On a couple of week sailing expedition around Moreton Bay. We were anchored at Tipplers and walked across along Clayton Rd. A bit further along the dunes, we spotted the tree high on the edge of a big dune patch which I suppose was the "lake" - not sure if it holds water anymore, looks a lot different to the description picture.
A rain shower hit just as we started to climbing up the dune, luckily the tree provided some shelter while we found the remains of the cache. Only the bottom of a container here but a tiny spot to sign so we did and replaced in its nook.
After the rain abated, we continued our trek south along the beach, looping back to Tipplers via the abandoned surf club and Couran Cove.

29/12/20 14:22 only found the base to a fake rock here. Signed it but a find just doesn’t seem right. Thanks for the cache CouranCove
Found by la familia! Unfortunately the log was too wet to write in but we sealed it back up
We rode our pushbikes over to the surfside of the island and walked along the beach, passing lots of pied oyster catchers, plovers, terns, bluebottles and a few jellyfish as we went. Wonderful!
Great coords here. Thanks. The cache was just visible. The log is nice and dry even after this morning’s rain.
Thanks for placing this cache. It added more fun to our visit.

Lovely day out on jetski 3 up. Dora the Explorer, CDAH55 and me Later that day went tops turvy when ski went turtle. Water was cold. Found cache on beach after doing some bush turkey impersonations next to tree with views.
This was our last cache for the day. The last time that we were here we did not attempt this cache so today was the day that we aimed to turn it into a smiley.
It took a little while to find this cache as there were plenty of places where it could be.
It was eventually found and log signed.
After this cache we headed down to another cache which we could not find and on our return to the boat ramp three up on a jetski we fell off into the water. Whilst it was not freezing for this time of year, it was cold enough. Thankfully, we had a change of clothes at the boat ramp which made the trip home a lot more comfortable than it might have been.

Took a little while to find. We took the high road and CDAH55 took the low road. But Phil Serenity and I found the cache first. Gestier family 3 and CDAH55 2 - we win.
Grub62 and I are holidaying nearby in the Gold Coast & we met up with Smiley1982 as a bit of a family geocaching get together. We were are signing as S G B for short to save on log space and for ease of writing. We went on a 4 wheel drive tour of the island and our tour guide/driver (Paul who was extremely good and knowledgable on the island and also the caches). Paul stopped the 4 wheel drive a bit of a walk away from GZ and guided us to GZ and we thought we might have had another DNF for this cache due to the movement of the sand dunes. But clever and persistant Grub62 found this cache (after a little bit of a dig). We replaced this cache at GZ but in a spot (we hope) wont be buried by the sand. TFTC.
We were on an Adventure - Bunadoorian, Smiley1982 and myself - we headed over to South Stradbroke Island to find the GeoTour caches ( well those we could get to and still available). The ones closest to the resort we walked to with mixed results. We were able to look for a couple of the further away ones with the help of Paul our very informative , friendly and 4WD tour driver. This was the first cache we had found on the island and my first in Queensland! TFTC CouranCove It is very sad that the caches aren't being maintained very well. This was 4 of 4 finds with 5 DNF's for the day both on and off the island. After getting out of the 4WD and walking over the sand we were thinking - is it going to be DNF but after a bit of searching it was 'I've got it"!
TFTC! Well this one had me very dubious as to whether we would find it. But we were on a 4wd tour with Paul and he knew we were interested in geocaching. So he drove close enough to this cache for us to walk to, for then my Aunty to find the actual cache and sign the log for all of us as - S, G, B for short!

Found with The Duke whilst cruising southern Moreton Bay. Great view, but the lake was dry! TFTC

Friday. Another GZ loomed up easily! Yay. Loving this series. I’ve managed to have all finds so far too which is amazing. I took the direct approach to this cache (after leaving Minbalup), and was fearful of doing any damage to the plants, so took to all fours and edged up carefully – what a hoot – looking from the top downwards, I could have easily just gone around to the other side of this tiny sandy hill and had a very easy trip of it. Another face palm event. I did stop for a couple of minutes here to enjoy the sheer beauty of this whole area. I didn’t see any whales, but did spot some fishermen and some of the island’s bicycles on the beach (I’m sure they were meant to be left behind on the boardwalk). Only one grandmum and granddaughter enjoying the school holidays on this part of the beach this morning along with the fishermen who were braving the chilly wind and beautiful day. Signed the log and replaced as found. This cache was dead easy to find and wasn’t misplaced (unlike some of the previous caches on the island which have been moved away from their intended spot).
This was the 6th of 10 caches found on today's trip.
Thanks ***CouranCove***, for showing us this place.

Approached the 'lake' and couldn't miss the lonesome tree in all its glory perched up on that peak. Thought about taking a leap from the cresting dune to grab the tree roots and haul myself up the cliff face. Nah, too much energy needed so walked to the back of the dune and found an easy slope to get to the top.
Just as I was ducking under the branches, spotted the train discharging muggles at the surf club. With little fan fare got the log signed and arrived just in time to get the train back to Couran Cove. Thanks for an interesting geo tour CouranCove.

