Couldn't find but may go back tomorrow.

Cooroibah Creek - Australasian Darter was transferred from WallabyWanderers to user AtTheLakeHouse

28-Jan-23
Started my day with a paddle.
Muddy and wet, as expected.
Plenty of fish in the creek, highlight of my paddle was an eagle chasing a flock of galahs.

Not in the perfect tree but this one makes sense

Thank you for the adventure

Although there was only two left in the series, we decided it was prudent to make this our last find. The weather had started to turn and the wind was picking up. Knowing we had the open lake to traverse we headed back. It turned out to be a wise decision as thunder started rolling with about 500m left to paddle. An enjoyable day on the water today. Thanks WallabyWanderers

No life story here. Found it, higher than expected. Good climb

On our way up the creek, we had spotted to Australian Darters. They were drying their wings, which were outstretched.
Having spent much of our life playing in the symphony orchestras, we refer to them as the “conductor bird”! i.e. hold your hands out and wave the baton in the air. also known as the “ look at me” bird, because that is what a conducter is always asking each member of the Orchestra to do. Slightly disrespectful to these lovely birds, but a family joke for us.
We found this one safe and dry and have added our name to the log.
Such a beautiful Creek to paddle.
Thanks wallabywanderers for placing this series.
The rain had stopped again, and we were oscillating between looking at our Geocaching map, and the BOM, which was starting to look decidingly ominous.

We needed one more box to fill to complete the first loop of our D/T grid, (3/5) the series of 8 here looked to be a good fit for us as no mountain climbing involved.
Drove to the Cooroibah Creek park hoping to launch the kayak from there and have a shorter paddle. Not to be as vehicle access there is closed.
Drove to the the suggested launch point, after a dnf there and black clouds looming spirits weren't that high.
Paddled 1.2km to the first cache and made a reasonably fast find, clouds veered off to the south and blue sky appeared.
After that all proceeded smoothly, most caches were found with no trouble. All caches were in good condition with plenty of room on the log sheet.

Mozzies were swarming in this spot, had used repellant, but forgot to do neck and ears.
Felt a bit wobbly getting this one.
Thanks again Wallaby wanderers

Part of the 16Jan Paddle Crew. I was looking forward to kayaking this creek, not having been on it before. We had found a direct launch point but some of the others were keen to cross the lake to get there, so we went with that. Turned out to be bloody hard work and I was very thankful for a friend in the group who helped me back at the end. All makes for a memorable experience though and we had a good time. I love discovering new places and this was one of those adventures for me. Pretty sure the only bird I saw was a striated heron, but that could
have been because I was chatting Smile. Soren did most of the log signing for the group today, along with Mick, and E was on photo duties. At least I did the finding for a couple and the signing of another to contribute. Thanks for placing this trail and highlighting another of the sunny coasts waterways

Day 2 of our weekend geocaching adventure with RoddyC, hatzofff, Snickersallan and GrannySmith 1947 (and millie dog) and we are joining others for our kayak leg of our journey on the creeks in the area. (Logs signed 16/1/21 Paddlers)

After our paddle on Cooloothin Creek, we moved on to paddle to this series of caches along Cooroibah Creek. A bit of a way from the putting in ramp but quite pleasant. Once on the creek, the caches were located easily and thanks to georode who did most of the climbing, we found all the caches. The wind had picked up by the time we had finished which made our paddle back to the starting point a hard slog but got there in the end.

A most enjoyable morning with good friends and clear skies.

The plan today was to grab some paddle caches with georode and esmiley. I arrived at the parking coordinates to find no one here, ok so I’m a little early but it is 6.45. then as one car arrives a whole more turned up, eleven people turned up to what I thought was just a small and quick paddle. Turned out to be a fun and eventful morning, we got 16 paddle caches and a couple of extras along the way. There was no problem with any of these caches and all were in good order.

Thanks to the CO’s who put these out there, it was a great day on the water, a lot of chats and a good group of people, thank you.

