Today is the last day of the month and my caching stats for this month are looking abysmal, so I decided to try and find a few along my walk to the supermarket this morning. It's a beautiful sunny day after the rain that soaked me on my run yesterday, and the river was looking beautiful! This is the first cache I found today. It was indeed a quick pickup using the hint. The log is pretty wet, but I was able to sign it okay before I put it back in place.TFTC and Happy Halloween! (#2437)
Last cache for the day, and it is really raining solidly now. Had to really stretch to get the cache, almost had to climb the fence. Returned the cache more in keeping with the hint. From here I cycled to the bus station and took the bus back home. Probably made some puddles on the bus floor!---The heck with the weather forecast! I got out my raincoat and bike out and cycled to the train stop. Trains are cancelled due to the earthquake earlier today, so I caught the I'm-a-train bus to Silverstream to find a bunch of caches between there and Upper Hutt. 12 caches in all, not a bad haul. Lots of dogs walking their pets of the riverside walk/cycleway, everyone getting thoroughly drenched! (me too).--- ### LET'S HAVE A BLOCK PARTY!!! ### On May 3rd, 2025, we will be celebrating 25 years of geocaching in **Rotorua, New Zealand** with a special **Block Party** event. Join us to celebrate 25 years of this amazing game, and that the very first geocache hidden outside of the United States, 25 years ago, was hidden here in New Zealand. You do not want to miss this event, so check out the [25 Years of Geocaching NZ! Wanting to find a Micro sized container for today, and given that the weather outside was not exactly inviting me to take a stroll up in the hills, I opted to take a walk along the river bank near the Royal Wellington Golf Club this evening. At least I figured there wouldn't be many muggles. And I was certainly right about that. Very few people out and about, and I didn't need to worry about being stealthy at GZ. The find was straightforward, and I soon had my name on the logsheet, which is more than I can say of the last claimed find.Otherwise all good here, and everything was replaced as found. Thanks for setting this whole series up.
Log was a little wet but was still able to scribble on it.Missed it the first few times but was in the obvious spot in the end (nothing really matters)
My employer required me to attend a course on this side of the strait. So, even before I had planned flights or accommodation, I sussed out a heap of caches that I would pass near, or could get out to, after hours, in darkness.
After day three, and some dinner, I rugged up with several layers, grabbed several lighting options and took a wander round the streets and the HRT in a 5 hour, 15 km loop.
Easy find here at the obvious.

(stopped right along side. No need to use GPS!)
I was on a bike ride up one side of the river and back down the other. This was my first stop on my way back down. My GPSr beeped, I stopped, and there was the hiding spot, right in the obvious place. TFTC!

Exactly where I expected it to be, had to dodge bikers and hikers to actually sign it though. Tftc!
Out with my sister walking Buddy, my niece’s pooch
Over from South Australia, I haven’t been caching for a long time but thought I might as have a quick look along the route.
With the help of the hint, this was a quick find.
Being unprepared I didn’t have a writing utensil.
There was a bit of water in the outer container but the inner one seemed fine.

Travelling down to Wellington for a few days. Stopped in Trentham Memorial Park for lunch and a few caches. Both us and the geohound needed to stretch our legs. Then a cycle down by the river added to the smileys for today. Cache here was all safe and sound. TFTC
Quick easy find exactly where coordinates are log book is wet lost our pen found with Satan's Spawn
Early morning cache hunt to mark 22222.
Super clear description, easy to find....... and hopefully out of the way enough that it's not a doggy 'pee-email' post. Managed a quick grab and sign in between early morning exercisers. TFTC

A quick easy find with the nice hint. We replaced the sodden log with a small waterproof sheet. TFTC
Simple find with a great view upstream. Log is quite wet after recent weather though. Tftc
In Petone for a ten pin bowling tournament. An evening bike ride along the river bank after doing a adventure lab and some caches in Rivendell area. All good here. Thanks GLAD-NZ for the cache.
Unfortunately log was absolutely saturated so we replaced log with new, clean, dry one.
Now lockdown has eased but there is still nowhere to go there are a lot of people about. Luckily we fluked gaps in the muggles as we biked the trail today.
Out for a morning caching walk. Loads of cyclists today but all was clear when I approached this cache. Nice quick find and back on my way. Thanks for the hide
Quick and easy find on a lovely day walking from Silverstream northwards. Did with MycroMan, Ezratar and the Fairy half. Thanks for the cache.
A lovely afternoon for strolling along the river. Log soaking wet and very hard to sign. TFTC
grabbed as part of the Murder at the museum series tftc.
(The logbook was soaked, we had trouble logging it.)

