Day 3 of our caching trip to Palmerston North area with HeMaLuDy, UncleSamNZ, Keylev, and myself, signing in as SEAC or TEAM SEAC to save logbook space. A big thanks to all the CO's for cache placement and maintenance, making this trip the success that it was.TFTC.
Day #3 of the Team SEAC extra long weekend little road trip for Labour Weekend.Quick find for us here today. Thanks for the cache.
A small group of us from Team SEAC consisting of Keylev, Stik-A-Crane, Uncle Sam and ourselves had come down from Auckland to spend the long weekend caching in the Manawatu area. The plan was to get as many as possible. Along the way we had some great adventures, many laughs, met some interesting people and found a wide selection of caches. Signed SEAC to save space on the log. TFTC.A day out today heading up to Apiti and then back down through Pohangina. Nice quick find here.
Small group of caching buddies drove down from Auckland for the long weekend, and headed for Palmerston North area. Sorry for the generic posts, but we had so many caches to find.Had a great time, with so many laughs. Thanks to all the Cache owners who placed the caches. This was day 3 of our trip. All logs signed "SEAC" or "Team Seac"
We've missed a few along the road which is quite hard to do but its been a long day, we were getting hungry and I still have work to do. So at this point we are trying to get the day on a nice round number of finds. TFTC # 20,194
HS and I were spread along an acceptable area of GZ. I glanced down, and here was the cache looking at me, totally naked, exposed, uncovered. The log was sodden. Not to worry, HS has spares. Fresh paper is now residing in a mint tin, duly hidden from the public 's view.
Didn't take long to find this one. Love our days packed full of adventures. Log wet unfortunately. Tftc
The geodad had to pick up something so I joined him for my third trip to this little town. Found the cache lying on the ground so put it back behind the hint. TFTC.
I was last out this way 2 years ago for the same reason as today - dropping EtherGirl off at Camp Rangi Woods for Gangshow rehearsal camp.
With a bit more time up my sleeve today, I managed to tick off a few more caches along the way.
We've dropped EG off and are now on to the next task of a trademe item pickup in Pohangina village (on the otherside of the river when the bridge was washed away earlier in the year! )
The hint item was easy to identify on approach but it still took a while to notice the glaringly obvious cache container.

Straight forward find. Thank you. Number 99 in pursuit of the GCHQ **Spin the Wheel challenge**
came after work and planned to only find one cache but couldn’t resist and ended up finding 6

Thanks Madge Family for keeping this one going. After a cold night in a tent it was nice to get out into the sunshine here and find a cache or 2.

Caches? The Moar the merrier. Checked base, and behind before finding an unusual cache type at this location. Nano nano, Mork calling Ork, I think I've hit the nail on the head.
A return back to the Pohangina Valley today with a few mini-missions planned for the day. Primarily to enjoy the turning of the Autumn leaves on the trees as this area is one of the best to view that occurence. Next up is to find some more 20/20 caches after managing to get the solved coordinates for some I missed last time. (a final assault on the last few will have to wait until a future adventure). A return to some roads, and some new ones driven. Also, do the other side of the Pohangina river Valley road, and also extend out towards Utuwai, then return again along slim dusty roads. A good day to be out, 41 finds with 7 DNFs (some were probably me, some not). Thanks to the COs for their hides and maintenance, a special mention to watcache who will soon be my 5th most prolific hider, nice one. I took small notes on all finds today, incl changes of wet/destroyed logbooks.

Looked for this one without success in 2019. Back today and on approaching was pleased to see it clearly. Glad of this quick find and converting to a yellow smiley. Thanks Madge family!
Got the day off work so decided to explore some back country roads from Pohangina to Apiti. Sneaky hide here. All fine. Thanks for the smiley.
Nice easy one thank you, I’ve enjoyed my weekend at Pohangina, time to go home, catch the rest next time
After a short search we spotted the cache lying on the ground near the hint item. We were uncertain where it should have been, but replaced it in one of the few spots we could find nearby which were appropriate to this type of cache, although it is very visible, whereas it sounds as if it should be difficult to spot. TFTC
This must be very sneaky... maybe even worthy of a higher D-rating as it was not found by me today I feel that most of the Wildbore series are quite hard to find... so maybe I am not very good at searching, or the Madge family are extra good at hiding them... either way I am a bit frustrated with this particular cache.
Now that I am home and able to edit my DNF log, I see that I have only been able to find half your caches so far, and they are almost all D/T of 1.5/1.5... not good for my carbon footprint!

Today's plan was locate and sign off any many as I could on the western side of the Pohangina River so mainly up the Pohangina Rd.
I was here 16 months ago and DNFed it then but I changed the frown to a smilie.
Cheers for the cache.

great day out caching today while getting a chance to catch up with some friends to do some planning, thanks for bringing me here, these roads are great to travel - sorry about the copy and paste
It took quite a while to spot this sneaky little blighter, but we got there in the end. It was a matter of looking for it at the right angle!
Thanks for putting this here for us to find.

