If this cache had been in my home region, I would have left finding it for another day. However, I was unlikely to return any time soon so I was keen to at least get a bit closer to see had if I could get to the cache without the nearby muggles seeing me. As it turned out, they seemed to be far more interested in each others' company to take any notice of what was going on around them. I immediately found was I was seeking and quickly took care of the paperwork.
15 April 2022 11:14. Tooh a bit of finding as the phone GPS wandered, but spotted it in the end. TFTC
This was my first visit to this park. I liked the wide open spaces near the road and then paths going in. This was a quick find once I looked from the right angle. TFTC.
Good spot for a cache - we're always happy to find these wee guys since the log inside is always in good nick.
Nice one Sidewaze, TFTC!

This one took a little while as the coords were jumpy. Nice bit of bush to wander through while we were getting the CANZ cache.
My phone was in and out of reception... So a bit tricky to hone in on... But the hint was very helpful. Smells so good in this area. Thx.
I thought I had been here before, but it turns out I haven't, I was thinking of Brooklyn Valley near Motueka, so that's that sorted and out of the way. I enjoyed my time here, Did the loop all the way around. No worries finding this one Cheers and TFTC
This was the first cache we went looking for in this reserve. We are caching by my phone as a) this weekend was about adventure labs, so I didn't bring my gps (stupid me) and b) the batteries in the dragon's gps just went flat. So we are casting about all over the place looking for the hint item. What is with this trench? It does not look like a scoured out stream - it looks like a gold mining trench! Was there gold diggings here?
Fast forward an hour or so, and the dragon and I have walked around and found the other caches here. We did the main loop clockwise so exited the bush near this cache - may as well give it a second go. This time my phone led me straight to the cache! Yay!
Taybeedragon and are in Nelson yet again - three objectives this time. Some lab caches, a challenge cache, and hunting down the wonders of the world. With the geocaching app, the wonders are easy - each time we find a cache we removed its wonder from the filter, leaving only wonders we hadn't found yet - made for a nice fast solution.
Oh - and to find a rare cache type. So rare, that in all my 14,000 finds, I had only ever found one other. All the Wonders, labs and challenge found, now we are just doing random caches till it is time to go home.

Had tried finding this one when we first arrived. Caching via The Seagnoids phone before going back to Toby for my GPS and still wondering around trying to track this one down. Then batteries go flat. Duh. So we give up and go collect the others here. On the way out The Seagnoid zeros in on this for a quick find. Cheers
Another weekend exploring Nelson with The Seagnoid, Zara and Toby. Early start from Blenheim on Saturday. We are after The Wonders of the World, some LAB caches, also Nanzies Event to visit our caching family and visiting family in Motueka. Cold morning and beautiful days made for an awesome weekend.

I disabled my caches during Level 4 lockdown to encourage everyone to do the right thing. Now we’re moving to Level 3 I’m going to leave the decision to search for a cache or not to each individual. Remember you still need to stay in your bubble and a bit of hand sanitiser before and after handling a cache would be appropriate. Keep yourself and others safe.

Smaller than expected, I was pondering my next tree to look at when I saw it right before my eyes. TFTC Sidewaze.
Day 2 of my weekend in Nelson, and my plan was to find enough caches to get my find numbers for at least two COs over the 100 mark. Got that goal, so thanks very much SoBads and Sidewaze for all the fun and caches.

I have heard of the Eve's Valley walk but never came here, until today.
We made a lot of walks during the last weeks, showing the area to friends from overseas. Today we had less time to get out and will meet with others later for lunch. So I decided to come here and finally explore this walk, close to home.
Indeed very nice, partly closed though.

Came to eve's vally to walk the dog and noticed that their was a geocache and went and had a look and found it quite quickly.
It is so fortunate that this area of bush was spared the devastating February fires. The reserve was then closed for sometime - - - the sign said due to fire damage but I suspect fire danger had something to do with it too. The fire did get alarmingly close and when I visited today forestry gangs were working at two nearby sites, harvesting salvageable timber.
The reserve is now open and the cache is accessible.

A lovely little walkway for a hot day, SJT_NZ and I were keen for a casual wander on Sunday afternoon so explored a couple of trails we hadn't been to before. Cache was a quick find and all in good order.
This was Tregearp's and my destination for this afternoon. Nursing an injury at the moment and so only gentle walking and no extreme distances so this loop in a valley we hadn't been to before seemed a good choice - and it was. Some beautiful bush and bird life. Found all three of the traditionals in the area - all in good order. Thanks Sizewaze for the caches and brining this lovely reserve to our attention.
After our longish day yesterday it was good to get something closer to home today. Find was easier than expected and all dry underfoot, which was a bonus. Log signed and cache put back where found. tftc
I was pleased to see this cache pop up a few months back as I never tire of Eve's Valley and with a caching excuse to visit thrown in, a walk with the dog here was all the reason I needed.
Closer than I expected, although a few totara were explored before HorseGirlNZ put her hands on the cache.
With the dog going hay-wire following all the forest smells we couldn't stop long before we were off again...
Thanks

Found with StreetWalker on day one of our long weekend visit to Nelson.
It's been a while since we have been to Eves Valley, and I think the last time, we were in pursuit of some Sidewaze caches . The Oregon was most unco-operative and was leading me many metres away from where SW found the cache. At least his GPSr copes fine under tall trees.
The multi here sounds interesting, but not for us today as we suspected it would be slippery underfoot, and with only one change of outer clothing with us, we decided not to risk it. TFTC.