I've just realised that I forgot to log this. Last find of an enjoyable stroll along the riverbank, and also the last cache for me to find along the river in total. All good here. TFTC
Although there were closer places to park, I decided to make this into a reasonably lengthy walk. There were plenty of other trail users this afternoon but my arrival at ground zero perfectly fitted in between the passing of two cyclists. I would have thought the double container set up would have protected the logsheet but it was very wet.
One of 18 caches located today on an enjoyable bike ride along the Hutt River trail (mostly) from Upper Hutt to Pomare Station. Very quick find which was good because the last ‘survey’ cache certainly wasn’t! #2499. TFTC.
Nice cache! Loved the hint, wondered what on eathe it meant until I saw... ahhh I see!! Straight forward kind of cache - have a favourite point
Lost my pen somewhere along the track so photo of log book instead.

After 'Stroll n GLAD #12' we were expecting to find #13, but instead there was a big gap before #14 hove in sight. I guess it has been archived. Anyway, I went straight to the right spot thanks to the hint and the cache was instantly in hand. Once again no muggles around at any point while we found and replaced this cache either. Thanks for another cache GLAD-NZ.
Furtherest away cache today from where I parked at 1370m. My turnaround point. Nice quick find. Glad for the Stroll.
Has been hot the last few days and a break in the weather finnaly came so decided to stretch the legs and do a trail Lots of neat hides along this trail. Geat hint found quickly
Well the weekend was nearing by and I was wondering what I could get up to then a fellow geocacher contacted me asking if I wanted to go biking this weekend and with the family away why not I thought so Friday came around got sorted for the Saturday adventure then set off early Saturday morning reaching The Upper Hutt area around 9am we had a cuppa or two or three hen though we better stop chatting and get a move on, we set off to do a trail but while doing that make sure we also get the odd ones in between and a bit out and about as we go, as ya know when caching time ticks away rather fast so we needed to keep an eye on the time as I still had to return home sometime today., lucky for daylight savings and great weather on our side today. What a lovely area to cache in we last came here with the Mega on, so only 3 months ago but never got too much time for biking trails, the weekend went so fast but most enjoyable. It wasn't long before we had our first cache in hand then second third and so on, we signed the logs and placed the caches back exactly where we found them, a few muggles today but no one seemed to be worried about what we were up, was caching with 2 Bulbars today. caches were good no DNFs so far it was a nice quick find. better get on our way to the next cache then get a bit cleaned up have a drink and a bite to eat then start to get ready to head for home all in all a great day great company. Thank you so much for taking the time to place a cache here and give us yet another adventurous day out. Dropped nothing signed log, took nothing
Sorry about the copy and paste I usually try and do individual write ups. TFTC

# 1243 Another work day and another bike ride. Windier today than it was yesterday but still a sweet sweet ride along the river. Im slowly running out of these caches that are on the way home but it definitely helps me keep my streak alive, something like 102 now . I am glad for that. Thanks Glad nz, all good here.
Find #2904. A 44km round trip from Silverstream bridge to Birchville, on the bike, collecting random caches as they appeared on the gps.

On a mission to grab the caches needed to reach 365 for the year, 15 to go...took the river trail down past moonshine park tonight. The clue says it all. TFTC
and another ones gone. time to change course into the park will get the bike out to tackle the rest. tftc.
Bit of a famiily catch up day to day, but time for a few caches. ManyThanks Bitsprayer.
There was another ‘survey’ clue further up the river. That was a DNF for us, no problems here though. Quick find for Capperz. TFTC.
Mega Saturday, and Capperz and I have a few goals for the day. All lab caches to solve, plenty of events targeted to get to, and the most different types in a day for me. Add in that a bit of pathtag swapping (finally!), and it was pretty successful.
First mega for me, and loved the experience. Kept bumping into a few familiar faces on our travels and met a few new ones as well. We also didn’t embarrass ourselves at the quiz later on in the evening. Thanks to all COs, especially those keeping maintenance up on their caches especially for the event.

