I had set out to find the nearby "Workout 202" multi cache. While I waited for an answer to my plea for help, I stomped up the hill to get this geocache. I smiled when I saw it - I love a good Tankengine geocache Always so reliable. And it was nice to sign a fresh log and pick up the geocoin! Then it was off down the hill to find the next one...

This one was supposed to be our reward find on the way back to the car…after all, its D/T rating was quite low.
Weariness, heat… whatever…we took ages to find this one.
Finally!
Thanks Tankengine

The Dog and I enjoyed a series of shot walks in the scrub around QBN and Jerrabomberra thismorning. These two caches off Wickerslack Lane were our last stop - the new fence is quite extensive (there's a few of these over-fenced areas in this area) and I parked a little way up the hill to make our access easier.

A short walk in to GZ where the cache was found in a likely spot after a short search. Cache and log are in very good condition.

Thanks, Tankengine!

Last to the site but first to the cache. Just like orienteering, a clear case of the tortoise and the hare! Out for a couple of geos with geo-grandson and Muggle daughter. Thanks for this - I enjoyed.

Took the scenic route in (aka bush bashed) which made things quite challenging. Quite a few options at GZ, but made the find eventually.

Fun ramble and a nice explore of an area we didn't know existed. Sunburn territory!

22-Jun-20
A nice an easy cache here, a little bit unexpected but appreciate it nonetheless as we didn't have a huge amount of time before other duties called Big Grin

Parked near a gate, that was useless as someone has torn down the fence next to it, and it seems lots of people have been driving in here..... not us though, we were happy to walk!

Stepped off the main track and onto the track that led to this cache.

Thanks Tankengine

I was out in Queanbeyan due to yet another visit to the workshop for my caravan. I did not let that stop me getting out for a drive and a few walks for some caches. I started with a loop on Mt Jerrabomberra and then headed down to the river for a few caches along it. My last cache was in the new suburb Googong, and wow hasn't that come along.

I headed into the wood for two caches on a longish loop. The thick tea-tree scrub was a bit annoying at times, but I found the cache without any problems.

Thanks.

20,154. Found during a south side meander before this afternoon's CITO event.

With most of the day up my sleeve I was going to target a bunch of caches on the other side of the river, but access is very difficult at the moment (I discovered the hard way) due to the bypass roadworks, so a quick plan B was put into action. I parked on Wickerslack Lane for the easy walk in to this cache. Spotted as it was uncovered. A quick sign, replaced and covered, and continued on to the next one. And yep not a Wolf to be seen...

Thanks Tankengine !!

Cache 5574 on 30 Nov 2019.

A plan was hatched to head out to Googong this morning to grab a couple of newer Tankengine caches with TikvaNZ and Fox in Jox. Even though the smoke was a turn-off, we ploughed on, and I ended up getting 7 Tankengine caches and a spare one on the way home! We got rained on on our way up the hill, which was lovely, and my car got a bit of off-road dust!

This cache: drove a bit closer to this one before going bush and finding the cache in the expected place!

Thanks Tankengine for the cache and the fun!

Had some time to spare while kids had an appointment so went for a drive to collect some caches, didn’t mean to end up here but hit a maze of road works and ended up this way so I decided to pull over and go for a short stroll to find this one. Took a little searching but spotted a familiar tell sign of a tankengine cache. Surprised to see some familiar names had signed the logbook the same day, must have just missed them. Thanks for the cache tankengine, 101 for me, on my way to 300.

A quick pick up on our way to the trail road nearby to cycle to 'Cool Caves'. Quick and easy find. TFTC Tankengine.

**This Cache**
Beautiful location and lovely views. We started with a late lunch directly above GZ with glorious views over the Queanbyan River - see photos. We knew that this cache was not a walk in the park as one of us would need to do some caving but it turned out much more trouble than we anticipated.

That said, if the next person does this cache within the next 12 months then they will not need to cut their way through blackberries to enter the caves to gather data - see before and after photos.

