Took longer than it should to find this as was searching deeper in the bush. As others have mentioned, nothing to solve here as ammo can lid completely rusted to oblivion, all good inside though. Thanks Silas1986
I made this more challenging than I needed to - I went well up into the bush (which had copious amounts of rubbish) when that was quite unnecessary. As others note the ammo can is all but destroyed by rust, but the inner container is in excellent condition.Nice to get this off my to-do list; it's been in my solved pile for a very long time, though in its current condition it's nothing more than a traditional cache. TFTC.#4017
Fast find, cache container is rusted up in pieces and code no longer needed. All bits are still in situ. Would probably be good to remove outer container and hide close by. Inner container nice and dry. Found with geotween, Aurora11511. TFTC
#289. Glad to get this one. Awesome tradional cache though worn out its a classic ammo container familiar with the OGs. Thanks for bringing me here.
Wow. Like, just how old is this cache? I have only seen one ammo box in a worse state than this, that one the bottom had completely rusted out, and it had rectangular holes in the lid where the handle used to attach. That one was lying within 30m of the sea (mostly vertically) so perhaps it wasn't too surprising. Also thanks for keeping the old container and just doing a refresh of the inner one. It's nice to keep the history. The cache was lying a bit in the open so was an easy find, although not by me - I had blown straight past it to look further in the bush. So after the signing ceremony we returned it a bit further in. Still in the openish, but less visible.Log signed as TATS for TwigNZ and the Seagnoid.TwigNZ and I came over for an geocaching event but we were a little early so set off to do some finds to fill in the time. Just a few, near the the centre of Whitby.
I was due to attend an event, GCADKN1, this evening but had a spare half an hour ahead of the scheduled start time, so the Seagnoid and I decided to grab a few caches first, of which this was one.I really quick find at GZ due to the cache lying out in the open. No need to worry about access to the cache log as this is perhaps the worst state I've ever seen an ammo can in during my 6+ years of caching. No problems with the log itself, which soon had T.A.T.S (for TwigNZ and the Seagnoid) written on it before replacing it all pretty much as found. Thanks for putting this one out.
Found the cache first before seeking the code which as it turns out wasn’t necessary as the lid is rusted through. Was a bit exposed so covered as well as I could.
I recall another geocache a few meters from here a few years back.

Our walk continued up a steepish hill (pushing 10 month Little Junior in a pushchair) to find what I needed to to sign off this Warrior of the Forest. I realized I would have to come back later without Junior so I could have a proper hunt. So that's what I did. Only to discover that I could have signed off easily with Little Junior watching. The lid is completely munted . Thanks for bringing us here.
I was really looking forward to this one after reading about it having some code to unlock.
When I found the cache, I realized this part of it was "out of order"
Nonetheless, it's still a cool cache and I found it so it's still a win.
Cheers.

Had a feeling of dejavu with this one. Turns out I had done it before
Container has seen better days and could be considered a health hazard. Be careful when opening.

Awesome find, the container is very rusty and the handle was broken when we found it. Perfect location for a rest on a bike ride
Today StreetWalkerNZ and I are travelling from Lower Hutt to Foxton Beach, via the scenic caching route, of course. Our main objectives are solved puzzles, with a few ad labs, virtuals etc thrown in.
The info and cache were soon uncovered, but I didn't appreciate the livestock that scuttled away, including (shudder) a cockroach. As the previous finder has reported, the container is badly rusted. I am hopeless with these devices, so was happy to let SW open it. Left a TB. TFTC.

#20913. We pulled in to what I thought was a side street, but it turned out to be a back section driveway. I dropped Troodles off and then parked on the street we'd turned in from. By the time I got to GZ Troodles had located the ammo box, and left me to get in to it. The ammo box is very rusty, and needs replacing. TFTC.
Was clearing out my last few unfound caches in Whitby, so grabbed this one. A nice easy solve and grab. Nice use of an ammo can, and the nearby info to make a simple field puzzle. The lock had been slightly bent out of shape so it didn't close - fixed that and got it locked again, however suggest a visit with a can of CRC or some bicycle oil would be good to free up the lock again.
The info board was interesting, but all this development of Duck Creek makes me sad, as it was such a nice golf course with wetlands.