I set off on an adventure of the Pohangina Valley with TwigNZ and ThatWeirdGuy04. There are some amazing views in this area and we had a great day.
Found it where we thought it should have been on our last visit 11 months ago. Thanks to the CO for replacing it.
Logs were signed as either Team TST or just TST depending on available space.

I can't believe it's been almost a whole year since I last visited the Pohangina Valley. The last time I was here was in the company of Stardust718 and ThatWeirdGuy04, and so it was again today, the plan being to travel up the West side of the valley (ZigZag Road and Ridge Road) and then return back down roads taken last year in order to have a chance to avenge some DNF's from that trip.
We had great weather for our caching day, with a weak winter sun doing its best to illuminate all the varied valley views we were treated to, and absolutely no wind at all. We also pretty much had the roads to ourselves, which made parking near all the caches so much easier.
This was one of the caches previously DNF'd by us 11 months ago, so we were keen to be able to set that right today. It was a quick find in the failing light as it was in the place we believed it was supposed to be from our last visit. The log was swiftly signed (as Team T.S.T or simply T.S.T depending on log space) and we were happy to be on our way again having converted the Blue Frown into a Yellow Smiley.
Thanks for placing this cache.

Disappointing not to find this one since the owner has recently replaced it. Had a good look, but where to find a nano here?
Hi Madge Family
This geocache was brought to my attention as being in need of an owner maintenance visit. The cache owner needs to check on this cache ASAP and either replace it or archive it, after picking up any geo-litter. See the [maintenance section of the Geocache Listing Requirements/Guidelines](http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx#listingmaintenance).
I've added this cache to my watchlist, and I will check back in four weeks to be sure that the maintenance has been done. In the meantime, I have temporarily disabled this listing. When the maintenance is completed, the owner can enable the listing by clicking on the link below the cache name to return it to active status.
Whatever your intentions, please **post a note** here on the cache page (not email) to let us know that you are still active and maintaining the cache. If a month passes without seeing a response, then I'll assume that this listing should be archived.
Please note, that if a cache is archived due to lack of owner maintenance, the cache is unable to be unarchived.

Today I was out caching with my son ThatWeirdGuy04 and one of my regular caching friends Stardust718, with the aim of travelling around the Pohangina Valley to attempt as many caches as we could manage in our day, concentrating on the Wildbore series but also stopping for any others along the way or else caught our fancy.
This was our sixth DNF for today. We had spotted the previous DNF's for this cache, but thought it was worth a quick look seeing as we were going to be driving right past it. In the end we found what we believed to be the location of the Hide, but no container.
I hope to return sometime in the future to have another look for this one.

Pretty confident we found the spot (as we've found a few of these in this series now) but no cache.
DNF after a quick look - may be because it is within sight of some nearby houses.

Was at home doing some work on the computer and was deciding on where to go and find some caches for the day, being ANZAC Day, I really didnt want to go out too early as the ceremonies were in full force all over the place and I really didnt want to cause myself any issues. So decided that I would start looking at going somewhere after 09:00 and in the end with the three new caches that were published the temptation was far too much for me to leave so it was time to make my way to Pohangina and see if I could score a couple of FTFs.
After finding GC39H34 - Branch Road Walkway (Manawatu), this was the next cache that I had on my list that I wanted to find today while I was in the area. I decided that I would try and find a safe parking spot not too far from GZ, and I knew where this cache was going to be as when I was here chasing a joint FTF I was advised by a previous finder as to where to go and look for this cache.
Arriving near GZ and managing to find a safe parking spot within 20 metres of GZ, it was a easy walk back to GZ, as I arrived at GZ, it was time to go and have a look at the most obvious spot, but after a short search in the obvious and then widening my location it was time to give it up.
Looks like that this cache may have gone for a short holiday, or might be missing.
Time to go back to the car and make my way to the next cache that I was looking for.....

Called here on a day drive from Wellington to find some more of the caches in the region. No luck here today - found the hint object but nothing on it or near it.
JENI JudeE Ethness Nosynel and InfoFerret are heading home today. We completed the shield yesterday and now we are having fun on the trip back.
Sadly there is no large event in New Zealand in 2019 but there are a few Mega events planned in Australia. I plan on going to the OzGeomuster in July. To find out more visit this site: https://www.ozgeomuster.com.au
If you can't make Aussie. New Zealand will have another large event in 2020 in Auckland. I will keep you posted in my logs.
Thanks for hiding this geocache.

bit of a geocaching weekend for us and at times we joined forces with other teams so logs have been signed either 2 Bulbars, 2x, bwx depending on how many in the team had signed the log before.
The weekend started midday Friday and finished about 6 pm sunday. We didn't go too hard and stopped for sleeps and good meals basing ourselves in Feilding . The weather was good all weekend although it did rain a little bit at night.
Many thanks to all the COs who placed these caches making it possipble for us to enjoy our hobby.
I must say sorry for all the cut and paste but if we really enjoyed a cache I will add a bit at the start of the comment so you don't need to read right through.
Thanks to our driver who supplied the car and the good person who put a thermos and a few snacks in the car for us so we could keep our strength up

