Out with the wife and little miss to complete the final today. I have been slowly picking my way through these caches over the last couple years, some easy and some quite challenging. A lovely day for a walk around wonga, one WP tripped us up and I had to message the CO, and as it always seems to be for me, I found it as soon as I messaged! It's an awesome end to a great series. And I have enjoyed all the walks and learning about the various animals. FP awarded. TFTC !
Tracks are open - I checked this one a while ago and all good to go.
Hopefully back later to check/replace some of the others
Hopefully back later to check/replace some of the others
Checked again this afternoon - tracks still closed (main issue appears to be access to a bridge). Will continue you to check when things open up but might be a while.
Checked this one today - all stages right to Go (even the one that went under water) but track is closed at the bridge so unless you have the final coordinates it can not be collected yet.
Will keep watching what happens but it may be a while until the track is open again.
Will keep watching what happens but it may be a while until the track is open again.
Wonga Wetlands is still closed because of the flooding - have time over the Christmas period to check all these caches and do the required maintenance
The whole of Wonga is now closed - 14 gates open on Hume Dam. Will need to check this one once access is open again
Access may be limited with flooring (though one track was open). I will do a maintenance run when waters subside and check all caches soon
A 2nd visit to Wonga Wetlands was required to finally close out the WoA series...
And the weather put on a show for us today...
This cache caused us a few headaches, but lucky this time the mozzie brigade were not in attendance, so we could take our time wondering around this beautiful location
Eventually made the find, congrats to the CO for both the series and the clever final, glad to have ticked this as complete, TFTC Thewins5 and FP awarded

Well, this was a mission and a half. One of a couple of major targets that my geosister klbooth from England, and myself from Brisbane put up on the virtual fridge for our family holiday catchup here in Albury this year.
Step the first - solve a few puzzles. Thankfully the vet surgeon took control of that aspect, and with answers plotted on the map, a general plan of attack was pencilled in that took us from one state to another (mostly clean to dirty actually).
Step the second - a few hikes needed to be completed. Mostly up hills. Big hills. Or actually mostly the same big hill multiple times. Lizards, birds, bugs. Worms (but not snakes, apparently legs aren't important any more ... I can assure you we needed our legs.)
Step the next - where does all that take us? Yes, we knew we were coming to Wonga Wetlands (which is such a magical place, and flat, that we were happy to know coming here would be our finale). And did I mention it was flat? After all those ups and downs flat was a very nice way to complete this one.
And then it was today. Basically our last day all together - and with our muggle entourage along as both encouragement and as it turned out extra eyes, we headed in to the Wonga-zone. You know the way it goes "You are about to enter another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind. A journey into a wondrous land of imagination. Next stop, the Wonga Zone!"
A lovely morning for the walk actually. A bit cooler, and with some cloud cover it encourages the wildlife to get out and about. But not too many muggles - just how we like it. We really did struggle with what was required here, but after a very bad start, some very timely and welcomed advice and encouragement from the master CO had us heading back again and ultimately the muggles became useful for us (team effort) and it wasn't too long (relatively) before we were scribbling our names in the log book. Sigh - you are a bugger aren't you?
Names. Are. In. the. Logbook.!!! Woo Hoo !!!
Wow, well that was a massive effort start to finish - took us 3 weeks, lots of sweat, some blood and the odd tear of frustration. It does feel a bit that we have been monopolised by this CO this trip - but worth it. A very fitting and 'typical' ending to a brilliant series and FP worthy indeed.
Thanks Thewins5 for entertaining me at this location (and so many others).

