And so it came to pass that, under the light of the waxing gibbous moon, QueenK8 did complete the Challenge that is Finding a Geocache Hidden on Each Calendar Day of the Year. This evening's adventures began with Joolay's "Good/Bay N.E.W.S." cache, for which QueenK8 did qualify. There followed Tankengine's "Jinninderra Jetty", a cache surprisingly devoid of blackberry bushes for one hidden by this CO. Google Maps had initially taken QueenK8 to a nearby peninsula and suggested that the quickest way to GZ was to walk across the water. Despite her manifold talents, this is not one that QueenK8 possesses.A drive south took QueenK8 to Yooitsjoshua's "Rest Area" cache. Upon requesting assistance from the previous finder, Mr T Hunter, the cache manifested itself in the very next area that QueenK8 looked, negating the need for assistance. No circuit of the nation's capital is complete without a visit to the Waterfront of Wonders. It was here that QueenK8 found the AL x 3 Bonus cache "Reconciliation Walk" in a most clever contraption contrived by Loci612 and isopeda. It was most fortunate that the minions kept away for the safe recovery and rehide of said contraption. QueenK8 celebrated the occasion by walking back along the Reconciliation Walk playing "From Little Things, Big Things Grow" by that most outstanding musical artist, Paul Kelly. The final find of the five to complete the Challenge was Search 4's virtual cache, "A Gift from Canada". This stellar piece of artwork was a fitting way to complete this challenge. Photographs were taken, including one of the five trackables that accompany QueenK8 at this stage of her travels. The occasion was marked with a gelato in the city, surrounded by voices and lights that echoed and mirrored the heavens.Blessings and gratitude be poured down upon all COs who have hidden and maintained geocaches throughout the nation and her capital.
Find # 1272814/9/2024 Met up with Stinjali for a cycle around Lake G after our initial plans to do a section of the Centennial Trail were aborted due to a lack of planning. Also not convinced that Stinjalis was up for a cross trek. And so a loop of LG was the default option. We managed a super quick loop in <30mins, and when I suggested another lap this time to pick up some caches, seemed like a good idea.Only one DNF, and it turns out that was because my coords were out All finds very straightforward here today, and caches in good condition. Thanks Tankengine for Jinninderra Jetty
Found a zip tie that I'm assuming was the home of the cache but couldn't find any bison
DNF. Had a solid look around but were unsuccessful. However, if it was attached to the jetty with a blue zip tie, it may just be gone :/
Gee whiz I made that a lot harder than it needed to be! Got a pretty good look of the underside of the jetty until I had that oh, there it is moment.Great view over to Belco from here! Another hidden little gemthanks!
Oh this was our 'quiet' time today in between MEGA catch upswe decided to walk barefoot on the grass, and do a bit of earthing on the way to this cache. The pic has the wonderful views and Buckoraider attempting the find.I dont have a picture of him actually retrieving it, because he ended up needing me to hold his feet while he tried to look for the cache. His little skinny legs were not heavy enough to keep him on the Jetty!
Out caching on a beautifully warm Sunday afternoon around the lake. We had to wait for some muggles to leave the area, but after a little while they finally moved on. Love the cache.
Had a laugh as this one pretty much hit Jennyfromthefarm face on first look. Great hide. TFTC.
Found this one OCW cherryfromtheblock on a beautiful Friday afternoon after work. A quick find here today.
We decided to try our luck with the scooters and rented a couple to zoom around the lake going from traditional to traditional while trying to figure out how the scooter, the app and the no ride zones worked.
Ended up in a no ride zone that we had been able to ride quite a way into and had to push the scooters out but all in all a very enjoyable afternoon.

TFTC. Out for a wander on ANZAC Day, so I thought it would be a good chance to bag a few caches. Found it quicker then I expected.
Decided to check on this, and replaced the log while I was here. All was fine. Old logsheet attached.
GOOD TO GO!!!

No joy for the tribe here. Had a good look. Sure its there. Just too good for us.
Lovely spot for some afternoon sunbaking though!

