Oops, it's easy to assume the previous DNF was caused by someone having a beginner's look but if someone who has found 13000+ has a DNF I need to sit up and take notice .
Today was an exploration day. Parked up and eventually had a log book in hand!

Family holiday time...a couple nights Kaikoura, a couple Picton & finish off in Nelson.....
Kaikoura and Picton done...time for a couple nights in Richmond with family.
After a morning helping my sister with a few jobs we all came out in the afternoon so the kids could go for a swim...lovely warm water. Stopped by for a quick find and sign. Thanks.

Had a leisurely bike ride along the trail from Richmond, did a fun lap of the single track at Conifer Park, and found this on the return journey.
It's a simple find - that I complicated immensely. Ignored the obvious feature and checked out several others that matched the hint. Nearly gave up, read some earlier logs and realised I was looking for the wrong sort of container.
Once I changed my mindset the find was quick.
Thanks for the entertainment

Thanks for putting out this container for woolwood9 and I to find!
SL **tm/ww NZ** (may just be a black smudge on the many wet or plastic logs)
*Soon located, plenty more light rain today*
Thought this one might be gone with all the recent work at the GZ, but nope, there it is!!

Quick park and grab between passing trucks. Left a new plastic bag for the cache, which is all good. Thanks Sidewaze!!
When the husbands away the wives will play haha - Straight out the door for a Saturdays geocaching adventure with Missnboyz. Not a pleasant place for a cache smells revolting but log signed and jumped quickly back in the car. TFTC
Signed the supplementary sheet that is in the cache. On a windy bike ride today, tftc
I had to deliver something to my father at work and since this was close by, decided to stop for it on the way home.
Had to wait for a passing muggle. The smell here is horrific... but we got cache.

I disabled my caches during Level 4 lockdown to encourage everyone to do the right thing. Now we’re moving to Level 3 I’m going to leave the decision to search for a cache or not to each individual. Remember you still need to stay in your bubble and a bit of hand sanitiser before and after handling a cache would be appropriate. Keep yourself and others safe.

Nice quick cache and dash after having lunch on the beach. Tftc with isistibisi.
A quick find after taking a wrong turning....honestly, I wasn’t looking for a cache! TFTC
Took us a few minutes to find, found the case initially but since it was attached we thought it wasn’t what we were looking for. Eventually realised our mistake!
One of 12 caches located this afternoon on a cycle ride around parts of Rabbit Island. Unfortunately the weather was totally unappealing, with a very strong wind near the beach and a constant threat of rain! Still good to get the exercise of a bike ride and the satisfaction of a few caches!
Took a brief moment to spot! #3088. TFTC.

Today we visit Rabbit Island. We made a ride with bicycles and found this cache. Thx for the cache.

Have tried for this one before, earlier in the year but my GPS played up and kept offering a variety of options, none of which were here, nor held caches. A recent trawl through the logs heartened me for another attempt and today I swung by whilst 'passing'. Sure enough cache was soon in hand and I could admire the new? large white gates to thwart Rabbit Island adventurers. T F T C Sidewaze and Merry Christmas.
Am over the hill during the week for a change, it's normally weekend visits only. This time the former cacher known as nightowl19 is signing her intention to join the NZDF in RNZAF and is doing her fitness testing and briefs at the Nelson Careers office. That took a few hours and was most enlightening, and after a bite of lunch in Richmond it was time to split up for other duties. Both adults of capperz had to 'secretly' get each others xmas presents, from the same shop I suspect. So, I decided to do a large inefficient loop of 5 caches and get to the shops just before pick-up time.

Out for a morning bike ride exploring the eastern side of Rabbit Island this morning. Started off along the beach then the forest roads the rest of the way. Now heading back to the car and made the quick grab. Thanks for the cache.
Picking up a few of the caches we have passed in this and the last trip out here. Looks like it is time to come back and work through the rest . A quick find and sign. TFTC.
Grabbing a few caches on our way home - a jogger went past but ran off into the forest block witout a look our way so a quick find and sign - thanks for the cache
Out of DUNEDIN and headed to Nelson for a week. On a mission to tick off our 2000th cache on this trip.
Decided to spend the afternoon on Rabbit Island cycling around and caching as we go.
Almost there, this is find number 1965!

