Did not have the right shoes to hunt round in the thorns for this one. Will try again another day.
Travelling down to Wellington for a few days. Stopped in Trentham Memorial Park for lunch and a few caches. Both us and the geohound needed to stretch our legs. Then a cycle down by the river added to the smileys for today. Sadly this one wasn’t to be found today, but there’s always a next time!
1449. 7:29 pm. I didn't need too have been as prepared as I thought. cache apparatus has been dislodged. I found the log hard to sign but did leave a mostly recognisable scribble. Got one big scratch from the brambles but enjoyed a berry or three. TFT(once a gadget)C.
Nice and easy find with KTG. Hiding spot has been damaged so the cache was soaking wet. Have dried it off and replaced carefully to stop water getting in. TFTC
We usually enjoy this type of cache, and went prepared, but as others have said, the cache is no longer operational, and is just a simple find, not enhanced by the blackberry in the area. TFTC
Out and about again this evening with the Seagnoid, making the most of the fact that it wasn't pissing it down with rain! In fact it was quite a pleasant evening. A little overcast, but not cold and no wind to speak of.
This was a cache where getting to GZ was harder than accessing the cache. As other have mentioned, the set up needs some work if it's going to work the way it was originally set up to. Until then there is no challenge in being able to get your name on the log, which was done before returning the cache back as found.
Thanks for setting up this cache.

Good find, might need a service soon as log is a bit damp and the device is no longer secured upright… cheers!
Has become detached so gravity is the only tool now required. Replaced how found it but could do with reattaching for longevity . Tftc
Should have trusted my caching sense. Came back to the first spot after a thorough search of the area. Log bag dried; cache log replaced. All as it should be! TFTC

Log is wet and unusable. Used a small piece of paper found in a pocket to log mine. Nice cache though. TFTC
Quick and easy find on a lovely day walking from Silverstream northwards. Did with MycroMan, Ezratar and the Fairy half. Thanks for the cache.
I could have cheated here as the cache can be easily accessed by another method. Maybe the cache owner needs to call by with a mallet?
Anyway, I wanted to claim this find by going about the process in the correct way. It seemed simple enough to begin with but then a nail got in the way and my fingers weren't tiny enough to extract the container. I didn't know if I had enough resource to drop the container and start again so I was pleased to see things didn't disappear as quickly as they do in some similar set ups. The nail issue did not re-present itself and I soon had the container in hand. The next problem was trying to open the smaller bag with my fat fingers; I managed to do this without breaking the bag as I feared I might. I cannot think of any other possible use for a bag of that size. TFTC, GLAD-NZ.

# 1540 I have been meaning to get this one for a long time as it is on my bike route home, but I never seem to have the required component on me. Today I made special trip under the cover of darkness, which was quite surreal due to the excessive floodlights from the driving range. Happy to easily find gz in the dark and stopped to have a big drink. Cant help but comment on the size of the snap lock bag. I have never in all my time seen one that small. It was very cute. Cheers GLAD-NZ all good here today.
Nice quick find and retrieval. Couldn't make a mark as log too soggy. Not unexpected given cache type!

Quite a distance since 'Stroll n GLAD #14', but we'd found some caches by trails trails rails in the interim. This was the first today that required some 'cross-country' work: glad we had our hiking boots on as the grass was very wet after the recent rain. I found a path to GZ through/over what could end up being an insurmountable blackberry patch in a year or so, but is only just getting going at the moment: there does seem to be a lot of blackberry along the Hutt River. Once the cache was in view the description and hint made perfect sense.
We actually saw muggles while we were at GZ, one cycling, the other walking a dog, but most of the time there was nobody about. It didn't take us very long to have the cache in hand, but it was very wet inside the container. After emptying the water I dried the log scroll as best I could, but it really needs some time in the sun or by a heater to do the job properly. It won't have helped that, by this time in its life, what would usually have been a zip-lock plastic bag, holding the log, had been converted by someone into a folded up piece of a flimsy single-use shopping bag that was wrapped inefectually around the log! Fat lot of good THAT was doing. I removed the offending plastic and replaced it with a small zip-lock bag from my caching kit, which should help keep water out a bit better.
Having said all that, my pen was still able to write on the log easily for the signing ceremony, so it isn't too bad. Thanks for a nice departure from the norm with this one GLAD-NZ.

