Missed this cache (and the car park!) on the way there but spotted it straight away on the way back round the loop. TFTC
Kolour and I organised a long weekend in Canberra to catch up with the great Domsky duo. Of course there was much caching to be done! Off the plane this morning, a CITO, challenge caches and some targeted caches were on the agenda.A quick find here, thanks GreyHams for the cache.
Im visiting Canberra from Brisbane with Willis007 for a long weekend with the Domsky duo, our wonderful guides, targeting mainly oldies and challenges. This is my first time geocaching in the ACT.Domsky dropped us off near the top of Black Mountain, then we enjoyed the walk down, finding many caches along the way including this one.It didnt take long to find the cache. Logbook signed and replaced as found. Tftc
It being Mothers' Day, and my offspring being interstate (work, living arrangements, you know...) I have treated myself to coming out and finding these geocaches, and to fill in a couple more squares on my D/T grid. While it has rained for the past few days, and the day dawned overcast, the sun came out while I was walking and it was glorious out here. The only thing that could have made my Mothers' Day better would be having my adult children here with me.I didn't even notice this traditional geocache before trying to work out where to park along the road! It was a fluke that I parked right by it Thank you for this series, GreyHams
Out for a days caching. Opted to spend the day in Canberra. Spent much of the day walking hills and grabbing lab caches.Really enjoyed my walk around the Black Mt precinct. A recent burn off made for some easier off track walking. This was one of a handful I found today. Thanks for contributing to my fun day.A nice easy oneTFTC ??
Canberra GeoBash DashDay Six: Queanbeyan to Wagga WaggaWeather: Sill hazy. Here for some of the challenges, but it was only after I got back to here (where I have indeed parked the car) that I thought to turn the filter off and see what else was available. This one was clearly too close by to ignore. I wish that I had noted this cache earlier, as being an out of towner, I had no idea where was a good starting point for the caches within the reserve. Thanks for this hide GreyHams.
Still in Canberra after attending the Capital City Geobash I parked here to wander i to get a few caches. The cache was a quick find.
What a great idea for a cache! We are in Canberra enjoying the Geobash and taking the opportunity to explore new places. After visiting the tower and its surroundings, we decided to grab a few challenge caches in this area. Were off to a good start with a nice quick find. Thanks GreyHams.
14:57Happy Easter!Capital GeoBash Day 3.Today, it was back to my main focus of Challenge caches... so I parked at the base of Black Mountain and set off for what ended up being a little over nine klicks of hiking.I was joined part of the way around by fishercacher, a lovely couple from Virginia. We parted ways on approach to the carpark, but I had another Challenge or two to stamp, so took the right fork back into the woods. And, by the usual convoluted route, finally back where I started. Thanks, GreyHams, for a fine excuse for a hike on this lovely day.#8652
Caching our way around Canberra taking in the sights with 2beez and attending Mega. Another great day picking up challenges, hiking and visiting some unique spots. We have been so lucky with the weather too. Have been wanting to visit here to grab some challenges and trads. Glad we did visit. Thanks GreyHams for creating for us all to enjoy. ...................................................Nominations for the **2023 Victorian Cache of the Year Awards** are now open and will close on **17 April 2024**. Exciting times over the next couple of weeks as we takeoff for the Capital GeoBash in Canberra! Its going to be a flood of Sandgropers over east, with a host of West Aussies making the trek east for the event. Im travelling with fellow Cockburn Crew members Leg5 and Barnzy12, starting in Sydney and hitting the road to Canberra, before returning back to Sydney. Honourary mention to our fellow member, Cravo10, who couldnt make it after recently introducing a new geocacher to the world the week prior. Once in Canberra, the agenda is set, well team up with a host of Western Australians to conquer caches. Collectively, were hoping to make it the biggest ever weekend for cache finding. Following the event, the journey continues back to Sydney, with a mission to clean up caches and new Local Government Areas (LGAs), ensuring no cache is left unturned in this epic geocaching adventure. Something tells me that well need a holiday after this, well, holiday. All logs have been signed as WAC to save space, abbreviation for Western Australia Crew. Cheers GreyHams! The Cockburn Crew are on tour at the Capital Geobash in Canberra - travelling from Perth to Sydney, Canberra, Sydney and finally back to Perth.Today was day 2 and we had an absolute blast. After being up late last night we backed it up again this morning with an early start to make the most of the cooler weather and lack of muggles in the morning cold. We completed a huge number of trails, challenges, whereigos, traditional, multis, earthcaches, labs, virtuals and puzzles. It really was a great day for variety. We enjoyed the large number of virtuals, and caching in territory we havent been before. Weve filled our boots with some of the oldest caches in Australia, some rare DTs and DTTs and generally had a great time. Thanks to the COs for a great day and event. Logs signed as part of team WAC (WA Crew)
Day 6 of my Canberra Mega adventure. Out caching with the members of the WAC crew. The day looks to be another sunny day, so a great day for geocaching . Very happy to claim a smiley here . Relocated over to the unburnt base of the mountain to do some of the lower caches. Found quickly as setting off. Mr CNQ is caching and driving on own so appreciate a convenient cache to navigate to. Thanks GreyHams.
TFTC.....start of a lovely walk around Black Mountain with frilk and zqx. Nice quick find and on we went
During our weeks trip with Bare Foot Guru, Infoferret and Trinity to the Canberra Mega we logged as a combination of "BFG, CF, BIC, BITC" depending on who we were caching with at the time. The trip took us on a flight to Melbourne first, then a drive to Canberra, followed by a drive to Sydney before flying out again. Where possible I will add commentary to each find about the cache. Thanks for all the caches, hides and effort put into hiding and maintaining them.Quick and easy find.

