log! Cool cache! Thanks!

We have been wanting to come out this way for awhile as we wanted the do some maintenance on 2 of our caches. We were grandchildren free for most of the day and no appointments so we decided to do our maintenance run and do a few caches that have appeared since our last visit!

We were surprised by the excellent condition of the container but the log was a bit damaged so we replaced with water proof paper and placed back where it was hidden in 2017.

All good to go. Watch out for all the pot holes and the slippery bank to the cache.

We’ve been here before, for a DNF after a long search. So we came back today and had another go. And realized we’d been searching on the wrong side of the road last time. We soon sheepishly made our way to GZ for the find and log.

04-Jan-22
About 11 meters away from the gps location but easy find!!

04-Jan-22
The log was a bit wet due to the recent weather.

Nice find. It was quite funny because we stood on the top of the bridge and we couldn’t find it. That was when we realised the cache was under us.

Thought we’d do a bit of cache in our local area during lockdown

28-Sep-21
Parked in the suggested area which is very wise given the 'size' of the vehicles that pass through here and the indeed most soft edges after all the rain they've had.

Walked cautiously over to the GZ area.
*My GPS had me in a spot that post find was some 10m away but i just used the hint and my GeoSenses and had the cache in hand in about 2 minutes. I saw a likely spot and sure as eggs there it was... **Gotta - Love - That!**

*GPS lock here with all the trees is shifty and it was a Smart Phone GPS [:o)] Big Grin

On the way home to the north west after three nights at Strathgordon and two at National Park, doing our bit for the economy with a winter sojourn during various lockdown procedures.
Disappaointed about this one, as we took into consideration many previous logs, spent a lot of time looking in appropriate places, standing back for a wider view, and looking in some "clutching at straws" places as well. No Go ! Think we will put a watch on this one, but it will be a long time before we are in the area again unfortunately. Thanks to membsec for placing a cache here all the same.

Sad to say we didn’t find it. Used app and gps to narrow down area but still no luck. We noticed lots of relatively fresh cut branches and trees fallen from above covering area, maybe worth checking accessibility to cache. Maybe it just wasn’t our day! ️

An easy find peeping out from its hide. TFTC!

13-Nov-20
Fortunately our GPS knew exactly where to take use and we soon found ourselves close to GZ. As it was 5:30pm we took the chance and parked next to the hide. We did hope that there would not be any log trucks traveling at this time. Fortunately Mr Y'stassie was able to make a quick find.

Thanks for an interesting hide Membsec. We were pleased the loggers all appeared to have deserted the area this afternoon. The log roll was slightly damp. It was showing signs of having been wetter but had almost dried out. It was slightly torn but still usable.

T-Tech and I are down from Brisbane for a meandering holiday around Tasmania. We flew to Melbourne where we picked up the campervan and spent a day caching there, then took Spirit of Tasmania I to Devonport. Tick that one off the bucket list!

Today we are travelling from Ted's Beach near Strathgordon to New Norfolk. This one required two visits to get sorted. We are not allowed to drive our hired motorhome on dirt roads, so yesterday on our first attempt we found we could not access the parking WP, so parked on the end of Florentine Rd, and T-Tech took the rather steep way down from the bridge, but did not get the find. (Our maps have GZ on the western side of Styx Rd.) For today's attempt number two, we parked at the same spot on Florentine Rd again, walk along it then back along Styx Rd to the bridge, and as I neared GZ I spied the hiding spot, not quite where the map was saying. Glad to make this one a smiley. TFTC, membsec.

Down from Brisbane on hols with IolantheK.
Another one of many on our travels through Tassie [^]
Made two attempts at this one, one on the way to Strathgordon and a second on the return Surprised Not the easiest of caches to spot and with a campervan and a "only sealed road" clause we had t park at the intersection of Florentine and Gordon River Rds and walk back, and up, and down Razz
Tricky find, cache is dry and in good condition [^]

The GPSr was pointing to a less than ideal place. TaurusSix insisted I just go and look. My gut said it was elsewhere. My gut won, as I found it with ease where I thought it might be.

Had a nice day in the Mt Field / Styx area, although we were up and going earlier than we wanted due to an incident in the street at 4.30. Perfect weather for the day - 17 - 19 degrees overcast.

