Cool place that I had no idea was here. MrMagoo72 and I had driven up observatory hill and saw that there was a cache down this way so came down to explore. What a surprise to see the wheel. Thanks for bringing us here - one of the things I like about geocaching is the things it show you. A quick find with the hint. TFTC.

07-Jan-23
Found with StreetWalkerNZ as we travel home to Christchurch and our last cache find of the trip.
We had failed to find this cache on a previous visit to Oamaru, it turned out it was missing so we thought we'd detour past and hopefully turn the frown into a smile.
Phew, found and signed. The second frown turned upside down today in Oamaru, unfortunately we couldn't make it three Sad. Thanks for replacing and TFTC.

25-Jun-20
Gave this a really good try with three of us searching. Had no luck here, really think this has gone. The wheel was worth seeing anyway.

25-Jun-20
This has not been found for a while and is in a prime spot for someone to lay a cache. 3 of us joined the others to NOT find a cache. Really think this has gone with no CO maintenance.

17-Feb-20
Both my and My.Precious's mob ph GPS couldn't agree on location, but finally they co-operated and lead us to a site that looked promising, unfortunately we DNF. Lovely old bit of history in the restored wheel. Thanks for leading us here. Maybe next time.

Down from Palmy, back in my hometown for Christmas & out geocahcing my sister lunar24. We used to live at the top of Old Mill Road on Eden St so this area is an old stomping ground. As young kids we would bike down the once gravel road and ride on the BMX track. And (gasp) climb to the top of the wheel! I enjoyed following updates about the restoration. Unfortunately we couldn't find the cache today. Hopefully we'll find it before heading back up north!

19-Oct-19
A nice quick find today. Cheers.

Seems like forever since we have been to Oamaru, This weekend fixed that!

Thanks to all CO's for placing and maintaining their caches. Cheers

Had a fun day visiting the Steampunk festival in town. Then one of the muggles on board wanted to check out a care home a relative was going to be moving to soon. As they took a look around I played at the observatory and checked out the app to see what caches could be found on the way home.
A freshly done up parking area, new fence and fresh grass seeds.

This is day four of a ten day trip down to Dunedin and back to move my daughter to Dunedin so she can get her master’s degree at Otago University.

I am now on the road heading north. I don’t need to make too many miles, so I can concentrate on a few caches.

I liked the work they did to restore the wheel. I wish we could get closer to it. TFTC.

Good to see the wheel back but a bit rusty at finding caches.

30-Sep-18
Just discussed yesterday how saturated the Urban are was, but evidently not when a space like this is identified by the Master.
Saw it published and thought I had to bring my visit to view the wheel foward,
Not only saw the resurrected wheel (great to see) I gained a FTF as a bonus!
Thanks
