Answers sent to co by frazelle on behalf of both teams. Some interesting locations, lovely day to be out. Tftc and interesting information happy 6700 frazelle
Answers sent to CO.Lovely day for a nice stroll. This will mark our 6700th find TFTE
I rarely do earthcaches because they are few and there is a souvenir attached to a find annually. I cant blame the lack of earthcache finding for the shortcomings in my geological knowledge though I wish I could because Im really not very good at them. Despite that, we visited the waypoints today and enjoyed the serenity of the river. Its beautiful and a shame that we ruined it easily and now making it difficult to fix. We played and kicked a ball around in some of the surrounding parklands. It was a really nice morning! Now for lunch and some plane watching. TFTC!
Found It!Interesting history. I visited the waypoints, had a closer look at the river and have sent my answers to the CO.TFTC
Had a day off today and decided to do the two valleys trail, slightly modified to get done caches. This was 2 of 9. Tbh I dont often do earth caches, but the beauty of the area really got to me and I thought Id give it a shot, I was going to all the waypoints anyway. Tftc!
OCW Discobob3 and finally got my answers together for this one even though Ive been to some areas a few times before. Im taking the opportunity to get my earth cache in today for international earth cache day. This one has been on my close by radius for many years so it is nice to finally lay it to rest. Did the legwork on a bike. Answers sent.TFTC!
Ive walked the Cooks River tracks in bits and pieces over the years, mainly with my dog and sometimes a friend who lives over this way. Ive never done it all in one go so collecting information from waypoints has been slow, and then we had all those months of rain when geological study isnt so much fun. With restricted distances we could travel from home for a couple of years I hadn't been here for quite a long time, until the recent Geocaching NSW cycle event. That reminded me of this excellent walk and with today being International EarthCache Day and such a beautiful day it's perfect for a geodog walk. Now Ive completed the Earthcache! It does look quite different in some places now to when I first began walking here and began looking at the Waypoints. Not such a bad thing as it shows that the river remediation is in fact working!Natural wetlands are reforming and birdlife is returning to the Cooks River. This walk is definitely worth doing. It is recommended in a booklet suggesting places to walk your dog in Sydney. Thanks for the Earthcache. They definitely make you look at the environment in a different and more critical way. Cache # 5606
I visited all five waypoints (not just the required three) of the EarthCache on several excursions to the area, stopping off on my journeys going to and from work, with an added bonus of picking up some new Traditional caches that had recently appeared very close to several of the EarthCache waypoints. All of the waypoints were quite interesting, with the wetland project at Cup and Saucer Creek (waypoint SUTTON04) being the most impressive of the five, with its environmental rehabilitation measures supporting an abundance of birdlife on display during my visit. Pondered the environmentally thought provoking waypoint questions, and formulated my answers, which have been sent to the CO for approval.TFTEC Team MavEtJu, and happy International EarthCache Day 2023 to everyone Find #6391
Found at the end of a day cycling the cooks River with JennyFromTheFarm. This was the last cache of the day and it was pretty hot by the end. Took my a long while but finally got around the sending the answers and logging this. Thanks. Interesting history of the cooks river which I've cycled on and off for over 10 years.
An earthcache needing more legwork than usual and addressing some interesting ideas. An example of ill-informed officials of the past making the wrong choices with the best intentions. Thanks Team MavEtJu.
Out for the early morning cycle, made a new trad near this Earthcache pin the turn, then down stream to pickup the WPs for this one and across to SYD to pick up the virtual. Icon month nearly done. It was quite early and dark, but I managed to see with the cycle light the WPs and I did some great reading once home to confirm my answers. Thanks for placing this Earthcache MavEtJu #2058
I did this earthcache whilst cycling the Cooks River track. I found it quite interesting with a nice summary of the history and work done on this river. Questions were quite good - making me think which is good for me old brain. Thank you Team MavEtJu for the time you have put into creating this earthcache.
And here multiple spots to visit along Cooks River!
Thanks for the cache.

TFTC,
This is the nearest EarthCache for us and to get the Souvenier we decided to come out for a great walk.
Lucky the afternoon is rain free.
Enjoyed the walk and good to see the improvement in river quality although there is still a long way to go.

Came to claim an Earthcache for Earthcache weekend. This is the 1st t Earthcache like this that I have seen. Interesting, at least it wasn't raining, but very wet under foot. Must be low tide. Wazza9 has sent the answers. Thanks to MavEtJu for bringing us here.
Visit to Sydney
I am visiting my daughter in Sydney and having a blast caching. I visited the locations either on my scooter or by car. They really gave done a lot to try and improve the river and water quality. Answers have been sent to the CO. Thanks for hiding this cache MavEtJu

Having visited locations in Tempe area I returned to Canterbury section yesterday one of my first caching areas. So glad they are fixing the Cooks river now, one of my favourite walking areas. It’s sad to read how Europeans destroyed the area in such a short time. Thanks for giving history of the area.
Another great geology lesson, I really do enjoy earthcaches. A spectacular day along the Cooks River today, not a cloud in the sky. I was on the bike so was passing these waypoints along the way. Loved to stop and take a closer look at some of the fascinating history and natural features here. I've ridden this cycleway so many times and still find some new things to look at every time.

#1745 First of two Earth Caches this morning. Been slowly working on this for a few weeks with Rieka. We finally finished getting all the information required. Really enjoyed walking along the river trials to complete this cache. Thanks for the opportunity to explore our local area.

Really enjoyed walking along the river trials to complete this cache. Even spotted a couple of owls, which is new to this area. Thanks for the opportunity to explore our local area.
Did a very long bike ride along Cooks River today (30+ kn). While doing this visited all the waypoints for the earth cache to collect evidence and made lots of pictures. Weather was great and made for a very enjoyable trip.

