This was one of the randomly chosen caches selected to do today and didn't it prove to be a tricky one!!We actually felt like we were parked on private property so Mr Beetle stayed in the van while I walked to GZ.Struggled with the coordinates but a geotrail looked like the most likely place for it to be. I searched high and low and went much deeper in to the scrub than I needed to but I could not find the cache. I eventually gave up and had just started to walk back when I saw Mr Beetle heading my way.So back we went and of course that's when I finally found it! Mr Beetle reckons I wait until he gets there to find them!! There is no truth in this but it does seem to often happen that way.The log sheet was very wet but still quite signable. Thanks Saltie.
On the Third of October 2018 I placed this guy, gee that is four or five years ago, time flies. This cache along with over a hundred and fifty others have been adopted out to other folk who I hope are happy to look after these guys as the ageing Bushfire has developed a health problem that will only get worse so a big thanks to all these great friends. Finally, I must thank my good friend Saltie for looking after this guy as it has got to the stage when I must pass it on and wish it good luck for the future. I know it is in good hands. Thanks for all the great logs that have been placed over many years.
*log wet!
Oh that one nearly had us but Geohubby didn’t give up, & suddenly yelled ‘got it’! Good hide with all the growth. TFTC. ps wear long pants!

I don't have my gumboots on me and the Trail is just a little bit too boggy for the Runners so I'm abondoning the search and headed back to the car and probably making my road trip back home to Corryong thank you for the placement even though I didn't get there
After ducking and weaving and trying to stay out of sight from the golfers, I finally had the cache in hand. Cache was full of water but the log was signable.
Thanks for the hide

I came to realise I haven't filled out my calendar yet. Worse, December/January is very sparse. I was on patrol at Bancoora today, so thought I'd grab this one as to remove a donut from my score card.
Thanks heaps, Bushfire!
Thanks heaps, Bushfire!
Still intact. Lovely spot, lived in Ocean Grove my whole life and never knew you could get down here.
Checked cache and all good but will visit again soon to effect better waterproofing but log is water resistant so all good
Thank Bushfire for your help

Too wet with a big puddle in the area after heavy rain recently. Lots of prickles in the grass on the way.
The sun was shining and we had a few hours of daylight left so we decided to go out caching.
Looked around and around for this for one until BAM! Cache in hand! Thanks Bushfire for bringing us here

This one stumped us today! Could not fine, despite lots of rummaging in the bushes.
Drive past this way all the time but never thought about turning down this road, nice little area and some friendly chooks where the car was parked. TFTC

Lunch in Torquay and a few caches on the scenic drive back to Melbourne. A nice looking farm near GZ, pretty sure it would be duck central in the right season. Thanks for the cache Bushfire!

We had been defeated by this cache in the past, carrying only souvenirs of burrs and mozzie bites. But today we had the time for a thorough search, starting along the fence line and gradually working our way down to the path. In the end it was easier than we thought - much bigger than a bison. Think the frost helped keep all the carnivores away! TFTC
The Lake Murtnaghurt cache almost hurt me in pride as I circled around and followed a number of geotracks. It was damp as recent rain - still raining so can’t imagine this as a dry lake today.
Thanks Bushfire for another challenge.
After letting compass settled a newer area was checked with vegetation pushed aside gently - Ah there was the little camouflaged bugger ! All dry here and log signed. wow the sun came out !

My good friends Ski Pair were heading down to Geelong for a few days and invited Me to join them, who could resist being chauffeured around and the company and laughs are always good. We had a great time touring the area discovering new locations while finding caches, We even managed dinner with Suscoe and Busfire.
This is one of the caches we found for the week. Another sneaky hide Mr Bushfire.

Another evil hide by a sneaky CO. Why do we hope for something straightforward? You would think we should know by now it's not going to happen!
We decided to take it easy today and only do a few caches. That fell apart quickly as SKI Pair find it very hard to drive past any caches that pop up on the screen. Luckily although its cold today, it wasn't too wet after the early rain. We are wearing our waterproof shoes and have the rain coats on hand to stop the wind driving thru us. It seems to double the coldness factor down here close to the sea.
We have learnt over the past weeks that the Bellarine Peninsula has quite a variety of cache hides. We have found simple and straight forward caches, some that make us work a bit for the find, and some diabolical hides that have us questioning the parentage of the CO (We're particularly looking at you Bushfire!). However we are having such a great time that we have decided to extend our stay for a few more days in the hope that we will finally be able to get the bikes out and get stuck ito some of the rail trails. Thank you to all of the CO's for their hides, we really appreciate your efforts (yes, even the diabolical ones!)