Found with chels_j and Livh09. Got the lock open but it’s so rusty unfortunately we couldn’t lock it again.
Found it. Added a toy elephant and took a the giant glass marbel.
Padlock is broken and metal box is badly rusted but contents are still all good.

Last cache of the day with Mycro Man and Ezratar. Solved the puzzle using google before arriving here and validated the answers on the signboard. Then hunted for a lot longer than we should have for the cache container. Found a suitcase, a sled, a pot plant and a few other items before finding the cache almost where we started. Container is rusting quite a lot, but contents still in good condition. Thanks for the cache.
Necessary clue was quickly gathered. Then followed the phone satnav, shooting right past the cache. Found on a slower descent. Cool wee field puzzle and container, cheers Silas1986!
I don't know how I have overlooked the possibility of doing this cache on previous visits to Whitby, maybe because it was a puzzle I hadn't solved but that shouldn't be a problem when it's a very simple field puzzle!
Today was an ideal opportunity as I had another cache in my sights but the chances of doing that one without being muggled were pretty much nil.
I can't say I was unfamiliar with the area but it looked a lot different in my time, I used to watch go-karts at the Duck Creek track in the late 1960s (showing my age!)
An excellent first cache, this is the style of caching I enjoy most.
Outside of cache is a bit rusty but not problematic, the rest is in excellent condition though a little CRC or graphite on the lock would not go amiss.
Seems owner may not currently be active, unfortunate as I would like to see more hides from them.
TFTC, gets a well deserved favorite point.

Awesome cache! I enjoy a field puzzle and an ammo can. Nice supply of goodies for kids, too. TFTC
Always love finding an ammo can, and I liked how this cache was set up requiring an easy find of the code for the combination lock. Adding a favourite point. TFTC

A very nice find while I was in the area this afternoon. The cache is all in good order, thanks very much for putting it here.
#6926. Needed a few caches today but didn't want to do a big walk as I am preparing a talk for a conference next weekend. So just doing four park and strolls. Have been to this reserve previously. Can't remember exactly where the previous cache was hidden. Luckily I checked the sign as the information on it was different to what I read online. Like bruzie I went bush only to discover that was unnecessary. The cache seemed rather exposed when found. Picked up a trackable and discovered another one. Signed the logbook and replaced the cache as found. Great first cache and full of goodies. Thanks Silas1986 for hiding it here. I put a bit more camo over the cache to help keep it out of view of the prying eyes of muggle kids.
Out and about in Whitby today so made the effort to make a small detour. Soon had the required info then onto the cache. Soon had the log in hand. Thanks for the cache.
A nice quick find as it was all quiet at the park today. No problems unlocking it, all safe and dry here. TFTC.
That's quite a container to have as your first hide, and quite an accessible location.
I parked up nearby and made my way up to the information board, not expecting the answer that was there - I assumed it was much earlier. I remember this area more as being the golf course that existed here when I lived in Whitby before leaving home to go to university in the 90s - in fact I can see my old bedroom window from here. I went off exploring into the bush, not realising that I didn't have to go that far and soon had the cache in hand. I took it to the handy table to perform the duties. Grabbed the Jeep trackable and discovered the other one, then locked and replaced it. All good here. TFTC

Find # 201. Found with Aros71 on our way home from a maintenance run for our big multi. An extremely good first cache, many thanks and congratulations to Silas1986. I shall look forward to seeking more of your caches in the future! All shipshape in the ammo tin, TNLN. TFTC!
Found quickly and easily. Everything in good order, dry and functioning normally. TNLNSL TFTC
Location determined a couple of weeks ago, but then Christmas got in the way... Decided that this one had been left uncompleted for too long, so made this the final cache for the day.
Exactly where I'd calculated it should be. Logbook signed, and returned tot he excellently stocked cache. Decided to leave the TB's where they were for others to move along. TFTC!

Cache # 4,669 - A really good effort for a first cache. Came along with Astro Hunter and Violet Butterfly. As other cachers noted, we ended up too high, but soon had cache in hand when we corrected that. A nice large cache, so I added a couple of trackables to it (one regular and one discoverable). TFTC!

