Walking southward from Cape Reinga to Bluff along Te Araroa, the long pathway, and I managed along the way to stop for the occasional cache. What a welcome sight the tavern at Colac is to a tramper. A cold drink and a bite to eat is a high priority, but with a cache not far from the beer garden it wasn't long before I took a moment to duck over and check this one out. At first I began scanning about at the main feature here but the compass on my phone insisted I look at a less assuming feature nearby. It didn't take long till I spotted the hide, very well played abbeykitt, it's hidden in plain sight if you have your geosenses tuned.Good fun, thanks for hiding a geocache here to show my progress on the geomap as I cross Aotearoa. Cheers.-- This log is trackable ! ---- Feel free to discover ---- Please mention, in which cache you've seen this code: ---- 3TABQX --

Had an overnight trip to Riverton with my SO for my birthday and had geocaching on my wishlist. Stopped for this one on the way from Riverton to Gemstone Beach and it eluded me. In fact, I made a right mess of myself unscrewing something I shouldn't have from a curious object at GZ that I thought looked like a good possibility, but all I found was oily greasy black liquid that I got all over my hands. Defeated and dripping, I retreated back to the car to bust out the glovebox wet-wipes for a lengthy clean up before continuing the journey to the beach. SO knew how annoyed and disappointed I was with myself that this one got the better of me and so insisted we stop for round 2 on the way back past when we were heading for home. I read through lots of logs and with renewed determination and a general idea of what I was looking for, I marched back over to GZ and very soon had cache in hand. Doh!! - I had run my fingers over this on my first visit and dismissed it as it hadn't moved when wriggled and seemed to belong! Returned to car with grin, not grime this time. Crafty hide. Tftc.

This is my fourth geocaching excursion to **beautiful New Zealand**! Big Grin
Due to Covid [xx(] I had to wait for 3 long years to again return to my beloved Middle-Earth [xx(].
This time it's again a road trip enduring for 26 days, covering both North- and South-Island. RazzCool
Arrived in the furthest South, I made an excursion to Monkey-Island and to the Clifden Bridge, to collect two more precious 'Oldies' [:X] of the South Island Big Grin.
On the way, I made some nice finds Smile.
This geo-treasure Cool contributed to the finds of today. Cool! [^]
Awesome hide Cool! Kudos [^]...
A big thanks to the owner Abbykitt [:X] for hiding and maintaining this cache [^] - and best regards from Germany SmileSmile!

We decided to head west form Invercargill today going to a few touristy spots where there are caches as well..

This was the last for the day. Nicely hidden. A fave given.

Day two of my road trip through Southland. Today's journey takes me from Invercargill back to Mosgiel. My rather indirect route goes by way of Riverton on to Tuatapere then through Winton, Mataura and Balclutha. With a final detour up to Middlemarch. Old School Challenge caches are the focus of the trip, but there's a few others to look for along the way as well. a quick find here before heading down to the each to do the Lab cache TFTC

27-Apr-22
Love the hiding! TFTC

23-Apr-22

Thanks for putting a cache here

15-Mar-22
Today was the first of only two wet days in our 4 week tour around the South Island. We had planned a day of puzzle-collecting walks in Invercargill, but easily swapped that for a rather convoluted road trip around Southland and north to Te Anau to collect the PWGT caches and solved puzzles over a wide area. We were also happy to stop for the occasional Trad at some interesting spot. TFTC

12-Mar-22
Thanks for the cache spent a day out geocaching on 26/02/22 but haven't had the chance to log on here till now

28-Feb-22

Back on the TA this time greenstone to bluff just over 300km so my last "big" section to complete..have no time restrictions so perfect opportunity to get a load of caches as I walk passed .
As you would expect the scenery is amazing after conquering the Longwood forest checking in to the camp ground clean up and some food I just had to have look for this..didnt take long once other options are eliminated have seen the same hides before..tftc

AliGle and I were doing a bit of a tour around the south of the South Island in a Jucy Camper over a few weeks. After spending the night near Invercargill, we spent day 8 doing a drive around Southland then returning to Bluff for the night, before our trip to Stewart Island tomorrow. A nice quick park and grab find of this well hidden cache. TFTC, FP added!

15-Jan-22
A quick park and grab. Lack of hint didn't stop us finding this one quickly. Coordinates were spot on.

14-Jan-22
I remember this dude last time I was here a few years ago. He looked a lot newer then. TFTC.

13-Jan-22
This is the end of day 3 of the TA NOBO for me…. A big haul from Bluff. No caches grabbed yesterday along the Oreti beach - was too difficult to get the phone out in the sandblasting winds. Today I completely forgot to look for any - but after tea at the local tavern I wandered over to GZ hoping for a QEF. And yes I picked the hide pretty quickly with (hopefully) no one watching.

Nice and tricky hide here. But had no trouble finding. TFTC