Found on a big day of walkin'! Was expecting a long search but thankfully found it within a minute or so. What a stunning walk and a stunning location to sit whilst signing the log. The new buildings look so cool, makes me want to live there one day (with enough luck). TFTC TE!
Have had this cache on my radar for a while because it fills a hole in my hidden cache calendar. Once I was at GZ it took a bit of looking to locate the cache. Thanks Tankengine
With a public holiday on hand and two caching events in Canberra, I made the trip over to attend them. It was great fun to be able to have events for those left behind because most people headed over to… you didn’t know that there is an Easter Mega in Townsville, well now you do. These events fitted in perfectly with what I had planned for the long weekend. Now time to attend the events and find some caches. I was the first to arrive for the first event (even before the CO). Yummy food and great times was had by all, including two new people to Geocaching who we met for the first time today. Afterwards AKM and I headed off to do some caching between the events, including an earth cache which we had been wanting to find for quite some time. Next, it was time for the CITO. We cleaned up the area around the event and one odd find was a ‘LJ Hooker Poster’ laying on the ground. Afterwards, AKM and I headed off for some more finds before heading our separate ways. The second last cache I found today turned a into a . TB visit on all found caches. I would like to thank all CO’s of the caches I found & events I attended today and for allowing them to bring me and the caching community enjoyment. TFTC’s and TFTE’s
After my forth attempt at this one, I can finally say: I HAVE FOUND IT! This was a nasty cache to find. This time I had AKM with me who had found in the past and after some mind joggling, we eventually came up with the find. I'm glad that this one is now with a on it.

No matter how many bison tubes we find, extracting the log never seems to get any easier. We are glad to have this one ticked off, as the music from lighthouse plays across the water on an otherwise quiet Thursday. TFTC
Not too hard! First find by the geo fam and the first time geocacher my husband was the one to find!! Good little cache
This one took me 3 tries but this time I found it in less than a minute! TFTC
Lovely walk around Lake Ginninderra today, exploring and finding caches along the way. This was one of them, sneaky spot, but we found it and signed our names on the new log sheet. TFTC
Logsheet was wet - so replaced with a fresh one! Old log sheet attached! GOOD TO GO!!!
I had to abort my previous attempt at this cache due to muggle fisherpeople right at GZ. Today, after a pleasant morning paddle to another cache on Lake G, the younger GeoTeen and I chose a waterborne access to this cache which was mercifully bereft of people.
I needed to disembark my watercraft to hunt for the container, which was located in an obvious spot, after a brief search. Log has obviously been a bit wet - looks like the o-ring is missing from the container - but was able to be signed without issue today.
Thanks, Tankengine!

Out with 3Kings to stroll around this lake - in the rain, on an e-Scooter ... what fun. Grabbed this one as we were passing by - quickly found once at the right angle.
Thanks Tankengine for entertaining me at this location.

Taking advantage of a picture postcard day, me and IamCoust decided to pick up caches on lake ginninderra, some newly minted, and others that I had not found.
Lucky for me this was a pier, so I was able to disembark from the kayak, and find cache. Tftc

Quick search yielded results. I took some time just to sit and admire my surrounds here. It is lovely and peaceful here this morning.

