24-Sep-24
We didn't get to stop as there was nowhere suitable to park with the van, but we loved the concept of this cache and our looking meant we got to see a group of 13 emus a couple of k's toward Renmark from here. We also sadly noticed one had perished on the road.Thank you so much for this cache, our whole family loved it.

We saw a number of emus on our travels today. So cool!! .Day 14 of our Great Leap Forward leap year Mega trip of 2024. Caching today with GLISS! Always wonderful to be travelling across the country enjoying the amazing scenery and caching along the way. Main focus for this trip has been to tidy up the last couple of counties needed in Victoria and make a serious dent in the South Australian ones. Plus a few days in Adelaide enjoying the mega fun. A hot dry trip this time around. Thanks to all the COs for placing and maintaining these caches so we can enjoy the game.

I was starting to get quite sad by the time I arrived at this geocache. Which doesn't make sense because my plan was going very well! Let me explain. My plan today was bold and exciting but seemingly simple. On my first trip to South Australia, I wanted to visit MacCabe Corner. But then to be clever I pondered if I could also do a lap around and visit all three states more broadly in the same day. A "Corner and a Loop" I called it. So this morning, I left Renmark and had successfully hiked to the corner and was a very happy boy.But during my planning, I noticed the first crossing of the Murray to the east is almost at Mildura. Well, fine then, we're going almost to Mildura before heading through Wentworth and west to eventually drop back down into Renmark.Happy in my morning, I now needed to put some kilometres behind me and enjoy the very fast and flat bitumen to Mildura, in what feels really quite outback. And that means I can go emu hunting.. with my eyes, that is! It is so rare I see them and this felt like a prime piece of country to see them.Though, I'm almost halfway across and haven't seen a hint of them. Not close, nor far from the road. And worse, I was getting real close to needing a "comfort break". I consulted the map and noticed this geocache. That sounds like it could help my mission. Or more realistically, I thought, it'd be a good place to write about my growing sadness at the disappointment of not seeing emus.Just like most everywhere else along this road, it's easy to pull well off the highway safely. The geocache wason the other side of the highway, but I took a few steps to the north behind a bush to "water the flowers'. I looked up and out there, all across the paddock was a flock of moving dots.Emus. Probably fifty of them! I don't care that they're all the way over there, this counts. I stood and watched them for a while - especially enjoying a couple that took off at top speed to meet back up with the body of the flock.Very happy and Victoria having redeemed itself, I crossed over the road for the geocache. Nothing at all difficult here, and all in good condition. I signed my name and claimed the find at 14:20. Geocache and promised emus. I'm gonna smile my way to Mildura now! Thanks for this geocache, honeysucker Smile

A lovely sunny day so BettyBoo3747, the geodoggies and I traveled from Lake Boga to Renmark to start our holiday. Collected a few caches on the way when the mood took us, and a couple of AdLabs.
Emus? Not a one did we see!
Nice view across the plains though from here.
A nice break on this road too.
Thanks, Robmc.

#19703. Day 2 of our holiday travelling between Lake Boga and Renmark. Gathered up 16 caches and 2 AdLabs along the journey. A lovely sunny day that got warmer every hour.

No emus seen today unfortunately. The last time we saw one, was our last trip a month ago as we left Patchewollock and a lone emu dashed across the road.

Thanks honeysucker

Yesterday Fitzy_63, Albida33, Minniek, Sol de Lune and I found about 350 of the On Your Bike Series so today we wanted to get back out and find to the end of the series. It was forecast to be even hotter today than yesterday so we decided to head out early. Of course the plan didn't work. We finished early and attacked another group of caches rather than go back to camp early

It was another great day of caching thanks to all the COs and nearly all caches were found to be in good order. Those that weren't will have individual notes added later. Logs were signed FAMSS

Day 6: SA/Vic Christmas holiday trip

Last Christmas holidays, fitzy_1965 and I (along with two geo-kids, Death Killer & my_name_jeff_1) headed to SA to visit family whilst we could, and to collect as many counties and caches as possible along the way. We decided even before getting home that we needed to go back. The added incentive of more On You Bike series sealed the deal. Fast forward through 2021 (because who wants to remember that), and here we are again. This time with extra company in the form of Sol de lune, Smittengranny and albida33.

After an exhausting 5 days in the SA heat, we made the decision to pack up a day early and head back across the border to do the Paddle Steamer series…..and to air conditioned accommodation instead of continuing to camp in tents! We said goodbye to Albida33 who was staying a few more days in SA. Caching along the way, we headed for the series straight up before continuing to our hotel…. Ah luxury!

All caches were signed as FMSS and were found quickly and easily unless otherwise mentioned.

26,228. Found with minniek, Sol de Lune and Smittengranny during our post Christmas / New Year trip over to South Australia and Victoria to tackle the On Your Bike and Paddle Steamer series among many other caches.