Back on the bike trail again now and same as earlier we got into a good successful routine;
Pedal - Stop - Find- Sign - Replace - Repeat.
Day 1 of the actual MEGA. It's the Saturday and both ricardinho.nz and I were awake early in our respective accommodations and keen as can be to getcon the trail nice and early. We were in the car before 0700 and breakfast at Maccas got us underway prior to a real busy day. We had a River Hutt-side cycle, the events and registration at Cossie Club earlyish before racing off to get all the details required for the Lab caches, attend a few associated events, another bike-ride along the nice and flat Hutt river-side. Finally there was a Flashmob before a 'few more' then the Geo-quiz where the upper South did nicely in a podium position - PHEW! What a day!!
The big day(s) has/have arrived. It's MEGA weekend in Wellington region and the culmination of lots of hard work by the organising committee. Also, not to be forgotten, are the caches of the local, and not so local COs, which help the game to continue and enable the enjoyment of others.
The trip has been planned for a while now and the Blenheim contingent of Ricardinho.nz and myself are coming over early on Friday morning on the Bluebridge ferry (after an early morning (non-) 'event') before returning on same mode of transport on Monday lunchtime.
We didn't manage much caching on the Friday but made up for that with 3 good days after and over 100 finds for the weekend to boost my Wellington region finds past my Nelson region ones and even giving my previously prolific Auckland numbers a 'nudge'.
Over the weekend there was plenty of socialising, sharing of ideas, opinions and interesting conversations and a podium spot for the Geosaders quiz team. Allied up with some new caching friends and remet several other rarely seen friends from other areas of the country. A good weekend all around and even the weather played nicely with a sunny outlook each of the days, without it being too warm and uncomfortable. Plenty of events attended, pleasant walks experienced, a couple of bike rides along the Hutt River as well as a smattering of GROET caches for which we were GLAD.
Thanks to all of the cache owners for their hides and listings and looking forward to the next time I visit the area to continue the enjoyment.

Team BOP have descended upon the Wellington region for the 2018 WENZ MEGA. We have a lot of caches to get through so there isn’t a lot of down time but it's great to meet the locals, CO’s and fellow cachers. My online logs are largely cut’n’pasted because my memory has started to blur many of my finds together so apologies for that. We’ve signed logs as ‘TeamBOP’ or individually depending on log space and time. Lastly a big Thank You to the Team - TNXPro, Davidsonclan, McJandals, NZFlossy, FapandGap & Squirrel Nutcase and to all the CO’s that made this a memorable trip
Attending the Wellington MEGA, great to visit here from the sunny Bay of Plenty, these finds have been found with my team members, which include myself, NZ Flossy, Davidson Clan, Squirrel Nutcase, FapandGap, TNXPRO and Philip.Perry and signed Team BOP. (To save room on logs) We are having a blast and gathering lots of smileys along the way. Please excuse generic logs in advance. (as I have saved the template using Cachly) Many Thanks to all you cache owners for the placements. Cheers
No trouble find this one thanks to the hint - seem to be a lot of there objects along the trail.
Found on a ride up the River Trail on a fine and warm late winters day. The trail is a huge community asset and it was great to see the number of walkers and cyclist even on a work day. Well done WRC. And many thanks for the cache placers, a real bonus. to a few hours exercise. TFTC
I was in Upper Hutt for a road running competition and thought I might find a few geocaches as a warm up, I had looked at the hint before approaching GZ and so I knew where it was when I got there, instantly found, thanks.
Out for a bike (electric) ride for geocaching and fresh air on a sunny winter's Tuesday afternoon. Accidently put cache in my bag when I left, so returned it an hour later on the way home.
All good here.
