Made a choice today - wanted to get in some walking exercise, find caches, and not have to walk up hills. This series was the closest compromise.
First of a few DNFs today - I worked out the hint and checked as many relevant places as I could bear, but eventually just had to move on.
First of a few DNFs today - I worked out the hint and checked as many relevant places as I could bear, but eventually just had to move on.
A free caching half day for the Crystal half whilst the rest of the family stayed at home and played in the pool. Picked an area that had lots of caches we've not been to before. Took a while to find this one as the hint didn't quite match the location, but figured it out in the end.
Working on Reach the Peak Denali this month, and taking Michel on some adventures after a long rest, so went on a quick evening bike trip to look for ReCycle 19-25 and was pleasingly successful. Cheers!
The CO is about to leave town so I'm putting in some time to find his cches - one per day. I as going to stop at the next cache north but it has been raining the last few days and the area around there is ,uddy, wet and horrible. I'll come back when it dries out some. Do i skipped that and came here. This is one of my least favourite hide styles, along with flax and toitoi and mechanism hunts. However in this case it wasn't to bad - I hunted for a couple of minutes then gave up and wandered around. Ah... that's where I would hide it! and a minute later, further along, I had it. Yay! Another Yetrees cache found! How many are left?
Walked past this one initially. Will have to ponder what the hint means, but found using where would i hide it? Good to kick us out of a routine. TFTC.
Second time looking for this and the gps played the game. Finally found it beyond the tree I originally thought was close. Tftc
Second time looking for this one, but a bitore determined this time. Figured out the clue but it took a while to work out the location. Signed log and replaced where found. TFTC.
I was really keen to get out and grab a few caches this afternoon. As we are back in COVID level 2, I went out armed with hand sanitiser and gloves. I parked at the Petone end and decided to walk along here. I pretty much had the trail to myself this afternoon which meant that I could search uninterrupted which was nice. I had absolutely no idea as to what the hint meant and I spent ages looking. Just when I was about to give up... there it was! So the log book has been signed and the cache is nicely back in its spot all ready for the next geo-hunter. Thanks heaps for taking the time to set up this cache. I really appreciate your efforts in doing so. TFTC!
A nice quick find thanks. And the last find before the ferry check in.
Ms_KR and I are on our annual pilgrimage to Auckland for our family Christmas. Today are heading back over the ditch. Blenheim here we come! Please excuse the generic logs, there have been a few finds and they get muddled up sometimes.
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

Staying in Petone but visiting friends in Wellington. Today decided to cycle into Wellington collecting as many caches as possible. Surprised that you actually had to start on the main highway but then got on the seperate cycle path. Interested by how many cyclists choose to remain on SH1. Once I got a feel for the hides they were generally quick. Did have 3 DNF along the way. Thanks yeetrees for the series and getting me out here. Was not sure of the hint here but subsequently enlightened by the CO. I had sort of guessed.
Out and about finding caches for the Wonders of the World challenge. Yep the "got" the hint reference. So a wee bit of fossicking had the cache in hand.
The inside of the main cache was a little damp so gave it a wipe. Also one of the lid clips fell off the container when closing, suggest a replacement needed soon.
Log all nice and dry. TFTC

We hired bikes and after we headed out along the coast we had time before returning the bikes to do this trail. Most of the caches were quick easy finds. TFTC
A plan was made to aim for 50 caches in a day with ThatWeirdGuy04 & TwigNZ we didn't fully hit the amount but we did get over half of what we were trying for before the rain set in and the light faded.
thank you to all the COs for placing the caches

After losing the best part of 2 months worth of caching adventure time due to Covid-19, I have been keen to get out and about for a good solid day's hunting. So I was spending the day caching in Wellington with Mar1sa and ThatWeirdGuy04 , primarily to do the Recycle Trail along SH2 and as many others as we could fit in.
Today we would be walking the route, but to try to minimise the total amount of walking I had thought it might be possible to do numbers 20 through to 27 as park and grabs before heading off to Petone to walk our way back to Ngauranga railway station. A good idea I thought. Shame about the lack of parking on the old Hutt road! But somehow we managed to follow that plan and achieve what we wanted, whilst also treating the trip as a form of maintenance run for the CO, as discussed with him.
All log entries today read as either "Team TMT" or simply "TMT" depending on space.
I have to admit complete defeat regarding the Hint. None of us had a clue what it might mean, but simple systematic searching around GZ soon yielded the cache. The log was quickly signed and replaced, then we were back off again to the next one in the series.
Thanks for putting this series together. I have never walked or cycled this route before, so these caches gave me the perfect excuse to finally do it.

I have a 3 month sabbatical mostly traveling around the planet. My goal is to find and log 1000 caches. New Zealand is my 4th station traveling from south Christchurch to north Auckland, my first visit here, its far away. This is my sabbatical-cache #740.
It was time to finish off the Recycle Series that I started yesterday. I parked in the same place as yesterday but it is disppointing that #16 and #17 had to be archived.
I had trouble trying to figure out the hint and I had limited logs. But I eventually found it. Then I sort of figured it out but I don't have one by that name not even one that is in pain.
Cheers for the cache.