Today we started by heading to the Mildura region to start the Paddle Steamer, and grabbed several others along the way. Signed as FMSS. This was another long hot day.

When minniek and I were in South Australia in January this year (2021) doing the On Your Bike series of (then) 100 Wherigo caches, we were talking to the CO who mentioned that a whole lot more were soon to be published, and they were - 512 more ! So once back home we set about solving all those new ones which was at least something to do during 'stay at home' orders effecting us. Then once they were all solved we planned a trip over to grab them. Then just to add to the fun the latest 152 were published just in time for us to spend time solving them all so we could get the whole set. With our caching friends Sol de Lune, Smittengranny and albida33 this series was our main aim, but with the 'Around the World in 81 caches' series, various solved puzzles and the Paddle Steamer as standby if we got the time.

We managed some BIG days caching and finished off the On Your Bike series in three days, then attempted the mammoth 'Around the World in 81 caches' series and some lovely high/rare D/T caches - all in searing summer heat peaking at over 40 degrees ! Once they were finally completed we headed over to the Mildura region for another two blistering hot days doing the Paddle Steamer series. After camping for five nights we finally relented and got hotel rooms for the last two nights and worked the air conditioning to the bone.

All in all an amazingly fun time was had, and we have all made room in our calendars for when the next part of the On Your Bike series is published - no pressure ! Highlights included many of the fun tree climbs, the pole caches which increased our skills at the recovery and replacements of those styled caches, and the relaxed times and banter around the camp site at the end of each tiring day - including New Years Eve !

Thanks to all the COs for contributing their caches to our fun times, and I must apologise for the generic logs as we did find well over one thousand caches which now require logging !

01-Jan-22
Found with fitzy_1965, Minniek and Smittengranny while heading towards Mildura after a few hot days around the Loxton area on the On Ya Bike series. No issues with this one and our initials were soon in the log book....as FMSS.

Thanks for another one honeysucker....

Found this one with tassie expat while exploring this nice area. Saw the emus, 6 of them feeding within 100 mtrs of the road, but they were certainly camera shy and took off running for their lives. You don't often see emus in the wild. Thanks for the cache.

frmen1 and doing a circuit drive west of Mildura when we saw the emus, grazing in the paddock. Pulled over and then realised that the cache was nearby. A quick find. Alas, those emus can run, thus avoiding any photos. Still great to see emus in the wild. TFTC

Emus out here today. We see them all the time when visiting Mark's family in Merbein, as this road leads us always to Merbein. Family visit this last weekend, so this is the only cache visited as we head home for the work week for Mr M. And CFS training for Mrs M.
A pathtag left for another visitor. And a favourite point as we love the Emu Paddock as we refer to it.

A plan was hatched with Rapidlywild to attack some of the caching trails down in VIC/SA. With the boarders slowly staying open we thought Easter might be a safe time to try since the QLD boarder was still too fragile to attempt going to the MEGA and it also looked like it could be rather wet there.
Our team “The Mob” consisted of GoodLook, LíB, Rapidlywild, The Drovers, feathertop and ourselves. This team ended up being very productive and some new friendships were made. Always a bonus in my book. All logs were stamped with “The Mob” to save space and time.
After completing all the trails, we had set out to do and a couple more for good measure it was time for this mob to go its separate ways.

It was now time to head home after doing numerous trails while in the area a great caching adventure. We picked up numerous on our way home to break up the journey.

Quick find at this one, spotted emus along the journey but not in here.

Thanks for the hide honeysucker and for the fun Rapidlywild

For the first time in a long time, it was road trip time. With COVID-19 keeping everyone at home for so long, the borders were finally opening and the feet were itchy for a decent caching trip. Plans were made with FurfacesLL to do a 10 day road trip across to Mildura and Loxton to do a heap of caching and we were excited. Across the 10 days we racked up over 4,300km in driving, multiple hotels/motels, brought home enough red dust to create our own sand pit in the back yard and collected over 1800 finds between us. It was a massive trip and lots of fun was had.

We teamed up with GoodLook, FeatherTop, The Drovers and LiB and signed most logs as "The Mob". There were a few caches which were signed as individual team names as some teams had already completed said caches, those will be noted individually.

Our target caches were the Turtle Series, the Paddle Steamer Series and the On Ya Bike wherigo Series, heaps of other caches were also collected along the way but our primary target caches were completed which made us all very happy and very tired geocachers.

With the Turtle done, the PS Series done, the On Ya Bike done, the TdU & TdF done as well as the Riddlers done, our targeted caches has been accomplished. With the teams now split and it was back to FurfacesLL and myself, we had heaps to choose from. Today was cleaning up around Loxton and making our way over to Mildura for the night, before making our way back towards Wagga tomorrow.