Really enjoyed the walk this morning, with birds singing, sun out ready for another warm day. Truly learnt a lot about the history of the river. Captions Cook had high regard of the the river but it probably wasn't handled in the right way, thanks for the history of, Team MavEtJu
This geocacher reported that this geocache should be archived. A community volunteer reviewer has been notified.
This one took a bit of co-ordination to ensure all the relevant waypoints had a visit. Starting at the eastern end, we made our way to the main spots finding a couple of caches along the way. Some interesting history- liked the physical spot at the Sugarworks and the map of where the river used to run through the airport is amazing. Answers sent off. TFTEC!
Dear AUSHAZ,
You submitted three answers. You had one right.
You submitted three pictures. One can copied from http://cooksriver.org.au/many-bottles-cooks-river/, the other ones were so cropped that they were not identifiable.
I don't think you have visited these locations. As long as your "found it" is posted, this note will stay here.

I've walked much of this path over the last couple of years, yet never in one continuous walk, until today.
I was surprised to learn that the river has undergone so much "manipulation" by man!
I have my fingers very firmly crossed that the efforts to return the whole river to it's healthiest yet won't take too long.
An interesting walk and I learnt a lot today

{FTF} joint First To Find with Brewmaker, Gatherer Hade and morry9 (logged with permission from the Cache Owner).
With the prospect of a newly published Earth Cache to be discovered, 'Cooks river' (GC7J4CC), I put the feelers out to see who else might be interested in checking it out. Brewmaker, Gatherer Hade and morry9 were the keen ones who put up their hands and we hatched a plan to meet up at one of the waypoints in the morning.
Morry9 and I arrived early, with the others held up in traffic, so we started working through the question in anticipation. It seemed we had plenty of time up our sleeves, so I rolled up mine to do an impromptu Cache In Trash Out of the river bank and surrounding area. Lots of bits of plastic, discarded drink containers and even a needle (thankfully with the tip capped) this time. The others arrived on scene and we discussed the features of the river in relation to the question. With an answer supported by all parties, we proceeded to the other waypoints and repeated our efforts, both in terms of the Earth Cache and the CITO'ing. Two full bags of rubbish collected was not a bad start. Brewmaker volunteered to type up our collective answer to the Cache Owner and we were satisfied with our joint efforts. Thanks For The Earth Cache Team MavEtJu.
Being such a nice day along the Cooks River, we decided to go and hunt for some other caches along the walk. Close to one of the waypoints for the Earth Cache was 'Hutton Street Troll (Canterbury)' (GC2ZC0Z) in Hurlstone Park, which was a quick and easy grab as we strolled past (or under) the bridge. On the way back to the cars we stopped past 'Cooks River History - Sugarworks' (GC7E0H9) in Hurlstone Park, which was an interesting read of the local history and highlighted a beautiful building behind us. A nicely concealed hide popped out at me straight away and I was able to sign the log and almost put it back before the others realised hehe. The last group find was on 'Cooks River Cycleway #3' (GC2226Y) in Hurlstone Park, which was nearly interrupted by the construction workers on the nearby bridge - but we managed to get in and get out without any trouble. Thanks For The Caches rinsemesocks, ziggiau and Zalgariath, respectively.
At this point, we said goodbye and departed ways, while morry9 and I continued with a couple more caches, as we made our way back to home base. With a number of unfound caches in the area, I picked one of the closest, 'Canterbury Park cache' (GC7GJAM) in Canterbury. We were able to find the cache fairly easily, and we also found a whole stack of rubbish in the park. So, I felt compelled to do another CITO and pick up as much as I could. We managed to fill up another three bags of rubbish and found two old cricket balls to go with it. So many cigarette butts and plastic ice block wrappers scattered everywhere. At least we were able to make a dent. Thanks For The Cache Lindsay z.
The last one for the day was 'pinecone' (GC6DCCB) in Summer Hill, before we called it quits and grabbed lunch in Ashfield. We had to resort to the hint and, once in the right spot, made a quick find. The co-ordinates are approximately 20-25m out and should be updated accordingly. Thanks For The Cache P.Q.R.S.

Joint [FTF] along with JordsAu, morry9, Gatherer Hade and geodog Zelda. With it still not logged last night, this intrepid group decided to meet near Tempe and make our way along the WPs.
I have cycled and walked along here many times. I even have my own cache nearby and recently an Australia Day event, but it was the first time I have taken the opportunity to learn a little about the history and geology of the Cooks River. It certainly has undergone some changes over the past 200+ years! The new drainage and riverbank structures have certainly add some aesthetic appeal to the old style methods of forming the river.
At each of the WP we noticed some very different man-made structures and different vegetation types. We gathered the necessary information to pass onto the CO. Thanks for the EC and helping us to be more aware of this area. It would be a good idea to hold a CITO event around here, as there was plenty of rubbish to collect which JordsAU managed to do as we made our way along the pathways. TFTC

The call went out last night - while I was watching Sydney FC put in another ordinary ACL performance - for this Earthcache. It was still unfound, and so four intrepid cachers, **Brewmaker**, **JordsAU**, **morry9** and myself, agreed to meet early this morning.
To be honest, I've been in all the wrong places so far this month in the quest to have a First2Find. Anyhoo...
We decided to meet at the Tempe end and work our way upstream, grabbing our answers.
Interesting that I've been to all the locations for other caches. Also interesting that those places are surprisingly different.
A lively discussion between us on those questions then ensued, which has been expertly transcribed by **Brew** and sent to the CO.
Joint *FTF*! Yaaaaaaaah us!!
After a bit of other chat and a cache or two grabbed by a few of us, we split back up and headed home. Me for some emergency dental work - the painkillers are starting to wear off... Owwwwwww! [B)]
