WA Big Trip Winter 2024. Day 125 - Kununurra Day 2. Today was a day around town and the close area. I was happy to find some DNFs from may last visit in 2018. I was glad there were not too many long walks, but the Mirima National park is always great and the Gardens of stone area was fun driving and one short walk. My final stop was the Ivanhoe crossing. The water level had come down a bit but it is well and truly closed still. Still pretty hot all day, I am glad there was a pool to cool off in a few times. I cooked dinner at the van tonight and will be off to Timber Creek tomorrow.I have made a point of vesting this great national park on each of my visits. The tasks for this Earth cache took me to some wonderful spots and I am glad I made it up to the lookout, even if it was really too hot for that much effort. I have sent my answers in. Thanks for the cache m4yb48952.4 TNLNVisited: World Traveling Gold GC A#6 & March 2017 FTF IV A#359**Albida**

An interesting visit to a dramatic & fascinating landscape. I appreciate how this EC helps one interpret the processes which went to form it, so thank you (and a FP) for that. A fun look around while doing other caches at the site.

2 weeks in the Kimberley with Dino, Pebbles and Wilma. What a treat and not just that we went around to so many great natural highlights but we did Caches wherever we went which made me very happy and will be perfect to remember all those nice places we saw. Thank you all for showing us this beautiful state with your caches.

Today we visited the mini Bungle Bungles to show Pebbles some of these layered rocks. A very nice park and quite different to the big brother but beautiful in its own right. We spent some nice time walking the trails and taking in nature and the rock art. Before we had a long drive past Halls creek to Mimbi caves.

Answers were quickly found and then did some more exploring of the park.

Thank you m4yb for putting the cache out and maintaining it.

We started our day with a hike from our neraby caravanpark in the Mirima National Park, visiting all lookouts and even hiking the Yoorrnging Geranyem Banan Loop with the aboriginal arts. Unfortunately we had lots of DNFs.

Before arriving in Kununarra we just visited the big brothers of these special rock formations here. But nevertheless we enjoyed our hike, the view and the stunning rocks.

Thanks for the cache and regards from Switzerland.

Two caches in one place on the map, and this was difficult to access, but managed. I love this place and the interesting eroded shapes and hills. I scrambled part way up one area of them. Pleased to find they were not slippery and were easy to scramble on.

What a special little spot this is, I actually walked in and around here a few times as we stayed at the caravan park out the back a couple of times over the past few weeks.
Having been to the bungles twice I can confirm Mirima is very similar and defiantly worth a look. I thank m4yb for the interesting earth science lesson and a fast reply when I messaged her.

A really quick hike in from the north to the two lookouts and back out before it got completely dark! Didn't have long to look too closely at the rocks here, unfortunately, so we won't win any prizes for our answers to this one. Thanks for setting an EC here in this amazing landscape.

An amazing geological location, with plenty of evidence of the turmoil the landscape has gone through over the millions and millions of years.
It has left it to be a stunning, ruggered, natural beautiful Kimberley landscape.
Thanks for sharing this really interesting location Smile

We did all of the traditional caches in the Hidden Valley on our previous visit to Kununurra just a few weeks ago and then realised there was an earth cache to be found after we’d left, so we took the opportunity to visit the park again on our return trip, to pick this one up. Very happy to return back to this beautiful place and walk the trails again. Answers sent. TFTC

We visited this earthcache in our holidays in Australia from december to january.
The park is really great! We loved to do the walk to the top end and the views!
On our way back to town we had a little sand storm which was also an interesting experience!

Got up bright an early to attempt the caches in the Mirima National Park - had read some reviews on trip advisor and saw the caches and the favourite points and decided this looked like a good walk we just had to get up early to make it happen. We got up early and had a great morning with many photos taken which I’ll endeavour to add to the logs. Beautiful location and thanks for sharing with us Everlasting. I was very greatful to get back to the pool at the resort after the hot walk.

We always enjoy a good earth cache and thanks to M4YB for taking us here. Awarding FP

Had three weeks holiday so decided on a massive road trip to the most northern part of the state - the Kimberley. An area we have never explored, but had always been on the to do list. We travelled through the towns of Mount Magnet, Newman, Port Hedland, Broome, Halls Creek, Kununurra, back to Broome, Karratha, Exmouth, Denham, Geraldton and back home to Perth. It certainly was a very quick trip for the distance covered, over 8,000 kilometres in total, we saw a lot in such a short space of time, but barely scratched the surface of what’s out in these parts.

We would like to thank the individual COs for hiding the caches throughout these parts, from the towns to the highways and byways. Thank you for choosing to share these locations with us and we appreciate the effort you have gone to. Thanks for the fun.

What a surprising place, just a mini version of where we are going after leaving town.
great little valleys to explore and some great views to photograph.
Well worth the little detour.
Such a lucky town to have this so close.

Hello from England! Having just come from the real (and amazing) Bungle Bungles, this was still a great park to visit, especially as you got to climb (by stairs) up to some great view points [8d]. Thanks for helping us to explore this lovely place. TFTC [10327]

A visit to Mirima was on the must do list while passing through Kununurra on our AdVANtures exploring the country. With so much of the Kimberley being difficult to access, it's great being able to get up close and personal with these spectacular formations. Thanks for the EC here to mark our visit with a smiley on the geomap m4yb.

Did this circuit in a reverse manner. I did drive in here a couple of weeks ago and the drive in did not do the walk justice. This place needs to be explored on foot as there is so much hidden from the road, and what better way to make your way around by grabbing a few caches along the way.

I do like a nice walk in places such as this where there is just 'wow' around every corner.

Got back in the afternoon and speared the email with answers off in time for me to head off to work. Curse the interruptions.

Many thanks for putting in an earth cache here m4yb
Cheers

A lovely spot for a walk but I can do without the 40 degree heat.
Did the series here and totally enjoyed the walk up to the two lookouts well worth the trip out here and the photos I took don’t do this this place justice.
Thanks m4yb TFTEC

Joint FTF with the wonderful Two plus Four team while doing our fabulous trip across the top of Nor-West WA. Stopped at the caravan Park and had a great early morning walk to enjoy all the massive amounts of birdlife and huge rock structures, the one at GZ is awesome, and the view from the second waypoint is stunning.

Thanks so much for the education and the chance to head this way again m4yb well worth a fav for the views.