16-Jan-21
After finishing kayaking a creek nearby, we decided to continue on in this creek. The wind was picking up a bit but still a very enjoyable and successful paddle with other cachers. I think I climbed all except one tree in this series today.

Another fabulous day of water caching. Our group of five from yesterday's Maroochy River epic is now a good dozen. Target caches today are along two creeks: Cooloothin Creek to Lake Cootharaba, and Cooroibah Creek to Lake Cooroibah.

Great creek.

Log signed and cache replaced as found on January 16, 2021. TFTC, WallabyTim

Well, the mini event at Coolothin was not enough for this bunch of eager paddlers, we moved to Cooroibah and selected the much longer route for more action! We (Georode, Chamad, Snickerallan, Dahumbug, Grannysmith1947, RoddyC, Hatzofff, Patrol14, atthelakehouse
and me - signed as 16 Jan 2021 Paddlers) had a great time doing this exercise. Fantastic company at a serene location.

Thanks for the cache and taking us here WallabyTim. Enjoyed the hunt. I spotted the elusive bird, it's probably my only contribution to this expedition.

Please check out https://coord.info/GC8M4ZQ - CacheQLD - Dayboro  - Queensland's Mega Event. Last time this event was 5 years ago!   Save the date - 03 April 2021, 07:00 - 23:45 and log your will attend. It's going to be a great event!

Just because an event was cancelled, doesn't mean we cancel our weekend. Now what can we do. Today was a kayaking day. Set off early to do 2 creeks.

Beautiful morning. Getting hotter.

Great Australian names. Must check if these help a challenge I have yet to qualify for.

Had a most enjoyable time on the water, nice and relaxing in the first quaint little Cooloothin Creek then packed up and moved to the bigger Cooroibah Creek.
All hides were great and found reasonably quickly in a big team effort today.

Time for some fun on the water with Brislions. We headed to Coolothin Creek first. Caches there found, we headed to Cooroibah Creek. Really enjoying this paddle. The cache was quickly located and the log signed. TFTC

During the week I was thinking which challenge I should on. I was thinking of two challenges. Chatting with Selva Girls, I came up with Cooroibah Creek for D3/5T and said what about this Cooloothin Creek to. So 14 caches were targeted, we had a wonderful day out caching today.
We started Cooloothin Creek. Then move on to Lake Cooroibah and Cooroibah Creek it was fun paddling across the lake, but we had to walk 50 or so meters out before we could start paddling to the creek. Very shallow and hot. The water was very hot.
We found 8 caches on the creek all caches were good.

Sorry for the generic post

After long search and some tree climbing I gave up, as I couldn't find anything.

10-Oct-20
Nyssaflutterby, 1minniemoo, Fangsoki, teamnanabombana, Alphagalaxywolf and dreamerskye and I were staying at a house along the creek, which rather fantastically came with a variety of kayaks!
We had thought the night before that maybe we could walk to this one, glad we didn't try that Wink
1MM again did the climbing here.

10-Oct-20
Nyssaflutterby, wombles&co, teamnanabombana, Alphagalaxywolf, 1MinnieMoo, DreamerSkye, and I were in various watercraft grabbing caches.

This one took a fair bit of spotting. No good from the boat, I disembarked and set about looking. I spotted the beast. 1MinnieMoo ended up doing the honours. TFTC WallbabyWanderers Smile

10/10/20 Find #4217
A group of us - NyssaFlutterby with DreamerSkye, wombles and co, Fangsoki, teamnanabombana and Alphagalaxywolf, and I - were heading to Noosa for Earthcache weekend, and staying at Lake Cooroibah. The plan was to grab these kayak caches today, and head for the planned earthcaches tomorrow.
Fangsoki spotted this one from land, as the rest of us were having no luck spying it from the kayaks, and NyssaFlutterby began to head up, but I was quickly chosen as sacrificial retriever as there was concern for the strength of these branches. They certainly worried nanabombana who was watching me from below with baited breath expecting me to come crashing through at any moment.
All good tho, retrieval completed without issues.
Thanks for the cache WallabyWanderers.