Quick find by Geo Kid E (I didnt even get time to get out of the car) Great place for the cache, as it helps find the way to the Styx valley

29-Sep-19
We decided to head out to Maydena, National Park and Gretna to find a few caches that had been placed since we were last out here about 18 months ago. It was a cooler day and a bit showery but we set off. Luckily the showers happened while we were driving and while out hunting caches it was dry. You are correct the car GPS had no idea where to go, it wanted us to drive off the bridge, into what we thought was a river but was in fact where we should be. Mr W climbed down from above and found the cache but then we drove past it on the way to the next. TFTC

We've been here many times over the last few months but the road has been closed since the fires came through. Today it was open, so we headed in, although we nearly got took out by a large logging truck! Wazza9 made the find after a short hunt. TFTC

Tassie Trip Day 56 - It was another trip up into the Gordon area and this time collecting all those forgotten cache that are at least drive by types and see the area but it turned out to not be the best day as it rained and the clouds covered all the good mountain tops. However it was a wonderful trip despite the weather.

After approaching it from the wrong direction it was soon at the correct level however that GPS had us all over the place eventually the GPS was ignored and the Cache brain was engaged with the "Where could I hide a cache here" and after a short search the result was a quick find.

Thanks membsec for showing us this interesting place.

Found on way to Adamsfield Event

Well on the way back from the Adamsfield event we called at this one since I had driven past it on the way out this morning as i wasnt paying attention to the car GPS.
It was a bit of a search with my GPS putting me on the other side of the road but we got there in the end.

Thanks for the cache.

Having missed the chance to come to Adamsfield last year since I was in the Northeast of the state caching I was looking forward to this event and the chance to finally get to see the area without having to walk for miles.

It was an early start for me with me getting to town to pick up Tazweb and Zanbag just after 7am, google had told me it was over a 3 hour drive so we didn't mess about on the way, as we turned onto Clear Hill Road the car GPS was still saying over an hour to go but it turned out it was wrong and like all the other attendees we were early by almost an hour.

With all of us here we soon set off down the track to the event location calling at the huts and grabbing the 3rd cache of the day, being new to 4WDing and not knowing how my Challenger would fair I took the easy river crossing and after a chat with Alby I opted to get a ride to Adamsfield in another 4WD since I didn't want damage my new vehicle and maybe hold up anyone else.

Sscharlie was kind enough to offer me a seat and Alby took my fellow travelers in the lead 4WD, after we had breakfast and lunch all the 4WDs rolled out bar mine along a track that kept throwing up surprises, after the second or third big 'puddle' I was glad I didnt bring my car in here.

Found with Zanbag and SatinlessSteelRat on the way back from Albys 2018 Adamsfield adventure.

11-Nov-18
Today was the day of Albys Adamsfield event and this was the first geocache on the way that we had not found. Knowing this area well, having explored the Florentine a few times ,I knew how to get here without the GPS. We looped under, reminiscing about having to collect keys in the past to visit this area. Whilst the egg and Miss E turned the car around Miss J and I searched for the cache. We were on the wrong side to start with but Miss J soon spotted the hide and we had the log signed as the vehicle came back to collect us.
Thanks membsec
p.s. we left Why do they do that? for another day when we will drive right through the Styx.

This cache was a good excuse to take a break from driving on our way home from Strath Gordon.
We originally thought the cache was on the side of the main road but there was no where close to stop and we thought we were going to have to walk below the bridge to the river. A quick look at the map showed us that the bridge was over a road and not a river. A quick detour got us within range of GZ. The published coordinates were a bit out from gz, probably because GPS reception was poor due to the trees. Anyway, Mrs DnA! put on her cacher's hat, searched a bit closer to the bridge and quickly located the cache. Thanks, membsec, for the cache.

Hello Membsec Thanks for the cache.

I don't know how many time I have driven over or under this bridge my earliest recollections of driving over it would be heading down to the SW bush walking.

I think the first time I went under it was at very high speed when I was navigating for my brother in a car rally.

Today was a miserable day so my plans of climbing mountains were shelved so instead I drove out to Maydena to find your two new caches. As I drove past I spotted where I thought you had hidden the cache.
After parking the car I walking to where I thought you had hidden the cache as I was so confident that I spotted the hide that I left the GPS in the car. Lucky for me I was right in what I saw and the cache was easily found.

The log book was empty so a *FTF* as a bonus.

Found at 0800
