It turned out I hadn't found a cache for a while so I looked for a quick near by cache to find on this cold morning.
After the brisk walk to GZ I found the cache on the other side from where I was looking.

Walked up the roadway to the top of the dam for the Adventure Lab then realized this one was nearby. Coming that way I didn't see a zig or a zag. Thanks for the cache, no need for a 5th replacement yet.

#12,171. A short zig zag walk in Hurworth. Good view. Quite a popular spot with quite a few other walkers passing by. Quick find between muggles. The cache - a micro rather than a small - was in good condition, all nice and dry inside. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.

Thanks for the placement, and for bringing us to this site, and …

Mr rattll wanted to pick something up in New Plymouth, which wouldn't take long, so what to do with the rest of the day? Big Grin
We did the extra walk to pick up this one while doing the near by 'Hundred acre wood' series.
It was a lovely winters day today, and there were lots of horses getting attention as we walked past the pony club area.
No problems making the find here, thanks for setting it up Juty Bug

Out and about today locating a few of the caches that have been waiting to be tackled but put off because of unknown access points etc etc (or any other excuse) . This time i was accompanied by two wonderful 'gentlemen' , local cachers! and the tasl seemed so much more straight forward. I was very close to this one some time ago when i was in the nearby horse area . nicely hidden but simply placed. many thanks for this cache today.

04-Jan-20
Was just about to leave when I found haha. Hint was a bit misleading tho.

31-Dec-19
Lovely view but unfortunately we were unable to find the cache. It’s been 9 months since the last find... we’re wondering if it is still here

25-Dec-19
These three Zig or Zag caches confused me - I often find a cache, mark it as found in the GPS then tell the GPS to Get Next Closest. As my GPS does not have room to show the whole title, I thought I had miss clicked and not actually selected Get Next Closest and selected it again. Almost failed to get this cache as I had thus marked it as found when actually I hadn't. Or maybe that was the other cache?

Ah - it was this one! because here GZ has been completely remodelled. The hide is completely gone. We put in a replacement cache, 7m from original hide. Original coords, size, hint all stay the same,

Merry Christmas!
It's Christmas Dai, day thirteen of Taybeedragon's and my big 3 week circumnavicaching trip around Mt Taranaki, starting from Palmerston North. Today we are rummaging around New Plymouth.

Highlights:
* 3 weeks, 536 caches
* Mt Taranaki had been removed for washing, which was a bit of a shame. Even after it had been returned we were only allowed to see it for it was less than half an hour a day.
* High percentage of caches with crappy coordinates Sad
* Amazing Pukekura Park
* AMAZING Pukekura Park light show!
* Pukeiti Gardens
* Lots of cache maintenance!

***[======== NZ Mega 2020 ========](http://nzmega.com)***

Planning for the [NZ Mega 2020](http://nzmega.com) event is well underway. It will be held in Auckland over Labour Weekend, 23 to 26 October 2020. It's going to be a massive celebration of geocaching:

* 20 years of geocaching worldwide.
* 20 years since New Zealand had the very first geocache hidden outside of USA.
* And it's 2020 - all the 20s!

Talk to your geo-friends and start planning to be part of [this event](https://coord.info/GC87777) - you won't want to miss it!

Merry Christmas. Another Zag orZig to complete. This area has been remodeled. We arranged a replacement cache with Temp RITR log to keep this one rolling along. Cheers

Day 13- Merry Christmas, Wednesday 25 December. Around New Plymouth again today.

The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby and I are spending Christmas exploring Taranaki via geocaching. Its been an amazing 3 week adventure. Rattls BBQ was a great event, meeting many other cachers. But also managed to fit in a few more events, especially New Years Day celebrating the start of 2020. Lots of caches - over 500. Lots of cache maintenance. Lots and lots of kilometers. And lots of amazing places visited along our journey. Mt Taranaki remained elusive for much of our travels and the caches on it at the top. Loved Pukekura Park Night Lights Show and the the Wooden Mechanical toy exhibition at NP Info centre.

Yay 300th Geocache found!!!
Bella was getting irritable so I let her choose which one to find next. She chose this one thinking it would be an easy leash walk. While not that far 90mts as the crow flys was further than she expected.

It can be a little bit tricky locating the track to the retention dam from the nearest road. Had to wait for a couple of walkers relaxing in the sun before they moved off and I was able to retrieve the well protected log in the cache. Thanks Juty Bug

It’s rare nowadays I can get to a FTF and for a start I thought this day was going to be no different, TheMaxners having found and logged Zig & Zag 2 before me. But where’s there hope... and in this case I beat them to here. Whew!
Thanks Juty Bug for another opportunity of another {FTF}. And fills a dot day to boot. TFTC