We have arrived in Canberra for the MEGA events and are doing a mixture of sightseeing and finding selected caches. We spend couple of hours in this area picking up challenge caches and as a bonus the traditional as well. Unfortunately we were stopped on top of the mountain by a planned backburning so we had to do a u-ee.Tftc GreyHams
A quick find at - as the name suggests- the parking area for the walking trails at the base of black mountain. Nicely tucked away out of sight, this cache is a good map marker to know where to pull up the car.
The Adelaide Leap Day Mega and Canberra Geobash gave us a great excuse for a road trip. This trip has shown us so many new and interesting places as weve chased LGAs, oldies, challenges, interesting D/T combinations, rarer cache types and favourites.Meeting up with friends old and new along the way, we sometimes cached together and sometimes alone but always had a great time. Today we took a hike around Little Black Mountain, enjoying the solitude, the birdlife and the perfect walking weather as we found as many challenge caches as we could and other caches we passed along the way. A nice quick and easy find here for the start of our day and a handy guide for parking as well. Thanks to the CO for placing and maintaining this cache and adding to our enjoyment.
After a nearby event, At the Lake House and I headed to the bottom of the mountain to find a few caches. A quick find was made here and we added our names to the log. With everything returned as found, we continued on our way. TFTC
Visiting Australia and today we are in Canberra out with All7. Now that was fun! We are always looking for oldies and some of the other caches nearby. We have found the cachers around here super friendly and helpful. Thanks for the smile