Road trip time! This weekend Team BOP consisted of Davidson Clan, TNXPro, Squirrelnutcase, FapAndGap, McJandals, NZFlossy & myself. We'd had this trip on the cards for a while but only recently had we locked in all the details. We were off to central Manawatu and we had a very narrow list of ‘must gets’ so this trip was essentially a numbers mission. We had a great time and managed just over 200 finds. Most of the caches were found quickly and in good condition thanks to accurate coords and straight forward placements although we replaced a lot of logs and a few containers as well. A huge thank you to the CO’s as this was a beautiful area to visit and there was certainly an abundance of geocaches!!
Team BOP on tour in the Manawatu-Whanganui Region... With Gap (of Fap and Gap), (Mr) Davidson clan, McJandals, NZFlossy, Philip.Perry, and TNXPro.
This weekend had been in the pipeline for ages. It was always going to be a mission for various team members to get coordinated leave passes... We secured accommodation in the rural heart of the Manawatu. This placed us well within reach of a massive trail of caches... We travelled in one vehicle, so our journey was filled with lots of laughs, and good times... Fortunately, the majority of caches were in place and were fairly quick to locate - thanks to straightforward hints and great coordinates. Many of the caches had not been found in a while, so containers were waterlogged, and logbooks were wet... Thank goodness for waterproof paper. A huge thank you also, to the various COs who made our weekend worthwhile...
We were pleased to find this cunning blighter... TFTC.

Team BOP decided that with the MEGA rapidly approaching, we need to boost our numbers so we could try for a milestone number at the Mega. I am approaching my 3000th cache but was still about 325 caches away from that. Reaching the milestone may or may not happen, but this weekend certainly was about the numbers. I had an initial target I was trying to beat and that was my highest number of caches found in one day and we comfortably beat that, achieving 158 caches (subject to confirmation, once I log them all).
The best way to do the high numbers is with power trails and out here, there is a smorgasborg of powertrails.
We loaded up the van, gathered up all seven of us and headed to our accomodation somewhere in the middle of nowhere, getting there well after dark. The location was convenient, as it was right in the thick of a power trail territory.
There was no splitting us up, as we only had one vehicle, so we all experienced the cache locations, some beautiful and some not so.
As with powertails we have done in the past, there was a high proportion of waterlogged caches, but unlike powertails we have done previously, we managed to find every cache and were glad to be able to clear out an area. Also, with powertails, comes cut and paste logs, to which I apologise for.
Thanks to all those CO's who have placed the caches out there. Without you, our fun road trips wouldnt exist. We all had a thoroughly enjoyable weekend and got home completely shattered. It was so worth it.

ritaryanandjj did a more methodical search 2nd time around which paid off. We should've found it last time! Glad to tick this one off. TFTC
Agh ha - found reasonably quickly - can’t believe we didn’t find it last time. Sneaky wee hide, favourite point for that. TFTC.
Looked hard for this one and couldn't find it - we knew that it was a tricky one to find and we looked everywhere, we will be back to try and knock this one off when we come back for Wildbore 22 after doing our homework.
This was a tricky hide which evaded our desperate search to find. We'll find you on our next trip up the valley!
Didn't fully understand the hint until reading the cache description when logging
Harder find here but finally had log signed and returned. Great little hide

I received the notification for the new multi At about lunchtime. As a little thing called work was going on, I couldn’t rush out to search but kept checking on it throughout the afternoon. Due to working a longer day yesterday, I could leave earlier today and when the first to find hadn’t gone, I decided to head out this way.
De used to head here after the multi by the direct road that looked like a loop. Warning for future cachers that the road is washed out so you have to double back from the cemetery.
This one took a few minutes longer than the previous ones in this series. That’s a cheeky little hide! FP for that. TFTC

Another empty log on this great new series. Had a chat with a friendly local who was checking his cattle nearby. [FTF]
We were in Ashhurst this morning, so easily tempted out into our favourite valley for a few new caches, including the possibility of FTFs. We just had time to go straight along to Pohangina Village and back, so only sought (successfully) the five new caches along that route, and managed two FTFs as a bonus.
We particularly like caches that give some interesting local history and so were delighted to see more caches come up in the Wildbore series. These caches are providing great insights into early European settlement in the Pohangina Valley. Previously we have also studied the information and many photographs of Pohangina's early settler days that are displayed in the County Fayre tea-rooms in Pohangina Village. The Wildbore family and Charles Wildbore's photos feature prominently in that.
When we reached the village we continued on to the northern end first. Times have changed but the view shown in the photograph is easily recognisable here. Our GPSr was not particularly settled and it took a bit of searching before the cunning little hide was discovered. Found the FTF had gone, not much ahead of our arrival either we suspect. TFTC

TFTC