I've been eyeing up the GeoTour on this island since it was first published. Having negotiated dates, times, work and exams, I decided to bring Jess over for a few nights, after she'd finished her exams and before the school holiday rush.
Today a couple of other geocachers joined us and we'd booked a 4wd GeoTour adventure. We had the super helpful, super friendly Paul as our GeoTour Guide, and couldn't have asked for a better chauffeur! There were the northern caches from the GeoTour to be found plus a few others we wanted to fish out... and lucky for us, today Paul was able to be flexible with the dropping off and picking up and he even helped us find a couple of the caches.
Our Tour Guide was informative and interesting, I learned about the history and the sand mining of the area, about a few birds around, albino wallabies, and he even pointed out some whales in the ocean which were migrating. OMG how cool is that! I think Paul organised that especially for us. Thanks!
I would very much like to see this Lake with water in it, but that will have to wait for another visit. And having seen a fair bit of this island from the resort North, I do believe I will be back for another visit. It's truly beautiful here! Thanks for the cache and GeoTour, CouranCove! [:-)]

We were out on the beach now from the last cache and shoes were taken off to frolic in the crystal clear water, why walk up in the trees when this is down here. When we were horizontal to GZ we turned and sadly left the water and knew we were for sure about to endure a sand dune climb.
Up and over a sand dune and we spotted the lone big tree way up there, slipped the shoes back on to make the climb up. We stood there looking upwards and trying to spot the cache until the hint was read and we looked else where which proved fruitful and we discovered the pot of gold.
Name added time to hit the beach again and walk back to the one we passed on the way.

I parked my bike at the surf club and wandered along the beach to this one. A few folk fishing, but pretty quiet until I got near GZ.
An ATV tour came cruising by, but they were soon specks on the horizon again.
i was surprised how hard the sand was as I trekked over the sand mountains to GZ. An awesome spot for a cache indeed. I loved the way a moat has formed around GZ.

i like this cache container we were very tired when we got there but we had a lovely sit down in the shade TFTC
Decided to trek to this one from the sand dunes looking back possibly not the greatest idea as we were sunburnt and without shoes but some sore feet and exhausted bodies later we had some smilies TFTC
What a beautiful situation that we would never have visited without looking for this cache. A fav point deservedly and we’ll remember this one when we’re back in England!
What a view! Can still make out where the Cambus Wallace wreck laid! A bar in Miami, GC with the same namesake is worth a visit too!
Found on tour with monkey maker and dahumbug.
This was one final cache on the GeoTour today. And we are so proud that we achieved what we set out to do today, that was to find all the caches on the GeoTour.
Thank you CouranCove for setting this up. I think it was a good idea. And I helps to give people a look at what the island has to offer. Even though we only did a day trip today I am keen to bring my family back here for some r and r.
Sitting back a the resort with a cold drink reflecting on our day, we all agreed that it was one of those perfect days.
TFTC with this cache and thank you again for the GeoTour.

I'm amazed that to this day the crater formed from that explosion is still here. I mean the amount of sand and the height of some of the dunes we've seen today has been incredible. Not to mention some of the dunes are slowly engulfing the vegitation. So much sand movement but still somehow it's still here, crazy.
This one unfortunately brought an end to our geotour today. 300 odd meters out I looked north and said thats where I'd hide one and sure enough as the 300 reduced to 0, we were smack bang on it. Mind you I probably would have went a few meters higher which is where humbug was focussing his attention for the cache.
Hands down this has been one of the best caching days I've had. Great company, an amazing location and a cold beer to reflect at the end, what more could you ask for on a Perfect day.
Thanx Couran Cove for placing this Geotour, we didn't stay but our tour of the island has definitely inspired me to come back with the family. Cheers

Out and about with monkey maker and CoolumRoo having a go at the caches on South Straddy. We started at the top end and made our way south to Couran Cove.
We were a little unsure how we would fare at these GeoTour caches but we had a clean sweep of all the caches to be **First To GeoTour** getting our names in all the CouranCove caches. All the secret word/phrases were noted on our passbooks and our SouthStraddy Geocoin applications are in the mail.
We had a "Perfect Day" caching out on the water today.
If anyone wants to know anything else about our shenanigans, I can't tell because,

This was our 12th and final GeoTour Cache for the day. After having a clean sweep at every cache on our travels today, we had much success at this one also. Upon approach monkey commented where he would put it, and it was very close to there. After a successful GeoTour it was nice to walk back and enjoy looking at the facilities. As we enjoyed a lemonade at the bar while all the guests were at the beach bar, we reflected that in hindsight it would of been easier to moor in the harbour at the resort, hire bicycles to get around the island, and play some lasertag afterwards. Having no idea what the resort was like, I will say that we were impressed enough to contemplate a future visit and stay.

South Straddie Tipplers Trek - 2 days of paddling and caching fun with JaffaJ, Carlos the Jackal and geohubby Rob
Having set up camp at Tipplers, geohubby and I headed out to find some of the GeoTour caches - my main purpose for coming over to South Straddie (geohubby and the boys are mad paddlers so they came along to keep me company). We decided to have a go at the caches over the ocean side of the island first and this was the first one we attempted. I have never been to South Straddie before and it is really lovely. The sand dunes were amazing and big! Thankfully this was a nice easy find and we were also rewarded with a nice view. TFTC CouranCove

Out with Snickersallan, JACS Team and E(: for a FTF Hunt and a Geo Tour.
After our failed attempt at finding the cache at Jumpinpin, we got dropped off by our driver who had another booking to get to near the resort.
We found this one easily and while signing the log, took in the view from this vantage point.
Beautiful day and location.
Another **FTF** for us.

Joint **FTF** with JACS Team, E(: and patrol14. This was an amazing spot to get up too with such stunning views only thing is it's so windy and you have to hang onto the log sheet for dear life so it doesn't blow away. Certainly worthy of a favorite point from me for the views alone.
