After the devastating fires that went through here recently, and then Covid-19 had an influence as well, i have just performed maintenance on this trail. 3 from 8 have survived. I have replaced containers where i thought appropriate, but several still need replacing where i thought they needed to be replaced as they were, or archive them. Should get to this over the next couple of weeks, and hopefully then, the branchline can reopen.

I will get to this cache within the next few weeks.

Part 2 found!

This one is so tiny! Our GPS wasn't great here so it was a miracle we were able to find it - we were initially looking about 10-15 metres away in a tree. TFTC!

A nice afternoon walk with husband and the dog finding the Wangi Branchline series, I just happened to move something and the cache revealed itself. Tiny and well hidden!

Cool cache description GeoIan! It would have been awesome seeing these trains cross over the traffic at the nearby (now non-existent) bridge! Found the (rather obvious in hindsight) fire trail after a spot of bush-bashing and made my way to GZ. After a quick search found the cache, though I felt I had to double-check that it was actually a micro I was looking for. Signed log on this tiny cache and replaced all as found.

I went on to find further caches in this series but please note that on my way back I saw a SNAKE in the tall light-coloured reedy grass near this cache. Or rather, I saw the black tail of a good sized snake slithering out of view. So be cautious around here. Having said that I think it's only the second real snake I've seen geocaching, so I'm averaging about 1 snake sighting every 400 caches. Found a stick to bang the ground with (I forget whether that scares snakes away or attracts them) and made some noise by singing "Snakey snakey snake, time to go another way, snakey snakey snake, back to Fraggle Rock". Got home safe.

We have travelled up from Sydney’s Northern Beaches, staying for a couple of nights in a park cabin at the Lake Macquarie Big4 Tourist Park in Mannering Park, to continue with our caching adventures on the Western shores of Lake Macquarie. Our previous visit to the area was in March/April 2018 for the OZ GeoMuster 2018 Lake Mac Mega Event, where our family’s chief puzzle solver had managed to solve (unassisted) a good portion of the Mega GeoArt puzzle caches that were on offer. And this new visit will hopefully see us complete most of the missing pieces of that Mega GeoArt, thanks once again to our family’s chief puzzle solver’s (unassisted) puzzle solving efforts. This was the 17th of 28 finds for the day, and 39th of 73 finds for the weekend.

After finding "Wangi Branchline. Bridge? What Bridge" we started following the rough bush track, running alongside the old Wangi Wangi railway branch line, and this was the next one we came to. And, guided by the helpful hint contained in the cache description, we soon had the tiny CIH. TNLNSL, and then replaced as found. TFTC GeoIan.

Found on a sunny long weekend Monday morning, tftc. After more than 600 finds, I still make the rookie error of not reading the cache description, once read, a quick find was made

Found the sneaky little bugger but decided to go no further as it was too hot today, but will have to return on a milder day to finish the series. Thanks GoeIan for the cache.

Found today revisiting the Branch line after some DNF's on a previous attempt, and trying for some of the OZGM series. Took a while to find as the cache was about 8 meters from GZ. TFTC GeoIan

18-Jul-18
Found by myself on the way home after work. Still seeking some numbers for the Hidden Creatures Souvenirs I came past here to find some before it got dark. I basically ran this branchline today, doing every second to the end and the others on the way back. The last one being found in compete darkness as the sun beat me.
I really enjoyed this series, as trains are awesome, the area was great, the hides were varied and the run was fun.
Thanks for the history, run and cache!

I think we lucked out today by following the intended trail and missed out on the hilly bits. Skirted around some marshy bits. Definitely not one to do after rain. Sig was on a roll today and the cache was found. You will definitely need tweezers to get the log out. SL replaced as found. TFTC GeoIan

Parked off the road in the suggested location to walk the length of the line for all of the caches. The cache was found after looking in the obvious place. TFTC

Reperio at 1430.

With so much rain this past week, today was a good day to get out and about and take the family to find a few caches. This series gave us the chance to take the kids for a walk, and whilst the track was extremely muddy in parts, everyone had a ball.

