Day two of a short trip into Gippsland with the deadly treadly for some caches. This morning I started in Morwell at the Crinigan Bushland Reserve.I seemed to have most of the park to myself. A nice ride around the parkI have obviously done more caches than I thought in Gippsland, as I had no trouble meeting the challenge. Thanks, Robmc.Robmc fulfils challenge Gippsland Challenge - 200 (GC7PF8D), according to https://project-gc.com/Challenges/GC7PF8D/34750

Day 5 of the Bring In The New Year (BITNY) road-trip and a big day it is with my 6000th cache milestone, coinciding with the completion of the mammoth Victorian Premiers Challenge. Some LGA caching is thrown in also as we head back towards Melbourne.

Dropped in to sign this one in preparation for future visits to add to this trips total. Although it wasn’t just a drop in. My GPS was a little off and so while I was on the right side initially, my gps sent me around to the other side, and as I bush bashed further and further in, my GPS kept going further until I was almost out the other side again . Log signed at least and took the quicker way out!

Thanks Team Loesch for placing this gamepiece in the wild for us to find.

Lockdown meant local geocaches so qualified.

Had to bring my bike to Morwell to get fixed and thought it would be nice to do a little geocaching while I wait. What a gorgeous spot this is. A lovely walk. Thank you for bringing me here.

I'm not sure how these challenge things work. But found this one on my walk around tbe Morwell Bushland and I definitely meet the criteria. More than 200 cache finds in Gippsland having cached down here for 20 years. One of my first hides was "an open and cut cache" at the Yallourn Lookout. Thanks.

After finishing our circuit on the other side of the park, we determined we had just enough time before the footy match to drive around here and find the last 2 caches.
We parked outside the entrance and walked in to the park, finding the traditional first and then this last challenge. Cache was a nice easy find by JMelb for the last cache for the day

Yea, after standing around for over 30 minutes hiding under the small shelter of an information stand, the rain finally stopped. Now to continue caching this area.

More long wet grass and tee-trees but a nice, large, Orange butterfly showed the way to a sappy tree. Then quickly found the cache.

Thanks for the cache Team Loesch

TFTC. While stopped in Moe we saw this challenge. We did not think we were close to qualifying untilwe checked the checker. Wf had forgotten that a few years ago we had house sat in Inverloch and cached through the area. We only needed 25 more to qualify. We cached in Moe, Morwell , Glenmaggie and now some more on Inverloch.

A lovely area that we do not cache much in.

TFTC. WE had a look at this challenge cache and though that we were a long way from qualifying. When we applied the checked last night I was surprised to see that we had 173 caches in Gippsland. Then recalled that we had spend a lot of time in and around Inverloch while housesitting for a friend. We signed the cache and expect to complete the qualification in the next dat or two as we head to Sale and Inverloch.

Today we returned with better weather to finish of our bushland wander. Started with a picnic, which was interrupted by arrival of police who thought they smelt dope so came to investigate lol, no weed just a couple of chicken wraps and bottle of water. So after escaping the clutches of the men in blue, we made our way to sign our completed challenge.

Finally got out to do the Crinigan Reserve caches today. Happy we didn't have a single DNF on this beautiful winter's day. Geodog loved the walk and even found herself a tatty old tennis ball which thankfully she had lost again by the end of the afternoon. Thanks Team Loesch for a great series.

I saw these caches in town last night, knowing we'd be in town today, so not knowing the area at all well, we found a park at the hospital and off we went.

A nice easy cache to log and find, knowing we qualify for this challenge.

Thanks Team Loesch for the placement.

Happy to share the fact that I am a Gippsland Geocacher!! Got quite a few more in Gippsland still c9ming as I go about my geocaching day. Thanks for bringing me here for these caches.

13-Mar-19
We decided to cache the Crinigan Road Bushland Reserve today - we are so glad we did as during our 4.7 kilometre walk we found all the caches searched for and we also got to see 17 different species of birds and a possum, but sadly no Koala. We do so love a Challenge Cache and so we this was one of the caches we found during our hike. We signed the log book although at the time we hadn't got around to checking if we qualified for a Found It log, but today (27th March 2019) we ran the Project GC checker and see that we do and have now updated our original Write Note into this Found It log - i.e. as confirmed by Project GC we have found 263 caches within the municipalities that make up the Gippsland Region (Bass Coast Shire, Shire of Baw Baw, Shire of East Gippsland, Latrobe City, South Gippsland Shire and Wellington Shire) out of 200 required (proof attached). Thanks so much for the cache and a favourite point for the Challenge. Greetings from Zimbabwe

This was too be the last of the 2018 Victorian Cache of the Year nominations I planned to discover in Gippsland. I’m not going to take up ocean kayaking at this stage of my life! The Driver also got to slip in the mud a little bit to get to the entrance we found! Then a pleasant reserve I didn’t expect to find here to walk through. On top of that, the rain seems to have finally cleared after the soaking we’d had this morning and showers to dodge during the afternoon. A short bush bash led me to the cache, which I’m sure I qualify for well and truly, probably closer to 2000 finds in Gippsland! Well I do live on Phillip Island, which is part of Gippsland!