Found at last - certainly had me searching for a while but eventually spotted the telltale sign of a cache. Tftc
2nd attempt yielded better results.
Coords reasonably out, sent me in the wrong direction.
What an adventure. Found it, and had a great time.
The robot clicked disapprovingly, gurgled briefly inside its cubical interior and extruded a pony glass of brownish liquid. "Sir, you will undoubtedly end up in a drunkard's grave, dead of hepatic cirrhosis," it informed me virtuously as it returned my ID card. I glared as I pushed the glass across the table.
He heard the loud impact before he ever saw the result. It had been so loud that it had actually made him jump back in his seat. As soon as he recovered from the surprise, he saw the crack in the windshield. It seemed to be an analogy of the current condition of his life.
She asked the question even though she didn't really want to hear the answer. It was a no-win situation since she already knew. If he told the truth, she'd get confirmation of her worst fears. If he lied, she'd know that he wasn't who she thought he was which would be almost as bad. Yet she asked the question anyway and waited for his answer.
Spending time at national parks can be an exciting adventure, but this wasn't the type of excitement she was hoping to experience. As she contemplated the situation she found herself in, she knew she'd gotten herself in a little more than she bargained for. It wasn't often that she found herself in a tree staring down at a pack of wolves that were looking to make her their next meal.
Needing a daily find I initially thought that the nearby dog leash free area would be a good option on a damp afternoon. Alas the crazy dog people were out in abundance despite the wet weather. Personal Note: Next time be a crazy dog person and bring along my dog!
Moved on to this cache and was luckier this time having the jetty well and truly to myself. Cache found on the second lie down avoiding damp dung spots. Logged and returned then back to the car before any further rain appears.
Thanks Tankengine for placing this cache.

Out with LuckyL10n cycling around the lake and grabbing the nearby GeoArt series...and of course we stopped for a few other caches along the way. Took a few minutes to spot this one, but all was good and eventually the cache was in hand. Cache is all good.
Thanks TE.....nicely done again.

#11271 - 10:55:00 AM; A plan was hatched a few days ago with Sol de lune to undertake a mission to collect the GCA GeoArt caches around Lake Ginninderra. While they were the main focus of the day, we picked up a few others as we were passing, including this one, which had us laying down on the job checking a few options before Sdl came up with the goods. A DNF on this one
With the weekend off from work and my other plans didn't happen, I decided on heading to Canberra for the first half of the long weekend. I arrived on the Thursday afternoon and settled into my motel room and apart from getting dinner, (Domino's) I really just rested. This is because I had been up since 1:30am that morning for work and I decided that was the best thing to do. Friday morning, I headed off to visit some friends at the Tuggeranong Lutheran Church for the 'Good Friday' service. I decided on leaving early so I could do the walk around Jerrabomberra Wetlands to do the Lab and find the caches around it. Unfortunately, I had a DNF plus I didn't have time to get the AL bonus. I headed off to Church and it was a great service. I caught up with many friends and I was even invited out for lunch which meant I had even more time to catch up. It was a great lunch and we even played a card game which is like 'Phase 10'. It was time to leave and that is when I decided on find the bonus of the lab. This was a nice quick find before I headed back to my motel. I also logged a 'GCA Locationless Event' and now time for dinner. After dinner I logged some GCA Locationless Caches to fill in time. After a great night sleep, it was time to pack up and head off. My first stop was to collect the next answer in the ‘Looking at Canberra’ AL plus a few other nearby caches. One of which was the cache Henry Rolland. This was an evil hide due to the location but thankfully no one was paying attention and I made the find. Afterwards, I headed to Belconnen Mall for lunch and maybe some shopping. I walked around but didn’t buy anything except lunch. Next, I headed off to the Lake Ginninderra Dog Park to find some of the new GCA GeoArt caches. Time to head home and I decided on heading through Young to pick up the new cache there. A FTF on that one ! A great couple of days away and I look forward to my next geocaching day/weekend. TB visit on all caches. I would like to thank all CO's of the caches I found for allowing them to bring me and the rest of the Geocaching community enjoyment. TFTC's

After a rush weekend home, it's back to Canberra to catch up on the caches I missed.

Out with RoddyC/Hatzofff to find some caches today. This one took a while as it was hot work searching. Signed the log and returned to where I found it. Thanks Tankengine. All good with this cache.
Out today to get catch some caches on our 5th day in Canberra with RoddyC and Team Benders.
Today's mission was to do at least one of the oldies. We got side tracked.

Found quickly during a walk around the lake. Cache in great condition but log book full. TFTC
A nice simple little cache to mark a nice simple little area of Belco. Pretty views! Thanks (p.s. Log full, didn't have any spares on me sorry)
Easier than I anticipated, almost gave up but eventually found it

Took a little while to find this one and the wind was freezing. But we found it another one ticked off TFTC
I rarely venture to Belconnen, but I have just one date required to complete my day hidden calendar - and this cache ticks the empty box! So, this afternoon I made my way to the northern end of Lake G, parked up and wandered along the path to find a deserted jetty, and a minute or so later a cache. I had been prepared to spend some time searching so a speedy find was quite unexpected.

