Another JLWE wrapped up it was time to make our journey home using caches in the mallee as a general direction home including the silo art at Copeville and Galga.Continuing our NW journey, a quick find here for us todayTFTC Gizmo's Gang
To end a brilliant June Long Weekend event, we did some final few caches on the way home. TFTC!
The farmer was checking the bore as I arrived. I inspected the rock and plaque. He finished his duties and I had the place to my self. Time to find the cache. That was not boring at all.June Long Weekend. Lameroo, the heart of the mallee. GCAK1D5 Lameroo's Ludicrous Legwarmers. This year it is on and I am in South Australia. Thunderbirds are go. Pajeros are go.Friday was all about getting there and setting up camp.Saturday was place some caches and then head to Victoria.Sunday was game day. Lots of ludicrous fun.Monday was all about packing up and getting home. The King's birthday weekend in South Australia. But it is not his birthday. Charlie was born on the forteenth of November. It was not Liz's birthday either. That birthday was the twenty first of April. It is all a bit confusing. I will apologize right now, because everything from here on is here solely for the purpose of padding the word count and winning that one hundred word diamond badge again. Somebody moved the goal posts. So many caches to find. So many caches to log. We find them, sign them and replace them. This particular geocache was found using one of the following GPS enabled devices, Garmin GPSr, Montana 680t, Oregon 650 or Dakota 20 and an Apple iPhone 11 using the marvelous Cachly app. Waypoints and paperless geocaching were downloaded via GSAK 9. Log prepared, checked and submitted using GSAK publish logs macro.Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun. Apologies for the generic part of the cache log. We do apologise for the generic logs. Thanks to all the cache owner for placing this cache here for our enjoyment. Thanks for the cache. Merci la cache. Danke fr den Cache. Gracias por el cach. A quick stop and find here today on the back roads, cache is all goodThis weekend Courtneyrose_ and I headed to Lameroo for the annual June long weekend event, along the way we stopped to find a few caches as well as finding some in the local, the last day we detoured home by some more unfound caches. Thanks for the cache
In the heart of the small town of Nunkeri, where the eucalyptus trees whispered secrets to the wind and kangaroos bounded freely across the open plains, stood Nunkeri School. It was a quaint institution, its red-brick buildings adorned with ivy and its classrooms filled with the echoes of laughter and learning. But Nunkeri School had a secret that only a few intrepid souls knew abouta hidden geocache that had been placed there years ago, waiting to be discovered. It all began one sunny afternoon when Mr. Harris, the beloved history teacher, retired. As a parting gift, he left behind a mystery for his students. Mr. Harris was an avid geocacher, and his love for history and adventure inspired him to create a geocache that would challenge the minds and spirits of those who sought it.The first clue was simple enough: "Where history lives and stories thrive, find the book that brings the past alive." The students knew immediately that it was referring to the old library, a treasure trove of ancient texts and forgotten tales. Amidst the dusty shelves and the scent of aged paper, they found the book Mr. Harris had mentioneda hefty volume on local legends.Inside the book was a cryptic note: "Seek the tree that reaches for the sky, where time stands still and secrets lie." The students, now joined by their geography teacher, Ms. Blake, scoured the school grounds for the tallest tree. They found it near the sports fielda grand old eucalyptus that had stood there for centuries. Carved into its bark was an inscription: "Look beneath where roots entwine, the past and present intertwine."Digging carefully at the base of the tree, they uncovered a small, weathered box. Inside, they found an array of historical trinketsold coins, a compass, and a map. The map was the most intriguing piece, marked with an 'X' and a series of coordinates. Ms. Blake, who was as enthusiastic about geocaching as Mr. Harris, explained how to use the GPS coordinates to locate the next clue.Following the coordinates led them to the edge of the town, near the Nunkeri River. Here, the final clue awaited: "Where water flows and memories linger, find the cache with the heart of a singer." The students puzzled over the riddle until one of them remembered an old folk song about the river, often sung by the locals during festivals. They headed to the riverbank, where a large rock bore the carving of a musical note. Underneath the rock, they discovered a well-hidden container. Inside, they found a logbook filled with entries from past finders, along with a small treasurea beautifully crafted music box that played the very song mentioned in the clue. The discovery of the geocache was a moment of triumph and joy for the students. They felt a profound connection to Mr. Harris and the rich history of their town. The geocache became a symbol of adventure, learning, and the enduring bonds of their school community. From that day on, Nunkeri School's geocache became a tradition. Each year, new students would embark on the same journey, following the clues and uncovering the hidden treasures of their school. The legacy of Mr. Harris lived on, inspiring generations to explore, learn, and cherish the wonders of Nunkeri. And so, in the heart of Nunkeri, where history lived and stories thrived, the spirit of geocaching continued to flourish, bringing joy and discovery to all who sought it.Come visit SA's longest running annual event -keep the Long weekend free- June 2025 Can't wait!!2456
TFTC. After hiding our JLWE caches for game day we went out to collect local caches!Happy caching and safe travels!
We're heading to Adelaide and grabbing a few caches along the way. This one was a quick find, and we were relieved to jump back into the air-conditioning.. whew.. It's hot out here.
Adelaide and train trip Day 14. Travel Blackwood to Hay via Karoonda, Pinnaroo and Ouyen. Eventually this time away has come to an end and it is time to head home. I chose a bit of a zig zag route through the Mallee country to visit some new bits of road and some new caches in main road towns. I did a few caches around Sherlock first before heading to Karoonda to fix up an old log and finish a multi I started earlier in the year. Next was a back road run to Pinnaroo via some old school caches. From Pinnaroo it was a straight run the Hay for a great night. I took a bit of a detour heading directly west from Karoonda to visit as many caches as I could along the way to Pinnaroo. Each was found without any issues. Thanks for the cache Gizmo's Gang44754.10 TNLNVisited: World Traveling Gold GC A#6 & 2009 Compass Rose Silver Matt A#159**Albida**
Was being taxi for Don't Panic Arthur at The Bend today and made good use of the time between drop off and pick up by adding to my smilie count from the surrounding area. Made sure I got the twelve new Wandering Heroes that had appeared since my last taxi duties and found quite a few others as well. This was one of 36 for the day.
Another one with lots of history and an interesting story.