Also, we twice crawled to Just 1m of the end of the tunnel looking for data. At this point we could see that a wombat had started digging a tunnel in the tunnel thereby burying data we required. We knew this after we made our 'emergency' call to the CO who, as always, graciously answered. He confirmed that the data was now probably buried and gave us the numbers we needed.

However, that was not before we tried guessing two possible (obvious?) sets of numbers it could be but failed to find the cache at either locations. We also knew that the attributes indicated that the cache was much much further than our coordinates so it was only going to be a guessing game from here on.

Many, many thx to the CO for assisting us. Also a favourite point (next time we earn one) for the adventure, the views and a well thought out cache. GZ was equally interesting and gave us a good laugh given we came the long way around to pick up the data and then had even further to go to pick the cache but we did that bit later by car as light was fading. TFTC Tankengine.

**Our Day**
We had a fabulous morning mountain bike riding around a small part of the forest to collect Tankengine's 'Falldowns Filter' series.

Having collected the first lot of caches relatively quickly we decided to head for Karabar with the multi 'Cool Caves' the main target. We approached this cache via Wickerslack Lane so that we could cycle in.

The access way via Barracks Flat Dr. appears to be now blocked off as is Edwin Land Parkway due to construction. Via Barrack Flat Dr. there is now a house under construction with only a walking trail now accessible further down the road and the other place there is an expressway under construction. Although we picked up 3 caches 98% of the time was looking for the Cool Caves data and cache.

This afternoon jaunt took 2.5 hours for a cycle/walk for a distance of 5kms and total ascent/descent of 169m. Yep, another energetic day enjoying life thanks to all those who place and maintain caches.

Whilst I have driven out on the lane way before I had never ventured into the reserve .
Was expecting a steep descent at some stage but was surprised by the easy going walk assisted by a cool breeze.
Nice views across the valley at GZ and the cache found , signed and replaced .
Many thanks to Tankengine for the bush walk and valley views.

G'day, Tankengine. Today I felt like an adventure. Even though it was raining. But never mind, I picked a big gap in the rain, and set out with the four GeoMongrels that belong to me and my partner. I picked this one because I wanted to explore the area, and it was relatively close to the road, in case of rain. Armed with four dogs, an umbrella and my trusty GeoGPSr, off I went. It was a very nice walk, with the dogs having a really good time. Nice cache. Thanks, mate.

A nice little walk up the hill to find this cache. Good to be on a sandy track.

Thanks,

When I arrived I noticed a number of signs on the fence and access point.
After due consideration I decided that it referred to the activities listed in the sign and did not apply to geocachers. Pleasant walk and soon found. TFTC.

Headed out to Wickerslack to do a check on my own in the area so figured I'd pick this one up along the way.

*FTF* 1.20pm. I had watched the few new caches come through this morning but with a house full of 15yo boys over for my sons birthday sleepover still, and perhaps I could have used the excuse to leave, I did the right thing and stayed! Of course by the time I got around to even looking at them, and then solving I just didn't get a look in on those new puzzles before the ftfer snapped them up! Wink With the US trip coming up soon and a jam packed next week or so, a ftf was very much sort for my August stats or I did fear it might be lost.

So, when this one came out and we were in the general area it was too tempting to not leave where we were! Oh, and I was quite persuasive... Come on guys, it will be fun! (cue the sound of moans and groans, add eye rolls! He!He!) Well it wasn't such a long drive but with enthusiasm levels about the same as a visit to the dentist it took a little while to warm them into it and get back to the car but in the end they did enjoy the short walk together as a family through to the cache and being out in the area.

I have been down this road before but never into the woods, lots of trails leading through which made the short walk through the light and occasionally prickly bush an easy enough walk, and the views off across into the distance quite nice in places! Was a nice sunny day to be outside and was very pleased for the opportunity to get out together as a family but also to have that ftf of the month safely secure to keep that streak alive. Thanks for the cache Tankengine, ended up being a nice little side trip to our day.