Out from the UK visiting family and caching with big brother Pprime. Trip is sadly coming to an end soon and have yet to visit Wonga wetlands ever, so that was this morning's planned adventure dragging a couple of muggles along with us for the fun and trying to squeeze time in with them as well as getting a few more smilies. Multitasking see!!
Well where to start with this one..... it started with a couple of finds and a couple of nights working on puzzles, once prepared we had a couple of hikes up nailcan to get the further information needed and that was all successful and clutching our prized coords we merrily headed for them today. and.... nope.... 2 sets of caching eyes, 2 sets of muggle eyes and we got nothing. So frustrated, but after some time searching we decided we needed to carry on with the morning walk. P messaged the CO and we got a reply before finishing our walk and actually at the perfect point in the walk which doesn't happen much so we felt our luck was in. Back we went with renewed vigour and yes... and no... sigh.... nothing is ever that simple with this CO it seems. Suffice to say we were eventually successful (yay for us) but not without blood sweat and tears.[B)]
All in good order, log signed and replaced as found. Thanks for placing this cache for us to find!!

Well, it turns out this cache is a good way to while away most of an afternoon
With all the clues gathered from previous visits to other places, we rocked up here expecting just a short stroll and a quick sign...
Nope......
What we did have however was a very nice tour of the now filled swamp on a lovely afternoon, and we made our way around the place chatting away until we were finally pointed at GZ where the Queen came up with the goods and we signed our lives away.
Can't understand why this hasn't been found for so long as it's a really nice walk.
Cheers

Things seem to have gone awry here. I need to check GZ and replace something which I will hopefully do over the next week or so
Was worried that the works on what appears to be a new bike trail had disturbed this one but all good (though without GPS took me a while to find). Cache was upside down and had a a few ants on it but contents all good (nice stickers still there).
New bike trail might offer dome new cache slots once the COVID-19 thing settles down.

I have had the final coords for sometime but just havent had a chance to make the find.
I organised a catch up with Jorgo_crew ( they will be back to sign the log when the rest of the series is completed) so we wandered around the wetlands on this cooler but smoky afternoon. I have explored this area on many occasions and was quite surprised at how low the wetlands are looking, we really do need some rain.
I have enjoyed this series and also the many hikes up nailcan to collect the clues.
Thanks thewins5 a fav from us and a bonus at seeing a possum near gz

Thought I was popping by for a quick scribble in the log, having noted the final location on a previous visit (completed the series out of order and had sufficient clues but waited to make it official when they were all done).
Ah, perhaps not! Dodged a large wedding that fortunately moved on quickly after the ceremony. Admired black swans and fluffy signets. Grabbed some more recordings of the frogs, including Sloane's Froglets. Got a little damp with a few showers rolling through. No photos taken but enjoyed lagoon after lagoon with the water levels up and wildlife at each turn.
A fitting end to this terrific series, encouraging yet more wildlife experiences.
Left some insect stickers for future finders.
Thanks for all the hides, info and effort Thewins5 - loved the theme and locations.

Out at Wonga enjoying a walk ( alot of water at the moment) and checking out caches (mine and others). All good here, and a little bit of extra detail added (though cache all good).
Waiting for the next finder.

3TF. After collecting all the numbers in previous outings and the last set today we ventured out to the final at Wonga Wetlands on a beautiful day for caching.
It was a solid effort to collect all the caches and we learned much during the Wildlife of Australia series, and will be keeping our eyes peeled more looking out for them on our adventures moving forward.
No drama out at the Wetlands, and after the young fella collected a few caches on his account while there we soon located the hide.
SL at 4.30pm. All good with the cache.
A favourite point from us. It was a fun experience and a great way to finish the series. TFTC Thewins5.

Joint FTF with Wackyweedos. Collected all the clues from the puzzles and set off to get the final cache. Thanks for giving us a reason to climb the Hill not once but on a few occasions Tftc
**FTF** at 5:43pm with TheClazzas yesterday. Our first unpublished find!! What an awesome final for a great series. We have loved every adventure... climbing Nailcan several times to grab all the different hides for this series often in new places. The wildlife is exactly why we love where we live and this series represents all of that!! We loved that this final adventure took us to new areas of wonga that we hadn't previously explored. Thanks for another great cache Thewins5. Highly recommend the series and all the places it takes you.