On Sunday I needed 2 cache finds to get me to a 4 Calendar Day and a trip to this never previously visited Reserve was decided upon as it looked like a nice wander for me and my wife. The cache was quickly found and the log signed. TFTC Sidewaze.
Out caching with pc it was getting a bit late this afternoon when we got to this cache ,it was quite wet under foot with lots of puddle around a quick easy find. Thanks for this cache Sidewaze
I felt like a drive to make a couple of finds today.
A short walk and a quick find.
The bush was still a trifle damp after all the rain yesterday and the Tui's were being very busy and raucous.
Nice to pay this patch of bush another visit.

Decided to come for another visit up to this lovely reserve while out this way this afternoon. One other family enjoying the bush down the other end so a nice quick find here. TFTC # 12,348
There's always time for 'just one more' and this flicker of green was tempting as I was in the area, sort of. Having found the others up this road in days gone by I decided a quick trip up here would be no harm, and so it was. There was a horsey-thing going on back up the road a bit, but in the field so no effect on the caching. Soon arrived at G Z and walked over to the hide site. A good hint and accurate co-ordinates had me grabbing the shiney and smiley soon after. Replaced as found and T F T C Sidewaze.
That time of the week/month so off over the 'hill' to see what delights (in a caching sense) await this visiting Marlburian cacher. It's only been a month or so since the last visit but a fair selection of new listings have popped up since last visit. Some puzzles have been solved and some Easy Peasy ones not solved, but there are always other times to try again.
We were on the road before 9 this morning, and back home at around 6 pm so a good day out. Not too many caching finds for the day, but quality rather than quantity seemed to be the order of the day. Quite poor finding stats for the trip, only 1/5 finds for the 2 hours whilst mrs shopped in the main town, better luck during their Richmond visit.

Love this area, have done many caches here in the past.
Enjoyed the walk to this one
Thank Sidewaze for the cache and bringing me back here

When we arrived at the reserve today we were met with water running in all directions so decided to abort our attempt to look for this. As we watched the compass count down while we slowly drove off we started to have second thoughts and decided to see if we could find it after all. And we did even if we were standing very close to a raging stream. With wet feet it seemed expected we also got wet from the foliage as well. Fortunately I looked from the right angle to spot this well hidden cache.
Thank you Sidewaze.
Thank you Sidewaze.
After parking at the gate we noted water, water and more water running in the direction where we thought the cache was. We decided to come back after the place had dried out a bit but noted the GPS counting down to what might well be a manageable distance. Discounting possible wet feet we decided to have a go. We found a gap in the fence and rapidly homed in on GZ. The sound of rushing water became louder and louder but close to where it meant business Holymu spoke the words. The cache was out of harm's way, phew. Thank you Sidewaze
A relatively quick find, for this area. Thanks Sidewaze. I hadn't been up here for some time so a few changes.
A family having a picnic were near when I first walked past but after my walk the coast was clear to find the safe good hide. The birds are very active today and the peace provided by the forest left me with a good positive boost.
Thanks very much!
Thanks very much!
We arrived and were heading in the direction of the cache when we had a call from another group to say that the track this way was not easily accessible. Thanked them but said we were going to see the area where the bridge had been. Which we did, after finding the cache. We thought it was crossable, but backtracked and did the main walk so we did keep dry feet. A number of vehicles in the area when we arrived - and a number of different vehicles when we left.
Thanks. Always a nice area to walk and a new cache is an ideal excuse.

A walk for Ellie, a driving lesson, and a cache find. What more could we ask for? A replacement bridge would have been nice but picking our way across the where the missing bridge and cache used to be was fun. Oh and we also found the archived cache just sitting there in the bush out of harms way. Well sort of but not as safe as this hide.
Thanks Sidewaze for the cache.
Thanks Sidewaze for the cache.
Always a good spot to go so the dog can have a good run and a swim; a nice bonus when there is a new cache to find as well. Tftc.
I took Fozzie the geodog for a walk in the reserve today and went to find the cache as well. Reserve was busier than I thought it would be but at least GZ was out of view of the other people there today. Took me a little while to zero in on the right object but it was all good in the end. Had a bit of a wander around the reserve to see where the bridge wasn't and to give Fozzie a bit of a run around too. TFTC, Biggles.
Came expecting bit more of a bush walk. So signed under the sounds of happy bird song, then went for a stroll any way.
Thanks for the cache.
Thanks for the cache.
We were just finishing dinner when we got a message from Evschnz. Next minute we were in the car on our way to pick her up and go to find this one. It was nearly dark by the time we arrived at GZ, Evschnz found the cache within a few seconds so a super quick find. Signed it and put it back out of harms way. Thanks for another smiley and a {FTF}
This is definitely out of harm. Evening caching with GKLMH so we shared the FTF. Thanks for placing this! I am sure there will be a geotrail soon.