With a rabbit mad microcacher we couldn’t pass by Rabbit Island without a look. This seemed an appropriate cache to find too. Imagine our horror to discover we’d lost our pen somewhere between home and the cache though. I hope this photographic proof of finding the cache will do in place of an actual scribble. TFTC
I cycled around Rabbit Island this morning. The one thing you have no control over when you plan these things is the weather. Today the gods smiled on me, it was perfect. All good here. TFTC
Paddle chick and I had been around part of Rabbit Island pc had gone a head to get the car while I went to get this cache nice easy find. Thanks for this cache Sidewaze
Checking out Rabbit Island and it's many delights with Lustylass. This was number 12 find for the day.
Out today on my bike. What a fantastic day for a ride around Rabbit Island and with so many fantastic caches to find its looking like a fantastic ride. Thanks to everyone whose caches I found apologies for the cut and paste. You made my ride very interesting with some quick finds and some not so quick and a couple of frustrating ones as well. TFTC
I was dropped off here on the way to the beach. It was a nice walk and a nice start with this cache.
Took a second to find
Bend over, looking at the exact spot and there it was. Great, thank you!

We were on our way 'home' from an event not too far away, and had taken the ferry from Mapua onto Rabbit Island. We really enjoyed cycling this part of the Great Taste Trail, and were glad there were caches hidden off the trail. It encouraged us to stop and get off the trail, to enjoy the views. We couldn't look for all the caches along the trail, as the wind was strong and the sky was getting darker, and we kept feeling more spits of rain. But ... the name of this cache is awesome!! My grandchildren call me Oma, so I felt we had to stop to find and log this one!!! It took a bit of searching before we found this one, but we were eventually able to find and log it! Thanks for this cache!!! Gets a favourite from us for the name!
No find for us despite looking high and low and every where in between....darn, hate it when that happens.
On our way to Rabbit Island we stopped and found a few caches.
An easy find.
TFTC and greetings from Denmark

A quick find on the way out of Rabbit Island. Grabbed it when it was clear both ways. Good spot with plenty of parking. TFTC Sidewaze.
Another warm day so Jo and I planned a trip across the hill, just for a bit of therapy and a change of scene really. Jo hasn’t had a lot of time off over the holiday period.
So we set some goals.
Lunch at Devilles, a swim at Rabbit Island, and a pint at the free house before heading home. Some of those are usual haunts, others not, but the weather dictates these things. Those were all achieved and a few caches along the way. Cachewise the goals were walking to the centre of NZ; then Best, Rough and Rabbit Island. A few others in the vicinity. Anything park and grab or within short walking distance. Didn’t pack the bikes, they will be coming another day.
Thanks to the Nelson COs. We haven’t been here much in 2018. Will aim to get over more in 2019. Had fun and all caches in good shape.

Found with NZDi. Yesterday afternoon NZDi suggested we go to Nelson for the day. She had a couple of shops she needed to visit but it would give us the afternoon to do some geocaching. After a small discussion of our geocaching options, we decided to take our MTBs and do some more of Rabbit Island. This is still a target-rich environment for us despite three previous visits, similar to the Wither Hills Farm Park in Blenheim.
So last night I sat in front of the computer and developed a plan of attack which should have given us between 20 and 30 finds depending on our success rate. What we didn't know from our desktop planning exercise was that some of the caches we were targeting were in areas made off-limits by logging operations. Despite this and three or four DNFs, we still managed to get 18 Rabbit Island caches plus a bonus seasonal cache closer to town. I also managed to halve my remaining number of caches to get 1000 B&W caches from 22 to 11.
Parking up closer to the beach, we hopped on our bikes and headed to this cache for a QEF PnG. From here our intention was to head into the centre of the pine forest to get the caches on Bird Road, however our plan came unstuck with the 'No Unauthorised Entry' signs, so we had to change our plan on the fly. We eventually got the Bird Road caches by taking a different route that didn't have any nasty signs on it.

Last cache for this year. Found a rather large muggle but managed to get it OK. TFTC
Decided on a drive over the hill to test out the new bike rack.... After a ride over near Richmond I decided I had enough time to get a few caches here before the gates are locked.
This one was a PnG before going for a ride.