Did with The Wandering Dragons and Astro Hunter today. Added some swag to the cache, as it was awful to see such a big cache so empty. Took nothing. Thanks!

Called here this morning while out and about doing a bit of touring with Mrs agcnz. Found the nice big cache container (my favourite type!) after just a few minutes, the GPSr was pointing me a bit further up the hill but that was not where "cacher's instinct" told me it should be. A very nicely set up cache, congratulations on achieving such a high standard for your first! Signed log, thanks for the cache
Had an evening walk to this cache, and what a great new addition to the area! Found it easily after a short search, and awkwardly crouched in the bush waiting for a muggle to leave before making a break for it. And I grabbed the trackable, too!
It's always good to see a cache which is set up a bit differently from others. I quickly figured out the piece of information needed but tracking down the cache was more difficult than I expected. I normally find these types very quickly but this one eluded me for a while even though it turned out to be not covered as well as it could have been. I just needed to look from the correct angle.
Went with the "most recent published cache" to answer the question "where shall we go today?". Certainly this is a very well set up cache and was quickly found after a brief walk up the hill. A good place to drop a TB.
We had found all the close by caches but decided at take in a loop of Duck Creek anyway. Oh dear big machines had made a mess of the place as suburbia takes over. We were forced to retrace our steps except for one short section. There again the open field has been replaced with a row of high density houses the smell of paint still strong in the air.

Out and about with Yeetrees working on the new Porirua suburbs multi this late afternoon. We were starting to run in to traffic so decided to flag doing the rest of the multi and instead looked around for a cache we could head straight to.
This cache fitted the bill nicely and after gathering the required information we plunged into the shrubbery. After initially looking a bit high I found the cache nicely hidden by the vegetation. Excellent sized container that opened to reveal another and then the log. Well done on your first hide.
Thanks for placing and for bring us here to see the view.

Saw this cache when it was published and noticed the FTF was gone pretty quickly, congrads to Spider-Bite, well done.
Was in the area with SAROC picking up a few waypoints for the new multicache but really needed a cache for today and saw this cache and decided that this would be the perfect cache as it was a simple P&G maybe, well not quite.
Arriving near GZ I managed to find a safe parking spot not too far from GZ and then it was a simple walk to the reference point, managed to get the required information and then it was time to go to GZ. SAROC managed to find the well cammoed and well hidden cache quickly. Managed to gain entrance quickly.
Managed to retrieve the cache, signed and then replaced the cache back where I found it. Thanks to the Silas1986 for placing this cache here and for bringing me to this spot, TFTC TNLNSL (13961). Giving a fav for your very first cache, looking forward to your next.
Took a photo of the logpage for reference, now time to continue on our way to get one more waypoint before going home for dinner.

#10,508. A good time to visit Whitby in Porirua on a nice Sunday afternoon. The final GZ vicinity was fortunately all quiet at the time of our visit. No problem collecting the required code. Took a bit of searching for the cache though. Plenty of potential hiding spots – widened the area in the wrong direction initially. Eventually found it 7 metres away. Got access with the code. The cache was in excellent condition, all nice and dry inside.

(# 4849). Woke up very early this morning and no matter how hard I tried I couldn't get back to sleep. So I hauled myself out of bed and decided to grab a few caches before the real world woke up. Saw this one come up a few days ago but was in no position to grab it. Easily got the code but there was no need for it as the previous finder had no locked it up properly when finished as the lock was wide open. Never mind as no damage done. Once logging I ensured the lock was done up. A quick find. Everything in order. TFTC
Wahoo, FTF at 8:49am. Congratulations on your 1st cache placement. Thanks for a nice cache and great location. Worth a favourite point as it's a lovely spot. I might be a bit biased though as it's less than 1km from where I live. TFTC
This is a really great cache and probably gets the prize for the best "first cache" I've ever found. I was slightly confused by the first stage being marked as a "physical stage" when it is, in fact, virtual but since it's so close to the final I don't think it makes any difference. The GPS was being a bit uncooperative when I was navigating to the final and it sent me on a bit of a circuitous route before bringing me back to a logical spot with much easier access than the path I took! The cache itself is top notch and it's great to see some "real" caches in the suburbs for a change. +FP and TFTC.
