After dropping Hazedarus off to go and look for GCAZXB5 Kaka Hill 459m I returned to town to do some messages then once he was on level ground again I picked him up and we wandered along to this long ignored cache.Thank you bumandworker.
For a number of reasons this cache fell through the cracks and remained unfound much longer than it should have. The cross between a boardwalk and a half bridge on our way to GZ was impressive.Closing in on GZ we had to choose the approach and took the easy one first just in case The not so easy choice was not hard and the log was soon signed. It surprised me (again) to see fences so close to MBT and cycling tracks that have one or sometimes even the two top wires out of barbed wire.I can come up with better ways to stop after missing a corner on a downhill.Found Bum cache #1632Thank you bumandworker
Out enjoying a bike ride along here this afternoon, nice and quiet at GZ today, great hide here, TFTC
Don't get distracted by the retaining wall when gps goes odd. Ta to geocache buddy K. TFTC(Bring your pen)
The plan for today was grabbing as many higher-up-the-hill caches as time allowed. We started at our house in Maitai, walked up Atmore Terrace and Jack's Track, passing Two Pines, which was already found some time ago. Then down to the MTB track and up Summit Road to grab Cache Talk, which was at a very nice location (won't spoil) and a neat hide and deserves a favo from us! Then back down and up to Jacks-Firball Firebreak. Here we found Sharland Hill 351m as the third to find. Quick find after the buggles (biking muggles) left. We planned to do it earlier but backed down when the FTF was already taken. Onwards it went to Top View, which is where the path started to become a bit less travelled and more gorsey. Still quite an easy find on top, thanks. According to the geocache map the ridge path continues to the next hill at View - Take a Break but this turned out to be a challenging walk. Path sometimes hardly recognizable, many pricklies, steep and slippery at times. But with some fantasy there was always a next section of the path we could envision so eventually we made it down. Up to View - Take a Break we used the experience of the previous finder and got to GZ eventually where the cache was quickly spotted. Paper very wet but already glad to have made it there. Now our time was running out, so no going back to the Brook side of the hills. We walked up to Lollipop, which was a pleasant path compared to the previous part. Quick find matching the hint. Also a piece of trash here but don't let that distract you, the cache is also still there. The MTB tracks look very extreme here btw, cannot image someone going down here comfortably. Anyway, time to head back down to the Maitai valley. We took the track with the alluring name Deadly Viper's Assassination Squad. Well, it was quite deadly at times with super steep sections. Although maybe we did not follow the right track everywhere. There are tons of paths here through the pine forest, since there is almost no undergrow. Eventually we made it down in one piece and quite easily collected Capp a Gap and Say What? and returned back home along the Maitai river. An eventful adventure while enjoying a beautiful day outside. Thanks to all CO's!
The last of the day. Some of the walkers passed me on my way in, and the cleanup staff seemed to be performing tail-end Charlie duties just after them. So that looks like the back end of the walking section of the event today.
This was a quick find once I got there, but before that I did have to backtrack slightly as I was on the wrong track. No issues though, always good to tick off an accessible B&W cache. I can’t have many more that simple to find. Don’t know why this took so long. TFTC bum.
Today we were in the Branford Park area of town. RG72 had entered a 13 km run around the environs which took in the centre of NZ spot and a few other climbs, and the start/finish line was here.
I took the chance to slink off for a while and get a few caches around the area, including some up the Brook. I didn’t target long walks up steep tracks, (some of which are closed anyway), but instead more handy ones. Each one was a park, walk, find though, so got a bit of exercise.

Passed this one on the lower walking track and didn't see any gap to get there, so we moved on and I thought of leaving it for another day. Walking with non cachers who weren't keen to go some metres back just to get the right trail.
But the loop we wanted to do wasn't possible without crossing the stream, which they didn't want to do either.. So we came back the same way and I took advantage of the wooden part to get to the right side, steep walk up, letting pass some bikers (be careful) and then a quick find and a pathtag.