F(H)ound It! #3730 @ 1:00 PM
Today the Ridgeopup and I went for a big walk around the Lake of Gin chasing a venerable multi and picking up a few others on the way.
I did a systematic search while the RP fidgeted and worried about the storm clouds rolling in. There is nothing for it, if we are going to get wet we are going to. The car is on the other side of the lake, I think I can see it from here, but it is a long walk away. Came up with the cache, the RP is nagging me to get a wriggle on but I needed to take care that I don't drop the log (or any of my possessions) into the drink.
As it eventuated we did get a sleety shower, but not enough to wet our clothes, but that didn't stop the hound from complaining.
Thanks Tankengine

This one has been illusive when I have looked previously. Tonight it was spotted immediately - I guess I just haven't looked in exactly the right spot before. TFTC tankengine
Our second geocache of the day! We’re new to geocaching as it’s become our social distancing hobby so it was very cool to see the clever little cache!!!
Nice cache. On a bike ride along the lake so we stopped to do this one. Quick look and I had it.

Visiting Canberra for the week and a friend brought me out here to walk her dog. Not always a fan of these small-caches-that-could-be-anywhere type but trusted my geosenses and came up with the find.

A bit too tricky, got pretty muddy trying to find it, might go back when it’s drier.
Got to the jetty and we spanned out to check under. I eventually spotted and all I really needed to do was get down on my knees. Well secured. TFTC

Completing day two of our Scout Bike Hike (and now that one of my Scouts has signed up - Cinderspots2001 there was two of us to log) and this was a morning tea break so we have several sets of eyes looking, with the cache soon found. TFTC
With the intense heat of the day fading, it was a lovely time for a refreshing geocaching walk beside Lake Ginninderra. Four caches duly found.
Having had a quick scan of the logs to make sure this one was still in place, I wasn't feeling terribly confident. Phone torch in hand (it now being rather dark) I began my search where the GPS was pointing and where seemed likely for this CO. Nothing there, so I moved a bit and tried again. Still nothing but as I was turning to maneouvre into a different position I found myself staring straight at the cache. That was easy!
The only part that was not so easy was getting rid of all the little ants that were now biting me as I signed and returned the log. Oh well, part of the joys. A few minutes to grab some photos of the lights across the water and I was done and dusted (there being plenty of it in the air tonight). TFTC

Nice spot down here and probably due to the wind, had the place to myself. Of course I checked all over the end of the jetty before finally spotting the cache. At least this one was clean! (The jetty and the cache!)
Thanks,
Thanks,
I was nearby driving heading home on my bike on this windy day, thought I give it another try.
Maybe the wind help, I found it in under a minute this time. But almost missed it again. A simple yet very tricky hide as it turns out. Very happy to have this as cache as my closest to home by the CO found now.
Thank you Tankengine for putting the cache out and maintaining it.

I thought I'd grab a cache or two while I was out for a Sunday morning walk, but alas, it wasn't to be.
We did find a couple of cable ties that could have marked where the cache was, but there was no cache to be found.
This may indicate that the cache is MIA (or that I'm not very good at this, and was looking in the wrong place), but it might be worth a check.

Another great day caching in Canberra, the weather was a bit ordinary but that didn't spoil the fun. Started out around Lake Ginninderra and then moved towards Gunghalin and over the border. This multi was quick and easy.

Dropped the geoson off at a school holiday event in Belconnen this morning and decided a quick little stroll to collect a couple of caches was in order before diving into work for the day. I had only intended to find just the one cache. This one turned out to be my "just one more". After all, it wasn't too far away and since this is my first time at this side of the lake, I definitely needed to go exploring some more.
This one had me looking all over before I finally spotted it. Nicely hidden. This cache find gave me my second Ruby in the Mystery at the Museum event.