My 9th and penultimate cache for this loop today. And it's my first non-Trails Trails Trails find! I initially walked right past it, and only saw the out-of-place object when I looked back. I had read the hint so I knew what was expected, and managed to retrieve it nice and quickly. As the previous finder notes it is quite wet but I still managed to sign the log. TFTC.
Have seen a few of this type, always fun - The log here was pretty damp, did m best to dry it out and was able to sign it. TFTC.
Well the weekend was nearing by and I was wondering what I could get up to then a fellow geocacher contacted me asking if I wanted to go biking this weekend and with the family away why not I thought so Friday came around got sorted for the Saturday adventure then set off early Saturday morning reaching The Upper Hutt area around 9am we had a cuppa or two or three hen though we better stop chatting and get a move on, we set off to do a trail but while doing that make sure we also get the odd ones in between and a bit out and about as we go, as ya know when caching time ticks away rather fast so we needed to keep an eye on the time as I still had to return home sometime today., lucky for daylight savings and great weather on our side today. What a lovely area to cache in we last came here with the Mega on, so only 3 months ago but never got too much time for biking trails, the weekend went so fast but most enjoyable. It wasn't long before we had our first cache in hand then second third and so on, we signed the logs and placed the caches back exactly where we found them, a few muggles today but no one seemed to be worried about what we were up, was caching with 2 Bulbars today. caches were good no DNFs so far it was a nice quick find. better get on our way to the next cache then get a bit cleaned up have a drink and a bite to eat then start to get ready to head for home all in all a great day great company. Thank you so much for taking the time to place a cache here and give us yet another adventurous day out. Dropped nothing signed log, took nothing

For a long time we have wanted to get some smiley faces along this bike trail and these few days off in the camper were the very excuse we needed to do them. The ride was very enjoyable and very easy with just a little breeze. It was great to see such an array of different hides and to see some of the country side from a different angle. All hides appeared to be in good condition and the co ords were usually spot on
Many thanks for bringing us to this area

Find #2900. A 44km round trip from Silverstream bridge to Birchville, on the bike, collecting random caches as they appeared on the gps.
Love these types of caches. As I was nearing the end of my journey, I drank the last water in my bottle and refilled from the river. Had to be quick to plug the hole but still achieved success with about 600ml. Waterproof paper would be a good idea for this one - the current log is a bit damp. FP from me. SL TFTC

On a mission to grab the caches needed to reach 365 for the year, 15 to go...took the river trail down past moonshine park tonight. We were a bit worried we didn't have the necessary vessel, but we were able to improvise.TFTC
When deciding which cache to go for tonight I saw that this one wasn't too far away from a parking spot, and an interesting amount of favourite points. I made sure I was prepared before I set out and made my way to the GZ. The nature of the cache was straightforward and I soon had the cache in hand. Signed the log and replaced, then headed back to my car. All good here. TFTC+FP
After making three frustrating trips back & forth from the river refilling my bottle I struck the goods to great relief haha, TFTC
Got a call from a local Cacher that log soaked so replaced with a new one today. Enjoy.
i have a week off so some walking and caching sounds like a good idea and Dobby agrees
lucky that sustenance is required while out walking tftc.

Jess.daphne and I took to the streets of Wellington to find some caches after the mega event and this was one of them. Tftc from team Jeje.
Found with Injeanious as we explored the area during the Mega weekend. We walked out here not realising that we needed a tool, luckily with a bit of foraging we came up with something to complete the job. TFTC!
Down in the Capital for an extra long weekend before exams start, with Jag50, Merlot58 & Bertie Blowfish. We walked around this lovely trail by the river. Thankfully I had brought my pack and a helpful tool to extract the cache.