6 months ago, during a frenzy, we said to ourselves "why not going to the mega in Adelaide for the leapday". From scratch we moved on to preparing an 18-day project in Australia. Our objectives are simple, visit a small part of this immense continent while validating a few caches. There are so many caches (impossible to do everything) that we will select. Our plan will allow us to visit Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne, Mount Gambier and finish in Adelaide for the famous Mega.During our stay we will log PestiHoot for Pestinette and Blackhoot.Arriving in Canberra this early afternoon, we visit Black Mountain through the caches. We will come across kangaroos, iguanas and spiders (a little scary). The forest trail is very pleasant. The coordinates are very precise, so we will do it flawlessly.Easy, good. Thanks for the cache and the discovery of beautiful or original spots
Quick find here. As I picked up the container a massive spider crawled up my arm; yikes. I shook him off and signed the log. Thanks!
Found it without too much trouble. Finally made it to cache No. 300, with a 10-year hiatus between Nos 283 and 284! I'll try to find a replacement cache container as the original has lost its 'attraction', so to speak. TftC
It's unbelievable that this one took the longest to find of all the caches I attempted today.Eventually ran it down in a spot I thought I'd checked.TFTC GreyHams and the dorito
My first ever visit to the ACT and with a few hours of spare time on both the Saturday and Sunday I decided to target the many challenge caches in Canberra. This series caught my attention especially since it combines my geocaching hobby with my other hobby, hiking!I parked near the suggested location and set about finding 20 caches, knowing that there were three more in the area I didnt qualify for and will possibly never qualify for.The whole process went very smoothly. Thanks to good coordinates, clear hints, sparse vegetation and nicely sized containers I was back at the car within 2 hours!Back at the car, I couldn't resist picking up this trad. Thanks to the hint it was quickly found. Thanks for the Challenge series GreyHams and for the exercise on a 33C Canberra day
Quick grab today after the Friends of Black Mountain Wildflower Ramble. Lots of people around so I had a read of the comments first. Quick find, the cache might not be as well affixed as it originally was, but still hidden. Will have to come back for some of the challenges one day. TFTC

Morning run-and-grab cache while out jogging.
Woke up and felt like some trail running, so headed out to Bruce ridge and then some of black mountain, as well as to collect this hide.
Spent a little bit looking too far afield but soon refocused to the right spot. All good at gz. Cheers

We (the pants people) pay our respects to their Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.

Sims_family and Dromaniax are on day Eight of a our 10 day trip to Queensland and back again towing a 12x8x7 foot trailer that is loaded to the hilt and weighs quite a bit. Fuel efficiency has gone out the window with the Ginja Ninja (My Orange Mitsubishi Triton) going through fuel faster than I have ever seen before.
Day Eight sees us travel from Woolongong to Canberra. Making to Canberra early enough after visiting the Skyspace we thought we would stretch our legs and go for a good walk to sign a few challenge caches.
With this trad being right near the parking coords of course we had to sign it before we headed off on our walk.
Thank you GreyHams for the cache and sorry for the late log I am still trying to catch up on logging from our big journey.

Today is the eighth day of the Sims_family/Dromaniax big road trip to Queensland and back again.
We are towing a very big trailer, which was chockers, but when you have a mission, someone else is paying for the fuel, and there is the opportunity for nine days of caching fresh fields, you jump at the chance.
We have a long list of target caches and hope to cross quite a few goals off the list on this trip.
We had decided to go and sign a whole slew of challenge caches, and this one was conveniently placed near the best parking place for picking off the Challenge caches.
We made a quick find of a cache in excellent condition.
Thank you GreyHams for this Traditional cache.

819 for the tribe
What better to do on a lovely Autumn afternoon than signing some very nice challenge caches in a lovely bit of bushland while the sun sets. Plenty of other Roos about besides the tribe in this section of bushland today. Some big ones too! All caches were found with spot on coords and helpful hints. Lovely cache containers in this series. Some logbooks were a bit damp but all were signable, particularly the ones with plastic bags for the logbooks.
Thanks for setting up this series of challenge caches! And so good to have this one here to help us park at the right place. Was going to park across 4 lanes of traffic but this was so helpful.

We continued today our tour in ACT, AUS, and thereby searched, found and logged this interesting Traditional-Cache.
The weather was - said in one word – simply best. The good hidden caches and the being on holidays kept us the whole day in a good mood.
The cache had good coordinates, and thus was easy to find. The logbook was okay, and allowed easy logging.
Thanks to GreyHams for the generation of this nice cache Challenge Cache Parking (with the proper agenda), for leading us here and for showing us this funny location as well as the ongoing maintenance of this cache.
PS: Please forgive us the uniform log which is needed due to timing problems - if necessary special actions and happenings are there described where they appeared.
Greetings from Germany together with the hope to meet somewhere like event or wood.

