On holiday in Australia, caching when we can between attractions. Having a wonderful time at the Capital Geobash. Headed to Tidbinbilla to explore today, and these caches brought us up to Hanging Rock. Thanks for the fun earthcache! Favorite point awarded!
I did a tour of the area with a group from GeoBash and a local ranger. We learned a lot as we found some caches along the way. After that, Joolay took me on my personal geocaching tour. Isn't she the best? Wow! What an awesome rock formation. Answers have been sent to the CO. Thank you for the smiley and the fun!The day:Today was day 1 of my time in Canberra for the GeoBash Mega and getting to spend time with my friends. Hooray! It all started with a an awesome tour and then Joolay was my tour guide to a lot of other cool caches. What a great way to start off my time here. And the added bonus is spending time with my FRIENDS!Many thanks to all the geocachers who placed and continue to maintain their geocaches for folks like me to find. I know it's not always easy, but know that I appreciate you.
It was such a beautiful day to be visiting Tidbinbilla as we were organising one of their tours for the GeoBash. A lovely walk up to check out these massive rocks and we soon had the questions answered and some photos taken. It is such a magical place! Thanks for hiding this cache DARKSIDEDAN for me and others to find.
Second time to this location and it certainly deserves a cache .
We completed the loop around the large outcrop and met some walkers along the trail .
Many thanks to DSD

What a fantastic rock formation. I have not been here before but an easy walk to a lovely area. Answers sent for the group.

Took an afternoon walk in Tidbinbilla on a (previously) rainy saturday, and was rewarded with a nearly empty park to geocache in! After revenging myself on the "Picnic, anyone" cache, I did my best to assess the Hanging Rock for answers to this cache and took a suitably anonymous photo at the site.
I've only visited Hanging Rock a few times, but it remains a pretty stupendous piece of geology, well worth the attention.
Thank you!

Today is International Earthcache day - the perfect day for my first ever visit to Tidbinbilla. This place is magical!! Whilst out this way GLISS! and I explored the geology, grabbed a few caches, made friends with many birds and lizards, and I swear saw a Quokka. Such a fun adventure Can’t wait to come back and explore some more! Thanks for the cache.
Tidbinbilla is such a lovely area. Nibletricecakes and I enjoyed exploring it today. Thanks DSD for the earthcache and highlighting Hanging Rock.
Being the school holidays we needed another way to entertain the children. our original plan being messed up by closed borders.
Take the kids to Tidbinbilla I said! and a bonus for me I can tick one or two more caches in the valley.
That is one big torr! Ive been here multiple times in the past but forgot how big the rock is. I must be a very special place for the custodians off the valley.
The kids ran around enjoying the scramble and I enjoyed the views. Thanks for bring me back DSD.

In Tidbinbilla with AngelG27 to collect a few caches, including a walk up the spur to the 'Throne'. Great morning for it.
We were keen to tick off this one, given that both of us are trying to get to the magic 100 earthcaches. A very impressive set of rocks, indeed. My quick calculations on the weight of the biggest rock is about 4,000 tonnes (only about 6-7 times the heaviest aircraft ever built). That would put a serious dent in your day if it caught you by surprise. Fortunately, it doesn't seem to be going anywhere, any time soon.
AngelG27 got the nod from the CO for both of us. TFTC DSD

Cache 7867 on 20 Jun 2021.
Out on a morning caching mission with Fox in Jox - a rewarding effort with 12 caches of four different types found, 400m of elevation made, lots of sweat, lots of exercise and good company!
Second cache of the morning, I am still working towards my 100 earth caches, getting close now! These are some impressive boulders, they look like they have tumbled from a higher place. Can imagine they would have inspired some amazing legends. Logging with permission of the CO, photo attached.
Thanks DARKSIDEDAN for the cache and the fun!

Beautiful rock formation surrounded by dense bush. I can imagine this being a welcome camping spot for the local families and traveling tribes, I wonder how different it may have looked back then.
Great EC, thanks DSD!

What an adventure. Found it, and had a great time.
The robot clicked disapprovingly, gurgled briefly inside its cubical interior and extruded a pony glass of brownish liquid. "Sir, you will undoubtedly end up in a drunkard's grave, dead of hepatic cirrhosis," it informed me virtuously as it returned my ID card. I glared as I pushed the glass across the table.
He heard the loud impact before he ever saw the result. It had been so loud that it had actually made him jump back in his seat. As soon as he recovered from the surprise, he saw the crack in the windshield. It seemed to be an analogy of the current condition of his life.
She asked the question even though she didn't really want to hear the answer. It was a no-win situation since she already knew. If he told the truth, she'd get confirmation of her worst fears. If he lied, she'd know that he wasn't who she thought he was which would be almost as bad. Yet she asked the question anyway and waited for his answer.
Spending time at national parks can be an exciting adventure, but this wasn't the type of excitement she was hoping to experience. As she contemplated the situation she found herself in, she knew she'd gotten herself in a little more than she bargained for. It wasn't often that she found herself in a tree staring down at a pack of wolves that were looking to make her their next meal.
TFTC Last minute trip out to TNR to clean up a few more caches out here, mostly on the MTB today. A bit warm but not many muggles about today. Lots of kangaroos though, resting in the shade.
Grateful thanks to CO for placing and maintaining the caches to entertain me on my journey.

