DNF from 14 October 2023 avenged. The setting sun and rapidly approaching closing time of the Arboretum meant the area was pretty quiet, allowing a thorough search. Referring to a hint from a previous finder, I honed my attention and didnt look where I had previously focussed, suspecting those spots would not be the home of the cache. Before too long a familiar sight was seen, then log extracted, signed and returned. Thanks The Farmers 5 . --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------In the spirit of reconciliation we would like to acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of country on which we geocache throughout Australia and their long lasting, and ongoing connections to land, sea and community. We (the pants people) pay our respects to Traditional Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
With a free weekend and various geo-events on in Canberra, I decided to go for a trip over there. So today is day #2 of 3. I started the day finding some of the Lest We Forget ALs. Then I headed over to the first of two events for today. Time to CITO. A great clean-up. Most of it was small items but the area is certainly cleaner. Also, my number was drawn and a (joint) FTF for me. Afterwards, AKM and I headed over to the Arboretum to find some caches. We parted ways at lunchtime. For me, lunch was at Oporto. After lunch, I found two caches along the way while heading back to the Arboretum. Now back there, I cleaned up as much as I could before heading to the next event. Time to climb at the second event. It was great to see everyone again. Unlike a month ago, I decided not to do the rope climb but I did climb the (rope) ladder. This was enough to get me another (joint) FTF. Thats two FTFs for today. I finished the day up at the top of Mount Pleasant to find three of the caches up there. A very interesting multi-cache final. Now time for dinner and head back to the motel. TB visit. A big thanks to the CO for adding this cache to game for the Geocaching community to enjoy. TFTEs & TFTCs! Even armed with a hint from the CO, I have to leave this cache once again with a DNF. I certainly don't know what I'm missing while I am searching for it. Major cache blindness has struck once again. So, I have to leave once again with a for this one.
A windy day exploring the Arboretum today. Lovely sight with all the kitesGreat for my mindfulnessFound 14 July 2024
It was a glorious sunny winter's day at the National Arboretum. There were four of us at different times: smilerfrog, joeylovestreasure, C10Appel and myself. We started out with this geocache, which I think was actually found by a child belonging to a group who were at the same place at the same time, but not part of our geocaching group!Anyway, we had a lovely time exploring many parts of the Arboretum, and enjoyed brunch in the cafe. Thanks for the cache, The Farmers 5
Found on a crisp but sunny winters day with Kerry and Kate. Warm trees brighten the Arboretum. This was spotted first by a 4 year old. TFTC
Nice!Got to GZ and within like a minute, we had the cache in hand. We must have been lucky as we expected a brutal find due to the difficulty rating.Signed and replaced and all is fine.Nice one, thanks for cache!Coolabah OUT!!!
With our housesitting dog in the National Arboretum. Time to look for some caches. Nice found. Thank you.
Was spending the day in the arboretum with Lacelot and DustyEartha, while trying out the orienteering activity they had during the school holidays, and we stumbled upon this geocache. Thank you for the find
Today I dragged my best friend to the Arboretum to do some caching. For the most part, she hated it... too much walking, and largely not walking along the paths. I think she actually enjoyed the adventure and just didn't want to admit it, I'm sure we'll be back as an unbeatable duo soon. The gardens here are beautiful and walking through them made me appreciate them a lot more. This cache was spotted quite quickly!Thank you Farmers 5 for the cache!
Saw the broken line, felt and probed in as far as we could, nothing found, perhaps it needs a check.
Will check in the next few days if its missing or just wedged .Thank you for your patience.
As previously finder has said like is broken and wether it is in there or not I dont know. We didnt faff around with it too much just a routine sweep as we were already here for other things
During our two-month trip through New Zealand and Australia we arrived in Canberra to attend the Canberra Walking Festival. Today is the first day of walking. This cache was not found during the second day of walking.**The Farmers 5**, thanks for the cache.
We are currently on a eight week holiday which is mostly spent in New Zealand and Australia. However, the first three days were spent in Signapore as a nice break from an otherwise long flight. We had about three weeks in New Zealand which went by too quickly. The remaining five weeks are spent in Australia. Yesterday we drove from the Blue Mountains to Canberra where we wil be staying for three nights. We are here to participate in the Aussie Peace Walk. Today is the first day of this IML walk. We are lucky the weather is lovely. A clear blue sky and an exuberantly shining sun, but not too hot. Since the schedule it a bit thight for us there is not much time for geocaching but we cant restist having a look for this one. Unfortunately we were not able to find this one in the short time we allowed ourselves for the search.
Found it, but the tethering line is broken. It's too far in and is irretrievable. My pen hits the metallic thing in there. Needs replacing. Can I log it as found?
Came here weeks ago and couldn't find it. Back today and looks like its been all fixed.Pen isn't working though tftc
TEMBO! and I visited the cache Mununja. We saw interesting Things, walked arround and signed the logbook. Thanks to The Farmers 5 for hiding and maintaining the cache.T4TC Filser1
1st of 5 found today.Over though this one by a long way. I guess I focussed too much on the D rating. Nice spot that I hadn't been to before and early enough that nobody was around.TFTC The Farmers 5 and the Babylon.
Was here with my family doing orienteering. We met Natalie, who happened to be geocaching. So we joined in.
Came out with some friends to fly kites and stopped by on our way out, so worth it!
The visitor's centre had just closed so I needed to sit outside and read my book, contemplating the clouds while I wait for families to pass. Content to be in the presence of one of my favourite views - the nearby tower. And then another favourite view - just the hint of a GC. Grabbed it in a quiet moment and now I'll sit and contemplate some more until I can replace it. Stunning spot. TFTC
Plans for the day had been caboshed due to inclement weather but then it turned out nice enough to be outdoors, so I thought I would get in a caching wander around the Arboretum whilst it was nice. Most found easily.
#6413.My parents were visiting from South Africa and we decided to bring them to Canberra for a couple of days of sightseeing. The National Arboretum was first on our list and was definitely one of our highlights. This was also our first visit here and we will most certainly be back. The kids loved this section of the gardens. The cache was quickly found when no one was around. TFTC!
New cache in place with fresh log sheet .Stealth required at all times .Good luck !
Woohoo. Thank you for replacing the cache so promptly. After not finding another cache in the Arboretum, I came past here. My heart sank as I approached GZ as there was a mum with pram sitting here. But they left as I came around the corner. There is music at the main building. TFTC *Found with [Geooh GO](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobiltal.geoohGO)*
Detoured via the arboretum on the way home from Arawang, and had a hunt for the tasty trad DT on this one. Looked on and off as the nearby muggles (some of whom were kids orienteering) came and went, to not arouse suspicion. At least GZ offers a nice shady place to sit. Checked everywhere previous logs were suggesting, and got some pointers from a previous finder, but no joy. Thinking this one could be missing, given the other recent DNFs. Nonetheless a good reason to enjoy some more of the Amazing Arboretum. Thanks TF5. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------In the spirit of reconciliation we would like to acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of country on which we geocache throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. I tried every conceivable hiding place. There are two GZs for me - one what the map says and one where the compass leads me. So I searched both. Also asked a friend, but the indicated GZ was also empty and th nearby possibly occupied by a spider ?Only found critters and upset a colony of ants.
This was a tough one . Due to location and the absolute abundance of people . Kids tried to be discreet however with people orienteering with in the park they thought we were to . The kids explained what geocaching was . These people immediately downloaded the app .
At the Arboretum with geopartner and geohound. A pleasant walk around - just happened to pass a few caches along the way.
Looked in a likely area, but then considered other options. Soon, we had cache in hand. TFTC TF5