Today was my last day in Canberra and I was picked up nice and early for a caching day with The Green Geckos. She had a plan of caches to collect and I was just following along. It did not matter where we went as they are all new to me, lol.
First was an early start and drive up to the Telstra tower. Here was a virtual and a couple of challenge caches and around a ways was a whole series of challenge caches. We signed the logs where required and answered questions or took pics where required.
We meet up with the Domsky’s and walked a trail for a nice rainy walk. Then we proceeded to grab a few fun tree fishing or tree climbing caches. It was then a final event of Roddyc’s before a drive to the airport. An adventure lab and a virtual awaited me there. There is So much to see and do in Canberra.

TaurusSix and I are back in Canberra for a few days. It is a place that is very dear to our hearts so we always enjoy any opportunity to visit. This time one of us is here for a work conference and one of us has tagged along. As well as the work conference there is plenty of opportunity for us to catch up with old friends and of course to squeeze in a geocache or two or three …

TaurusSix and I planned an venture to the slopes of Black Mountain to sweep up a number of challenge caches. We parked nearby this cache, and it would be silly to walk right past it and not find it.

Making the most of enjoying what's left of a short lived summer and rapidly diminishing daylight saving to make some finds. Many have been on my solved pile for some time and with prolonged work commitments due to COVID I've just not had the spare time to do much caching at all as I've been working such long hours.
Consequently nor have I been on my favourite eMTB for many weeks, or to my favourite Namadgi for lots of bushwalks over the summer months. So having to make do squeezing in some urban caching for a quick walk here and there, or even more conveniently drive by caching. Caching is caching right, and thank goodness it comes in so many forms to suit practically every occasion life throws at us.
Straightforward find here today.
And so it goes, just happy to pick up caches such as this one. Thanks to GreyHams for putting out and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment!

Well I didn't need to park here today but was where I made a start- too easy after getting dropped off to walk back to our accommodation. TFTC!
I guess today is the day I learn to mountain bike. I bought one about a week ago to replace my urban bike. Today I’m like, I’ve got a mountain bike, surely it will be okay on Bruce’s Ridge/ lower Black Mountain. Well damn, not the same. The declines, omg. Anyway, got this one.
Finally remembered a pen and lucky us - it does work !!!!

Today was a very wet day so we went to indoor attractions, even parked in the car seeing caches nearby wasn't enough to get me out there looking. After getting back to our accommodation the rain stopped so I headed off for the last hour of daylight. It was very wet in the low spots so the feet got a bit wet. I was surprised this log was dry when I found it after the rain we had.

This weekend from 17-21/06/2021, I joined georode and gridge98 in visiting our nation's capital, Canberra for geocaching adventures. We prioritised the higher difficulty-terrain combinations, as well as the more special/unique cache types.
On Thursday, I largely spent the day solo and visited Black Hill lookout, the Botanic Gardens, Australian National University and nearby Canberra Central, and then gridge98 and I walked around the front of Parliament area in Parkes.
Friday was spent completing a few hikes in Goorooyarroo Nature Reserve and Kowen Escarpment Nature Reserve, before then meeting locals at a Friday evening dinner event.
Saturday was predominantly the UFO series in Bullen Range Conservation Reserve, targeting the higher terrain ridge area.
On Sunday, we arose to the morning's CITO event, before returning to Goorooyarroo Reserve for more walking around those hills.
Finally on Monday, gridge98 and I headed north to Yass for the Birds of Australia Wherigo series, a few climbing caches, and returning to ACT completing the UGC series.
Today, I took ownership of our rental car, with my aim of heading to the lower Black Mountain challenges. However, I was lured by the virtual cache at the top of the mountain, and so that became my first stop. A short jog around the hill, and then great views at the top of Telstra Tower.
My next visit was the Australian National Botanic Gardens, completing the *Australia's Garden* and *The Rainforest Walk* Adventure Labs. It was then on to the challenges around lower Black Mountain, spending a few hours walking around before the rain fell later in the afternoon.
My afternoon was then spent touring around Australian National University whilst following a few more Adventure Labs: *ANU*, *Everyone's a critic!* and *What's in a name?*. I then had a walk in downtown Canberra and visited Glebe Park completing that *Glebe Park Wander* Adventure Lab.
After dinner, gridge98 was grabbed from the airport, and we explored some of Parkes in front of Parliament House. A few more virtual, wherigos and Adventure Labs were completed, and we made one last stop at the National Carillon.
I'm actually really thankful that this cache exists, as I did study a few of the challenges hoping for a suggested parking waypoint, but couldn't see any information. I was then going to park along the highway, but questioned the legality and sensibility of doing so. I then looked ahead to see the aptly named *Challenge Cache Parking*, and I thought, oh goodie! So thanks!
After parking and collecting my "walking" gear, I then went on to try to find this cache. I should have trusted the hint and my gut, than where my GPS was taking me in following the coordinates. I took five minutes looking where GZ said it was, and then back tracked to make a quick find. Hence, I did think these coordinates were out by about 10 m. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks GreyHams for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

