What a bush bashing mission

27-Nov-22
After walking the tracks for 30 minutes and getting 38mtrs from GZ the only option was to make my own trail. There may have been a trail here in the long distant past but not today. Arrived at GZ and looked in vain. No cache today.

Found with the bells and 5 kids! What an awesome hide! Bit of bush to climb through at first.

Finally got around to doing some maintenance- the path in is a tad overgrown but the cache is sitting pretty & good to go

Great Northern escape 2022 Day 46. Atherton Day 1. For my first day based in Atherton, I went on a day trip to Yungaburra. It is an interesting small village perched on the side of the main road. Around the village I tried for a few multi's, only one out of three. I then visited the Afghan war memorial down by the lake and then headed a bit further afield for a few more caches.

This bit of rainforest was very impressive. I had an enjoyable walk around the plot locating both caches along the way.

Thanks for the cache Arachnauts

A challenging walk down to this one. Firstly because we choose the wrong path in, which made the walk a lot longer, and then it got worse. The path to GZ is becoming overgrown, and is covered in fallen branches and forest debris for the final approach. A bit of a scramble got us there, but then we had to find this well hidden micro. Luck got us there in the end, after reading the hint, cache description and other cachers logs. But we did find it in the end.
Headed out from Tolga today to explore more of this lovely area, and to find a few caches on our way. It wasn’t a great start to our caching day as we missed a lot of the multis around Yungaburra, but rectified that with finding some trads. Can’t win on all of the hides, even though we always set out expecting to find them!
Thanks to all the local CO’s for developing and maintaining a diverse variety of hides. We appreciate your efforts.

Grey nomads, currently spending time caching in far north Queensland. We have had enough of Cairns and hankering to get back on the road again. Finally up on the tablelands, caching in Arachnauts territory.

Merry cache mass in May! Nice walk in a rainforest. SHame there is no view of the lake any more. Very overgrown. But Mr D found your Xmas hide.

Thanks Arachnauts for the hide

Cute cache! I wandered through the park and made my way over the obstacles. Everything was overgrown so couldn’t think where to start but I sat and took a moment to ponder and found what I was after.
Very fitting for this time of year.
I think your newly fitted o ring was broken and fell off but cache was in good condition. TFTC

We are in the area today and decided that we had time to find a few caches. While doing this cache it rained on us but not hard. We just needed to watch where we placed our feet as the path was a little bit slippery. Again, we feel due to the weather, our GPS was being a little naughty. Once we were near GZ we used our geosenses to find the cache and they were good, this is a well placed cache, easy to see once seen but not so noticeable to a passer by. SL TFTC

Second unprepared geocache today, Mr. TMR saw it immediatly, but really nice hide and not easy to spot.

Used to live in this area for a while, 30 years ago, but had never been in this park. Mind you back then it was just a manky bit of weed infested scrub, I wasn’t into bushwalking, and geocaching hadn’t been invented yet. All those things have changed for the better.

Love how this cache blends in so well despite being a completely alien object. A really clever bit of work.
Thanks for the cache Arachnauts.

Having given up on trying to figure out the multi caches around towne for the moment,
I headed off to greener pastures where some good olde traditionals beckoned Razz

I enjoyed a lovely stroll,
in the chill of the early morning,
to work out which way through the maze of tracks would get me to GZ Smile

A couple of wrong tuns later and I finally made it to a spot to take a seat for a moment.
And believe it or not !!
A very hard to see cache,
materialised in the view [^]

TFTC.

A fave dance for the setting,
and a great little, camoed container Big Grin

Keeping in the Christmas theme, this was our second find in this lovely segment of scrub.
Initially we over-shot the GZ, but when we widened our search we found the cute cache.
Thanks for the hide Arachnauts.

While staying in the beautiful Tablelands we chose a lovely clear sunny day to attempt some caches around Peeramon and Yungaburra.

We had ten caches to be found and they were all hidden by this CO so we knew we were in for some great hides

Again my caching mojo came to the fore and after a few minutes search we found the beautiful, coy little nymph

Many thanks Arachnauts....and another favourite point on it’s way

After finding Santa I decided to slop my way across to this cache. It seemed like miles and I searched for quite a while, causing muggle husband to come in search of me. He skidded over and ended up with muddy shorts and a short temper. Fortunately I found the cache, while he sat on a nearby park bench and got his backside even wetter. Fortunately I found the cache and we were on our way. The excellent BLT at nearby Lake Barrine Tea House made him forget the morning's topple and his wet backside.

We were at a bit of a loose end this morning, so why not go out for a few geocaches? Fortunately Arachnauts is always up for a spot of caching and took me out while the geofamily had some quiet time. It's always nice caching with the CO because they lead you to the general area of GZ without the need to go bush bashing only to find the perfect path out. After some hints from the CO about the more specific location I spotted something a bit unusual and the cache was in hand. Thanks for the cache and thanks for taking me out for the day!

Checked cache, all ok. Did a bit of CITO at GZ, but wasn’t up to removing everything left by either locals or squatters on the way there ️

Second last cache for the day. After a brisk walk into a dense little rainforest park, we found ground zero and after a quick review of the hint was able to locate the pretty cache. TFTC.