With a group of fellow west Aucklanders Merlot58, Aiden29 and Bertie Blowfish To attend the MEGA and for a fun long Labour weekend’s caching. Thanks to all the cache owners for setting up and maintaining the caches. Sorry for cut and paste logs. Didn’t get wet extracting this log.
I’m in the Windy City to attend the Wellington Mega with a few fellow Westies from Auckland. We’re having a great time as we explore the area collecting smileys as we go. Thanks for bringing us here, sorry for the copy and paste logs but am using a Cachly template to log as I go. Had the appropriate TOTT so quick find
Finally caching up on logs been overseas. Enjoyed our caching during the Mega. TFTC
Found while enjoying our caching around the area. Enjoyed the difference here. Fav point from me. Signed as Taniwha8 - caching with Dodge1923, Remaker13, Riser5, Daffy NZ. Thanks for the cache
Some helpful caches told is this one read worth the walk. They were right. A favorite from me. Tftc. Logged as taniwha8
A field puzzle, and while we had made good progress down the cache-laden side of the river, we had to take stock of the situation before deciding to empty our bottles in this. Yep, not many on the other side, let’s do it. So cache retrieved and returned, thanks for the cool cache. FP from me.
Mega Saturday, and Capperz and I have a few goals for the day. All lab caches to solve, plenty of events targeted to get to, and the most different types in a day for me. Add in that a bit of pathtag swapping (finally!), and it was pretty successful.
First mega for me, and loved the experience. Kept bumping into a few familiar faces on our travels and met a few new ones as well. We also didn’t embarrass ourselves at the quiz later on in the evening. Thanks to all COs, especially those keeping maintenance up on their caches especially for the event.

A good hide here and luckily we had sufficient left to enable a find. T F T C GLAD-NZ
Back on the bike trail again now and same as earlier we got into a good successful routine;
Pedal - Stop - Find- Sign - Replace - Repeat.
Day 1 of the actual MEGA. It's the Saturday and both ricardinho.nz and I were awake early in our respective accommodations and keen as can be to getcon the trail nice and early. We were in the car before 0700 and breakfast at Maccas got us underway prior to a real busy day. We had a River Hutt-side cycle, the events and registration at Cossie Club earlyish before racing off to get all the details required for the Lab caches, attend a few associated events, another bike-ride along the nice and flat Hutt river-side. Finally there was a Flashmob before a 'few more' then the Geo-quiz where the upper South did nicely in a podium position - PHEW! What a day!!
The big day(s) has/have arrived. It's MEGA weekend in Wellington region and the culmination of lots of hard work by the organising committee. Also, not to be forgotten, are the caches of the local, and not so local COs, which help the game to continue and enable the enjoyment of others.
The trip has been planned for a while now and the Blenheim contingent of Ricardinho.nz and myself are coming over early on Friday morning on the Bluebridge ferry (after an early morning (non-) 'event') before returning on same mode of transport on Monday lunchtime.
We didn't manage much caching on the Friday but made up for that with 3 good days after and over 100 finds for the weekend to boost my Wellington region finds past my Nelson region ones and even giving my previously prolific Auckland numbers a 'nudge'.
Over the weekend there was plenty of socialising, sharing of ideas, opinions and interesting conversations and a podium spot for the Geosaders quiz team. Allied up with some new caching friends and remet several other rarely seen friends from other areas of the country. A good weekend all around and even the weather played nicely with a sunny outlook each of the days, without it being too warm and uncomfortable. Plenty of events attended, pleasant walks experienced, a couple of bike rides along the Hutt River as well as a smattering of GROET caches for which we were GLAD.
Thanks to all of the cache owners for their hides and listings and looking forward to the next time I visit the area to continue the enjoyment.

As we approached and read the hint we were annoyed that we didn’t have anything with us to use as a tott. Hunted for rubbish but saw nothing suitable. Then i remembered the poo bag for geo-dog (un-used). By the time i was back at gz well-equipped, thescoobydoos had already managed to extract the cache by other means. Damn! Oh well, still fun and geo dog got to cool off. Tftc
Found one like this before so knew what to expect. Although other methods would gave worked...
It's finally Mega weekend!

Team BOP have descended upon the Wellington region for the 2018 WENZ MEGA. We have a lot of caches to get through so there isn’t a lot of down time but it's great to meet the locals, CO’s and fellow cachers. My online logs are largely cut’n’pasted because my memory has started to blur many of my finds together so apologies for that. We’ve signed logs as ‘TeamBOP’ or individually depending on log space and time. Lastly a big Thank You to the Team - TNXPro, Davidsonclan, McJandals, NZFlossy, FapandGap & Squirrel Nutcase and to all the CO’s that made this a memorable trip
In Wellington for Mega with others from the Bay of Plenty.
Signed log Team BOP to save room. The team consists of my self Tnxpro , Philip.Perry and McJandals.