I (MrsWallaby) was formally known as KaleidoscopeCass but merged with geo-hubby and original CO WallabyTim to become WallabyWanderers as we do our geocaching together anyway. We no longer live at Noosa and miss the beautiful waterways. Thanks to dahumbug for adopting this cache and so many other water caches!

Day 2 of a kayaking and camping weekend.
Out with Caro to find the caches along this creek.
Another enjoyable paddle, though the wind picked up the closer to the lake we got.
Thanks for the cache.

10-Mar-19
This weekend of camping and kayaking was organised by Slow Puncture for a group from the PRCYS. We stayed at the Scout Campsite, 'Camp Cooroora' on the banks of Lake MacDonald. A fantastic place to stay with hot showers, grassy campgrounds, fire pits and kitchen facilities ... and cheap. [^]
Day 1 involved finding the caches on Lake MacDonald and Cooloothin Creek. [^]
Day 2 started with Eenie Creek with Ruzzelz and finished with Cooroibah Creek with Caro. Cool
We launched the kayaks close to the road and paddled to the lake. Razz Sneaky. [^]
OH, look, 2 people exiting the tent. Red Face The tent was gone when we returned. Wink
Thanks for the cache.

We made our way along the creek, and at this location it was time for Colin to head up to sign the log, which he did. Razz I really like these creek caches you have placed, WallabyTim. There really is no way I would have ever come here if not for the geocaches, and I'm glad I did as I really do enjoy paddling along the creeks. It's serene, pretty, and as the breeze picked up and kept the mozzies away it was more and more pleasant.

Thanks for this series, WallabyTim!

Pine Rivers Cruising Yakht Squadron organi9sed event for the weekend and a couple of us ( Slow Puncture , JAT and myself decided to get in early before the crowds and Cooroibah Creek. Great afternoon collecting these caches. Cool

08-Mar-19
After an early meet up with Slow Puncture and ruzzelz in Cooroy for a coffee, we headed off to the Scout Campsite 'Camp Cooroora' on the banks of Lake MacDonald for a weekend of camping and kayaking fun with a small group from the PRCYS. After setting up our campsite and having a bite to eat, we decided there was still plenty of time to launch the kayaks and find a few caches Cool With the wind picking up, the caches along Cooroibah Creek were the pick of those available (and the late arrivals may not have forgiven us if we had made an early start on Lake MacDonald without them Red Face).

We located an appropriate point from which to launch the kayaks and then found ourselves in a magnificent creek with nice, clear water and fish jumping about every now and then as we paddled by Razz Once we arrived at ground zero, we located the cache easily enough and with our names added to the log book, we continued on our way Cool

Thank you WallabyWanderers for placing the cache and for maintaining it for everyone to enjoy Big Grin

Friday. Out with Ruzzelz and JAT, to collect the series of caches along this very pretty creek. Our arrows were pointing to a general area and so it was Ruzzelz who set off to see if he could find the now familiar looking cache container. Finding that he was going from spot to spot, and searching what he thought was the obvious spot (well our arrows did point that way), he came up empty handed. We read the logs and there was one log in particular that made us think to look just slightly further afield. I finally spotted the container and was super glad because there are quite a few spots in here where you could hide something. I did the clambering on this one and signed the log for us..

This was the 3rd of 8 caches found on today's trip.

Thanks ***WallabyWanderers***, for showing us this place. Smile

04-Jan-19
I thought the cache would be in the log somewhere and the GPSr seemed to agree. But after searching around for a few minutes I moved to the next likeliest hide and soon spotted it. Getting up there was ok and I found a good spot to stand where I didn’t need to hold on while I signed the log.

