Mrs Gunnie and I never intended to visit here today, but as it turned out we took a detour on the way home to check this place out. Very pleased we did. [^]

I knew there were a couple of caches out here, but had no idea where and I had no phone coverage to find out once we hit the car park. Ah well, guess I won't be getting them will I. Twisted

We wandered aloong the path and I found myself scanning for geotrails as I walked. Iwas never going to find any though. It was only on the return journey I noticed something that was out of the ordinary so I mived in, inspected a couple of things and quickly had this container in hand. Well, what d'ya know I said... Big Grin

Sadly, I had no pen and found myself back where I started and not being able to log. A couple of muggles passed by, so I let them head to their final destination, than headed there myself to ask if they hapenned to have a pen. I sure do came a response, much to my delight.

So, a lucky find and lucky lend of a pen, enough to tick this one off. With no detail on the other nearby icon, that went unfound.

Cheers Cairnsaanite.

Quick find with a good hint, tftc!

24-Sep-20
Yay! Our 3rd find. The hint definitely helped! Container only had a tiny log inside, nothing to swap. Great hiding spot!

21-Sep-20
This is a most fantastic spot!!! So we glad we made the time to squeeze in a visit to Babinda into the itinerary. This place is so worth it! Thanks for the cache here . No reception of course but I’d read the hint so knew where to look.

I wasn’t planning on coming this far north and certainly wasn’t going to do this cache, but it ended up being one of the most interesting adventures of my long day. I started after the sun had gone down so it was very dark before i headed out to the hide. The waypoints and the original coords for this didn’t look to promising but if you can’t follow that hint, you shouldn’t try any mystery caches. Having to use torchlight to walk through the rainforest allowed you to concentrate on sounds and narrowed my focus to the flora, all the varieties that use each other for a hitch up to get as much light as the can. The vines clinging and climbing their way to the canopy. I switched my torch off a few times to just watch the fireflies dance around each other in the air while listening to the constant flow and falling of the water over the boulders. At night the water looks like a foreboding place, No wonder the legend of the boulders warns others from entering. The cache itself was easy enough to find, but so was the native wildlife. Several marsupial species and native rodents came out alongside the path as well as native frogs . Will be back one day to climb the mountain and view this place in the sunlight. It certainly was interesting enough in the evening.
On the way back i did find a path that actually lead up to the roadside on the way down to the carpark which cuts off a fair distance to get to the viewing platform and cache. The entry point was S 17 20.585 E 145 52.365 but as i though about it, why would you bother. Thanks for the cache. Nice placement Cairnsaanite. Enjoyed the experience

Found 1:07 pm with partner. We are visiting Cairns and have friends here and as usual I am keen to add some more caches to my find list. Off to explore the area and of course the boulders is a must see. The hint helps so much. Unfortunately the cache is wet and the log pretty much wet and soggy. Can’t write anything so took a photo to log. I didn’t have really the time to try to dry out a bit bit any paper for a new log sorry. Perhaps another cacher can. My partner won’t quite tolerate sitting there for a while whilst I clean it up. Now off to explore more. Returned the cache to its hiding spot.
Thanks for the cache.

We parked in the nearby carpark and followed the bitumen path to the hide. We used the coordinates as suggested by Muff1 in her log and had no issues with arriving at the correct location.
The log is saturated and impossible to write on. We did take a photo of the cache, log and GPS which we will attach.
Thanks for the excuse to make the pilgrimage to visit the Babinda Boulders area. We did spend some time and visited several of the viewing areas.

Found it! Loved the location of this cache! TFTC

27-Jan-20
As it is a hot humid day we were very grateful for the shade of the trees as we found our way to GZ. OK, we have reached the final platform and our GPS tell us we have 31 meters to go. So we head down under the platform thinking
that there must be a path 'down there' somewhere, nope.
Next thought was that maybe the cache was under the platform, it was mentioned that we would need to climb a few steps when leaving. Nothing to be found under the viewing platform.
We then paid our attention to the next section of the path heading back towards the car park the GPS is now reading 51 meters to the cache, fully understanding that the terrain here is probably playing havoc with the GPS. Here we found the cache, we use a Garmin 650T for navigation and here the GPS told us the co-ords were S17 20.673 E145 52.349, we are not saying that these co-ords will work for everyone.
We left a pathtag for the next finder. The cache is in good condition.

Wow, amazing place for sunset, we loved the light of the setting sun in the rainforest. Hard to imagine what it is like here during wet season, we'll have to return to see.
Had to wait for a while for all the muggles to disappear after sunset. Found cache okay and easy thanks to hint.

The Rats and mini rats have just returned from an amazing 6-week adventure to Cape York. Along the way we had time to stop and grab a big handful of caches, some of our finds were in the remotest parts of Australia. Thanks to all the cache owners for placing your cache, you've all contributed to us having a great holiday. Apologises for the generic log.

I was contemplating a swim near GZ but with so many warning signs we got the cache and were on our way.

Without the hint we would have been helpless. Our gps and map had it 25 meters on the other side of the lookout. Since there were no stairs and no path going that way we looked about for clues irrespective of the coordinates. Soon enough we found four places for covers on some stairs. Three without and one with. Soon enough we had the prize. Beautiful spot. Enjoying our day in tropical northern qld on our holiday from Brisbane to Cairns. TFTC and the souvenir smiley!

We took a photo of us holding the cache container, the log was very mushy and we couldn’t sign. A fun hide, amusing to think of so many muggles stepping straight past it. A beautiful location which we look forward to swimming at in the summer. Thanks for the cache.

Found today on our way back to Townsville after a trip to the Tablelands and chasing waterfalls, swimming wherever we could and grabbing a few caches along the way.

This one ticked off all 3 boxes ! We walked down to the end of the path and admired the falls/gorge, which was running pretty well and found this on the return. Some muggles came around the bend just as I was fully committed to retrieving the cache, but they didn't really pay much attention. Nice hide.

Cache is sodden inside and log could do with replacing.

Thanks for the cache

Hunted this one down in the tail end of Cyclone Trevor. A very wet day brightened by a nice cache Smile Left a shiny UK coin to show how far we had come!

First time exploring these tropics and visiting the Great Barrier Reef. We picked up the motorhome in Cairns, and after looking at the weather radar changed our plans, heading down to Townsville and the Whitsundays first to avoid the massive downpours predicted in a few days. Our timing worked well, as we left the area just as the floods developed and the roads were being closed. Back in 'drier' Cairns we then finished off the holiday exploring the northern areas.

We just flew into Cairns this morning, and first stop was this Devil's Pool.
A very enjoyable walk despite the heavy rain.
Thanks, Cairnsaanite.

Good reason to return to the Boulders. The swimming hole has had an upgrade since last here, the walk to GZ was enjoyable. Along the creek and in the shade of the rainforest.
A bit of confusion as there were no stairs at GZ but the hint surely helped.

Took a new coordinate with a GPS

Went for a quick dip after the walk.

Thanks for making us return here

{*FTF*} 14/10/18. 9:30am
I saw this one pop up in the week but as it’s over 200km away from home I dismissed it.
Last night a few things aligned - a guy accepted my offer on a boat I wanted to buy in Cairns, an Earthcache was needed for this weekend’s souvenir (with none left to claim in Townsville) and with no October FTF yet (27 months and counting) this looked like a good possibility.
Excited for the day ahead I woke up early jumped into the car and made this my first stop. Both sets of coordinates wanted me about 30m further on towards the lookout but the hint made it an easy find.
Thanks for placing and bringing me here.
Great spot.