Out on a beautiful day exploring Canberra.
I was looking in the wrong spot but luckily Katarina had sharp eyes and quickly had it in sight.
You're my sister. Beautiful spot to visit

TFTC - and greetings from Tassie.
Found whilst out and about for a walk with some muggley friends/colleagues.
Spotted by one of them.
Not sure it's where it belongs as it's not per the hint.
Bit of a short visit, so any cache is a bonus.
FLTF.
Thanks, for this caching experience.
Cheers, EPs.

Special cache for me, being my 250th and find it a bit ironic to be a cache hidden like this. Being from Canada one of the most common hides in city’s would be hiding a bison tube in a pine tree and only put a rating of 1.5/1.5 or maybe a 2/1.5 and I would almost always not find it.
So for my 250th cache being one such cache found in short time compared to many non finds is funny to me in a way.
TFTC as always

This was a much tougher find them I thought it would be. Spent tons of time in the wrong place. Lovely day.
Found with The Leaky Cauldron. Looked in the wrong spot for about 10 minutes until we re adjusted ourselves and found the cache. Tftc!
This was our third attempt and of course within two minutes of looking we somehow found it! A favourite point for the frustration of our previous attempts!
DNF looking for like 10 minutes, but I didn’t find. Probably just because I haven’t found many caches
This one took longer than it should have. Too busy looking in all the little holes. Then the new geocaching recruit found it. TFTC!!

Five years in the making.
On a school orienteering activity at the arvo really the education officer found this as they were interested in geocaching and I was having difficulty finding this.
The gardens have grown so much

A beautiful walk through the Arboretum today. It doesn’t quite feel like summer, but the gardens look absolutely beautiful.
At GZ, we searched for ages, and we were just about to leave and log a DNF, when we decided to search on the ground, and then we found it there within a minute or so. We have replaced it very close to where we found it, but definitely not on the ground.
Log signed.
Thanks The Farmers 5

Day #1 (13/11) of 2
With my most likely last chance to attend an event in Canberra before the end of the year, I decided to take it. So at 6:40am I left home. Along the way I got a FTF and had breakfast at Gold Creek Macca’s. Then I headed to the Arboretum to find some caches. After these finds I headed to the event. Another great, CCE event to attend. That makes 14 total… so far. Hopefully I can attend some more before the end of the year. Afterwards, I found some more caches nearby the event and then off the National Museum of Australia to find some older caches and the new AL. Just as I was finishing up, it started to rain, so I decided to head to the motel to dry off and rest up for tomorrow. KFC for dinner tonight.
A disappointing DNF here. I'll be back...
TB visit on all found caches. I would like to thank all CO’s of the caches I found and for allow them to bring me and the caching community enjoyment. TFTC’s and TFTE!

Took us a bit of taking risks by poking in spots with potential hand biters before we found it. Hint is accurate and I found a little blue shiny gem nearby and decided to stick it in because it fit lol. TFTC
We arrived at GZ and started looking. Lots of muggles around so we stopped and thought hey, if I was the CO, where would I hide it? Then we found it straight away. Our 100th cache! Yippee!
DNF on this one today. Saw some potential places where it might have been but not sure if it's not there anymore.
I was worried that an attempt on this cache may take me a long time. Fortunately for me I was lucky enough to find it within 2 mins of arrival. Certainly it helped that the vicinity was very quiet.
Thanks for the fub

Found it within 5 minutes thanks to keen eyed 11 year old. A good end to the day after a disappointing DNF at Forest Shelter nearby.
Found it! Took about 20 minutes, but was really well hidden. Keep looking within the 10m radius, it's there.