Thanks for the cache WallabyWanderers. This was find #3903. Please discover my trackable: MMGJ6B.

Out with CSNMASN today for a paddle along a few creeks in the area and this was number six. We managed to locate all the caches along this creek with a bit of climbing and a bit of balancing in the yaks along the way. Logs were signed with Col & C, C&Konie or just C&K to save a bit of room and it also depended in what sort of a position we were in too.

Once the log was signed all was returned as found.

#7 of 8 caches today on our Cooroibah Creek soiree
After passing the big house on the creek with lots of people fishing and kayaking around it, and a cute little forest kingfisher, we popped into this little inlet and tied up next to the big log across the water.
I headed straight off to one spot but was sorely disappointed that my blind reaches into darkness did not reveal the cache. We searched all around the area, J walked across the log but did not come any the wiser, we circled each tree several times trying to look from every different angle. Then I ventured to a slightly more difficult area within a maze of mangrove branches and J spotted the cache well out of reach. I started up the tree, a little concerned about the strength of the skinny branches, but J felt more confident so I let him bypass me and soon he had the cache in hand. That was another significant climb!

Pretty sure I saw some of these out on the lake too. They are very similar to the cormorants though.

This was my longest hunt for this series. I even walked the plank to try for a different angle at GZ. I was pretty certain of the general location, so I made my way closer and sure enough there it was. Smile

13-Jul-18
So with dahumbug having leant us a kayak ( well it may not be his but thanks to both of you) we set about tackling so of the creek caches. We were not sure we would get all 3 creeks done but after going well on the first creek headed over and launched as suggested. A lovely day on the sunny coast and beautiful on the water. After some paddling we pulled into the month of the creek to make the first find and yes these were harder and higher than the first series but no complaining. Past the bird tree with pelicans and cormorants enjoying the sun. Along with went discovering the tide was running strong and our rope did not hold at one cache resulting in about a 50m swim for the retrieval after we spotted the kayak drifting away as we were up the tree. The other misadventure was near the end when a mangrove root gave way suddenly causing us to crash into the bank and loose our pen. A great paddle. TFTC.

FTF with geowife Dora the Explorer. Nice sunny day, good spot to paddle a kayak, quiet, lots of birds and calm water.

16-Jun-18
I was aware that this series of caches was due to be released and noticed their publication however I was unable to go to find them due to work commitments.

After a couple more days Dora the Explorer! and I had noticed that no one had as yet found these caches and the FTF's were still available.

Dora the Explorer! and Phil Serenity had decided to find these caches today but I initially thought that I would be unable to join them due to further work commitments.

It turned out due to varying circumstances that Dora the Explorer! and Phil Serenity was on the water a lot later then expected and I had finished work a little bit earlier than expected, so I decided to join them on the water.

The CO spotted me when I was about to set off on my paddle and just as I was about to get into my kayak he said hello to me. I was not aware that there was anyone around. He frightened the life out of me and I just about fell out of the kayak before I had even started.

As Dora the Explorer! and Phil Serenity had started before me, I decided that I would keep on paddling until I caught them and grab the caches that I paddled past on my return trip.

After completing the end caches with Dora the Explorer! and Phil Serenity we head back up stream and I found the caches that Dora the Explorer! and Phil Serenity had found.

I did the climbs and the searching whilst Dora the Explorer! and Phil Serenity sat around at watched.

When the cache was found, the log was signed and returned to the cache and the cache replaced exactly as found.

All is good with this cache.

{FTF} - Took a little while to find and was well camouflaged. This was our 3rd cache of the day.

Not really being a FTF hound, I had planned during the week to do these caches with Phil Serenity on the weekend as I enjoy kayaking down quiet estuaries, and creeks and rivers. We didn't even leave home till 10.00am and I had to go via Caboolture to collect my phone from work. CDAH55 had wanted to do these caches straight after work but starting at 2.00pm didn't exactly excite Phil Serenity so we started earlier.