I was still with my new friend who by now was ready to open a Geocaching account. Unfortunately, there was no cell signal here, so he had to do this later.
When we reached GZ, we both were searching and he was the one who actually found the cx. Afterwards, we chatted for some time. TFTC.

We are walking along this bike/walking trail. Took the bottom route but realised its 20m up there. So back to the stile and up that track. Searched but did not find this elusive one. Arranged a replacement to help this one along. Cheers.
Its Wellington Anniversary weekend and The Seagnoid is heading south. So its a weekend away with Zara, Toby and The Seagnoid with the main focus on LAB caches around Nelson and Tasman. And a day around Marlborough for cache maintenance and phone maintenance. Another awesome weekend.

Filling in time before heading off to Blenheim for a cache maintenance run. Found the hide here, nice and obvious. But of the cache there was no sign. Rolled downhill? Nope. Time for a replacement! Out with the dragon's excellent cache maintenance kit, and soon a bit of proxy maintenance completed.
It's Wellington Anniversary so what better thing to do to celebrate than to... leave! I hopped on a plane and headed over to Nelson and met up with Taybeedragon for a couple of days of adventure labbing in Nelson then to Blenheim on Monday for some cache maintenance and to pick up a huge swag of ammo cans (it's not what you know, it's who you work for!)

Thanks for putting out this cache for woolwood9 and I to find!????SL tm/ww NZ (may just be a black smudge on wet or plastic logs)*We soon had another good cache located, now onto the next one!*Cache and log in poor shape.Long drive and lots of walking today!
With the day being a bit overcast today, we headed into town to meet up with our daughter and grandson to grab a couple of caches in her area. Wandered along the track and soon came to this one. While I looked after our grandson and the dog, the others went on a cache hunt and soon had it in hand. Signed and replaced as found. tftc
It would be rude of me not to find this one before I head away so made the separate side trip for the find. Needed by beanie as there was a chill in the air and along the track I began my search. Believing my GPS had me over the stile and along the track and Marchwood's 4th one along was accurate as there was the cache in a worker-provided jar. T F T C b&w
Last day of May and after a nights rest at home I was back over the hill for a second consecutive day to get an unfound (by me) Earthcache from Brook Valley as well as some other cache treats. Only a modest few caches today but a nice walk around the airport and a FTF too!
A funny long weekend this one was. mrs capperz has headed to the North Island to await the birth of grandchild number 12, yes 12 (with another due in October), and so I was at a 'loose end', yeah right. Also on the agenda is an impending move of us and the household to Auckland, maybe as soon as 4 weeks time, and I have 3 days off work, fuel is not too badly priced at the minute (starting to sound like a Blues Brothers line) so it was a chance to roll down the drive for 3 separate forays into Nelson/Tasman territory to pick off some random caches. Not a 'numbers' trip, more a settling the stats trip. I was keen to make a few more beltfamily cache finds to get to the magical triple figures, plus some unfinished rail business from Marlborough's t S. A weekend of great tramping/walking/caching weather, 3 consecutive days of 20kms walked, nice, and some great scenery.

Time for a walk after some business in town to mop up a few caches up this valley.
This took a while. Found at tree #4 from “my” starting point.

Parked up at the BlackHole and went for a little walk along the Matai. This was find number two. Thanks for the cache.
A little detour up a geo trail and SJT_NZ had cache in hand. A quick find with SJT_NZ while on a casual shady stroll down the Maitai river on a hot afternoon, all in good order.
We wandered along the riverside pathway and anticipated this one would be not far off it. Not the case. After a quick hop of the fence and a climb up a bank we discovered paths that led back to a junction we'd previously missed. A quick hunt and the cache was soon in hand. All in good order, signed log and replaced as found. Thanks for another B&W cache.
Had to backtrack to find a good route. Found with No 13 and needed to re-read info before finding. TFTC
Six months after an unceremonious 1st to flunk attempt on this cash on the day of publication, it has remained here as a hopeful quick to find now I have received a confirmation from the CO and a previous finder.
Back again this afternoon with the dog for extra help and a distraction I revisited the location I looked before albeit with greater confidence.
Counted one, two, three, looked down and would you believe it, there’s the cache.
A definite trust your GPS cache as the GZ might go against some instincts.
Thanks bumandworker