TFTC Thank you for hiding this cache. You have shown us a new place and have helped make geocaching an enjoyable activity.
Out and about today with the hope of spending the afternoon grabbing a collection of caches from Black Mountain.
After grabbing a quick cache at the turn around point this was the starting point for the planned walk. Nice quick find that I've walked and driven past many times before today

Day 5 of the Canberra adventure. It’s the last day, but won’t be leaving until after the RAAF fly over and some more challenge caches.
The flyover has just finished... wow there is some mighty talent there. It took a lot less talent for me to find this cache but I still get the smiley!
Thanks GreyHams for the cache.

A quick grab to start the day and also begin completion of the challenge series. May take a few years but some I can do today. TFTC
Thanks for an easy one first off! I can see the phone and GPS will be all over the place today - as they were a couple of days ago in this area. Cache all good - thanku.
Headed out early morning to grab a few of the challenges. Started here and soon had the cache in hand. Thanks for the starter GreyHams...
We used this place to stay here overnight.
The magnet isn't there any more, but we found the can on the ground.

#7438 (1 of 15 today)
Day 3 of my trip to Canberra for the ODI and T20 cricket. Tonight is the T20 but before that I'll be partaking of some places of interest - the Portrait Gallery, High Court and current exhibitions at the National Gallery - before the match.
Had a great time at each, and the Pub Rock exhibition at the Portrait gallery is a must see.
But before all that I headed out of my cabin at the nearby Tourist Park and did a two and a half hour walk around Mount Black collecting a swathe of challenge caches... and two Traditionals.
I planned a circular route of 14 caches, and my friend only texted me that he was awake and raring to go when I was two caches from the finish. I'd started at 6:30am. Would have been quicker, but two of the hides escaped me for a while.
Actually there were a few challenges in the area I didn't grab - two I don't qualify for, and another I do but it's close to one I don't so can leave it for another trip and grab them all together. Hopefully...
Later in the day I grabbed another traditional. Top day all around, but my feet are tired. But we lost the T20.
###END OF CUT AND PASTE SECTION###
Not the first car here today. But I suspect the only cacher.
Initially the iPhone wanted me outside the fence but soon relocated for a quick find.
Signed, replaced and I'm away! Challenges await!

After finishing at a CITO, decided to head over this way to find some of the challenge caches. Not sure how many of them I will be able to claim, but what would the fun be if they were already completed.
Thank you
Thank you
Second day of caching in Canberra this weekend. Weather looks a lot better then yesterday. With that said the bike came out if the car so I didn't drag it along the whole way for nothing. Lots of caches found again, thanks to all for hiding. Also made good progress towards a few goals.

A nice cool day was perfect for collecting caches along the lower northern slopes of Black Mountain. I had no idea how extensive the reserve was on this side - lovely to walk through. This cache was an easy find at GZ - and told me where to park, so very useful. Thanks GreyHams!
Celebrating the end of a work day I felt like a cache. This one had been left for just one such occasion and so I finally stopped and collected it today.
Quick find, its not holding on magnetically any more but works where it is.
Thank you GreyHams for putting the cache out and maintaining it.