TFTC.

Struggled with this one and the hint, but some previous logs put me on the right track. Soon had it sorted and I feel I have learned something here. That can’t be all bad.... TFTC Yeetrees.
A rare trip to Wellington this weekend for me, so I decided to take the Friday off work and get across the moat early from Blenheim to do some exploring.
The main reason for the trip was a national pub quiz competition in Upper Hutt on Saturday night.
Our team had been invited to it, but didn’t take the offer that seriously initially.
But then things started to fall into place.
With free car use and free accomodation in Mt Vic. sorted out, and other plans woven into the fabric it was not long until all 6 of the team regulars saw this as a distinct possibility and a GOOD THING.
So we signed up, planes and ferries got booked and we started looking forward to some fun. It’s not often a road trip chance presents itself, after all.
But first, the caches. For me today the plan was a few (hopefully) simple stroll and grabs followed by a sweep across town toward a Mt Vic. afternoon rendezvous with the next lot of the team to arrive by ferry.
So by plane, bus and train I was at Ngauranga by 7.30am to start the walk. Good fun, a few DNFs throughout the day, but I expected that as these are urban hides, and some high quality finds too. And Wellington turned on a cracker of a day.
Thanks all COs and sorry for this cut and paste bit, any relevant issues about the particular cache are in the first sentences.

Hint made sense once I thought about it while looking around the GZ, and the cache was soon spotted after that, TFTC
Not too tricky to look past an agony aunt.
This can be my last for today and leave more for exercise trips from Petone.

Needed a cache today to deal to a dot day. This was it. Slight detour on the way home to go after this one. Needed to buy something else at Placemakers (just like yesterday), so that provided a useful carpark while doing the cache. Took a moment or two to make the find. Still don’t know what the hint is all about. #2743. TFTC.
It's not surprising that many people don't know what the hint refers to. I do and I was concerned it could be a difficult cache to find. However, it certainly helped that this container is larger than any of the others I found today.
Out grabbing a few caches and completing the recycle series. Thanks for the cache.
As I haven't got many caches to find around Palmerston North, I have to travel out of town to
complete the Mystery at the Museum challenge. An early morning start with the bike on board to find ten more gems and some more for the 35 cache souvenir on the cycleway between Petone and Wellington Thanks Yeetrees for this series of caches.

I had no idea what the hint meant, but divined it from a previous log. It still took a bit of searching.

Another one in this series and a souvenir for the current challenge in the bag. Tftc.
Out for a stroll this afternoon in an attempt to stretch the legs and get some exercise. Wondered where this one was going to be but in the end spotted it reasonably quickly by peering downwards. Lent against the railing tucked in behind the shrubbery to fill in the log. Once signed, returned as found.
Thanks for the series and cache.

#7249. Thought it was time to start my museum adventure. Needed a cache for today so chose this one. I had forgotten how hard it was to park in this area. Had to end up parking some distance away and walking back here. Luckily I have found a fair few of the CO's caches and have encountered Aunty Aggie before. A favourite of the CO its seems. Once the coast was clear I got the torch going and soon found the cache nicely tucked away. All dry inside. Signed the log and replaced the cache as found. Thanks for hiding it here Mr Yeetrees.
Found in order to kick off the Mystery at the Museum challenge. I have found a few in this series before but this one might have been disabled back then. Thanks for a well-protected cache!
Like others, no idea about the hint, but coords & geosense led me straight to it. Then just had to unpack the layers & find the clue! Cheers Yeetrees.
Walked from Petone into Wellington collecting these along the way. All nice well hidden caches that were ok to find. Thanks for the series.
I needed a walk today, and along the Hutt road to this one fitted the bill nicely. Took a couple of looks before Auntie revealed her little secret though. Tftc
Have always wanted to do this trail. So today when I came over by ferry I had the bike in the car. Enjoyed the ride and today the sea was calm. This is the start of my North Island trip hopefully to the top
Found the cache while walking the southern section of the series from Ngauranga. All in order replaced as found.
Went for a walk with one of the Yeomanclan to grab half of this series. We were starting to get the hang of these at this point! TFTC
This series has been on my radar for some time so today is the day. Parked at Ngauranga Railway park and hit the track. Got this one tagged. Cheers
Im in Wellington again catching up with friends and family. Some spare time today, to go hunting. So lets go!!

Didn't like the sound the hinted item, but oncr I'd got s bit closer I needn't have worried. The cache is in fine condition. TFTC
Cache # 4,738 - A reasonably quick find, although it took two passes of the area to find the cache - easier to see from one angle than another. As with other finders, no idea what the hint is supposed to refer to - did some googling and despite finding some 11 definitions, absolutely none of them apply here! Ah well, still another nice cache. Grabbed the TB and the code, LNSL. TFTC!