24-Feb-19
Found by Mary and David, with Mrs Crackers and Mrs Coffee, at 1457. The third and final of the Challenge caches we had targeted this afternoon. A short bush bash, and we found the cache uncovered but most unlikely to be spotted from the trail. We qualify:

Another day, another dollar.
Nicked off from work at lunchtime to grab this nice little hide. We have well and truly completed all of the Gippsland challenges. Many of the hides help showcase all the things we love about living in this area, and we certainly appreciate the many CO’s in this vast area who keep us on our toes while we are at home.
Even as life long residents (at least Mrs Ski, Mr Ski is a new comer having only lived in Gippsland since 1965!) we still find new places here through geocaching.

Confirmation from ProjectGC as follows:
User has 979 finds (200 needed). Filters:(region:Victoria, county (Bass Coast (S)(2), Baw Baw (S)(2), East Gippsland (S)(2), South Gippsland (S)(2), Latrobe (C)(Vic.)(2), Wellington (S)(2), country: Australia). Photo also attached

The Mega had been and gone however myself and FFLL#1 were staying on for another week with some other commitments. I had a charity Gala dinner to attend to on the Saturday following the Mega so it only made sense to stay on in Victoria. We were staying out Gippsland way so we had targeted Robot Charli and a couple other series to do, however the weather decided to go against us and we did not get all that were planned. It doesnt matter, we still got a fair few done in the time we were here. Once it was time to start heading home, we went via Albury to pick up some more puzzles of which we had solved.

Don't yet qualify for this one but will work on it with my visits to the Gippsland area. Will change to a find once I qualify.

After travelling from Tassie overnight on The Spirit of Tasmania, we made our first stop at Morwell. It was good to get out of the car and enjoy walking around and exploring this very pleasant reserve. The most memorable feature were the birds - there were so many different species, all calling as we walked around.

We were confident that we had met the conditions for this challenge and Project-GC confirmed our belief:

Accurate coordinates led to a quick find of a well hidden cache. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks Team Loesch for this cache and others in this very enjoyable reserve.

#2923

Since moving from New Zealand in 2016 I have been enjoying the area, exploring and finding caches.
So far I’ve knocked off 4 of the states. VIC, SA, NSW and A.C.T all multiple times.
No two areas are the same here and almost every place I go to is stunning. The beauty of caching is that it takes you to so many places you would never usually find.
Thank you to all the cachers out there for hiding and maintaining their caches. Especially to those who put so much effort into creating unique and fun hides.
I enjoy finding well maintained caches in fun and unique cache containers. No one likes finding a mint tin – but a find is a find after all
Well she was an American girl
Raised on promises
She couldn't help thinkin' that there
Was a little more to life
Somewhere else
After all it was a great big world
With lots of places to run to
Yeah, and if she had to die
Tryin' she, had one little promise
She was gonna keep
Oh yeah, all right
Take it easy baby
Make it last all night
She was an American girl
Well, It was kind of cold that night
She stood alone on her balcony
She could hear the cars roll by
Out on 441
Like waves crashin' on the beach
And for one desperate moment there
He crept back in her memory
God it's so painful, when
Something that's so close
And still so far out of reach
Oh yeah, all right
Take it easy baby
Make it last all night
She was an American girl
Well I'm a-runnin' down the road try'n to loosen my load
I've got seven women on my mind
Four that want to own me, two that want to stone me
One says she's a friend of mine
Take it easy, take it easy
Don't let the sound of your own wheels drive you crazy
Lighten up while you still can
Don't even try to understand
Just find a place to make your stand, and take it easy
Well, I'm a standin' on a corner in Winslow, Arizona
Such a fine sight to see
It's a girl, my Lord, in a flat-bed Ford
Slowin' down to take a look at me
Come on, baby, don't say maybe
I gotta know if your sweet love is gonna save me
We may lose and we may win, though we will never be here again
So open up I'm climbin' in, so take it easy
Well, I'm a runnin' down the road tryin' to loosen my load
Got a world of trouble on my mind
Lookin' for a lover who won't blow my cover, she's so hard to find
Take it easy, take it easy
Don't let the sound of your own wheels make you crazy
Come on baby, don't say maybe
I gotta know if your sweet love is gonna save me
Oh, we got it easy
We oughta take it easy

I made a find on a previous Sad DNF at Moe Cool then it was off to Clean Up a Creek at Traralgon [^] followed by finding some bloody good caches Cool (both containers and reasons for placement) around the area with leafotwind, NoWorries andAlphaDeltaIndigo Big Grin[:X], chatting to Crisp image as the group found Wherever I Lay My Hat CoolSmile before Rex and I left the group, walking in the Crinigan Road Bushland Reserve at dusk[^]Smile, seeing a huge Surprised Dr21 dredger once used for coal mining and now placed at Morwell, finding a tiny grave in the middle of a shopping area Sad, finding my 1st 3D printed cache container Cool and then it was off to the Lakes Entrance area and wandering out on the peninsulaSmileCool[^]