This was our first stop of the series, and the kids soon located the cache in the most likely spot.

Gratias GeoIan.

This was our last cache of a nice morning walking in the fresh air today. I left the first one in the series for when I come back to avenge my dnf. We crossed over from the track we were on to this track and cachekel made the find in a place I had a too quick look at. Thanks for the cache GeoIan tnln replaced as found sl

Coordinates were jumping around all over the place. Found it on my way out. Nearly gave up.

After two months of doing a cache a day working towards a 150 day streak, this weekend I got jack of all the driving back and forth and decided to clear out the region instead.

We drove the Xtrail to within 110m and then I bashed from the fire trail to GZ down the slippery hill where I made a quick find - although I tend to think a bigger container here might have been more reasonable. It was almost buried here which for a nano makes it pretty tough - I think I got lucky.

Thanks again for accurate coords. TNLN TFTC

We were still fresh at this point and so we were all searching for it - even the kids! We found the feature in question and Yeah09 spotted the cache. Nanos in the bush are ... interesting. (And I haven't encountered enough of them that I don't still enjoy them Smile )

Found with Day1976, Yeah09, TheRabbitBanana, TG4TheWin and AslanMane.

Finding ourselves with a couple of Hrs free time away from the OZGEOMUSTER MEGA, we made relatively slow finds on most this trail today, finding co-ords almost always 6m out. Considering the area and trees, pretty normal for my phone.

Very well camoflauged in the bush! I think you do need sharp eyes to find it quicker, Not that hard but very sneaky.

I always enjoy a nice series that follows an old rail line. I own one myself down in Victoria. Thanks for an excuse to explore some lovely bushland.

One of the best cache ever!

31-Mar-18
After so much jumping in and out of cars in the last two days, No_Tomorrow and I decided to have a go at a bit of walking for a change. Found the parking spot but had to miss the first in this series as we realised that we didn't have the right access point. Continued on to GZ but were surprised when we saw just how small this container was. But we did find it, and we did sign it, and we did appreciate being at this interesting place. Thanks GeoIan.

It wasn't until we had walked a little further past this geocache that I realised the significance in the cache name. I'm sure where we found it was not it's original hiding spot based on what it was. It was just sitting around at the correct GZ.

31-Mar-18
Going forward on the Wangi branch line, we proceeded up a bit to GZ. It’s not too apparent here but every turn suddenly reveals pieces from a long-gone era, and the cache hide is a perfect example of it. Around the tree line our GPS started getting spotty (but not too bad!) and we found the cache before too long. The log was signed, hide was reset, and we pressed on further. The sun beat down, but determination was winning over.

Found with Barrelledover!

Really enjoyed the walk, the scenery and the history for this but was disapointed about the whole nano in the bush concept... But found them all in the end, even though some took a long search. I did like the final though! Thanks.

An easy enough walk to GZ. Eventually found after checking the same spot multiple times. Thanks GeoIan

27-Mar-18
After #1 I walked up the "track" to this one, pleased that the track greatly improved once past the taller grass sections. The GPS was not a lot of use as I checked out around GZ then came back to the first place I had looked, and found the container after a much more thorough look. Thanks GeoIan for the placement here, I am looking forward to walking on to the other 6 caches after Easter.

Find #1985 ***FTF***
Well, this never happens. We were caching in Toronto this morning, and having no luck, when several notifications rang out - we called our current search a DNF and changed plans. We were parked and on the trail in about 10 minutes.
We got to GZ, and spotted some structures that seemed promising, but a read of the description (RTFM!) nudged me to the right structure, and the (tiny) cache was spotted. Now, how far along this track could I get in this heat with an 8 and 5 year old? Bribery will be needed! TFTC GeoIan.....

**FTF** with my Dad and little brother today - so cool to have these appear while we were caching just up the road!

After grabbing one nearby we made a dash for this one, but a previous appointment had us very time poor. After a quick search and no luck we were forced to move along with no find.