We were out taking the largest geodog to the vet, or her weekly check up on her broken foot. Everything is healing well, and the pins have stopped migrating. While we were out, we decided to pick up a few caches. This was the first cab off the rank. Whenever we see the name Bushfire, we now to expect something a little different, and we were not disappointed. We looked high and low, and as the GPS was bouncing around like a pinball, we knew we were in the right general vicinity. We were about to give up, and then we found it. It was extremely well camouflaged and another different container. The cache was nice and dry, in excellent condition. Thank you, Bushfire, for this cache.
Out for a drive trying to practice some self care. Was nice to be distracted for a while searching for this very tough cache. Never been here before. Thanks Bushfire.
After my last trip when the weather and mozzies beat me I returned today and removed the old container and replaced with a new one and a brand new log so we will see if this is better than the last container.
Had to tip water out of the container but the log book was still nice and dry. Really nice spot, always wondered what was down this road. Tftc
After a note to tell me that the log was damp I called in here to check on my last trip to this great area only for the heavens to open up and because of the heavy rain I decided to give it a miss.
Back today and no signs of rain I wandered along to the GZ area and found that the cache container was not only damp but half full of water after some heavy rain recently.
Having a new container with new log I tried to place it beside the old guy but it was not to be as when I cut the cable tie the new cache disappeared into the tall grass in the area so replaced the wet log and left t for another day.
All good until the next trip to Barwon heads.

After looking for about 25mims, eaten by mozzies, pricked by box thorn and leaving with wet shoes. This was not a catch for us today
On arrival the heavens opened up so decided not to check it out so it is on the list for the next trip down here after our lockdown has finished. I was going to change the log but next time.
Sneaky! Really nice spot, driven past a lot but never been down this road
Nice to get away from suburbia to beat around the bush for more than a bit, but eventually before we froze in the wind the cache was in hand.
The day turned out to be a good one when the fog lifted ........ eventually. So it was decided to go out and do a bit of caching with ilook4geo even while it was still foggy. We found a variety of cache types and various hides, which was enjoyable. It was only a short walk to find this hidden cache and the log was soon signed with both names. All was then put back as it was found. Thanks go to Bushfire for placing this cache.
A good day to go out caching with goingplaces2, do we did. This was one of the caches we had on the list to do. Found this cache OK. TFTC.

After not a lot of caching recently today we ventured out to fill that final hole in our found date calendar. Here was our first stop. B & C left the car and ventured to gz. After a bit of searching we read some recent logs and had a brief chat with CO and there it was. Confirmed log was ever so slightly damp but not sufficiently so to be of concern.
Thanks Bushfire for placing this Small Traditional - this is find 1887 for BFMC

As I had an appointment for mid morning we headed out to this cache early, silly thing to do as it had just rained and the surrounding grass was wet wet wet. We circled and went back over where we had looked and found the little sucker, it will not be long before the undergrowth covers this cache completely. The co-ords are good so that always helps. A tired and worn out anikano wanted to go out hiking today but body said no. After moving house, assignments at uni, stress at work and more, a relaxing day of strolling was called for. Luckily there are plenty of local caches to keep a young lass busy in her new suburb. Love little spots like this! Amazing how many unique little places are right on our doorstep, unknown and untouched by most. A relatively quick find at GZ although logbook was wet so may be hard to see my mark. Thanks for showing me this place bushfire!
Found this the other day and forgot to log. Took a while to work out which direction to come in at but eventually got there. Didn’t know this little spot existed. TFTC
Today Family Perpetuallylost continued with some more caching around Barwon Heads then heading clockwise around the peninsula finishing up at Portarlington where the Celtic festival was in full swing.
Thank heavens for the hint on this one or i might have been here all day. Interesting location, not many birds about but lots of golfers! Cheers again.

Ditto to all previous logs about mozzies and sticky thorny things. Poked around for a while before spying the little fella hanging from a branch. Tip for young players: shake a branch and see what wobbles! TFTC.
This lake is a rare sight for me and likely anyone from the High Country. Took a bit of fossicking and circling as the GPS was erratic. TFTC
We’re are staying in Ocean Grove for 6 days and decided to head to Barwon Heads for a day of caching. This was first on our list, being the furtherest away so we could work our way back to OG. JMelb couldn’t pronounce the name of the Lake so she called it Lake MeetnGreet!! We made this cache into a higher terrain than it is but eventually GMelb changed spots and found the cache. Lake was looking pretty dry around the edge and we couldn’t tell if the middle had water or it was just a sandy colour which sometimes water can be.

Another, rather unexpected, fine day sees us geocaching yet again. Stood & watched a couple of golfers hit off the 18th before hunting. Took us a minute or two to find this well hidden cache.
We hadn't been caching for a while. So, decided today (before the heat arrives tomorow) would be a good opportunity. That, and the promise of fish n chips for lunch in Barwon Heads ticked all my boxes.
Great location Laurie. Not sure I'm too keen on the massive burrs which to delight in attaching themselves to everything imaginable Must be the season LOL
Lake was very dry. Be careful of the box-thorns buried in the undergrowth. Good place for wellington boots or work boots.
TFTC Bushfire and your maintenance. All good at GZ.