Out early for a spot of caching. Wasn't sure how well the gravel roads would hold up now with a bit of rain, surprisingly well! Cache found in an appropriate spot, cache all good, had a few visitors of late. TFTC Gizmo's Gang

We do enjoy the way in which the existence of former schools are celebrated in South Australia. Schools are the lifeblood of small rural communities and there is always the possibility that when they close that their contribution to community life can be forgotten. So when we notice one in our travels, we like to visit. Accurate coordinates led to a quick find. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks Gizmo's Gang for the cache.
It amazes me how many schools there was back in the day. I’m surprised that more didn’t become homes after they were no longer used for education.
After a most relaxing couple of days on the Proud Mary cruising on the river, it was time to track down some caches. But first an overnight stay in Karoonda to recharge for an early start and then head off on another adventure.
The plan is to grab caches in the last few LGA for me to complete that challenge.

Today we moved our camp from Loxton to Karoonda doing a few caches as we traveled down the road. On arrival at Karoonda we were greeted with strong cold winds, what a change from Loxton. We stopped by our cache
Wandering Heroes - SA Friendly Cachers - GC3EFAG we would like to thank the person who has done maintenance since the last time we were able to pop by and replace the container.
While in town we had a fantastic tour around the town bought to us by the local A/L, we have seen these features before but it was wonderful to refresh our memories. We only came across one crappy bit of dirt road but how else would we know how good the rest of the dirt roads that we travelled on were otherwise.
We found the co-ords to be more than satisfactory and all caches were in good condition and did not need any maintenance.

Nice family walk to find this one. Container is falling apart so may need to replace!
Had an early morning start to the day with a trip into the city from the Hills to attend 'For the Early Birds! #20' and 'CITO Regency Park Wetlands'. Headed back up to Bridgewater to pick up e.gregory1 for a caching foray in the Murraylands to find the caches in the Lowan Conservation Park, up to Goondooloo and out to Copeville, Perponda and Borika, then to Marama and the periphery of Karoonda before finishing with the CITO at Tailem Bend. Thanks for the cache Gizmo's Gang!
A big day’s caching today, beginning with the early morning event at Mile End and the CITO at Regency Park. Then it was out east of Murray Bridge for the main part of the day to find a selection of Traditional, Mystery and Multi caches with FeatherWaite before ending up at Tailem Bend later in the afternoon for another CITO.
The weather was kind to us, with a lovely sunny, calm and not too hot day. Just perfect for caching!
We found all but one of the caches we targeted and all in all it was a very enjoyable and productive day (from a geocaching perspective at least!).
Thanks Gizmo's Gang for the cache.

School was out. I always love trying to imagine what it was like. The gums usually outline the yard or playing areas. This was in the days before risk of falling limbs was really considered....
Thanks to Gizmo's Gang and **clear skies** from TeamAstro. [^] Cache the planet! [^]
Out for a couple of days of caching with Astro to clear up Wandering Heroes and the Around the World in 81 Caches series.
We met up with EGregory1 and Featherwaite to do he Around the World series.
Another I wouldn't have visited without geocaching.

The second day of caching either side of the border track near Pinnaroo, this time focusing on the Victorian side, targeting a few specific caches. Our main target for the day was to do Dessert Penguin and Mesa Rocks and then any other potential caches we had time for. It was a pleasant, all be it long hike into the main caches, though the views at both GZ’s made it all worth it. Logs were stamped and information for the earth cache was collected and we proceeded to make our way back out. We ended up having time for a few more caches on the way out, bust as it got dark we made our way back home, after a long day.