We were in the port of Wellington New Zealand for the day on Holland America's Amsterdam. Our main goal was to go North of the city and to get to the almost 5-mile bike path along the water and to walk it and to try to find all of the 28 "Recycle" caches on the trail. Mission Accomplished!
What a great set of caches!!! Thank you Yeetrees!
The caches were all clean, easy-to-find, well-protected from the weather by multiple insert containers for each, and the logs were in fantastic condition! We replaced one missing container (for Recycle Seventeen) and were also able to find the Archived Recycle Sixteen. We have given Recycle One and Recycle Twenty Eight FAV points, being representative of the entire series.
The CO was very clear that one should start at the mid-point of the series and do either the Northern or the Southern section first and then return to the mid-point and do the other section. So that is what we did. We were not sure how to get to the starting point, so we took a taxi from the main Train Station. It dropped us off at the #83 bus stop, between Recylcle Nineteen and Recycle Twenty. We did the southern section first from #19 through #28.
After completing the Southern section, we returned to our starting point and decided to do the odds ones on the way North and the even ones on the return to the South, so we could geocache in both directions.
When we finished the series, we jumped on the #83 bus, returned to the City and did 5 more caches there, before returning to our ship.
Great Day! Great City! Thank you

7983. This was yet another very easy find on a pleasant walk from the gorge to the Caltex station. After finding it I read the hint and have no idea of the significance of the hint. Thanks for the cache and the series. Rodney.
In town with my e-bike and a leave pass.
This trail looked like a good thing to do.
I had no idea what the hint referred to but eventually stumbled upon the hide.

Decided to do the recycle geocache trail this afternoon on one of my days off for the summer break. Busier than I expected, and had to dodge quite a few cyclists while signing logs.
Beautiful weather for a geocaching walk today. I parked at the northern end of the trail, and it took me a few hours of a leisurely walk to grab the caches and return to my car.
28 out of 28 finds today! Apologies for the cut n paste logs.

The weather has been nice and warm so I have been commuting to and from work by push-bike. I decided to stop here for a look on my way home.
There is quite a geotrail near GZ. It makes the cache quite easy to find but reduces the challenge a bit. However, I was in a bit of a hurry to get home so I didn’t mind too much.
The cache is in good condition. All nice and dry.
Thank you

No idea what the hint means, but regardless a relatively quick find. All good here, TFTC
#761. Ouch! One metre from what turned out to be GZ was a partly buried broken beer bottle, which drew blood on my middle finger before I realised what it was. Needless to say, it became focus of a CITO after I signed the log and GBLeader took a pic of the code. Another dot day ticked off. Tftc Yeetrees.
I DNFd this earlier in the day but had the opportunity for a revisit when the road was very quiet. It didn't take all that long to find after all. I'm having a lot of trouble deciphering many of the codes so I'm stashing photos so I can re-interpret them when there's some context to work with. It doesn't help that the cache ID is not written on the same side as the code so you can't get both pieces of information in one photo. TFTC.
With a clue like that things could of been much worse, fortunately they weren't. No problems here, signed the log book and grabbed the clue.

#10,470. Returned to attempt another one in the Recycle series … this time in Khandallah in Wellington. GZ was all quiet at the time of the visit. Quick find. The cache was in excellent condition, all nice and dry inside. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.

Signed the log for this when helping the CO place the caches. I have waited for these to be found before logging. We both had cars which were parked in Petone and Kaiwharawhara which meant no retracing our steps. It was a lovely day when placing and we enjoyed the harbour views. Thanks Yeetrees for letting me be part of the placement.
Understood the hint and was worried as they can be very tough to search but found pretty quickly in the end.
Thanks for the series Yeetrees

Good job I understood the hint and soon had the cache in hand. Seems like CO has a lot of containers to use up! Thanks CO for the cache.
A fine and calm morning today so I decided to come for a bike ride and score this new series. I started from Jarden Mile and worked north to #1, then came back and worked south to #28. The hint and a geotrail enabled me to walk straight to this one. Signed log, TFTC
I parked up at Ngauranga and wandered down to about halfway between there and the Caltex to grab my cache for the day, and to scout out the caches in between for easy grabbing later on. I was going to get 24 but a muggle was shuffling along towards me as I approached that one so I just continued on to this one. After a bit of hunting I finally found the cache and signed the log, recording the code. Now the interesting part of this series is...are they 5s or Ss? 1s or Is? I guess we'll see in the end .
I found the others on the way back to my car easily enough, except for 20. GPS was really playing silly buggers and the hint didn't really help as I couldn't identify a point of reference to start from. Oh well, I've got another five goes from here to try and hone in on it. Day 26 of my 50-day streak attempt. TFTC

FTF. Out and about with RosalieNZ looking for a couple in this series when new ones appeared on the map. Got sidetracked and looked for these instead. TFTC Yeetrees.
Our plans for this afternoon were pleasantly disrupted when some new caches popped up in the area. Thanks for the find!