Left the Xmas party before these caches were released so returned on a calm and peaceful day to claim some Xmas caches. This one was guarded by some mossies, and lots of prickly seeds that attached themselves to my socks. Merry Christmas. TFTC
Suscoe decided to head out for a pleasant Sunday morning drive today and the Barwon Heads area was our caching destination.
It was a warmish start to the day with a bit of high cloud and some sunshine after another night of rain at times.
We detoured off the Barwon Heads Road down the lane towards the lake.
Parking at the end it was a short walk to GZ.
The mozzies were in big numbers and they were inclined to be in search of blood. Some insect repellent of intense strength is advised as some of these mozzies could carry a fully grown cow away without too much fuss.
A quick find and sign with very good co-ordinates here today.
Not much water in the lake.
A few golfers enjoying the day.
Thanks to Bushfire for showing us this place. We have never turned down this road before, glad we did today.

In Geelong today with 08151605, Feathertop and 6hinemoa2 attending the annual Christmas invasion. Signed as a team cache 608SF to avoid the logs running out too quick.
A short walk whilst stomping on the ground to avoid anything wriggly. Met up with Phetlern, Alansee and Muzza just as we had found the cache. Thanks Bushfire

An interesting read on the cache page and an interesting tour of the area so that we could access the cache. It was such a friendly place that it even shared its grass seeds with those that ventured there.
We signed in as 608SF. We met Phetlen, Muzza and Alansee while walking to GZ but of course we parted ways after that.

Another freshly published cache thst we were a little too slow in getting too. We ot only encpuntered SteMicMitSar and one half of The_Tritonz at the closest parking but another couple of teams at GZ! Still a very pleasant walk to be had and a fairly quick find here.
While attending the Christmas in Geelong annual Lunch Event the also annual publications of some new caches nearby the event send many scurrying to grab a few of the elusive first to finds. We had already grabbed a few but this one had already been visited by the time we arrived. We did however manage to pick up some unwanted extras while heading to and from this cache (Some kind of flower seed prickles. My socks were covered with them).
we did manage to grab the smiley which we were very grateful for.
Thank you Bushfire for all the work you put into making the day a success.

*8 Dec 2018, Found @ 1:23 pm, Find # 8609.*
Once again at a Bushfire Christmas event near the end of the event the gathering spread out far and wide as there where a few new caches to find.
After the first find near the event, I then headed out with Chris (The_Tritonz) and Flynn23010,
seeing that we were behind the 8 ball on the previous find, we decided to go a bit further out to this one to try our luck and the plan worked.
We arrived at the carpark and found no cars, we then made our way to GZ, shortly after Chris made the find, we then discovered that no one else had been here so we signed in and made our way back to the car as car loads of people were arriving.
**Thanks to Bushfire for placing this cache.**

It's starting to feel a lot like Christmas!
The Wyndham Lights (GCHB4Y) are twinkling, Geelong's Christmas tree is afloat, a great opportunity to catch-up, chat, and of course do some caching during the 6th Geelong Christmas Geo-festivities.
After the lunchtime fun joined many others in the hunt for some newly published caches.
Thanks to 'Bushfire' for placing this cache on the geo-gameboard.

Going for the furtherest {FTF} potential with Flynn230103 and stemicmitsar we headed out to the unusual lake and made a quick find. As we were leaving the horde of cachers started arriving but were disappointed on realising the FTF was gone.

After the nearby event I was out and about with Happy Feet and omegaman collecting some caches when this was published. Arrived here to realise we had missed the FTF by seconds as that group was just emerging from the bush as we approached. and a large contingent arrived as we were signing the log TFTC and introducing me to this wetland Bushfire
After the new caches were released I jumped in a car with Sorceysal, 6Hinemoa2 and 0813...driving. We signed all logs as 086SF to save space. Had a great time driving around town and surrounds with lots of laughs and nice easy hides.
The last of the series and tricky to get to if you try and access from the golf course...which is quite the wrong way to go!
Thanks Bushfire for these.

Another procession to this cache and some seeds to boot, but this one is crossed off.
After a failed attempt at FTF on another cache we targeted this one down. A promising look when we arrived close to GZ, no cars in sight. That lake doesn't look pleasant to swim in! We walked down the path and it was The_Tritonz that spotted the cache for a joint (FTF). As we were moving back along the path another set of cachers were walking along, and even more cars were coming up the long road. Thanks for the adventure Bushfire!
After attending the 6th Annual Geelong Christmas Event, I joined Alansee and a few others to search nearby caches. Travelling here with Phetlern, there was another car or cachers arriving at the same time. Nice quick find on this one.