No issues with the find here, now onto the next find for the day. Cool

Thanks for the hides honeysucker Big Grin And thanks FurfacesLL for a trip to remember [^].

Away on a week long geo holiday, travelling with GoodLook. Joined forces with other teams to grab the Paddle Steamer Series and Turtle Series and any other caches we had time for.
Many logs were stamped "The Mob" while we cached as a group and at times we stamped individually.
This was one of the caches found while touring around.

04-Apr-21
No emus seen today.

Most of the caches are stamped as The Mob (consisting of The Drovers, LíB, FurfacesLL, Rapidlywild, and myself), however a handful contain our own caching names or initials.

2020 was not a great year, and the beginnings of 2021 have also been tricky - so when it looked like the various borders would be open again (without quarantine restrictions), a trip was spontaneously planned and I was able to pull together a number of my caching friends who hadn't cached together before to form "The Mob".

LíB and I started in SA, drove to Victoria and ended our trip in SA; FurfacesLL and Rapidlywild came from Canberra and The Drovers began their journey from NSW; and then a few days later, feathertop from Victoria, joined us to complete the On Your Bike Series and other caches in SA.

We filled our days with piling in cars, hard core caching, Adventure Labs, crazy funny CB radio chatter, some laughter, some tense moments (OMG some of the ladder and tree climbs on this trip were crazy!), lots of lovely meals and even live music from a band called "Kung Fu Jesus" - nope, that is no joke.

We had hot weather each day (well into 30s), so I am thrilled that I now own a car fridge to keep the drinks icy cold (loving them at about 1 degree celcius).

A sincere thanks to honeysucker for placing this cache. Big Grin

Day 1 in the area, with the main target being the bike series.
This cache was on our way, and we found it hard to resist the stop.
We stamped the log as 'The Mob' to save space and time.
'The Mob' this time included:- GoodLook, LíB, FurfacesLL, Rapidlywild, feathertop
and ourselves.

Many thanks for placing this cache, honeysucker, for us and others to find.

Found during a trip from Adelaide to the Mildura area for a few days of caching with Brisal5, e.gregory1 and Team Waldron with the main aim to complete the Paddle Steamer and Turtle GeoArt series but also to find other caches along the way. We camped out on the banks of the Murray River near Mildura on the first night, at Rocket Lake campground in the Murray-Sunset National Park on the second night, then back to the banks of the Murray River near Merbein on the last night. We signed the logs as B.E.F.W. Thanks to all the cache owners for placing the cache!

***Generic Log unless something special above this line.***

I have seen a T shirt with Sleep Eat Cache Repeat [^] Well a four day trip to Mildura with caching friends Team Waldron, E.gregory and FeatherWaite certainly fit that bill. Razz Logs were signed with initials only for the teams - BEFW

Up at daybreak, quick breakfast and cache all day stopping only to have a snack whilst out on the trails, rush to set up camp near dusk for a meal, then perhaps some night caching, early night and REPEAT! Big Grin

Strategic camping at Kings Billabong, Rocket lake and The Common meant we were close by the Geoart and target night caches. Cool Two previous trips in 2013 and 2016 by me and some by E.gregory meant we visited some (well quite a few actually) previous finds but that made it quick for the people that hadn't found them previously. Wink

I can't thank the CO's of these caches enough as some were really very inventive. Even having solved most puzzles before we came we were confronted with field puzzles and gadgets that were just mind boggling. [:X][:X][:X]

***Thanks honeysucker for putting out this cache and maintaining it for our enjoyment. *** Big Grin
Logs prepared and published through GSAK.

Hi there honeysucker.

We found your cache **"Emu Plains"** at 10:53:00 AM today.

Our plan today was to head out from Mildura to the SA Border to attempt [I found a Hole](https://coord.info/GC87KKZ), until we discovered that the final was on the other side of the prohibited border crossing.Twisted Plan "B" was to log the caches on the left on the way out , and then pick up the rest on the way back. Smile

Thanks for placing this cache here. Over the years, Geocaching has taken us on many adventures and to lots of wonderful destinations all over Australia. Without 'caching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places on our nomadic wanderings. 'Caching has also introduced us to a diverse group of like-minded people, many of whom we now call friends.

**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found your cache roughly where the GPS said we should be looking. Wink
**Cache Condition:** The container and log book are in good shape.
**Took:** Nothing
**Left:** Smiley Badge
**Grabbed Trackable:** "Deni Ute Muster Traveller".

Thank you honeysucker for adding to our adventure.

Regards

Ian & Penny

Continuing my first caching adventure with OzHockeyChick, Papi4506 & GeoTurtle37 and a mega adventure it is! Today we are off hopefully on a milestone run to reach my 2000.
No emus spotted so far. We’ll keep our eyes peeled!
Thanks honeysucker for placing the hide!