Found with Ducksarse Dave while out breaking in new tramping boots today. We were muggled on our way up the valley but had better luck on our way down and with a bit of persistence soon had the cache found and the log signed.
As I approached I identified a likely looking hiding place but I'm obviously not as good at estimating distance as I thought. . . and Bum's obviously not into being obvious . Soon adapted to the new situation and found the cache just as described. Thanks for the hide .
Today I needed a quick find for another calendar day to get me to two. A very enjoyable walk in the sun from the bridge and a logical route to the cache revealed itself. A quick find at GZ . TFTC bumandworker.
After a weekend stuck at home I was starting to get cabin fever and running short on supplies so decided to pop out between rain showers for a couple of caches and groceries. I got to where I'd expected the cache to be to find I was 30 metres off, trusted the gps and took the direct route to it through long wet grass. Nice quick find then took the proper track back to the car just as it started to rain again. TFTC B&W

Good coords made for a quick find plus the bonus was an even better view from this vantage. Thanks bumandworker.
Gaps like this in Nelson normally indicate there's a SoBad puzzle in residence but not so here. A short walking detour from where we left our bikes below. I don't think we will be riding this "track" anytime soon.
Thanks bumandworker for the cache.
Thanks bumandworker for the cache.
Needed to get get a cache for today. My timing was perfect. When I got to the cache it wasn't raining. On the way back to the car the rain started again but only light.
I took Fozzie the geodog for a walk this morning. Carried him across the river and let him loose. This cache wasn't where I expected it to be. I didn't trust my GPS at first and started looking at random hint objects, then I spotted where I needed to go and found my way to GZ. Then I misinterpreted the hint / description and made it harder by counting vertically instead of horizontally. Once I sorted myself out on that front the cache was quickly found. TFTC, Biggles.
Not where I first thought it might have been but soon followed the gps and had the log signed. Gosh it was a hot day for a bike ride. Thanks bumandworker for filling that gap
For some reason I woke early this morning and couldn't get back to sleep as my mind was full - thinking about people, places and caches. So in the end I gave up and decided to have a look at my emails and there was a list of new caches including this one. Nothing like the lure of a blank log to get you cracking. I was actually heading to the other one further up but there were no familiar vehicles parked in any of the likely spots (only heaps of freedom campers where they're not supposed to be! Gerr!) so I decided to stop and have a look. Looked in several likely spots before deciding well I better follow the GPS and what do you know - there was the cache and a nice blank log. {FTF} perfect. TFTC bumandworker and capp... # 11,837
Hmmmph! Having equalled my personal best for ways to interpret, reinterpret and mis-interpret a hint I opted to pull the pin on this search; opting to go for the other FTF option further up river (which incidentally I also missed out on, having nearly fluffed that one too!)
I'm feeling I was close, just not having my caching eyes in today.

We had decided to walk to here from the other new cache. All was well until the sole of one of Sobad's shoes came loose. A quick discussion and he went back to the car while Mrs headed along towards the cache. The agreement was to keep in contact by cellphone, but we both forgot the reception in the valley is not great so somewhat delayed messages went back and forth. Meanwhile, once close, Mrs Sobad was trying unsuccessfully to get to the cache by following what she thought were geotrails. Spotted something from below, backtracked and approached as intended. After 10 minutes trying the wrong approach and not getting closer then 15m , the right approach got the GPS down to zero for an instant find. Mrs then walked along to the Maitai Cricket ground as the last message from Sobad suggested - and an instant find of the car there as well. So a shorter walk than intended, a longer drive for SoBad than intended to get reception, but we were pleased that 'alls well that ends well' fitted the trip.
Thanks. We did note there were some other gaps on the track though.