Seeing old RAAF airfields and radio bunkersCool, seeing tiny country towns and meeting some great people Smile (including an almost muggle woman and her children in Mallacoota where she had previously looked for 1 cache and who may now get into geocaching properly Cool[^]), seeing the sun rise while surrounded by kangaroos Smile and standing on the eastern coast of Vic Cool and chatting with Rollmatrix throughout my time in Mallacoota and Genoa SmileBig Grin

Spending a few hours chatting with a lovely truckie, Michael [:X], who was on a wood chip run to Canberra as we traversed the countryside in the dark (after I had apologised for slowing down his fully laden rig as Harry crawled his way up a hill Red FaceWink) then I pulled into Cooma for a break and an EC and also found a cache, Southern Cloud, about the aircraft accident Sad and then accidentally ended up at another memorial cache, Southern Comfort, Southern Cloud or Southern Storm, later on in the trip SurprisedCool

Seeing brumbies amongst the snow along the edge of the road at night in the mountains in NSW Cool[^]Smile, seeing a thermal pool early in the morning with steam rising from it in the cold air and water plants growing up from the sandy bottom Surprised[^]Cool, seeing the grave of the alleged Man from Snowy River while finding the multi The Man from Snowy River - HCPPP CoolBig GrinSmile[^]Cool and then chatting to SciFiRulz who I managed to sneak in a quick visit with CoolSmileBig Grin before heading home and finding The Highest Railway Station on the way Cool

Over the 8 days there was 9 DNFs Sad (although I did manage to find a few on my 2nd attempts Smile), 1 CITO event attended Cool and a total of 111 Smile cache finds including 3 FTFs SurprisedCool

As I am about 8 months behind in logging, I'm resorting to template logs to catch up. Sad
My heartfelt thanks to the COs who have placed some tricky, funny, exercise required, scary, interesting and devious caches in some amazing spots! Cool[^]CoolSmile
Rex and I have had some amazing adventures and enjoyed some incredible moments thanks to this fantastic hobby SmileBig GrinCool

Out and about on a nice Winters Day cache hunting.
Crinigan Road Reserve or "The Bush".
The bush as it was call by us kids, when I lived in the area. This was my old stomping ground and spent many a day as a kid growing up and playing here.

Found the cache and signed the log.

YAY - Big Grin I qualify for this cache. When I get the chance to sign the log, I'll change this 'Write Note" to a "Found It" (Initial "Write Note" created on June 18th, 2018)

Up Date - July 11th, 2018 WOO HOO Cool I signed the log today. Thanks Team Loesch for setting up this cache. Another cache find on the way to finding the different souvenirs of the Hidden Creatures challenge. Picked up "The Geocaching Peg" Trackable to move on.

The Troll Dolls (TB7G08H) visited on their great caching adventure with Fredd01.

P.S. - Team Loesch, thank you very much for the time you've taken in setting up this series around the Crinigan Road Bushland Reserve. I've appreciated the efforts you've gone to, to put it all together. Cheers, Fredd01

It was geohubby who suggested we take a walk around this reserve to log these caches. The reserve was different than I imagined and am surprised this was unchartered territory before now. We had a good walk and although some of the time we seemed to be scrambling through scrub we had some fun doing it. Tyftc

Oh excellent, my first challenge cache with the new requirement for using Project GC. For years, I've been using a multi-sheet Excel document to track around 25 Challenge caches so that if I'm ever nearby, I can sign the log. This has only happened once......but hey, why not?!?!

Along the path we trundle, by this time the drizzle was unpleasant for my glasses-requiring sight deficit so I asked Kato to tell me if anything was in my path. It was kind of her to actually do so because honestly, it would be pretty funny seeing me headbutt something head on and bounce off. I'm not a slow walker, you see. A quick find, a happy pair of signatures and we were on the way. TFTC Team Loesch.

I'd been waiting all day for mummy short legs to be free from home commitments and finally the call came thru at 4pm. Of course it's not too late or rainy to tackle a new series! So off we went with only a slight time restriction due to daddy long legs work commitments. Happy to find this one and even happier that the checker gave me the tick of approval... although i think I'd be worried if it didn't, given Gippsland is my home turf. Evidence below. GizaGal called me to let me know there were new caches in Morwell. No kids wanted to come so I set off alone. I drove to a car-park and while I was getting myself sorted out kryslazz turned up. So we have a pleasant stroll in the reserve and found the 10 new caches including 9 FTFs. After we departed I then found JENGA#2 alone.
This is a lovely group of interesting caches, all the co-ords were spot on, and we found most caches quite quickly.
tftc .. ty for the series.