Answers sent after finding the nearby traditional as well. Not sure why I haven’t been to this bit of Tidbinbilla before - it’s awesome! Thanks, DSD.
Aquilus1 and I came out to Tidbinbilla to pick up a few caches in the area.
We came by here and found the answers required and sent them off to the CO who approved our logging. Tftc DARKSIDEDAN!!!

Out and about on a cool summers day with dty73 for her 10/11 types in a day. Having found 13 types previously I was along for the ride the fun and support to see the caches found. Heading out to Tidbinbilla was a bit of a trek but with the free entry and a letterbox and earth cache right by each other, and an easy trad as we passed by this was a good choice of location.. as well as a nice one!
Just a short walk from the carpark but I'm either getting old or unfit or lazy as the walk up that little path was harder than it should be! Once at the top though it was nice to sit in the shade as we sorted through the questions and took a few photos. The walk back down was much easier and its a lovely spot to visit here. Answers have been sent for us both. Thanks for the earth cache Darksidedan.

A plan was hatched to go for a drive with DSD and Loci612 today to visit Tidbinbilla that had just been reopened. The weather was beautiful and there were a heap of cars out here, although we didn't come across many people while walking where we went.
We personally have not been in here since 2011 so we have heaps to find in here so no doubt we will be back.
Answers were given to CO while standing looking at this awesome rock. Was given the ok to log.
Thanks for the EC DSD great spot

Not worth the bother to look so will do an on line find. Much the way my TB’s were. It’s how the game is played.

I was in the reserve again for the second time in two weeks. (A week ago the CO of this cache was with me in a successful FTF attempt. But that's another story.) The main purpose of this visit was to ascend to Tidbinbilla Throne, a mere 4.5/4.5. TikvaNZ was with me, and we achieved that with some time to spare. I asked TikvaNZ if he didn't mind swinging by this location, so we went for another (much shorter) walk and had a good look at the humungous boulders sitting there on that little hill. We startled some wallabies, who were in the dry creek bed.
I took a heap of happy snaps at the geological feature, and got up close and personal with the really big boulder. I dare Noikmeister to put a cache on top of that one!!!
Thanks for the geology lesson, Dan.

Logged with permission .... Geodaughter and her friends walked to hike to mountains and beautiful view... thanks
After walking up to Camels Hump I noticed this nearby cache was available for checking out. Been many years since I have been to Hanging Rock and certainly worth a revisit. TFTC.
Arrived at Tidbinbilla at the same time that storm clouds started to loom over the main range. I was desperate for a walk so I picked this one as short and easy.
The rock is far more spectacular than I recall and definitely worth a visit.
The photos show me at different sides of the rock.

This was a good excuse to revisit Canberra's Hanging Rock. Always impressive. There were a couple of kookaburras along the path today that were singing away joyously. Always a lovely spot. Thanks

What better way to visit an Earthcache than with the CO himself! Verbally having a chat about the cache and the questions / features sure is a bit easier than putting it all into a nice email! After having success on the traditional cache nearby, I checked out this Earthcache and also snapped a selfie for my log.
Thanks DSD, a great spot for it!

**The Day:**
Myself and DSD planned a huge day out to Tidbinbilla to find as many caches as we could! An early start leaving Canberra at 7am, grabbing some food along the way and walking out to the first cache to make a find at 8:30am.
We clocked up 40,000 steps, which was 30km of walking over 9 hours! We also managed to walk on parts of 11 out of the 20 trails within the nature reserve, and didn't have a single DNF which was quite amazing given the amount of unloved, and previous DNF's a couple of the caches had!
An awesome day was had, with perfect weather and lots of fun along the way!

Georgeous crisp sunny mid afternoon in the reserve for a stroll around the bush. Only saw our native kangaroos and many small birds. Quick and easy walk having been here just last October walking with our group undertaking many of the trails on offer.
We had fun learning more info on this beautiful location. Loved learning about the aboriginal experiences and history. Answers have been send to CO. TFTEC DARKSIDEDAN.

Quite a few people in the reserve today, but not many here. Quick round trip walk from the carpark.

Chooo ooo [FTF] at around 11.00am... Have been at this spot caching before, but that was a long time ago, so it was nice to come back today. Beaut weather made this a wonderful little walk. Always enjoy coming to Tidbinbilla.
